Fantastic experience: It was a group of us and I want to say it was a few more but only the cool ones got to be in the Pic, JP everybody was great! I had such a great time at this school the hotel they put you in was great the school was nice and I like how everything was right there to train on. If you see this and on the fence to getting your CDLs - just jump right into it even if don’t know how to swim that’s what the Trainers for. STUDY! STUDY! That’s all you need to do for 3 to 4 weeks and you will pass ! CB name - Dump truck (I forgot what a dump truck was ) I’m a Class A holder fully Endorsed Hazmat, tankers, triples and doubles & Combinations with Bus and Passenger - just did that 1/16/25 next is a Class A (passenger) which is a Charter bus (restriction M ) on my License now. I say all that! Because if it was not for TDI I could had not started this Journey ❤️ I am the one on the Far right. Thanks TDI ✌

Fantastic experience: I had a wonderful experience at Truck Driver Institute over the course of the program. I got the needed hands on training during weeks two and three on both the range (Jonathan) and the road (Ricky and Tim). Week one I got great classroom instruction (Rodney). Every instructor I worked with helped me in different ways, whether imparting practical skills, instilling the right mindset, or adding bits of wisdom, advice, and things to watch out for. My recruiter (Mike) was very helpful in getting everything squared away. I would highly recommend going through TDI if you want to earn a CDL.

Fantastic experience: I give this school a solid 4/5. I came into school with my permit (tankers, triples & doubles aswell) 1st week in class is spot on for the stuff you need to know, SHOUT OUT RODNEY!!! He’s a great teacher but I know he’s not for everyone unfortunately, but for me yes, I sat 1st seat 1st desk in Week 1. Week 2 (out on the range & some classroom time) I really appreciate instructors Ricky (you’ll love his stories, older fella makes you feel like his grandson or granddaughter but truly cares about you understanding & learning how to drive!) & Tim (real cool dude , chill & knows what he’s talking about) besides their personalities they truly know how to instruct! & lastly I can’t forget about the recruiter Mike! Apparently to every instructor & those who know him, he’s that guy! He’s a recruiter but could be an instructor or even a teacher! Apparently he was so good in cdl school at this very school! That he got hired to work for them soon as he graduated. As a student who passed on their first try, I can confirm he is that guy! Personally I didn’t need extra help as I was good to go in week 2 out of 3 to take the test. But listening to him explain to other struggling students & even to me when I had a question, I knew he was correct & spot on with instructions to get back up maneuvers done. Driving straight is easy & classroom work is easy. Backup maneuvers definitely take skill & practice. I enjoyed this school & my class. Shoutout , ty’ronn James Chadd Willie & Eric. I was the young buck in class & they also all helped me as if they were instructors! ***add on… I will agree.. week 2 & 3 sometimes the instructors who are out in the range with you (to practice backup maneuvers) usually watch you fail more than come understand where you’re messing up & help you.. my classmates I shouted out were a big help to me understand backup maneuvers (offset backup) it seems the instructors who are assigned to be on the range help, only if you ask them for help… & unfortunately their is always only 1 instructor on the range with you. & the range includes week 2 & 3 , some go driving some stay on the range & swap out am to pm. So usually 9 students 1 instructor on range. While rest are driving.

Fantastic experience: Very good school, they thoroughly explain everything and will give you plenty of tips to help with driving, backing, and shifting. Every instructor there was very helpful and made the experience enjoyable.

Fantastic experience: I've just had the pleasure of getting my training and CDL from this location. The instructors all have their individual quirks and are rough around the edges, but that's what makes the training great. You get real guys who did the time and you get their real experience passed to you. Highly recommend coming here for your CDL training. The only negative things that I've encountered here are things they can easily fix and I'd recommend for them to do so. First is the test trucks, they are bad. Like, really bad. I can see the utility of keeping trucks barely operational to keep costs down and trucks continually rolling. But my goodness, you want to talk about barebones - these trucks move forwards and backwards and I guess that's all you need to train. Second is training instructors not being as attentive as they otherwise should be. Granted, I did get advice and was told how to do some maneuvers, but 80% of the time I was thrown in the deep end to sink or swim. Mind you, I was in a small class size, only a few people. I can't imagine how much neglect happens with 6 or more people in one class. I'd recommend for the school to teach their instructors to get more hands-on with their students and help students when they're observed to be struggling. We're students, we don't know anything about this - making fun of us for making mistakes is something that rubbed me the wrong way. Otherwise, great school with lots of resources. If you're paying nearly 6 grand for 3 weeks, I'd use all resources available to you, good luck to all aspiring drivers!

