Fantastic experience: My experience at Barrios Auto School was one that I'll be thankful for for the rest of my life. From my very first lesson to my last, I was treated with kindness, patience, and respect. I came into the school having zero prior experience with driving, and I was given everything that I would need to ensure I'd be successful throughout my practice. My instructor, Steve, was a stand-up dude who made learning how to drive feel less like a chore and more like a simple yet engaging experience. I was given all of the necessary tools in order to succeed, and though it took a bit of trial and error, ultimately I was able to come out on top. I'd like to extend my gratitude to Jackie and everyone at Barrios for all of the help they've provided. I would definitely recommend Barrios for anyone who is looking to learn how to drive; they know how to do it right at Barrios!

Negative experience: Edit: Decided to give me major attitude after 2* voicemails (not 5, get over yourself, I’ve had to call you before to even check when the class would be because of how disorganized your “school” is) weren’t replied to, I appreciate the refund (given that the school is centered around Spanish speakers and they basically cannot accommodate english speakers, maybe 1 class every other week?) but the extent to which this woman disrespected me with nasty looks and weird remarks was gross. Take your money elsewhere unless you’re unemployed/out of school and are free every single day, or a Spanish speaker. Expect an attitude here, customer service isn’t a core value to this business. Is this honest enough for you?

Fantastic experience: Without a doubt I had an excellent instructor. I already had experience driving but I needed to pass the road test, I followed the instructions of my instructor Mr. Steve and I was able to pass the test. He is a good instructor because he tells you all the weak points in which we can improve our driving, but it is also up to you to make an effort to listen and follow what he tells you. If you have doubts it is always good to say it and ask, they will always tell you the truth with all the honesty in the world. Thank You Mr.Steve :D

Negative experience: So I hate to do this because reading the reviews it seem as if this is a really great driving school. However, I almost had a collision with one of your cars during a class. a driver had the student Idle/Parked at the corner (east north). While I’m heading up north on a green light, their car started to move in my direction with no signal turning the corner on a red light causing me to stop very hard almost hitting them! I was of course very angry because this is a driving class where you’re suppose to be teaching people to be alert as well as drive safely but that wasn’t the worst part he didn’t even acknowledge his wrong doing like he was clueless; he went on a told his student to proceed. The pedestrians were confused just like I were. Ridiculous, really need to get your instructors together if I wasn’t a defense driver that would of been a terrible accident which you guys would’ve been held responsible for!

Fantastic experience: I had the honor of having Steve as my driving instructor and words could not describe my gratitude towards him and his amazing form of teaching! I passed my road test on the first try all thanks to him and his practice road tests! :)

Fantastic experience: Last month I booked 4 classes with Sandra and I’m happy to say I passed my road test first try. Sandra was patient with me taking me step by step through the process and I am an excellent driver thanks to her. Ms. Jackie was very helpful with setting up appointments and explaining how the process works. I highly recommend this place as your first pick as a driving school.

Negative experience: So I’m writing this review around 4 years late. My experience here was not great. Truth be told, it was a waste of money (hard earned money since I was a fresh out of college student working restaurant jobs at the time). All we did was drive around the neighborhood. The instructor was not super attentive and gave minor pointers. He could use some coaching on how to be a teacher. But my biggest issue is that we never once went to the site where the road test was going to take place. How absolutely ridiculous is that since it was over in Red Hook (not far from sunset to have dedicated one class for it). It was an entirely new route and I ended up failing the road test because that area had confusing road signs. When I got back in the car the instructor did not say A WORD and just left it at that. Also, I am now an amazing driver and my parallel parking skills are on point. The way they reach you how to parallel park is definitely NOT the correct way lol. And he would make you park in the same exact location which did not simulate a real nyc parallel parking space (aka how to fit in a tighter space). Anyway, my friend is the one who ended up teaching me how to drive. I regret not asking her first. I passed my road test on the 2nd try just after practicing a month with my friend and finally getting comfortable behind the wheel.

Fantastic experience: This review is long, long overdue. I remembered to do it today as I was weaving through heavy traffic in Queens today. After having a terrible experience with Super Starz driving school I looked for other options - Barrios Driving school was Godsend. Jackie and her brother Jeffrey are amazing. They are honest, so helpful and truly care to offer the best service possible. This family ran business will support you on the journey of being an NYC driver. Jeffrey couldn’t have been more patient and helped me regain my confidence behind the wheel after having failed on my first try. Five lessons with Barrios and I passed on the second try! I must also mention the nice gesture from Jackie to call me up herself to give me the good news. So glad I came here. THANK YOU THANK YOU

Positive experience: Esta escuela, no sirve para enseñar. Solo gastas tu dinero y no aprendes nada.solo se tira la pelota el profesor y los de la oficina diciendo donde te enseñarán y así se pasa el tiempo. Ami me hicieron las clases en pleno tráfico y en 20 minutos se terminó el valioso tiempo del profesor. Y yo perdí mi tiempo y dinero..les aconsejo no vayan a este sitio..pesimo.

Negative experience: Mi madre, una señora mayor, tomó clases con ellos y lo pasó mal. Dijo que el instructor no le hablaba de forma profesional, hablaba fuerte/gritaba, poniendole muy nerviosa, un dia no le comunicaron que el instructor no podia llegar y le mintieron que "le estuvo llamando" cuando no recibió ninguna llamada; llegó hasta la oficina y tuvo que regresarse. Poco profesionalismo. Ella tomó dos clases con otra escuela despues de desaprobar con Barrios, y no podia creer lo bien que le hablaban, la calma y paciencia que tenian y lo segura que se terminó sintiendo. En fin, no lo recomiendo.

