Saddleback Rider Training: Reviews
Fantastic experience: Rated beginners and intermediate: 1. Beginners: WILL pay itself off, too much to lose without proper theory, and without beginners range work. Instructors really good with all the necessary exercises, pulling off, turning in different curves at different speeds, breaking, swerving, slow riding in tight spaces, and counter steering, plus tons of safety tips. Nice people. committed to giving a good experience, there is effort made to give the students as much as possible, no corner cutting, wish I had done this before riding my first honda scooter, now prepared for my 500 cc, stay safe guys! (bring water/snacks is a good idea) 2. Intermediate course. What seemed as an add on actually turned out to be a REAL treasure of a course. Michael Cicerone is an AMAZING instructor, takes the group thru slides/theory and on course exercises that stretch you a bit but takes your understanding to next level, he instructs gently but effectively! A must add on, and after the course, Michael teaches all kinds of skills privately and prepares one to improve the art and skill of riding!
Thanks for the great review! We're thrilled you found the course so valuable and appreciate your feedback on the instructors and comprehensive training. Ride safe!
Fantastic experience: I couldn’t have asked for a better experience learning how to be safe, ride and operate a Motorcycle. From evasive maneuvers to roperating the clutch and leaning into turns, these were some of the things I was most nervous about coming into riding as an absolute beginner and the Staff with patience and care made sure I came out of this weekend with a strong foundation in rider streets skills and knowledge. Whether you have zero experience in motorcycling like myself or have had some experience I heavily recommend you jump on the weekend beginner course, take advantage of the discount on Insurance rates and have an absolute blast with your classmates & staff vigorously doing exercises on the Saddleback College Campus parking lot together, do it with a friend or go by yourself, you will 100% come out this course with a strong sense of confidence, friends and memories. I will most definitely be back for the Intermediate training once I pick up my first Bike. [By the way the beginner course waives the DMV riding test ;)]
Fantastic experience: I took this motorcycle riding class as someone who had always wanted to ride but lacked the necessary experience. One of the best things about this class is that it counts for the driving portion at the DMV, and you also get an insurance break for completing the course. The instructors were amazing, and they taught me the fundamentals of riding while prioritizing my safety. The course was repetitive, and I got a bit nervous and anxious on the final day. However, my instructors were incredibly helpful and provided me with the support I needed to overcome my fears. Angel, one of the instructors, even demonstrated one of the courses on the second day, even though we had already completed it. Despite my progress, I was still struggling, but Angel’s reassurance and encouragement helped me get back on track. Akbar, the other instructor, was also instrumental in helping me calm down and overcome my anxiety. On the second day, I was stalling and realized that my clutch was engaging in second gear. I had all the confidence on the first day, but I was overwhelmed by anxiety on the second day. Akbar’s advice of taking four breaths in and four breaths out helped me regain my composure. I’m not one to give up easily, but I was so embarrassed that I considered quitting. However, Akbar’s kindness, helpfulness, and genuine care for my well-being helped me overcome my doubts and finish the course. Don’t let his 6’3” stature intimidate you; he’s a great person who genuinely cares about his students.
Fantastic experience: Great motorcycle training experience. Amazing staff. Enjoyed the process.
Fantastic experience: George and Joey was amazing. They were patient and gave good criticism.
Fantastic experience: Excellent skills and training. Highly recommend for a beginner.
Fantastic experience: I highly recommend this course for anybody who is new to motorcycles or who has very little skills. The amount of information you learn from this course is very impressive. I also had a blast and learned a lot about bikes. Akbar george and Kieran are excellent when it comes to teaching so grab that bike gear and get started you won’t regret it!!
Fantastic experience: That place is awesome!! I was new to motorcycles before, and they were so patient and easy to us. They provide gear, prices are comparatively the cheapest, and they even gives you discount for following courses. If you yet don’t have you m1, this is the place to go.
Fantastic experience: This a great program. Learned a lot helped with basics. Lots of on bike training. Everyone knows what they’re talking about. Highly recommend.