Fantastic experience: Took my cdl test here and it was a great experience! The guy who tested me was clear and detailed in his directions, and understood how nervous I was to take the test. Tested successfully and now have my cdl

Negative experience: Overall, it's not really a great driving school. Overpriced. Teachers are just okay. Rather toxic most days. At best, I'd say this place is mediocre.i did pass the exam on the first try, but to be honest, it was rather hard to fail.The secretary lady was the best person in the building. Very lovable lady.

Fantastic experience: I'm the one on the right and I have to say this was the best move for me right after COVID-19 PANDEMIC hit. I being a welder/fabric/toolmaker for 23 years got laid-off. I had the dream of being a 18 wheel Big Rig Trucker for a long time so this was the push to make the move and I did. Best thing I ever did and I have to say trucking for me is not a job. It's a lifestyle and I love it! So I like to thank Truck Driver Institute for giving me the tool to be a Cryogenic Bulk Delivery Driver that makes over six figures a year delivery oxygen to hospitals. It's humbling to me thanks again and God Bless ✌️

Fantastic experience: The instructors were all great to work with!! Huge shout out to Mike, Tim Rodney, Ricky and Marshall, you guys are fantastic. I will say, the school probably needs to upgrade their equipment we trained in, but all in all, it was a great experience.

Fantastic experience: Great Institute, lernend a lot from everyone there. in the classroom with instructor Rodney excelentent teaching, on the range instructors had a great experience learned so much on the road practicing as well, Mike and Ricky excenlent instructors...reclurer Joe L and office personal very friendly... life changing experiences no doubt about it. I highly recommend TDI.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely amazing experience. I had never driving a stick in my life, much less a semi and by the end of my 3 weeks, I was extremely confident in my abilities. The instructors were fantastic!!

Fantastic experience: Really learned a lot going through this school! I’m glad I came and I would recommend anyone that needs to get their cdl to do it through this school! Instructors were awesome! Taught me everything I needed to know. People bash this school but alot of these people are the ones who turn their nose up to instruction because they think they know it all. Come in with an open mind. Forget the bad habits you learned through our life and let them teach you! You do that and you will pass this school and take home knowledge and a license!

Negative experience: After a month long class that cost us $7030.00. I am extremely hesitant to refer anyone to this school. Not only were they asked up front if there were any discounts, scholarships, coupons, etc. the class that started the very day after I and 4 others started. The school offered everyone that was taking the class a $1000.00 discount. Now had I not asked specifically. I would not be so upset. However, paying this amount and being lied to about the discounts. Only to have the next class brag about getting the $1000 off, instructors that fall asleep or play on their phone during the entire training. This post would be written completely different. Being a retired Marine, I am a firm believer in treating everyone equally. Across the board.

Negative experience: I would steer far and wide of this shoddy operation. Very little instruction on the range. You're gonna spend alot of your 3rd week on the range instructing 2nd week students both in the truck and on the ore trip exam because they don't have enough instructors, or the instructors want to do as little as possible. One instructor fell asleep in the passenger seat while I was driving down the highway on my 3rd day driving. You'll learn only enough to pass the test. They teach as little as possible. Equipment is not maintained. You're basically on your own to learn the critical pre trip exam, no help from instructors. They tell you there is 80% job placement, in fact there is 0. You are on your own to find work.

Fantastic experience: Very fair testers, great over all experience testing.