Negative experience: Very bad service and they steal your money they say the classes are in Spanish but when it got to the road test it was English and the driver wasn’t pleasant at all

Fantastic experience: Best driving school in the neighborhood the lady in the front desk(jaquie) is very nice. If you want a good driving teacher i recommend Enrique, he's very nice and paient plus he helps you learn from your mistakes

Negative experience: Hola amigos la verdad esta escuela de manejo no es recomendable por que sesupone que cuando te llevan Hacer el examen de manejo sería el mismo carro pues desgraciadamente así no fue en mi caso ya que cuando fui hacer el examen me llevé una sorpresa ya que Hera todo diferente más que todo la palanca de cambios no Hera igual que el otro carro y el coraje que tengo no te dicen nada que el carro Hera diferente en la palanca de cambios y se supone que uno paga mucho dinero para que uno aprenda y que no te digan nada el mero día del examen eso no se vale la verdad me llevo una mala experiencia de ese lugar así que si van a ese lugar tengan mucho cuidado con eso y por terminar. Se merecen 0 estrellas

Fantastic experience: Highly Recommended! Already in possession of a foreign drivers license, I did a few lessons to get accustomed to NYC driving, and received valuable help for navigating the DMV procedures as well as acing the final road test. Both front desk staff and Mr.Barrios were extremely helpful, friendly and professional. Great service and great people, thank you!

Fantastic experience: I should’ve gave this review a couple months ago but have been busy but they are a very Professional Auto School and the the lady at the desk was very nice and professional the instructor and the lady at the desk are brother and sister the instructor is professional he will let you know what you do right and what you do wrong and he will go over and over with it with you I was nervous at first but taking more than one class helped me get more comfortable driving my overall experience was good and I give them 5 stars…..

Negative experience: I never finished the lessons or took the test with them because I didn’t care for the instructor. I would parallel park and he would ask questions like “who taught you to park that way ? “ ..he was just kind of bitter and mean.

Fantastic experience: Barrios Auto School is amazing! Definitely recommend, and when you go for lessons ask for Isaac! He’s amazing and extremely helpful. Thanks to the school and Isaac’s lessons I was able to pass on the first try!

Fantastic experience: Barrios school is professional, polite, warm and welcoming. I didn’t think I was going to be able to pass my drivers test, but they taught me all of the ins and outs of what to expect on exam day and how to pass successfully. They have the knowledge you need. Please, don’t take the test cold turkey. Their staff is also bilingual and super friendly.

Fantastic experience: Barrios is the way to go !! I applied back in December but I recommend planning ahead because due to Covid-19 the spots do fill up quickly. My instructor was Jeffrey super helpful and explains stuff throughly. Jackie provides great customer service she will help you schedule classes as best as she can to fit your schedule. Guarantee you will pass your road test! . 10/10!

Fantastic experience: Barrios is the top 1 driving school. Their customer service is great. Ms.Jackie is very welcoming and tries to help you schedule classes as best as she can. I recommend planning ahead because due to Covid-19 the spots are filling up quickly. They have a new instructor Isaac (which was my instructor) he’s great! Very patient and laid back. He explains things thoroughly. Guarantee you will pass your road test! Jeffery & Issac are great instructors. 10/10!

Fantastic experience: I would recommend this school to anyone, regardless if you live in the Sunset Park area or not. Jeff Barrios and his sister Jackie really have your best interest at heart and will motivate you to pass the test! Of course, you have to put in the work as well but it is very comforting knowing that those who are helping you achieve your goal are willing to go above and beyond what is typically expected from a driving school. For example, I failed the first road test (because I let my nerves get the best of me and needed more practice with parallel parking) and Jackie knew my Learner's permit was set to expire on my birthday and coordinated to ensure I was scheduled for another driving lesson and could retake the road test a few days later prior to the Learner's Permit expiration date. And yes, I passed the 2nd time! :) This meant so much to me and I am truly grateful that I chose this driving school. Additionally, it's always nice to have a driving instructor (Jeff Barrios) who is very personable and encouraging. His jokes and riddles are hilarious!!

Mr. Jeffrey is a good teacher teaching you the right way to drive. Overall a great driving school. I would recommend it. Class scheduling may be longer right now due to covid19. Plan ahead.

Their prices are great as well! They give you the option of taking your road test in red hook or Staten Island which is definitely great! Took 10 lessons and I took my road test today and I’ve passed!

Negative experience: Worst place to go! Rude and unprofessional. Does not pick you up or drop you off. Jeffrey slapped my hands!! Why are you touching me. Him and his sister are both nightmares to do business with. Waste of time, energy, and money.

Negative experience: The most rude and unpleasant people I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. I was not prepared to take the road test despite my instructor clearly saying I was a great driver only for him to offer a second driving class package on the ride back. He never picked me up or dropped me back home I always had to come to their office for my lessons. I went to another driving school and I have finally passed my road test no thanks to Barrios. Do not waste your time and money to be disrespected and conned..

Negative experience: I originally came to this place and bought a 10 class package deal which would include my 5hr class and have them take me to take my test. On my 8th class they called me 45 mins before my re-schedule my class because the instructor would not make it. Which was fine. The lady said she would call me to re-schedule, I took my 9th and 10th class. More than 10 months later they have still not called me to reschedule, I have called several times to reschedule and they are too "booked." Seriously do not recommend this place, they feel completely irreplaceable since they are very known. Keep in mind, my father, sisters, aunts have taken their classes here. Thanks to Barrio's I had to go elsewhere to complete my courses and re-pay. Really do not recommend this unprofessional place.
