Twin County Driving School

Positive experience: Took lessons with them and passed the road test but they have scheduling problems. They had to take me to the road test under a second instructor because my teacher was already booked for a lesson on my road test day. Also the car that I took my road test in the brakes sounded so bad I could almost guarantee it needed new calipers / rotors and it also had stiff power steering. Also all of my lessons were on local roads only once did I go on a more than 2 lane road barring turning lanes and it was for a second at that, and keep in mind I took like 13 lessons They said I would need a drivers license before teaching the expressway / parkway. Make sure you get a package because they schedule and take you to your road test.

Fantastic experience: I don't recall the name of the instructor - I want to say Steve - but it was a great experience. Personable to everyone in the car, took the time to explain things, never raised his voice or rushed anyone. Myself and 2 of the kids I was with (3 of 4 total) passed road tests on the first try. Definitely recommend.

Fantastic experience: They were very helpful, I called them and set up some lessons. They helped me set up my driving test and also I was able to do the drivers test in the car I did the lessons with. My Tom Aveni was very helpful and easy to work comfortably with. It was very nice to see the confidence he had in me as well.

Fantastic experience: Used Twin County Driving School in East Northport and I have nothing but great things to say about them! My driving instructor was Tom Aveni. I was able to pass my road on my first try thanks to him!! He was always available when I need to schedule my driving lessons and was able to work with me and my busy schedule. Cannot recommend Twin County enough. Ask for Tom when you go there - you won’t regret it!!

Fantastic experience: The team at Twin County driving school is incredibly passionate, friendly and professional. After taking informative, engaging lessons with my fantastic instructor, Steve Edwards, I passed my road test yesterday, on my first attempt. I am so grateful that I got to learn from someone calm and collected, with experience and empathy. I did not learn to drive during my high school years, at 25 I am a bit older than the average new driver. Since returning to New York, I have been taking the bus to work for over five years, I am very grateful for the freedom and security that comes with my new driver’s license. I had always been nervous about the idea of driving, but Twin County fostered a stress-free environment in which I really thrived. I took my pre-licensing course through Twin County, it was a very accessible class taught by Chris, who put his all into keeping a Zoom Course engaging, exciting and informative. I am grateful for his passion and his hard work in making a simple course a class to remember. I would also like to thank Eric, who would often help me schedule many of my lessons, for brightening my day with his upbeat, positive attitude. He radiates kindness. His encouragement means so much to me. Kate also helped me a great deal— her candor, kindness and encouragement made my road test appear very approachable and she, alongside Steve and Eric, helped put me in the right mindset to succeed. Negative experience: What a waste of time and money. Spent close to $1200 on driving lessons in an almost 13 year old car only to find out that for 90% of the time they were driving around the side streets in my neighborhood. Only when I requested that they take our son on a main road did they finally do it. No feedback what-so-ever from both his instructors, Larry and Steve, and when I asked if our son was ready to take his road test the receptionist told me according to the instructor...he was ready. He wasn't and failed terribly. I spoke with 'Eric' about getting feedback after he failed and he said he would talk to the instructors and get back to me. It's a month later and I'm still waiting for Eric to get back to me. Fortunately, there is a happy ending. We went with another company who was cheaper and had newer cars and whose owner/operator had our son follow a method and procedure and he passed with flying colors. He offered immediate feedback to us after EACH lesson, and wouldn't sign him up for the test until he thought he was ready. THANK YOU Mr. Taylor!

Negative experience: Class is supposed to be from 9-1030. Class starts at 910 and ends 1020. Company refuses to even discuss how to make up time. They blocked me and hung up on me numerous times. They have an instructor that was embarrassed when my husband asked why late start and early end. Do not use this company. I wish I never gave them money. All Suffolk is good! Manager Kathy totally unprofessional and hung up on me because her instructor is not able to start or end on time. Safe your money. Maria very nice and helpful in office.

Negative experience: Stay away and find someone else. Set up weekly lessons for my son. They didn’t show up or call for the first 2 out of 5. Then just stopped showing up at all.

Fantastic experience: I took lessons with Steve Edwards and he was instrumental in helping me pass the road test. He was so patient and encouraging and taught me a foolproof method for parallel parking. Plus, he’s super fun to talk to and drive with.

Fantastic experience: I had a great experience with Matthew as my driving instructor! As a very nervous driver who was a time crunch to take the road test, Matthew helped me get ready in just a few lessons by putting me at ease, teaching me the road test essentials, and giving me the confidence I needed to pass.