Fantastic experience: I took the basic motorcycle class to waive the riding portion of my motorcycle requirement with George and Kai 1/4/25 to 1/5/25. For context, I took a similar program in New York City and passed the class at that time. I didn't end up getting my license at that time because I didn't have time to sit for the written test or make it to the DMV due to my busy schedule. Overall, the Saddleback Riding class is excellent and I highly recommend it to anyone looking to take a CMSP class. The whole operation is very professionally run and I feel that the instructors taught me how to ride a motorcycle safely. I didn't complete my online courses 2 days before the class and someone from the company called me to confirm that if I didn't finish the classes I wouldn't be able to participate in the class. The person who called me was really nice and professional. In comparison several students showed up to my NYC class and they were simply turned away when they didn't complete the online classes. George and Kai were also excellent instructors. They were really nice, super professional, and didn't ship in any of the exercises. I was always shocked on what they were able to pick up on when we were discussing what I had done during an exercise (i.e. "did you really downshift a full gear?" turns out I only made it to neutral and not 1st gear). Again by comparison in my other course I often heard the instructors saying to the students, "why can't you do this?" Also by comparison, in my NYC course we primarily spent the weekend working on slow speed maneuvers in 1st gear and riding the clutch. However, Saddleback Rider Training has a more wholistic approach to riding safely. George and Kai taught us essential body positioning and safety techniques that may not be so obvious and rarely explicitly discussed, but ESSENTIAL for safe riding. Little things like appropriate hand positioning (left hand covers clutch and right hand on throttle and NOT the brake) really helped make my riding smoother and safer, and the instructors were full of these riding pearls. Also they have a pretty good selection of bikes. There were Honda Groms, Honda Rebels, Suzuki 250 street and dual sport bikes, and even a Honda CB 250. All of the bikes were in pretty good working condition. In summary-- If you are looking for a CMSP and need to learn basic riding skills to ride smoothly and safely, I strongly recommend Saddleback. It's a very good program and worth your time.
Fantastic experience: I took the beginner course with my husband before the holidays and was incredibly pleased with the instructors and the overall operation of SRT. I had personally never ridden a motorcycle or dirtbike in my life before taking the course and the instructors patience, kindness, and guidance made it less overwhelming and incredibly constructive for me. On the first day we had George and Glenn instructing the group - and the following day was George and Akbar. All three of them did an incredible job instilling safety and tips to make me feel more comfortable and confident to ride safely on a bike. Expanding upon what you learn in the online course, and showing/explaining techniques and maneuvers, by the end I felt I could competently execute what I had learned. While all three were phenomenal, George helped me personally when he could tell I was overthinking things on the first day. I now feel that I have a good foundation to begin my motorcycle journey and improve on my skills. My husband and I definitely plan on coming back for an intermediate course to further improve after we do some more riding. I highly recommend SRT to anyone looking to get into riding or improve upon their skills. The group setting on top of personalized advice and coaching made this the perfect setting to learn and grow!
Fantastic experience: The course is great for all levels of riders, I had a great time at the course and the instructor Carl was great he was really patient and very knowledgeable. If your trying to get started on your motorcycle journey this is the place to come. I recommend to give it a try , btw the course was really fun.
Fantastic experience: Excellent Motorcycle School! I want to express my immense gratitude to Saddleback for their professionalism and personalized approach to teaching. The instructors are true experts who can explain even the most complex concepts in an easy-to-understand way. The practice sessions on the training grounds are perfectly organized: all the exercises are logically structured and help you gradually build confidence on the motorcycle. I especially want to highlight the instructors’ patience and attention to detail. Every mistake is analyzed, and their helpful tips make it easier to master riding techniques. Even if you’ve never been on a motorcycle before, they’ll teach you everything you need for safe and confident riding. Thank you for your support, friendly atmosphere, and a wealth of valuable knowledge! Now I can confidently say that I’m ready to hit the road. I highly recommend this school to anyone who wants to learn how to ride a motorcycle!
Negative experience: One of the worst motorcycle training companies in the area. Strongly recommend taking your business elsewhere. The training is a joke, the people running the trainings are complete morons.
We're very sorry to read your review and that you had such a negative experience with our motorcycle training. We take all feedback seriously, especially when it highlights areas where we've fallen short. We strive to provide high-quality training and it's clear we missed the mark with you.
We would sincerely appreciate the opportunity to discuss your specific concerns and understand what happened during your training. We want to learn from this and take corrective action.

Fantastic experience: I recently completed the motorcycle safety course at Saddleback Rider Training and it was an amazing experience. I was initially nervous but the hands-on training with the bikes was so helpful. There were plenty of bike options to practice on. Safety is their top priority and the instructors are very attentive, making sure to see each student individually, even in a large group. Akbar & Akbar were fantastic instructors. They were patient, answered all my questions, and demonstrated everything thoroughly. They made everything clear and easy to understand. The class was top-notch, highly recommend! My family and friends also had a great experience here. It's a definite ten out of ten, and I'll definitely be returning for more training. Plus, there's a very sweet golden retriever named Ben who helps check you in when you first start :). I look forward to returning soon. I have a better understanding of what a motorcycle is, what kind of machine it is, how it works, and how to ride safely. I know what to do in various circumstances and any hazards that may arise. I now have a better understanding of what to do in a situation if anything goes wrong. I'm so happy to know that I can feel safe now on the streets because of everything I have learned during this course. They taught me so much, and I feel very confident and prepared. Thank you Akbar and Ivan!!!
Wow! Thank you so much for this incredible review! We're absolutely thrilled to hear you had such a positive experience at Saddleback Rider Training. It means the world to us that you found the hands-on training, bike options, and our instructors so helpful.
We're especially happy to hear that Akbar and Ivan made your experience so enjoyable and that you feel more confident and prepared to ride safely on the streets. That's our ultimate goal! We strive to make safety our top priority and ensure each student receives individual attention, even in larger groups.
