Schwartz Driving School: Reviews
Fantastic experience: Today I complete my driving test through them very quick and helpful
Fantastic experience: So nice and perfect. Made us feel comfortable.
Positive experience: Estoy buscando una escuela para aser mi prueba de manejo ay alguna persona en este sitio que able español para ajendar una cita
Negative experience: I had a TERRIBLE experience with Schwartz Driving School. I paid $60 for my first road test, and they failed me, claiming I didn’t fully stop at a stop sign—even though I know I did. When I went back to retake the test, I had to pay another $30, only to be failed again for the exact same reason, even though I made sure to stop properly. The examiner was rude not only to me but also to my brother, rushing him to leave because they were “closed for the day.” This place feels like a money grab, and my experience was extremely frustrating. I would not recommend them at all.
Negative experience: brought my roomate to do their test here, and while sitting in their waiting room had to listen to the ppl running their call center be exceptionally rude to people over the phone (literally screaming at them !) and then get off the phone to talk loudly with their coworker and belittle the person they had been talking to "like they were dumb, because they are" because "they don't speak english". (which, im pretty sure they did as they were able to explain that they were at the wrong location). So disgusted, and would def not recommend to others.
Fantastic experience: Hice mi prueba de manejo ya que el DMV siempre estaba lleno y la persona que me atendió aquí fue muy paciente aún sabiendo que el inglés no es mi idioma y Gracias a Dios ya tengo mi licencia. 100% recomendado
Negative experience: This place is an operational disaster. Avoid at all cost!
Fantastic experience: My son did his driving education through the Schwartz Driving School in London. He had a very positive experience with Shane Madigan and gained a great deal of confidence in his driving skills. Highly recommend!
Fantastic experience: Staff is wonderful! School is thorough and I feel my children have come out as confident and competent drivers. I highly recommend Schwartz Driving School and have used them for all of my children.
Negative experience: My daughter did her in class here a year ago still doesn't have he certificate took months to schedule in car when finally got scheduled it was because I asked for a refund. She had to cancel her last two classes because she got COVID. They charged 80 dollars to reschedule then when she went to reschedule they said her time was up she couldn't. So now I'm just out over 500 and still have to take her somewhere else. If anyone having this horrible experience will file a complaint with the attorney generals office they can be shutdown. Update after contacting the attorney generals office a nice man from the Springfield location contacted me and is helping to straighten out the situation. I will update when she has completed her program with the end result
Negative experience: The worse experience ever the teacher Karen is very rude and very disrespectful to not only the students but the parents as well, my child called me while Karen was screaming at her she is very aggressive and won’t even allow you to speak she also took it upon herself to take pictures of my child without permission I will be filing a complaint with the department of public safety as well as legal, then her boss Donna called me today and she was no better I mean I have never experienced anything like is she was so rude and disrespectful to me it was insane she wouldn’t allow me to speak on the lies she was trying to defend Karen on…..I requested a refund immediately I will NOT recommend this school to anyone I wish I had read the reviews before I signed my child up for this particular school but it was a lesson learned and they will be hearing from the legal side not even understanding the position we are in and how left this could have went. I’m still in shocked at the way they have spoken to me as well as my child run don’t waste your time or money trust me
Fantastic experience: I recommend doing in-cars through Schwartz Driving School with Mr. Wills (Bryan Wills). There was no scheduling waitlist or anything at all for me, and there was a lot of flexibility with the times (there are many different blocks during the day with various instructors). I did all of mine with Mr. Wills, and he was a wonderful instructor. He was very good at communication and explaining everything to me/telling me what I did well and what I could work on more, as well as pushing me to make safe driving decisions by myself. When I was unsure of something, he answered all of my questions well. He made sure to get to everything every time (maneuverability, residential, local, country roads sometimes, and highways in the later sessions). He was also relaxed and made the drives a lot less stressful. Overall, I enjoyed my experience with Schwartz Driving School and Mr. Wills is a great instructor!
Negative experience: Instructors often treat students like therapists, expecting them to listen to their life problems or serve as objects to vent to. Yes, instructors do love to yell at students. So, if you want your child to either endure yelling or start their LPC licensing process, this would be the place for you (not really).