Fantastic experience: My family and I can't say enough about Donna at Twin County in East Northport! We absolutely love her! I have two new drivers in the house, thanks to Donna. She took two very nervous drivers and taught them so well, boosted their confidence levels and made my husband and I feel very secure knowing that they were in amazing hands when they were with her. She gets the highest of recommendations from us!

Fantastic experience: We had a very positive experience with Twin County Driving School. In particular, my son's instructor, Matthew, did an excellent job teaching my son how to drive. Matthew was punctual, kind, patient and always let us know how our son was doing with his lessons, and what he needed to work on. His calm demeanor made my son feel at ease during his lessons. I would not hesitate to recommend Twin County or Matthew to anyone looking for a driving school and instructor.

Fantastic experience: Matthew is amazing he took me to my test and practiced with me first! He gave me so much insight and help to pass my test! He's super calm and knowledgeable he was an asset to my test taking! I have problems with tests they make me nervous but Matthew put me right at ease from the first meeting the morning of my test. Teaching me how to parallel park after not doing it much to advising me how to check blinds spots he was so patient with me I was go glad of his help! If you're like me and need that extra care then Ask For Matthew!!!!!

Fantastic experience: My daughter’s experience with the driving teacher Donna was amazing. In just four lessons she was ready for the road test and also formed a bond with a great teacher. She will do more lessons in the future for highway driving with Donna, a gem!

Fantastic experience: Twin County helped me pass my driving test. Steve is absolutely a great driving instructor. He took me to the Kings Park Bluff. Funny guy. His wife's method of parallel park saved me on the driving test. Not to mention, the secretaries that take the phone calls over at Twin County are very nice.

Fantastic experience: I contacted Twin County for lessons for my 16 year old daughter. Her instructor was Matt. He was very patient and calm and taught my daughter everything she needed to know about driving. She passed her road test on the first time. Matt is an amazing instructor and goes above and beyond what a normal instructor should teach.

Fantastic experience: I contacted twin county to prepare my 16yr. old twins for their road tests. They both did a drivers education program but I did not feel it was enough. They both worked with Mathew who was very kind and knowledgeable. They gained their confidence and both passed after a few lessons. Mathew was very patient and was able to identify the skills they needed to be competent drivers. I would highly recommend him.

Negative experience: Zero Stars! They allow their instructors to talk about politics and bible quotes with a 16 year old. How this is part of a driving lesson? Then when I ask for my money back they go and cash my check. There only concern was to book with another driver. Also, Kate never got back to me, I had to continually call her and I'm still awaiting a call back to see if I'm getting a refund.

Fantastic experience: Ask for Mitch. He is incredibly patient helped me learn how to drive properly and pass the road test.

Fantastic experience: I had Mitch as my driving instructor, he picked me up before my test and helped me practice, i owe it to him(and of course my dear old dad) to passing, and gave me a great tip for parallel parking that i will use for the rest of my life. Wonderful guy, he made any nerves i had vanish and we had some great laughs together! 5 stars! Make sure to ask for him when you go!!

Fantastic experience: Took lessons with Mitch because I wanted to touch on a couple things, and it only took one lesson with him to get where I needed to be. Mitch was calm and well spoken and made it easy to understand instructions.

My daughter was a nervous driver in the beginning but Mitch has a great way about him and helped to put her at ease and give her the confidence she needed to pass the test!! He's awesome!

Fantastic experience: Mitch was my driving teacher and he is the only reason I passed my road test. I couldn’t have done any of it with out him. He took his time with me and was very caring. He made sure I was 100% ready before taking me to my road test. He made me feel confident. I couldn’t have done it with out Mitch.

Fantastic experience: My son has recently enrolled in the drivers education program at Northport high school. He was very lucky to be have gotten a wonderful driving instructor named Mitch. He comes home everyday better at driving. He always is at the school ready to teach when I drop my son off in the morning and gets him to class on time afterwards. If I where to enroll my child in another twin country driving course I would make sure Mitch is there instructor. By far the best instructor.

Fantastic experience: I took my first lesson back in April. I had Mitch as my instructor. He is absolutely fantastic. He is super calm especially while I was freaking out. He took his time to explain everything thoroughly. I looked forward to my lessons with him. Definitely recommend him, especially if you are a scared driver. I went from being petrified to put my foot on the gas to passing my road test.

Fantastic experience: My daughter recently had driving lessons with Mitch. Mitch was excellent with my daughter. He was calm, very patient and made my daughter feel very comfortable behind the wheel. She was very anxious about driving, but Mitch helped her become more confident. She took the road test yesterday, and passed on the first try! We will definitely be using Twin County again, and requesting Mitch as the instructor.