Negative experience: Terrible course. Took this about a month ago and it did little to no help with preparing me for the DMV exam. They don’t even give you a DMV motorcycle handbook. Take this course somewhere else!!!!!!
Congratulations on completing the program and receiving your DL389! We understand you felt our course didn't adequately prepare you for the DMV written exam, and we're sorry to hear that.
We want to clarify our course's focus. Our primary objective is to teach safe riding practices and strategies, equipping new riders with the fundamental skills needed to operate a motorcycle safely. We are a motorcycle safety course designed to teach people how to ride. The DL389 you received allows you to waive the riding portion of the DMV test, a significant benefit of completing our program.
While we don't provide a physical copy of the DMV handbook, we do provide a link to the official DMV motorcycle handbook in the information we send upon registration. We also verbally remind students at the end of training about the requirement to take the DMV written test and encourage them to review the handbook provided via the link. It's crucial for all riders to study the official DMV materials in preparation for the written exam, as those materials contain specific local traffic laws and regulations.
We appreciate your feedback and will review our communication process to ensure this information, particularly the distinction between the riding test waiver and the required written test, is even clearer to all students.
Fantastic experience: Worth every penny. Ivan and Glen were awesome. It was fun. I took a lot away from this class. I felt 10x more comfortable on my own motorcycle the next ride after taking this course. Highly recommend these guys!
Thank you so much for your kind words and recommendation! We're thrilled to hear that you enjoyed the class and found it valuable. Helping riders feel more comfortable and confident on their own bikes is exactly what we aim for. It was a pleasure working with you, and we’re glad you had fun, too! Ride safe, and don’t hesitate to reach out if you need anything in the future. Happy riding! ️. Update as of 12/25 - Congratulations! You've won our November giveaway for an intermediate riding class. We apologize for the slight delay in announcing the winner, but we're thrilled to share the good news. Please contact our office to register. We look forward to seeing you there.
Fantastic experience: This Rider Training is stellar! The online course is incredible and so well designed and the instructors were great! Anyone who is serious about riding should take this class.
Thank you for the amazing feedback! We’re thrilled to hear you enjoyed the online course and found it well-designed. We put a lot of effort into making the training comprehensive and enjoyable, and it’s fantastic to know it made a positive impact. We couldn’t agree more—rider safety and skill-building are essential, and we’re here to support every step of the way. Thanks for recommending us, and happy riding! Have fun on your Honda XL!
Fantastic experience: Completed the beginner course last weekend and I had so much fun. I grew up riding dirt bikes and just recently got the courage to get a street legal bike. I am somewhat comfortable on a motorcycle but I am so glad I went and took this course. I learned SO MUCH and honestly had a great time. George was one of our instructors and he was patient and encouraging and taught us so much. Big thank you to Glen for running such a great training program, and to George for being a great instructor!!
Thank you, Stevi! We’re so glad you had a great time and found the course valuable. It’s awesome to hear you’re enjoying street riding, and we’re thrilled George could make the experience even better for you. Ride safe and enjoy the journey! ️
Fantastic experience: 100/10 would recommend this course to anyone who is looking to pick up a motorcycle or even just experience just for a weekend. Huge thank you to instructors Angel and Ivan for being great at what they do and sharing their passion for motorcycles to the class.
Thank you so much! We’re thrilled to hear you enjoyed the course, and Angel and Ivan will be glad to know they made a difference. Ride on! ️
Negative experience: Failed the course here cause apparently I hit the cones when I didn’t but passed the DMV skill test next day on Harley save your money people go somewhere else…
We’re sorry to hear about your experience and understand your frustration. Just to clarify, hitting cones alone wouldn’t result in a fail, and we’re committed to making sure every rider feels prepared and confident. We’d be happy to offer you a chance to retake the course on us—whether it’s both days or just Sunday. There’s also an option, though less recommended, to retake just the riding test. Please reach out so we can help make this right and support you on your riding journey!
Fantastic experience: My wife and I attended a rider training event last weekend. I have years of experience on a motorcycle and my wife was learning how to ride for the first time. I figured I would simply come along to support her and along the way found that I was not nearly as good as I thought I was on a motorcycle. Ivan and George were the perfect balance between accountability and hope for my wife and I. I hope to support this group of people in the future by not only referring first time riders but experience riders to check their skills and find something new that you may not be doing to keep you safe . The art of keeping riders safe and still having fun is a tricky thing that they make incredibly easy.
Thank you so much! We’re thrilled both you and your wife had such a positive experience. Ivan and George are fantastic at balancing safety with fun, and it’s wonderful to hear that even experienced riders like you found value in the course. We appreciate your support and referrals—ride safe and keep enjoying the journey! ️
Fantastic experience: Got trained by Micheal today on a 1 day premier. The guy really showed that he cared by being consistent with the training and knowledge. Appreciate the help and look forward to going to the intermediate course.