Negative experience: I’d give this place a 0 if I could! Do not recommend
Negative experience: Do not go here, save your money. Driving instructor “Brian” blamed me AND my sister for missing his cousins funeral because of our in cars. He also made me drive to the back of the parking lot to give me a hour long speech before we drove off about how this generation will not be successful in life and our parents will not be proud. Also saying all white people are racist to his sons and in general. this speech went on so long i did not even get to drive on the freeway because of this so the next day we drive on the free way for 5 minutes. why am i spending $400 for him to give me a speech the whole time? He would also get very mad if you did not do manuverability the way you want him to, he will give you a speech about that one too. overall 0/5
Fantastic experience: I just need to know for y’all who went her how long did it take for your certificate to get to you
Fantastic experience: I signed up and scheduled all of my incars to get done within a month. My last lesson is next week and I’m confident for when I take my test. Jorge and Kevin are great instructors and I recommend booking with them for a less stressful experience and helpful tips on driving.
Positive experience: Scheduling was a bit tricky, and the website did crash a few times which was frustrating. However, Kevin was an incredible instructor who gave constructive feedback and had a great presence during my in-cars.
Fantastic experience: Tammy did an awesome job teaching my daughter. She was patient, kind and had a wealth of information and tips to better her driving skills. She went above and beyond. She recommended places to take her driving test, even specifically reviewing aspects of the test in the location we chose. She was always willing to answer any of our questions. She has even made herself available after my daughter completed her in-car lessons with her. I am very pleased with this experience and highly recommend this location.
Negative experience: 1 star; just so I can say something. No, I haven't attended the class; why would I! I wouldn't have even sent my kids there! I teach them myself; I know better. I'm not even from the area! But yet, I can't help but notice that one of the instructors continues for months to park her car in between Two Handicap spots on the stripped lines in a mostly empty parking lot; yet, teaches new drivers how to drive. ? She doesn't even know how to Park! Amateur! Make sure you use a Credit Card; so that, you can get your money back!
Negative experience: Super annoyed with this company , trying to communicate with them is like pulling teeth , they never answer the phone u must call leave a voicemail and wait for a call back , and then for the in-car sessions are almost impossible to schedule for a high school student unless ur ok with missing school and work to drop off at their location and pick up , the only in-car sessions that’s even been available is all Monday-Friday during school hours , and they don’t pick ur kid up , u have to drop them off and pick them back up at their driving school location
Negative experience: I could say how poor their business practices are , but all I will say is check the Better Buisness Bureau before you consider using their services.
Negative experience: Do not send them through this school.!! They only have one in car driver instructor to schedule for the in car class. I have been waiting over a month to get my daughter Scheduled and do not have time to stare at there calendar. To schedule her myself. this should have been done through them instead of the parents have to stare at the phone 24 hours a day and hope there is a day that comes open.
Negative experience: DO NOT GO HERE ! I’m a student that been enrolled since June, since haven’t drove with an instructor and it is now September… just want to get my license. Everyone is unprofessional and lies and will cancel your appointment last minute. Do not waste your money , go to a more professional business.
Fantastic experience: Donna worked extremely hard to find drive times that fit our super busy schedule! We appreciate the friendly customer service provided to our family.
Negative experience: The only reason I'm giving one star, as stated by others is because it's required to be able to write a review. I paid for this course early February and my child completed the classroom portion on 3/2. It is now almost July and EVERY month when we call we get told "call back next month". When you pay for a service, you should receive that service in a timely manner. If you don't have the staff to complete both portions of the class maybe you shouldn't schedule as many classes. Trust the reviews and find somewhere else for your child to go through driving school.
Fantastic experience: Great Staff! Even with all the calls they still took time out to help me and my child through this whole process
Negative experience: My son enrolled in December started in January he was done in February with online we are in June they call and tell us the only way to do it sooner is to drive him 35 mins to Westerville for in cars or wait until November to do it in Grove city. I’ve traveled 4 days from Grove city to Westerville and it is so ridiculous I will NEVER recommend this company!!!
Negative experience: Honestly I have to give at least one star because is required to write but is the worst school driving i ever seen they don't answer phone, they don't return emails and they don't want to give a refund either the workers are so mean I definitely don't recommend at all to anybody CERO STARS 0☆for review
Negative experience: The driving instructor had my son pick up cigarettes from a gas station. This is very unacceptable and she should be FIRED!
Negative experience: I have heard horrible stories about this place and I don't understand why these people are still in business. The state needs to start investigating these driving Ed businesses.