Fantastic experience: Awesome facility I recommend very highly. Kathy and Mitch are the best!!!! Mitch is an excellent instructor very patient and Kathy is just amazing. She did the impossible and got evan another road test within a week so he could pass before we moved to Florida. Excellent customer service. You will not be disappointed

Fantastic experience: My son took lessons with Alex and worked with Alex to prepare for his toad test. I can not say enough of good things about him! He was absolutely wonderful. He made my son feel comfortable and taught him to drive. Alex is a very professional, courteous, and engaging young man and I was so impressed by him and his work ethic. I would definitely recommend him as an instructor - you can’t go wrong.

Fantastic experience: I passed my road test the first try! I took lessons with Donna Hermann I highly recommended her!! She is very thorough and has helped me become a great driver! She is very patient, works with your needs and abilities and will teach you the most efficient ways to pass the test!

Negative experience: Well. A driver from the twin county driving school parked over 20 min blocking my driveway( active 2 cars could be seen in lot still at our office) the back tire was over the driveway curb & trunk taking 3-4 ft of room too. Idk why she sat there so long either to get Chinese food? We have a narrow gate to get out of , would have had to go into oncoming lane to get around this car. We have sign” Do Not Block Driveway! She didn’t use a signal to pull off curb when leaving on to New York ave during rush hour? No wonder drivers are so bad & breaking laws( 1 being Do Not Block DrivewAys) must use signal when entering or switching lanes? I’d rather have someone who practices good driving habits to teach me or my grandchildren. Be more concise rate please !! Follow rules of road!!!

Fantastic experience: 4 lessons ago I had extreme road anxiety, and was not confident after failing my first road test. But with Mitch, he eliminated all of my fears of being on the road. He boosted my confidence, and now because of him I have my license. Thank you Mitch & Twin County!

Fantastic experience: I took drivers ed with Donna last winter but when COVID happened our classes were cancelled. We called her to continue private lessons and I passed on the first try! I was a really nervous driver at first but she made me so confident and totally prepared me for the road test. She covered every possible scenario and I’m so happy I did it!

Fantastic experience: First off, I am not one to write reviews, either good or bad. But I am so impressed with this place that I felt so compelled to give them some praise. When I spoke to the women on the phone, initially, I explained to her that I needed an instructor with patience and compassion for a “new and nervous” first time driver. She told me I have the guy. Boy, she didn’t disappoint. Mitch, the instructor, came over the next day. I waited for my daughter to give me her opinion. She “loved him”. She said he was patient, respectful and so nice He taught me how to parallel park a different way then they showed me in drivers Ed. He made it so easy. I thought it was just him being nice on the first lesson. But after every lesson my daughter sung his praises. He told her when she should take the test and where. Well, TODAY SHE PASSED HER DRIVING TEST!! We are so happy and would highly recommend this driving school. Professionalism at its peak. Thanks again.

Fantastic experience: My wife had tried a few driving schools and was not happy with them because the instructors would ask her to drive and not pay attention. Alex at Twin County was very attentive, paid close attention and told my wife every single detail that needed to be worked on. He gave her the confidence and knowledge she needed to pass the road test. I strongly recommend asking for Alex at Twin County Driving School.

Negative experience: I don't even have to go to the school to know that it would be terrible driving behind a I'm assuming an instructor in one of the cars driving so close to a garbage truck in front of her she had to keep slamming on the brakes n nnot stopping at stop sign...I wouldn't want her teaching anyone I know she needs to learn how to drive safely

Fantastic experience: Took a driving lesson today with buket. I was nervous but it turned out to be a wonderful experience. She is so sweet and informative and is so adept at teaching. I would recommend this school to everyone. Took my 5 hour course here too and all the people who work there are very helpful and nice. Thank you twin county for making this a pleasant experience !

Fantastic experience: I'm an adult who recently passed my driving test all because of Twin County. I took my 5 Hour class here as well as private lessons. Mitch is the best instructor; he's attentive, patient and kind. Definitely recommend doing all your learning through Twin County!

Fantastic experience: I took drivers education through my school but honestly it didn’t help me much for me to be able to pass my road test. About one to two months after drivers education ended, I had my road test scheduled. During that time, I was not able to practice driving at all and I was completely unconfident with my driving. Two days before my road test, I took a driving lesson with the instructor Steve, and he was amazing. He taught me tricks on how to parallel park and I tried my best to remember. The date of my road test, I had a driving lesson with Steve again prior to the test and I felt much more confident in my driving and actually felt I could pass! My road test was less than 10 minutes... and I passed, with no points off!!! Steve is an amazing instructor! Thank you Twin County:)

Positive experience: Took the six hours safety course here. The course is no fun anywhere but I'd rather take it locally then go into Huntington or Hauppauge. They are detail oriented not fly by night.