Thanks for the feedback! We're glad Michael's dedication and consistent training made a real impact. We appreciate your commitment to growing your skills and are excited to support you on your riding journey. Ride safe!
Fantastic experience: I took the basic training course and only have good things to say. The instructors are awesome and there are great skills and knowledge to be learned throughout the course. Definitely recommend taking it. Worth the time and money to feel more confident on the bike.
Thank you so much for your kind words! We’re delighted to hear that you had such a positive experience in the basic training course. Our instructors truly love what they do, and it’s wonderful to know that their expertise helped you gain confidence on the bike.
We appreciate your recommendation and are thrilled you found the course to be a worthwhile investment. Happy riding, and we hope to see you again soon for more training! Keep the shiny side up!
Fantastic experience: Heres my experience back in 2018. This was my first time riding. I took the beginner course and I had a really great time! Doc was our classroom instructor for the first day. He taught us the ins and outs of motorcycling and prepared us for the remaining parts of the course. Leaving the class, I felt I learned a tremendous amount and felt competent on the different techniques, despite the mumbling. Carl and Ted were my instructors for Saturday and Sunday. They were hilarious! They walked through everything at a digestible pace and made the experience very fun and memorable. I just want to thank them because they have build a great foundation for me to improve my riding ability. You will be lucky to have these two! If you are looking to get started on your M1, this is the place to go! They have great instructors who are all very knowledgeable and interesting! You can't go wrong with SRT! Hoping to come back to take more advanced courses :)!
Thank you for sharing your experience from 2018! We’re thrilled to hear that your first time riding was such a positive one. It’s fantastic to know that Doc, Carl, and Ted made a lasting impression and helped build a strong foundation for your skills.
We pride ourselves on having knowledgeable and engaging instructors, and it’s great to hear that they made the learning process both fun and memorable for you. Your recommendation means a lot to us!
We look forward to welcoming you back for more advanced courses in the future. Happy riding!
Fantastic experience: Saddleback Rider Training offers a beginner-intermediate motorcycle course led by knowledgeable and experienced instructors. Glenn, the owner, and his son, Joey, provide a supportive and encouraging learning environment. The program's focus on individual needs and a non-judgmental approach makes it accessible to riders of all levels. One of the standout features of Saddleback Rider Training is they do provide riding gear if needed. The class structure, with two instructors per twelve riders, ensures personalized attention. While the parking lot setting offers a controlled environment for skill development, there may be times when more open space is desirable for certain exercises. Regarding the motorcycles used for training, Saddleback Rider Training makes amazing efforts to maintain them in good condition. However, it is important to note that due to the nature of the course and the varied experience levels of participants, some bikes may show signs of wear and tear. In a few instances, bikes did require replacement during the weekend due to mechanical issues.
Thank you for your thoughtful feedback on our beginner-intermediate motorcycle course! We’re delighted to hear that you found our instructors, Glen and Joey, supportive and that the non-judgmental approach made the program accessible for you.
Providing riding gear and maintaining a low instructor-to-student ratio are key aspects of our commitment to personalized attention and safety. We appreciate your insight regarding the parking lot setting; it helps us consider how we can enhance the learning experience further.
Your input is invaluable as we strive to create a positive environment for all riders. We hope to see you back at Saddleback for more training in the future!
Fantastic experience: Great courses (beginner - intermediate) offered catering to all skill levels. Starting out, many of us had fear of judgment or failure which maybe prevented us from giving it a shot in the first place. Troy and Angel led a great beginner's class, ultimately ensuring that everyone would succeed and no one was left behind Regardless of skill level, don't worry you won't be judged and only accepted here because everyone here (including the class itself) wants to see you succeed and will be cheering you on! Definitely returning for the intermediate class and others as recommended by the instructors as they had a great point : always be learning, and always be looking to improve. This is a great place to start; everyone starts somewhere
Thank you for your wonderful feedback! We’re thrilled to hear that Troy and Angel created a supportive environment for you in the beginner class. It’s fantastic to know that you felt encouraged and accepted throughout your journey. We believe in fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement, and we can’t wait to welcome you back for the intermediate class. Your commitment to growing as a rider is inspiring!
Fantastic experience: The best place you can find for learning how to ride! Definitely recommend it. Be patient and focus on the online courses so that you understand better on the range. The instructors are super friendly and know exactly what they were doing. Super helpful and will answer questions perfectly. Well, good luck guys and ride safe in the future!
Thank you for your fantastic recommendation! We’re so glad to hear you had a positive experience with our instructors and found the online courses helpful in preparing for the range. Our team is dedicated to ensuring that every student feels supported and informed. We appreciate your feedback and can’t wait to see you back for more riding lessons!
Fantastic experience: Awesome time learning and practicing riding skills under the guidance of Angel, Joey and George. I think it’s been said on another review that while you can attend this class as a true beginner, it’s better to come in having an idea/feel of how a motorcycle reacts to rider inputs - so that more focus can be put into bettering your bike safety and control. Regardless, even seasoned riders will walk away with more experience and skills after taking this course and those completely new will come out knowing how to navigate the road safely on two-wheels.