Negative experience: Go somewhere else! They don’t answer the phones and most employees are rude. It takes months to scheduled for driving. My daughter completed class in july. Her permit expired in December. She did not finish her drives until January the following year. I was not given a discount on the class nor was the permit payment reimbursed. Highly disappointed. I called several times in a one day no answer i finally went there and they were having a pizza party. No wonder they couldn’t answer the phones to busy doing nothing!!!
Fantastic experience: I took my driving course in 1978 during the 78 blizzard.
Fantastic experience: Helpful and prompt for scheduling
Negative experience: This driving school is absolutely terrible. No communication between the schools or to the customers. Seriously if you’re considering going through here do not! You will wait for months to get in and they’ll tell you a date for them to not even actually schedule you for that day. Whoever works here or manages this place should be fired or quit immediately because of how bad this place is.
Negative experience: Absolutely awful!!! Go anywhere but here. Each person that answers a call tells you something different. You'll have to wait at least 3 months after you finish classes to sign up for driving time.
Negative experience: Take your money!!!! Don't answer!!! Keep telling you to wait to do the driving class..not enough drivers!!! 7 months later... still nothing....$400...no refund...place is a joke!!!!
Negative experience: If I could give zero stars, I would. I paid for my daughter's lessons back in May, and I sent all of the documentation that they needed.... after that, radio silence. I've had to reach out to them repeatedly about when her lessons would actually be scheduled. I was finally told she was on their waiting list until August. (They don't give you this info up front, but they'll gladly take your money.) August came, and I heard nothing. So I reached out again August 16th. At that point I was told they are "involved with the state trying to get the classwork transferred". August 18th, I asked if that meant that they hadn't accepted her transcripts? No response. September 20th I asked if they heard anything or knew what was going on with her lessons, and I said something about the fact that we weren't getting responses or updates from them. I'm sure you can guess, they didn't respond to that email either. They haven't called or left any voicemails either. I wish I would've read some of these reviews before I gave them any money. This is not the Scwartz that I remember from my youth. I'm beyond disappointed. And like others have said, they will ignore you and refuse to give you a refund.
Negative experience: Office cannot and will not answer their phone. Had george as an instructor - he was very passive aggressive, and then proceeded to have me DRIVE TO HIS HOUSE so his wife could give him food. Constantly put his hands on the wheel when I was in no wrong, centered in my lane or in the process of making a LEGAL turn. Constantly put his hands either on my arm or on my shoulder. And when I tried to call Schwartz to change my instructor, they never called me back and proceeded to not pick up the phone for 3 days. 3 DAYS. So now I’m stuck with getting a 40$ charge because I cannot stand to be in the car with that instructor again. Don’t waste 400-500 dollars like I did here. They don’t do refunds and they don’t care about their customers or about contacting their customers when there’s an obvious issue. And I’m not the first person to complain about him.
Negative experience: Failed to provide in car training, was originally backed up on scheduling due to Covid went beyond one year contract they claim and refusing to schedule in car
Fantastic experience: I can’t say enough great things about our experience with Schwartz. The ladies in the office we’re so helpful, and my daughter loved her instructor. He made her in car driving experience a breeze. Thanks Schwartz!
Fantastic experience: Recently used for my 16 year old son to complete his classes and driving. He did the live zoom class option and then used their driving instructors for his in car. Team was always prompt to call me back when leaving a message and instructors were on time and communicated about any issues.
Negative experience: They dont tell you up front that you will wait 3 months for in car training after you finish the classroom training. They just want to get your money first then spring it on you that they don't do refunds.
Positive experience: Kevin my instructor was great. He was friendly and helpful. He thought me a lot of good things. The only two things that I have against Schwartz is the lack of communication. The were horrible with communication. We called and called and never got an answer… we left voicemail after voicemail and finally got a call back. We didn’t get to the phone in time to answer it so we called them right back and got no answer . And also the videos that they show you need updated, most of them were from the 80’s and 90’s. One of them was from the 1930’s! But all it all it wasn’t great but it wasn’t horrible.
Negative experience: My partner had a horrible experience here. The instructor no called no showed and now he is out $200. Unable to get in contact with anyone there about a refund. Do NOT spend your money here as you are not guaranteed driving lessons even if you pay. And from the looks of these reviews, even if you manage to get lessons, they will be a disaster.