Negative experience: I wouldn't recommend coming to the south bend indiana school . They have no one on the range really helping the students my Class had to help each other out and the director was cocky when you're trying to learn to drive and Darius oh my God! Don't know how he can still be their teaching when 90%he's all ways unprofessional and rude/cocky to his students I highly recommend staying far way and go somewhere else to get the proper training you need

Negative experience: Was ok. Kevin, Matt, and Rodney were great instructors. The range sucks. Covered in potholes. Hard to maneuver if you’re not familiar with driving. Lee doesn’t listen and will say you didn’t say/do things that you did in fact do. Then he’ll say that’s his “teaching practices” is saying you didn’t say or do something you did. But he’ll still mark you off on your finals for it. Not that it really matters. They teach you to pass a test. That’s about it. You won’t learn coupling trailers nor 90 degree backing. Which will be 99% of your day to day job. Overall had fun, and the complaints I have were out of the instructors control. They can’t purchase better equipment nor can they make the lot any better. The owner or whoever tries to “grade” the lot but doesn’t know what he’s doing. So he just makes deeper and taller holes. The cones and ropes are all messed up and misaligned. They’re short staffed. So; if you have experience plan to do some teaching. My biggest complaint is the truck you test in as a manual driver you can’t drive til the last 2 days. Which is really annoying but, whatever I guess. I recommend going to Ivy Tech or other schools with nicer lots to drive in. Kristina, Joe, and Seles (not sure how to spell) went out of their way and bent over backwards when I needed it. They are great people and will do whatever you need to help you on your journey. As I said before, the complaints I have were out of these individuals control.

Negative experience: I wish I could give this place 0 reviews. This place is so, corrupted starting from the recruiter's, office staff, the owner, to the instructors. I wish I could also mention names. I have not seeing such a corrupted school like this. Discrimination is at its best. I had so many problems with this company, that, I had to get a lawyer to open up all the issues. And, so many students complain throughout the school. Their truck condition are also not up-to-date. One of the trucks has a lawn chair on the passenger side.

Negative experience: School is poorly operated and you only get mediocre training. Staff is rude with a smile! Training vehicles and range are extremely poor and out dated. The recruiters are pupets and full of lies. Definitely better schools with a higher quality training! Stay away!

Fantastic experience: Dave the tester at tdi was very awesome and understanding and will work with you I highly recommend this place and he will show you what you done wrong and how to fix the situation

Positive experience: It’s a good school and they wanna see you succeed ,but they definitely need more instructors on the range there’re severely understaffed, so your best bet is to listen to the instructors when you get the one on one time and don’t expect to be babied here It’s a very Straightforward program,if you pay attention and stay motivated you’ll pass your CDL test

Fantastic experience: I’m a recent graduate of TDI South Bend Indiana, and I’ll say I had a great experience there. I’ve already been hired by a reputable national carrier and I couldn’t be happier. I’d like to personally thank the classroom and driving instructors John, Dan, Darius, Mike and Pete. They gave me the knowledge and tools to pass the state pre trip and driving test no problem. Recruiter Mike, and all the front office staff were % Great as well. So, in closing, I highly recommend this school, and I’m grateful to everyone there. John Schmidt.

Fantastic experience: The instructors at TDI are amazing. They all know what they are doing and are amazing teachers. Curt makes backing really simple and easy for anyone to understand. They not only teach you things you need to know for the DOT test, but they also teach you skills that you’ll use out on the road. I would absolutely recommend to anyone looking to get their CDL

Positive experience: I only went for the CDL driving test. That building is separate from the main training building. My rating is only for the testing building, it needs some lipstick! :-)

Fantastic experience: Chris and his staff of trainers -- Curt, Ryan, Ron, and Dan -- have to be the best in the industry: professional, patient, caring, dedicated, and fun-loving. I am so fortunate to have had their guidance/leadership to help me acquire my CDL. You will not find a better CDL school. To the prospective student: Listen to the instructors at every instruction; do not waiver from their directions. You will be wasting your time to "do as you feel it should be done." Do as they say and you WILL acquire your CDL. Everything is on campus -- the DOT physical, trucks, driver qualification testing. It is the complete, incredible package deal... beginning with, in my experience, Celeste and Cristina in the front office and recruiting. A better option for CDL training does not exist. Thanks to all of you at TDI South Bend for your work and dedication to me... and, most importantly, your friendship.

Fantastic experience: The best thing I ever did was get my CDL at TDI, all of the instructors are kind and awesome at their job and make you feel comfortable, They understand that your new to this and walk you through it step by step it was a great experience. Im thankful for TDI and All of the instructors.