Thank you for sharing your experience! We’re thrilled to hear that you enjoyed learning with Angel, Joey, and George. Your insight about coming in with some basic knowledge is spot on; it helps maximize the focus on safety and control. We’re glad to know that both new and seasoned riders found value in the course. Your feedback is invaluable, and we look forward to seeing you again for more training!
Fantastic experience: Great group of instructors and the bikes to learn on are great. I recommend this to anyone learning or wanting to improve their riding.
Thank you so much for the recommendation! We're thrilled to hear that you had a great experience with our instructors and enjoyed the bikes. We’re always here to help riders of all levels improve their skills. Ride safe and we hope to see you again soon!
Fantastic experience: Excellent rider course. The instructors were so kind, patient and nonjudgmental. I felt extremely safe and well taught. Signing up was easy, the online course is great and the driving range in the parking lot was perfect size! They had about 5 groms, a few rebels and some other bikes (I rode the grom). They thoroughly explained each exercise and I felt I was being taught by expert riders. The experience was overall really fun, and I cannot wait to ride more! This is a must do class if you plan on riding safely! Thank you SRT!!
Thank you for the awesome review! We're so glad you had a positive experience and felt safe and well-taught. Our instructors work hard to create a welcoming and supportive environment, and it’s great to hear you enjoyed the Grom and the variety of bikes. We're thrilled you found the course fun and informative—safety is always our top priority! We can’t wait to see you out there riding confidently. Thanks again for recommending us!
Negative experience: Eh course was alright complete it but never got my certificate at the place so have to wait over a week to receive my certificate to even take the dmv test which is stupid they should give you a paper at the school when completed I won’t recommend go somewhere else
Dear Danny,
I hope this message finds you well. I understand your concerns regarding the delivery method of the DL-389 certification. While we typically expect the certification to arrive within 3-4 days, we advise allowing 7-10 days for processing. Unfortunately, we are unable to expedite the issuance of these certificates, as they are official documents that require approval from the CHP and DMV.
We appreciate your understanding regarding this matter, as it is beyond our control. On a positive note, it seems you were successful in the class, and we hope you found the strategies we provided helpful for your safety on the road.
Thank you for your patience, and safe driving!
Fantastic experience: Great experience at SRT!!! I just completed the beginner course at Saddleback Rider Training and can't recommend it enough. As someone who has only ridden dirt bikes a few times many many year ago, I was very nervous to get on a motorcycle but the instructors made me feel so comfortable and confident to ride. George, Glen, Angel and another that I can't recall their name are very knowledgeable, professional, and lucid in their teaching. By the end of the course I felt confident to get on a bike and ride the streets. I will definitely sign up for the intermediate or premier course that's offered in the future!
Hi
Thank you for sharing your wonderful experience at Saddleback Rider Training! We’re thrilled to hear that you felt comfortable and confident under the guidance of our instructors. George, Glen, Angel, and the rest of the team are truly dedicated to helping our students succeed, and it’s great to know their efforts made such a positive impact on your learning.
It’s exciting to hear you’re considering the intermediate or premier course in the future! We look forward to seeing you again and helping you continue your riding journey.
Safe travels and happy riding!
Fantastic experience: Saddleback Rider Training was an amazing experience. Saturday the class was in pouring rain. No one complained, and everyone did great! But that’s not why I am here!!! The owner is very relaxed and very nice. I was very nervous getting there but after just hearing him welcome other riders I could easily see his approach is perfect for this service. The other two instructors are amazing and because they are of different demographics (one is younger and one is a bit older) as a student you get two perspectives and they are both filled with knowledge, skill, and lots of patience!!! And that is what I want to emphasize, everyone has a lot of patience. Reviewing every opportunity to learn and become a more skilled rider is what they want the most. They are not there to fail people, but to educate, train, and keep each and everyone safe and relaxed. I cannot say enough good things about my experience and the school. I wish there was a way I could say more but then this review would become a book!!
So happy you enjoyed your experience! Glen and his team do an incredible job!
Fantastic experience: Absolutely awesome course! They provide the bikes and have gear if needed. Joey and George definitely take their time to make sure that you fully understand what is needed and how to be safe on the bike! I highly recommend and I will be taking the intermediate course next!
That's fantastic to hear! We're so glad you had an absolutely awesome experience with our course. We appreciate you highlighting that we provide bikes and gear, and we're especially pleased that Joey and George's instruction helped you feel confident and understand the necessary skills for safe riding. We're thrilled you're planning to take our intermediate course – we look forward to seeing you back! Thanks for the excellent review!
