Our comment from DrivingSchools.Directory about Austin Driving School:
Austin Driving School aims to provide a comprehensive and supportive learning environment for aspiring drivers, although experiences may vary significantly based on individual interactions. Many students have praised the skilled instructors, particularly Mr. Richard PeeVee, for his patient and thorough teaching methods, which have helped them pass their driving tests successfully. The staff at the Bryan location is frequently described as friendly and personable, making the learning process feel comfortable and engaging.
However, there have been concerns regarding the overall organization and management of the school. Reviews highlight issues with scheduling, long waiting times for driving appointments, and inconsistent customer service, particularly from one secretary, Hailey, who has received negative feedback for her demeanor. While some customers have had great experiences with staff members, others have reported rudeness and unprofessionalism at the front desk.
Despite these challenges, many appreciate the quality of classroom instruction and the dedication of most instructors. If you are seeking driving education at Austin Driving School, be prepared for a mixed bag of experiences, but know that many students have found value in their time here.
- Positive Aspects:
- Skilled and friendly instructors
- Engaging and informative classroom sessions
- Many students have successfully passed their tests
- Areas for Improvement:
- Inconsistent customer service
- Scheduling issues and long waiting times
- Need for better staff professionalism
Austin Driving School: Reviews
Negative experience: Hailey is the face of the Austin Driving School as secretary of the Bryan, TX location. She will absolutely give your student the Heisman as if they are on the bad-boy list. She controls the schedule and will only let you schedule one driving session for the following month after each lesson, ensuring that you cannot complete the driving portion of the course in less than eight months. This location is desperate for driving instructors and sorely needs a good scheduler to replace Hailey.
Negative experience: Hailey is going to single-handedly ruin this place. Everyone else there is friendly. Hailey is rude to everyone, including the people that work there. She argues with co-workers in front of kids and customers. Totally unprofessional. She refuses to schedule driving sessions per corporate policy. Everyone else is nice and helpful and the information they give out is correct and helpful. If you need to schedule driving time, others in the office can help you so ask for anyone but Hailey if you want good customer service and accurate information.
Fantastic experience: Had a great experience with the road test. The instructor Richard is a very professional person.
Negative experience: Corporate was horrible as they were hostile over the phone and even hung up on me. The people working in person at the Bryan office are not any better. They misguided me in getting my license removed. I AM STILL WORKING ON TRYING TO GET MY REFUND!!!! DO NOT GO HERE!!!! GO TO DPS!!! (now I see why people don't work here for too long...)
Negative experience: Very unprofessional and unorganized. Scheduled to do a “drive test “ , instructor was very rude and unprofessional before I even got in the vehicle , so I didn’t take the test , and requested a refund . Take your money else where , this place is cheaper but they lack professionalism and respect .
Fantastic experience: Friendly staff, great experience my sister just passed her driving test...
Fantastic experience: Had my driving test here. Great experience.

Fantastic experience: Great people to deal with! Instructors, testers and the lady up front made the whole process so easy!!! Highly recommend!
Thank you for the 5-star review! We're thrilled that you found our instructors, testers, and front desk staff to be great and the whole process easy. We appreciate your recommendation and look forward to serving you and others in the future. Safe travels! - Austin Driving School
Positive experience: Pretty good, kinda boring sometimes but very easy to learn.
Negative experience: Instructors are good but poor service. High efficiency to take your payment but they do not have enough instructors. They just simply cancel your current appointments and you need to wait for two months for two lessons.
Negative experience: Can't even remember how long it's been since I enrolled my son. Did class time.....still waiting on driving time. Try to call, no one answers. He will be 18 before they even bother with him i guess. I want my money back...but wait....no i can't get that.
Positive experience: Edit: After a series of calls, they finally issued a check to refund me. I changed my review from 1 star to this. Original post: I got charged for a written test appointment that I cancelled ahead of time because I ended up doing it at the DPS. After calling them several times, I still haven’t gotten my money back since last year. Every time we called them, they ask for the same info and promise to get back to us but never do. We feel stuck in a loop, and we are tired of keeping this on the to-do list. Terrible management and customer support! Don’t give your money to an irresponsible business that scams your money.