Positive experience: I'm giving a 3 star at the moment but this might change depending on if someone contacts me... My daughter has completed the classroom portion on April 29th and I've been trying to reach the Grove City location about scheduling her driving sessions. Please contact me I've left several messages.
Negative experience: Had mary for my driving instructor...poor at her job. NOT PROFESSIONAL. RUDE . NO PATIENCE AT ALL. SMOKING CIGARETTES BEFORE GETTING IN THE CAR THAT BY THE WAY IAM STUCK IN FOR 2 HOURS. She yelled at me ....I wish I would've switched drivers. She shouldn't be do this job.
Negative experience: Had Mary and she was just awful. I got in a minor argument with my brother and was crying and she asked why I was crying and that she couldn’t take me driving like that so I explained that I was fine and why I was crying to which she said she wasn’t my counselor and my personal life wasn’t her business when she asked what wasn’t up with my crying. I guess I accidentally revved the gas or pressed to hard again she is supposed to help teach not yell at me. She said that if that didn’t fix itself in the next 10 minutes she “wasn’t doing it”. She yelled at me multiple times and threatened to end the driving session every time I made a mistake with hands or gas. I sighed because I had anxiety driving with someone who was yelling at me about everything and she forced me to pull over and get out of the car because I had an attitude. I actually have anxiety and it wasn’t just nerves like I literally have severe anxiety disorder. She called my guardian and told him I had an attitude problem and that she was not driving with me because I came in the car crying and had an attitude. I told her all she had done was yell at me and threaten to end the session and that she was going to tell my guardian, “how bad of a parent they were” which is inappropriate to say. And when my guardian showed up she proceeded to completely lie about everything. Saying that I was mean and had an attitude and that she had told me multiple times to do or not to do something when I’m fact she just yelled at me for the things I did wrong and never once tried to help correct me. She told my guardian that I had said they were a bad parent and she was just emphasizing what I said when I never said they were a bad parent I just explained why I was crying and never once said that anyone was a bad parent. Those words came out of her mouth. She also went on to say that she’s just a driving instructor and not my counselor when I wasn’t trying to treat her as a counselor I was explaining why I was crying because she LITERALLY ASKED. She completely switched the story to make me look bad in front of my guardian because she didn’t want to admit that she was being horrible and disgusting and yelling at me instead of helping me. Why does this woman have a job still if this is how she treats and talks to students? Kevin was great and I will be requesting him back and I hope that Mary is dealt with because I know I am not the only student she has treated this way.
Negative experience: 1/12 I am continuing to struggle with this driving school. They will not accommodate after school drives as advertised when I signed up. It is just super frustrating. Do NOT waste your time with this place!!!! I was not informed the instructor driving with my son would not be wearing a mask. How this school can allow an instructor to drive with kids and not wear a mask is unconscionable.
Negative experience: Worst experience with a company ever. I went to this same place when I was learning how to drive and wanted another great experience for my daughter. Classrooms were overloaded with 30 kids shoulder and shoulder with no social distancing during the pandemic. Instructor refused to wear a mask. They got shut down by the health department which caused major delays. Once classes resumed they could not schedule in cars lessons for months. Used multiple excuses. Appeared disorganized, unresponsive, and lacked communication. Very unprofessional if you got someone on the phone. Ended up having to go to another company to re-take classroom and get in cars lessons completed. Disputed charges with credit card company and won. Save yourself the headache and go to a more reputable company. Today my daughter got her license. This company slowed us down by 6 months.
Negative experience: Decades ago, they were the go-to. Now I'm in a boat where I've paid nearly $500 7 months ago to not hear ANYTHING for 6 months and finally go down there and be told it will be another 3-4 months before they can even schedule driving classes. I know someone who turned 18 in the waiting period, and Schwartz offered no refund. Garbage school, garbage communication, garbage management. And buying the other driving school in town secretly and keeping the name? That's just shady business.
Negative experience: I had an awful experience here. My drivers ed teacher screamed at me and removed me from her class. The videos shown are from the 80's and my instructor just sat on her phone the whole entire 4 hour class period, while we were left to watch those videos. I am not one to complain about service in a public place but this driving school was not very accomdating at all. I called and called for multiple days and they struggled to respond.
Negative experience: They are very unorganized. They never return phone calls. We had to call Columbus Driving Academy to reach someone who knows how to reach them.