Fantastic experience: I attended my classes in September 2023. I had never ridden a motorcycle before I attended those classes. I liked the way information was delivered by instructors, comprehensive with the sense of humor. It makes you relax and absorb information more intensively. Overall I'd recommend this place to study for you motorcycle drive license. I have plans to take intermediate course next year. Unfortunatelly I don't remember names of my instructors. Sorry =)
We're so glad you had a great experience with our classes in September 2023, even as a complete beginner! We're happy to hear you found the instructors' delivery style, combining comprehensive information with a sense of humor, effective and conducive to learning. That's exactly what we aim for!
It's wonderful that you plan to take our intermediate course next year. We look forward to seeing you back! And no worries about not remembering the instructors' names – we're just happy they made a positive impact on your learning experience. We'll be sure to pass along your compliments to the team. Thanks for the recommendation!
Fantastic experience: My wife went to Palm Springs for a girls weekend with her high school friends, so I decided the only logical thing for me to do was to take the 2-day class and get my California motorcycle license! (Shhhhh, don't tell her.) I had ridden many years ago in my 20s, but learned a lot from both the online course and the skills course. The class had about 11 friendly people who ranged in experience from literally zero to advanced riders who finally wanted to go legal and get the license. All equipment including the motorcycle was included. Each day we had two highly experienced instructors. Everyone in the class passed the requirements, which was great. Safety is 100% vital, and this was stressed in both online and live classes. I recommend it highly.
We appreciate you choosing our course as your weekend activity! We're glad you found it a productive use of your time.
We're thrilled you had such a great experience with our 2-day course and that you learned so much, even with prior riding experience. It’s always good to refresh those skills (and ensure you're riding legally!). We're also happy to hear you enjoyed the company of your classmates, who represented a range of experience levels.
We appreciate you highlighting our focus on safety – it's a top priority for us.
Thanks for the high recommendation! We hope you enjoy many miles of riding with your newly acquired license.
Fantastic experience: A great beginner course that everyone should take before getting a license. Its about 10 hours over 2 days and goes through the basics of low speed throttle control, weaving, emergency stopping, cornering using SPAT technique, swerving, and general riding. George and Angel are absolutely professional and very good at focusing on each individual. One suggestion to get the most out of this class: practice using your bike beforehand. While this is a beginner class and the instructors are very good and patient, some students arrive at the course with no bike experience whatsoever - which is absolutely fine as they will learn so much during the 2 day course. Most people I was talking to at the course did not realize that you can go to the DMV whenever you want and take the written test before taking the course. If you take the written test you will get a permit that allows you to practice on the road (please don't!) and in parking lots with a few restrictions such as no highway, no passengers, and only during the daytime. This way you can learn how to use the clutch and brakes and upshift and downshift before you take the course. If you do this and then take the course you will get so much more out of the training. You will spend the two days learning great riding techniques instead of stalling and restarting your bike all day.
Fantastic experience: This course allowed me to be prepared to ride my motorcycle out on the streets. I went from not knowing how to ride a motorcycle to commuting on it to school and work everyday. Not only that, but it makes insurance cheaper. Instructors are nice and helpful and they have a wide range of bikes to use!
Fantastic experience: Would highly recommend this Saddleback Rider Training. They have a great team of instructors. Mark, Mo & George were amazing, knowledgeable, patient & did a good job explaining everything. The school has a great selection of street bikes to choose from as well.
Fantastic experience: I had a great experience in the 2-day basic course with instructors Mo and Angel. They provided helpful, technical advice/feedback and were patient with everyone. Having 0 previous riding experience, I feel like I walked away from the course with a solid understanding of basic riding skills and an initial level of comfort to get started. I feel like I got my time and moneys worth from this course.
Fantastic experience: Took the course 20 odd years ago in another state and had to retake it as my license didn't transfer over. Mo and Angel were exceptional instructors. Very well versed in the subject, professional, personable, patient and fun to learn from. Highly recommend.
Fantastic experience: Having just completed this class over the weekend, I would highly recommend it to anyone who is interested in riding or wants to gain some confidence on a motorcycle. Instructors Mike and Joey were friendly, knowledgeable, and made the class fun not stressful. The small class size allowed consistent one on one instruction. I am already looking forward going back for the intermediate riding skills course.
Fantastic experience: 10/10 would recommend this course. I feel way more confident in my riding ability and learned tons of valuable lessons. I plan on coming back for the intermediate course asap. Joey was my favorite instructor. He went above and beyond to ensure everyone was having a good time and being safe. His humor made learning fun and enjoyable. Also John did a great job durning the online zoom class. Big thanks to the instructors I will definitely refer anyone I know to the class.
Fantastic experience: The instructors here loves their work and bring their brains here. Mike and Angel are doing great. Mike demo the low speed swing by clutch with his Kawasaki versys 1000.
Fantastic experience: The instruction was awesome and staff were nice! Very thorough and at a good pace for someone like me who had never been on a motorcycle. Would recommend it anyone wanting to learn how to ride.
Fantastic experience: Very patient and knowledgeable instructors. Great experience, worth the price for sure.
Fantastic experience: Highly recommended!! Glenn and John were excellent teachers. I came in with zero experience and left with confidence that I could comfortably get on a bike to ride locally and eventually will work up to freeway riding. Additionally, they prepare you well for the DMV’s test. Overall a terrific program.