Negative experience: Before you pay for 2 hours just know that they'll use up half of that time to show up 15 minutes late, take a 30 minute break for phone calls and then end the session 15 minutes early.
Fantastic experience: From the second I walked through the door I knew I was in good hands. Professional outlook in a friendly informative delivered manner. I completed the 6 hour on-site class which was very informative & I learned a lot which gave me confidence taking my knowledge to the road. I really feel with the knowledge I have gained that I will be a better Driver for years to come. Thank you ADS
Fantastic experience: These folks were great. I made an appointment for a DPS driving test and they handled everything for me very professionally. When I came in for my appointment they got me in and out very quickly and the instructor was very polite and informative. He talked me through entire test and explained everything to insure I would pass and sure enough I did! After I finished I got my paperwork and was out the door all in about 30 minutes. Thank you Austin Driving School for a great experience!
Negative experience: My child started driving school last summer. My child finished the driver education and written test last summer. It is now January the following year. We are unable to finish the driving hours with an instructor because of the school's poor communication. They never answer the phone. When they do answer the phone they tell you they have a list & will call to schedule and they never call. Months and months go by and still no call. I reviewed this company once before and it appears my review was deleted. I would not recommend this company to my worst enemies or anyone else. Please do not waste your time with this place
Fantastic experience: Sheila and the guys at the local office are absolutely amazing, very helpful and patient. Penny and Michelle at the "corporate office" were rude, Michelle said she would call me back and hung up without getting my name or phone number, Penny was aweful she said she couldn't schedule my appointment without a credit card, I said I had to run in the back, i called back not even 4 minutes an she told me the spot was gone and she couldn't schedule a different appointment because she didn't have the schedule because someone else was using it. When I asked her when she would have the schedule she said she didn't know and hung up. I went into the local office for help and Shield was able to take my payment and schedule my daughters appointment for the original time Penny said was taken. I'm giving 5 stars for the local office on 29th Street in Bryan, Tx. If I was rating corporate it would be a big Fat 0. Thank you to the local office
Fantastic experience: Very easy
Fantastic experience: It's open to public.
Negative experience: after saving a year in order for my son to do drivers education prior to starting his senior year in high school, it's been so difficult to reach the Bryan location , but was not difficult to get them to take my $400 payment, if you know you are short staffed and cannot schedule the driving time slots why take payments and start the course, if I knew this I would not have even used Austin Driving School. We started this process in June and it is now 2 wks prior to school starting and we are still juggling to get in the driving hours with the school. Classroom completed in June.
Fantastic experience: I got my license here in 2019 and the instructor Mr.Peevie was the kindest most patient teacher. I’ve had some really bad experiences at driving school that actually made me just avoid getting my license for years. I really did learn a lot from him. Also I can’t express how convenient and nice it was to be able to take your driving test there. I liked it so much I wish my little sister could go too but we live in Houston.
Positive experience: Instructor liked to talk about his personal experlences
Positive experience: I called to ask a simple question and as I was asking, the lady was not understanding what I was saying and just kept interrupting me. She started getting an attitude and talked to me like I was stupid. Overall not a great first impression. On the other hand, the driving instructor that I took the test with was very nice.
Fantastic experience: The instructor Mr Peevie was god sent. The staff and everyone. Everyone made me feel I was important
Fantastic experience: PV was very professional. The classroom was clean and proper social distancing was in place. I will be back for my road test and the defensive driving.
Thank you Kane for your 5 star review. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed your experience with school.
Fantastic experience: The Ladies in Bryan are Superstars and took great care of my 3 kids that attended driving there. They were always so cool and made me feel like family!!! My baby boy the last of my crew is testing for driving on Tuesday I was always so delighted to go into Bryan office with the ladies and instructors!! I will miss you all!!