Fantastic experience: TDI was the best choice I could have made for getting the training I needed for my CDL class A license. I trained with a trucking company many years ago, and the training was good. But with TDI, they were not only thorough; they were patient, understanding, did whatever it took to get us trained, and they were caring and fun to train with! I highly recommend training with TDI South Bend, IN. I also love the fact that after training, you're a free agent and go anywhere you like! You're not stuck in a contract with any one trucking company. It was worth every dime.

Fantastic experience: I recommend this place 100% the 1 on 1 training, the instructor's care as long as you listen. Chris and Kurt are awesome if you listen 100% and follow their instructions you will graduate in 3 weeks Take instructor Ron with a grain of salt because he's old and runs his way not the way you need to graduate. Always ask Kurt why he likes cats, unicorns and walks on the beaches with Ron

Fantastic experience: Graduated at the end of January 2020. Instructors were all very knowledgeable and willing to help. Yard trainer Curt does a great job of teaching you how to back up an 18 wheeler and put it right where you want it to go. Office staff are all pleasant to deal with and work with you to find companies to work for that best fit your situation.

Fantastic experience: I had FANTASTIC instructors (Dan,Chris,Kirk,Brad) they were all so helpful and offered a different way to lean things, they were the absolute best. We had a good amount of class time, small classes, with good material to learn. I would recommend them to anyone wanting to get their CDL.. they are well worth the money.. doesn't matter what state your from you can use TDI to get your Fed class A CDL. Fantastic experience: My first contact with TDI was with Kristina and she helped me with making my leap of faith. Kristina answered all of my questions, so I ended up enrolling that same day. My class only had 3 guys and we had a lot of fun and worked well with each other and helped each other along the way. After the 1st week of class (take notes, take notes, take notes) My first day of driving a BIG RIG was a bit scary but with Kurt's patience and instruction, he made it less scary and relatively easy. ALL of the instructors are AWESOME guys and they know their stuff!!!! If you LISTEN to their instructions and put in the time and work you will have no problem passing this class. My classmates and I were 1 and done on test day and that is in large part because of the instructors. If it wasn't for Dan, Brad, Kurt, Ron and Chris it wouldn't have been as much fun and educational. These guys give you all of the tools that you need to suceed and they go the extra mile for each student to make sure that they reach their goal. Dan, Brad, Kurt, Ron, Chris, Kristina, Celeste and John.........you ALL are truly awesome!!!! I sincerely thank each of you for making my experience at TDI a memerable one. Keep up the great work!

Positive experience: I had training to get my CDL here. Took about 3 weeks and it was well worth it. The trainers are very informed and are great at teaching. Just remember to set your ego aside when learning because its completely different from anything else you might have operated.

Fantastic experience: Great experience, i had a lot of fun in South Bend. My first day driving that big rig was a scary one. However with hard work and a lot of help from Kurt, Brad, Chris and Dan and all my fellow classmates, i was able to obtain my CDL license on the first try. Amazing people!!

Fantastic experience: I took my Class A CDL test here. Drove from Indianapolis to this test site because they were able to get me in sooner. Could not be happier with my experience. They helped me feel relaxed but were also very professional in there execution.

Fantastic experience: If you really want to learn the right way on how to drive a combination commercial vehicle, it's parts, functions and the proper DOT regulations, there is no better place to come than TDI South Bend. These instructors have it down to a science. Great patience with each student and overall fun amazing people to be around. Dan, Brad, Curt, Ron, and Chris are a amazing individuals who will see to your success without question.

Fantastic experience: It was a great experience, I learned a lot fron tdi. I was able to go from not knowing anything about driving a big truck to being able to shift and back and do my whole pretrip inspection in one go. I was able to further my life and start a life long career thanks to TDI.

Fantastic experience: Awesome and very skilled instructors. The course is very fast paced, but they give you all the tools and the knowledge you need to succeed if you listen closely and work hard. I walked in as just a regular guy with a barely formed dream to enter the field of truck driving. I left, three weeks later, as a CDL-A holder with a world of possibilities open before me. Fantastic experience: Truck Driving School is very difficult however the teachers there care and teach you with extra effort If it wasn't for the school and there dedicated staff I would have never passed Do yourself a favor go here to learn and you will pass