Fantastic experience: 5 stars for the 1 day premiere class and 5 stars for our instructor Mike! I’ve ridden liter high performance bikes for well over a decade. I took the course with an open mind and willingness to learn and walked away with a lot more knowledge and confidence being passed on. I highly recommend the team here, good bunch of people with a mission to pass on safety, motorcycling enjoyment and improved confidence! ️
Fantastic experience: Awesome instructors. Great equipment. Very knowledgeable and kept the 12 of us safe. Scored a 97% on written. Thanks guys.
Fantastic experience: Good Instructors and very passionate
Negative experience: If you want to learn how to ride I strongly suggest finding a family or friend to teach you some basics then come to this class. One of the instructors was very rude, unprofessional, and agressive in his communication making it a very uninspiring and stressful environment. The course felt more like it was testing you than teaching you, so I would recommend any true first time rider to get comfortable with the basics before attending.
Fantastic experience: Hi Everyone! I passed California Motorcyclist Safety Program Motorcycle Training Course (CHP-sponsored California Motorcyclist Safety Course) ( class M1) 2 weeks ago. Teor program very well selected material, understandable. Practice was perfect , instructors tried their best to transmit and teach practical motorcycle riding skills. I want to note the deep professionalism of the instructors. Motorcycles and equipment are in good condition. When I passed this California Motorcyclist Safety Program Motorcycle Training Course (CHP-sponsored California Motorcyclist Safety Course), I got sertificate in the next 2-3 days, after that I passed the theoretical exam in just two minutes at the DMV. I recommend it !
Thank you for the kind words, and congrats on getting your license!
Fantastic experience: I took the Basic Course, this past weekend. It's been 25 years since I've crashed my last few dirt bikes back in Texas. So, I wanted to freshen up. I have never been on the street, though. But now, I want my license. Truthfully, I thought this class was mandatory to get my license in Cali. Never the less, I am so glad I took this course!!! It was great! In the classroom our instructor, Starlord, was excellent. He kept our attention with good information & humor. He was open to all questions as well as having the answers. Thank you, Ted! On the range Mike & Glen were equally as awesome! They made sure we understood exactly what we were doing & why we were doing it that way. It helps to understand how to complete the objectives, when you know why you're doing it that way. Again, both were great at answering questions. It was obvious that they both were very knowledgeable & patient. Thank you, Glen & Mike! I'm sure for all the instructors (range & classroom) this gets monotone. But, you couldn't tell. Ted, Glen, & Mike all seemed eager to help, teach, & make the experience enjoyable! I will definitely take the Intermediate Course, they offer! Thank you SRT! Y'all are great.
Fantastic experience: I’m a 61 year old and fairly new motorcycle owner who definitely needed the basics... The class was a great investment in learning great basic skills that will make me a safer motorcycle rider. The Saddleback instructors were very professional, courteous instructors interested in one thing only... To make me a responsible, knowledgeable, safe motorcycle rider. The overall goal to know how to maneuver my bike confidently, safely and skillfully. I plan on taking the intermediate course before the summer of 2020. And eventually the advanced class! I took the two day course August 31 and September 1st 2019. Thanks guys!
Fantastic experience: It's been some years since I took the class but I had such a fantastic experience I still reccomend it to people today. It was a perfect environment for a first timer and plenty of other females. Great mix of people who come from seasoned riders to absolute first timers and teenagers to middle ages, total spectrum. Nothing intimidating about it and great instruction.
Fantastic experience: Just got home from a retake examination. This company has been extremely professional from my first training, my failed exam, and my retake. Today I was with Mike and Vaughn as my coaches and these two were so good at making an otherwise very stressful day, very fun! They were sharp in noticing my mistakes, and quickly helped me correct them. Can’t recommend this team enough!!
Fantastic experience: I had a blast. Learned so much from the instructors Dave, Doc and Joseph.
Fantastic experience: This course is really helpful, I would like to thank all the trainers crew.
Fantastic experience: This class taught me what i needed to real world riding. It was fun but challenging. Ive bought my first bike now and would definatly recommend to everyone
Fantastic experience: Best thing you can do for yourself, a new riders must, the instructors are all cool
Fantastic experience: 100% recommend SRT! Very knowledgeable instructors who take time to teach both the classroom learning and the fun stuff...the riding! I feel like I learned a lot and will be a safer rider out on the open road.
Fantastic experience: I totally love saddleback rider training, great class to learn how to correctly ride, this class should be mandatory for all new riders! The whole class is awesome , highly recommend SRT!
Fantastic experience: As a novice I was a little apprehensive but the instructors immediately put us at ease by treating everyone as a beginner to build your skills from the ground up. The two day class has classroom sessions each morning (multiple choice exam on day 2) with the afternoon sessions reserved for the fun part of riding bikes on a closed course with skills practice. Highly recommend this school and the instructors, especially Dave and Dan!