Fantastic experience: My son took driver's ed and his driving test at the Bryan location. It was a GREAT experience. Unfortunately, he turned 16 during the COVID shutdown so he wasn't able to take his test on his birthday. However, they put him on a list and as soon as they opened for testing, they called and scheduled him. He aced the test because of how well the driving instructors prepared him. The office staff even went out of their way to prepare us a new packet for a DPS appointment after I mailed the first one to Austin DPS HQ and didn't hear anything back after two months. I owe it to the Bryan office staff for my son's 16th summer not being completely ruined! I would totally recommend the Bryan Austin Driving School to anyone who thinks their kid would learn better from someone else.
Negative experience: Because I called them today and last monday and they said they will call me when there done calling everyone else havent been able to schedule driving hours
Negative experience: Absolutely the worst customer service you can ever experience. Spend your money with anyone else that has better Professionalism. Only gave one star because it's a lowest that Google allows.
Fantastic experience: Nice and very helpful staff and workers willing to help students
Negative experience: Allowed very young children to run around during the entire class screaming and yelling. Terrible place to try and learn to drive. Would not recommend
Fantastic experience: Take your drivers test here! I didn't take drivers ed here so I can't vouch for that, but I took my drivers test here and it was a positive experience! I took my test with Mr. Peevey and he was really kind, explained exactly how the test was going to go, was very clear with directions and was more concerned with helping me improve my driving skills than just passing things off on a sheet.
Fantastic experience: I am 25 and have not done much driving. I took the adult drivers ed class. It was the easiest class in the world to pass. Very well explained. I advise taking notes during this portion of the program. Today I went in and took my driver's test with Mr. Richard Peevy. He is an awesome instructor and evaluator. Not too hard on the students and very easy to get along. Thank you Austin Driving School you just made the one thing I have looked forward to my whole life come true. Love y'all!
Negative experience: The 2 females at the front desks are rude, unprofessional, and racist.
Fantastic experience: Great people, great service, and very helpful
Negative experience: Was thinking of me and my husband take a defense driving course to lower our insurance rates but, with the comments about unprofessional staff and rude attitudes we'll take our money and business elsewhere. The staff needs to know that without customers they'll have no job and paycheck coming!!!
Negative experience: Poor service at the front desk, they advertise having a pick up van but was never operational the entire time my son was there. That was the main reason we chose them. We live in College Station and payed more for this school because of the pick up van. When asked about the van I was given attitude and mean looks as to why I would even ask about it. Very disorganized and the ladies at the front are rude. I will not ever recommend this school and thinking about reporting them to B.B.B. False advertising. Funny that you say pick ups were still being made. When I asked that question the rude lady with tattoos told me no pick ups would be made. That it was not her problem that the person who fixes the fans mother died. Not passed away DIED, and that it was on me to get my son there.
You are correct, the van was not operational during your son's session, but we were still picking up students in the company cars during your this session. If you need any further assistance, you are welcome to reach the corporate office at 979.846-4308.
Fantastic experience: Very good and understanding examiner who wants you to drive safe and follow every rule! If you need a driving test or instruction this is the place.
Negative experience: The two ladies at the front desk are the rudest people I have encountered in my life. Right when i walked in one of them was rolling her eyes at me. Also one of the driving instructors Benny, was extremely rude. When driving with him he would get angry when you did something wrong and not even help you unlike the other instructors which were very nice. Mr. Peevee on the other hand was the nicest person ever he made me feel very comfortable when taking my test and was very patient. So many good things to say about him. Other than that this place deserves zero stars very rude and unprofessional staff.
Negative experience: Extremely unprofessional office staff. Witnessed one of them put someone on hold only to have a snack and talk to the other one before answering a question about the schedule without ever checking it. Most of the driving instructors are good, except for one that has brought several students to tears while confusing them with nonsense. If you are in need of a timely course completion, this is not the place for you. They are extremely understaffed for the number of students they enroll. We had to eventually drive to the Waco office (which is an excellent office) to complete course and take test. This was 6 weeks after my child’s 16th birthday (the class was started 1 year earlier). Would definitely take my business elsewhere if I had it to do again.
