Our comment from DrivingSchools.Directory about HCC Commercial Truck Driving:

HCC Commercial Truck Driving offers a comprehensive CDL training program, praised for its knowledgeable and dedicated instructors who work tirelessly to ensure students acquire the necessary skills to operate commercial vehicles. Many students have successfully transitioned from having no trucking experience to understanding the intricacies of driving a semi-truck within a short period.

Some of the strongest features highlighted by users include:

  • Instructors who are patient and committed to safety.
  • Hands-on training with a focus on practical skills required for the road.
  • Positive experiences with weekend classes, enabling students to practice more.
  • A collaborative and supportive learning environment.
  • Opportunities for job placement upon graduation.

However, there have been some criticisms regarding staff communication and the responsiveness of the administration, especially concerning phone inquiries and enrollment processes. Additionally, while the equipment may be older, many students felt that the instructors' commitment to teaching and their extensive knowledge compensated for it.

Overall, HCC is regarded as a reputable choice for individuals aiming for a career in commercial driving, especially for those ready to put in the effort and utilize the resources offered by the school.

Fantastic experience: HCC CDL training program is amazing. The instructors are very knowledgeable, patient and dedicated to insuring you gain the proper skills needed to operate a semi-truck. I went from not having no trucking experience at all to understanding the daily functions of a semi-truck. Before HCC I had never been on the inside of a semi-truck, I literally started from nothing. I never drove a manual vehicle before yet alone a semi-truck. All this was taught to me to in a short period of time and now it feels like second nature. I would 100% recommend HCC CDL training program to beginners and advanced individuals pursuing their commerical driving license.

Fantastic experience: This is a great school. I took weekend classes for 8 weeks and today 1/15/25 I passed my exam in the first try. The instructors will teach you right, they are very professional, Mr. Schorter, Mr. Pablo and Mr. Hayes were all great instructors and were very thorough in teaching all there is to becoming a trucker. I recommend this school to anyone wanting to obtain their CDL!

Fantastic experience: This is a commercial truck driving college. They equip you with knowledge on how to drive commercial vehicles. Semi tractor-trailer trucks automatics and manual transmissions and 16 passenger or more passenger vans.

Fantastic experience: Best school to get your cdl. Started without knowing how to drive a manual car and left with being able to drive a 10 speed tractor trailer. Had the best trainer !!Mr. Garcia!!, he really cares that you pass your road test..I actually passed the first time. Week day trainers go on the weekends on their personal time so you can get extra practice. When they do give you that opportunity, take advantage of it and attend to get as much practice as possible. Remember on the weekends they set the hours and time since they are there on their own personal time to be helping you instead of being with their family and enjoying there weekend, so don't push it and really try your hardest and soak in as much information...Best experience ever. Thank you.

Negative experience: All I can say about this school is not worth study. My experience over here was horrible

Jay 4 years ago

Negative experience: This school is horrible the examiner (who will be testing you) is going off something totally different from the notes your instructors give you. They need new instructors, the pretrip is only half right according to the examiner.

Negative experience: My CLP expired 1 day after I was supposed to take my test at the campus. The tall Black lady forgot to put me in the list. All she said was how sorry she was. I was not reimbursed what so ever. I hate those people

Negative experience: Give Your Student drivers complete Full Training , Just like you want your money in full instead of half Or Missing!!!!

A A 4 years ago

Negative experience: They are bad people, especially there is a fat, white-skinned, lazy trainer who wants to train from a distance of 5 miles and is very rude and treated him very bad in addition to the principal, they do not know how to behave, and this school will definitely fail because of the administration and trainers of little respect. I do not recommend it strongly and they took my money and did not return it to me as thieves

Negative experience: Don't waste your time at the Stafford location. I was told that classes would be held on weekends: Friday's 6pm-10pm, Sat & Sunday's 7am-6pm. We ended up not having class at all on Fridays. Saturday's and Sunday's we were in class 4-6 hours per day (hardly ever 6 hours though) Not the 11 hours that I signed up for. If you already have your cdl license and only need endorsements this campus/training may work for you, as you have the experience. But for someone who needs behind the wheel training, this may not be the best route for training. A few suggestions: If you insist on the Stafford campus to get your learners permit & and drive time/ training, I'd suggest that you study for your permit before signing up for the CDL course. You can download the cdl apps and review other cdl training videos (study multiple apps and video's for Texas, trust me you will need it) This will help you prepare for the CLP. Once you are enrolled into the cdl course at HCC, take the CLP test at the DMV. Do this if you feel you know the material (time is of the essence) now that you are enrolled with HCC. The quicker you get your learners permit the more truck time you will have before your DMV road test. Most importantly, do not let the instructor skip out on your instructional hours. THIS WILL BE YOUR DOWNFALL! If it takes you from 7am-6pm to get maneuvers down on Saturday and Sunday do not skip out on those hours. If the instructor says he has an emergency and needs to leave, request to take that time up with another instructor/campus, or if possible go during the week. From my perspective HCC did nothing but help me get the CLP. I could've got the CLP on my own. You can too just study the CDL apps. I wish I would have read the reviews before paying my own money, to the tune of $3,500!! You are better off signing up and paying your hard earned money with a reputable training company.

Fantastic experience: My relative got his CDL in the 7 week course and he said that their actually doing their best job to help you on your CDL. I'm going for it finally after years of procrastinating. I've been studying on my own for years, now it's time to put in the effort hey life is what you make it.

Fantastic experience: 5 stars because they did exactly what I came for. I walked away with a CDL in my pocket. The equipment is ancient true, and student to truck ratio is super high. Here's the thing, the instructors care and are passionate about trucking. They showed up on weekends for students to come in and drive on their own time off the curriculum. I was struggling with the trucks but I showed up every weekend for the extra practice and passed my exam the first time. Lots of students failed their test, I even saw a test day where everybody failed. Should have come on the weekends to practice!!!! Here's some advice, put in the work, pay attention, and relax yourself, or it won't happen for you.

Fantastic experience: As is everything in life, it is what you make of it. I took the CDL course at HCC several years ago. I immediately hired on with Knight Transportation with no issues. YES IT IS FAST PACED ... YES IT IS OLDER MODEL EQUIPMENT ... YES IT IS HARD WORK ... Welcome to reality. If you can't keep up, can't operate their equipment, and/or dont want to work hard then keep your minimum wage job. Everything HCC does REALLY DOES prepare you for truck driving. If you can drive the schools trucks then you'll be able to drive any truck in any fleet. If you are hard headed amd want to do it your way then do not waste anyone else's time. HCC instructors are some of the most experienced in the business, ears & mind open AND MOUTH CLOSED is the best way to get the most from them. They are eager to teach and share their knowledge, TAKE IT. BE BLESSED AND BE SAFE.

Negative experience: I invested my own money to pay for this CDL program. This school was a horrible choice. Everything from day one was wrong. I basically had to teach myself everything. I understand the class/writing part but not the driving also. I have to learn from other students that was in class before ours. The evening class have no lights in the back where the driving track to see what you are doing. You have only to 5:30 to 9 p.m...I did end up getting my license thank God. The school was no help of getting it