Negative experience: Signed my daughter up for driving portion and months go by and she hasn’t been able to even start!! I called and asked for a refund and the lady I spoke with got super snotty and said they have 6 months to get the students in. This place is an absolute joke. Don’t waste your time or money cause you’ll be lucky if you get it back.
Negative experience: Terrible service for a ridiculous price
Negative experience: Very rude hard to get a hold of. Not very happy with this place.
Negative experience: Unorganized, rude staff. My other children won't be using them. The teacher bad mouthed other students and me to my daughter. I didn't pay money to your school for you to put my childs life at risk and then when I question your safety policies you have a big mouth teach talking in a ridiculous manner to my child.
Negative experience: They closed for virus, opened again, 2 weeks close. You never get a person. They do not return phone calls. Close down mid day and don't call the other scheduled people to inform them. Don't give any explanation. This school has gone way down hill. The owner should be ashamed.
Fantastic experience: This place is great. Ms Karen makes it not so boring, she actually talks to kids and try’s to have a conversation with them. Also she teaches the class valuable stuff, and gives real life experiences and don’t just let the video play. I thinks it’s great.
Negative experience: This is not the same driver's school my husband and I experienced in the 90s. We had a consistently bad experience at all points and wish we had read the reviews: 1) They are pretty hard to get hold of. They tend to work out of Westerville and not GC, even though there is a GC office. This wasn't a huge deal, except in getting paperwork from them. The office hours are wrong on the website. They open at 10am. 2) Scheduling in-car driving was very difficult on too many levels. We couldn't be placed on their schedule despite very open availability for 1.5 months. We called several times and they would not schedule nor could they tell us when exactly they would put us on the books! If you use them, schedule those ASAP because you'll have to wait a long time. There should be no reason they can't at least put it on their calendar and give you times and dates. Note: They said they had a driver who had a surgery and couldn't go and we certainly sympathized with that, but it was still a few weeks after we were told we would be scheduled, we had to call them about 3 times over the course of a few weeks, and even though we said we could do daytime driving since we could (and were told this would help), they scheduled after school. 2) They were not very professional and even somewhat rude at times-both the office and one of the trainers. One driver was great (Everett), the other was an older woman and not too friendly. She even took our son with her to pick up another student without the parents knowing. This was not a huge deal to us, but there are safety concerns with that that parents should know about. That day he came back 15 minutes late from in car driving. 3) The completion paperwork wasn't sent to us on time per contract agreement (7-10 business days) in order to take the exam. We almost had to cancel the exam. It took A LOT of strong handling to get them to finally bring us the papers so we had them on time. Even though we live in GC they wanted us to drive to the Westerville office. They did finally send a driver to the GC office so we could get the paperwork. We were thankful for that (thank you, again) , but it was a lot of stress getting them to help after their mistake and after such a lengthy wait for the in-car driving in the first place. Had I known they only were in Westerville most of the time, that would have affected our choice. We do highly recommend McGuire driving academy in GC. My oldest took through them and she had a great experience, friendly service, and prompt scheduling. I let the slightly higher cost convince me to go with Schwartz. We are so glad this is over. We really hope this helps Schwartz to get back to the company they once were! They have been an asset in the past to many student drivers.
Negative experience: Very unprofessional. One class the teacher talked nothing about driving. And made all the students pretend they are tree’s and leaves. And she done the same thing for another class. We use to recommend Schwartz for driving school but won’t anymore. To add on to this, for the final test, the same teacher helped one student on the test and the rest failed. Then the teacher yelled at everyone who failed. This wasn’t right for any of those students. Very disappointed in this place anymore.
Negative experience: This place sucks. Honestly, the in class instructor is fun in the class room, but if you have her for an in car, shes awful. She yells and screams, and is absolutely unprofessional. I had my in cars scheduled 4 days in a row, which I tool off work for and they canceled 2/4 times on me. When we called them to reschedule, the manager was really rude about my work schedule and was complaining that my schedule should accommodate them because they couldn't control the events that lead to my in cars being canceled. I had 2 other instructors for my last 3 in cars, who were nice. But my first instructor was degrading and is abusing her power as a teacher, I know other people who have gone here and they agree with me. Spend your money else where this place is a joke.
Positive experience: Schedule all of your In car hours on day 1, There's a backlog of up to 3 months.
Positive experience: I loved the learning and how to drive safely and smartly too. I loved the instructor Karen sue Adkins. She is funny and very smart she has taught the drivers ed class for 30 years.