Fantastic experience: Just took my driver’s license test there. The examiner is so nice and welcoming. There was no pressure during the test and the examiner gave me a lot of confidence. Thank you so much!
Negative experience: The place is understaffed and has poor service. The classroom instruction and in car instructors are the only reason to go there.
Fantastic experience: The girls are helpful and funny
Negative experience: I WENT TO THIS PLACE TO GET INFO FOR MY DAUGHTER AND ENROLL HER AND WAS GREETED WITH A VERY UNPROFESSIONAL AND EXTREMELY RUDE CUSTOMER SERVICE.. I DONT KNOW IF IT WAS THE BLANK AND AWKWARD NASTY STARE OR THE HEAVY SIGHING AND EYE ROLLING THAT PISSED ME OFF THE MOST AND HAS ME SEARCHING FOR OTHER PLACES.. I REALLY WANTED TO EXIT WITH SLAPPING THAT WITCH IN THE FACE BUT THAT WOULDNT SOLVE ANYTHING AND SHE STILL WOULD BE THE SAME NASTY UNPROFESSIONAL B***H THAT SHE IS.. SHE WILL MEET THE RIGHT ONE ON THE RIGHT DAY.. I WILL NOT BE RETURNING AND I REALLY WANTED TO MEET THE INSTRUCTOR I HEARD HE WAS GREAT....(FYI GET MORE HELPFUL AND FRIENDLIER STAFF FOR FRONT DESK)
Fantastic experience: i only had to take the on road driving lessons and driving part of the test, not only did the instructors make me feel comfortable with conversation and non condemning criticism, but were very helpful when i came into trouble with an aspect or manuever. and the main instructor I had came with me to my test and allowed me to use their car for my state test and got excited with me when I passed. i would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for driving lessons. thank you Mr. peevy and Matthew!!!!
Negative experience: My son went here to get information on road tests since the DMV was backed up for months with scheduling. He was never acknowledged when he went in and 2 female slobs at the front... 1 was tattooed eating at the desk and both were mean mugging. I don’t know what they finally said when he said “excuse me I just have a question..” He came out going off and the old guy outside walking with a student was like “what did you have a question about?!” We left and called and reported them. Trash trash trash.
Fantastic experience: I took an intermediate learning lesson and it was really helpful.
Fantastic experience: Very nice instructor and excellent test taking method. The testing official is very calm and helps you drive with calm nerves. Very nice teaching and excellent testing. The officials are a little slow but REALLY NICE. Worth it.
Negative experience: The two women who are there to serve customers are very rude. They have no interest in helping you.
Fantastic experience: great place to take your test
Positive experience: Awesome learning experience with veteran driver Richard PeeVee.. 5 stars and many thanks to him for his efforts to get the best driver out of you which helps in passing Driving Test at College Station.. He was simply too good and had answers to all my smallest of the driving questions
Negative experience: Not even worthy of 1 star. A few months back, me and my mom went there because she wants to learn how to drive but they old guy/the one responsible for giving actual drivings test started shouting like crazy. He was saying there are no openings for certain dates and they are fully booked. You don't have to shout, we're not deaf and rude like you. I guess we should have listened to the my neighbors who warned us of they rude person. Don't be a victim go somewhere else.
Positive experience: I had a very pleasant experience at Austin Driving School while taking the Adult Driver's course. I have to give a huge Thank You to Mr. Richard PeeVee and Bennie's son for teaching me a lot about driving. When they arrive they greet you warmly, in a professional manner and they start you off driving in the driver's seat on your first lesson! I felt safe driving and learned a lot about vehicle control, driving safely and avoiding accidents. After your lesson is over they drop you off at work or back home wherever your destination may be. I hope that they continue teaching students in a very positive and professional manner. - L.O.