Fantastic experience: I went a couple weeks ago and after passing this class I went yesterday and took my written test. It was 25 questions for the M1 test and I had to do 18 for my DL test because they wanted me to just renew it now since it was coming up.. I missed 2 for the M1 and 1 for the DL. So I passed and SRT covered every single question on there so you have to be retarded to not pass both the class or the DMV test. Thanks guys I'll be back for the intermediate class
Negative experience: They really don't teach much on the basics. I think it's a waste of money

Fantastic experience: Great program. Knowledgeable. Dave was an encyclopedia of experience and facts.
Fantastic experience: Great experience! The instructors are well informed about the best practices and the science behind them. I have been riding for a few years now but there were plenty of things I learnt like the most optimum riding position, better cornering techniques, etc. The course is structured to be at the right pace so I was never bored or felt it was too fast. Regardless of your experience, there's something for everyone to learn.
Fantastic experience: Had a fantastic experience this past weekend with SRT. The classroom portion of the class was lively and the two different instructors each brought stories and personality to the material to help bring it to life. The range work on ths motorcycles was challenging and very informative. They truly taught us techniques that will save our lives one day. This is not a paper mill so expect to be challenged but it was not so tough as to induce panic before the written or practical material. I'll probably go back before year's end to take their advanced course.
Fantastic experience: Classroom can be slow, but the content is extremely valuable, especially as a beginner to intermediate rider. The application is great and you spend a lot of time on the bikes.
Fantastic experience: Cool people and really want to help you which is very hard to find in any service industry these days. Keep up the good work!
Fantastic experience: Had food and water for you. Nice staff. Very professional.
Fantastic experience: 刚考完,路考的时候还提供手套,鞋子,头盔甚至裤子,教练也非常好。
Fantastic experience: I attended the CMSP Motorcycle Training Course to waive the driving portion of the motorcycle license endorsement. I have previous riding experience having ridden a dirtbike for several years, and have ridden as a passenger of a motorcycle for even longer so I was fairly familiar with the mechanics of riding on the road. Additionally I had my permit and practiced for months before taking the class. I had Carl and Doc as my instructors for this course. They pack a lot of information into the class and it goes by very quickly. The instructors are very knowledgeable, helpful, patient, and professional. They will teach you everything from the ground up having never even seen a motorcycle before. This should be a requirement for every rider. I used my own equipment (motorcycle and gear) so I cannot speak to any of those components, but they did have helmets, gloves, and motorcycles for you to borrow if you need them. The instructors gave very helpful tips throughout the riding portion, even if you think you've got it down, they'll give you something to think about and work on. The classroom material can make you a more observant and aware rider and driver. the SRT program goes above and beyond by providing snacks and drinks during the classroom portion and water during the riding portion. This is very helpful to those that forgot to get or bring breakfast or water for throughout the day. We rode rain and shine, be prepared if it rains, because you'll still ride unless there is lightning. I highly recommend everyone that would like to get the motorcycle endorsement on their license to take this course, it WILL make you a better rider. I definitely recommend Saddleback Rider Training because I had a great experience there with the very knowledgeable and personable instructors, comfortable environment, and well kept riding area.
Fantastic experience: Great instructors they make understanding what the course teaches easy and fun, the riding portion of the course is informative and fun I highly recommend this program.
Fantastic experience: The instructors were very skilled, friendly and made learning alot of fun. The class really expanded my knowledge of motorcycle control and I would highly reccomend this class to anyone who is interested in riding or is looking to learn to ride better.
Fantastic experience: Great class it was actually fun and although i been riding big bikes for 20 years i still learned some new stuff
Fantastic experience: Awesome, professional training. You learn a lot in a single weekend.
Fantastic experience: Had driven bicycles for ages, and manual tranny, as well as a couple of rides on a friends scooter some 20 years ago... so no motorcyce experience. Not only am I comfortable with riding but I have a clear idea of what bikes I'm interested in, and what to wotk on when I get. It was fun, low risc and extremly informative; staff are very knowledgeable, and great human beings. Also made a lot of friends. Highly recomended. Also took the morning course, we started with drills and then backed it up wi thoery. Making it a more that means it a more hands on type of course , plus in the morning the sun is more forgiving. Enroll for a life enriching experience you'll cherish for years to come-
Fantastic experience: The course, as a whole, greatly exceeding my expectations. Having been a relatively active rider before, I assumed I would be bored for about 90% of the class. That was not the case in the least. The classroom lessons were fun and interactive. The instructions were poignant and precise. The riding coursework was slow at the start (expected) but gradually accelerated to push the boundaries of new riders and provided a pleasant experience for the number of us who were experienced. The riding coaches were extremely knowledgeable and maintained their professionalism all the while accurately gauging the group's sense of humor and kept the mood fun and enjoyable. I will recommend SRT to anyone in the greater OC/LA/SD area as the best possible riding training without even the slightest glimmer of reservation!
