AK Services Driver Testing in Flint is well-regarded for providing a thorough and professional driving test experience. Many clients have praised the instructor, Rachel, for her calm demeanor, clear communication, and ability to make nervous drivers feel at ease during their tests. She is described as very professional and helpful, often going above and beyond to create a supportive environment for those taking their road tests.
However, despite the positive feedback, some clients have expressed concerns over unprofessional behavior and poor customer service experiences. Reports of rudeness and lack of understanding have been noted, particularly in stressful situations. A few users felt that their instructors did not acknowledge their emotional needs or create a respectful atmosphere.
Overall, while many drivers have successfully passed their tests and left with positive impressions, it's essential for potential clients to prepare adequately and maintain open communication with the staff to ensure a smoother experience.
AK Services Driver Testing - Flint: Reviews
Fantastic experience: Awesome, awesome, awesome road testing company and human!
Great kid ♥️
Negative experience: I appreciate the feedback I received after my road test. I would also like to add there is a true skill in being direct AND kind, and not condescending and disrespectful. If you are going to work with the public, especially in the service of them completing a road test the best thing you can do is make sure you create a friendly environment from the beginning of your interaction to the end even if someone has failed the test. If you can't do that then maybe the best thing you can do is find something else to do, or better yet find a therapist to work out your issues that way. You don't do that with people who are coming to you for a service. I don't know what made her feel comfortable behaving that way with me, but what I do know is that her behavior was unacceptable and chaotic. I understand she has the responsibility of ensuring that people are safe drivers but giving feedback does not include disrespect and aggression. I kept my cool and thanked her for her time and feedback but I was appalled by her unprofessionalism. Thankful that I learned the lesson that just because someone has a high rating doesn't necessarily mean good and quality service. There may be validity in her reviews of her being professional and helpful however I was not one of those people. Update to your response: Rachel, you were the only one yelling. I asked for you to write down your feedback on a sheet of paper. But I “yelled” at you?! Please don’t do that. Stop lying and just say I had a bad day before I administer your test. Coming onto the expressway slow…Yes, I can admit that. Semi-trucks slamming their brakes….not so much. Poor character. 3rd comment: First it was “slowly” merging and now it’s “abruptly” merging on the expressway. Got it. You have a business but instead of considering feedback you are making excuses for your unprofessionalism and adding misleading details to fit your narrative. This is coming from someone who says that they felt so unsafe and uncomfortable and yet during the ride were not sitting properly in their seat throughout the test and didn't take over the car or ended the test early. Which as an administer you are instructed to do when you feel it is unsafe. But that didn't happen. Okay, I got it. I do not thrive on giving negative reviews and like to give people the benefit of the doubt but horrible services. Yet, it saddens me that you have this job. People, please go somewhere else where you will be treated with respect rather or not you have passed or failed. Not having an administrator who makes the experience uncomfortable with their hostile attitude and unprofessionalism from the beginning to the end of your interaction. It can be nerve-wracking as it is to take the test. The last thing you need is to take it in that type of environment. Thank goodness other companies care. As of 9/18/24 at 9:03am she has now edited her response to my review from 2 years ago! Yes, she edited it this morning. Her inconsistencies in the narrative she trying to manipulated wasn’t looking good so she edited to fit the lies she trying to spread all because I gave a honest review of her poor behavior and her lies. I guess because multiple people have called her out since I have. She has proven poor character once again! Her behavior was very aggressive and harmful. I feel horrible that other people since then have experience her unprofessionalism, and toxic behavior. This should’ve been an exciting experience. She obviously has some issues she needs to work out.
Merging onto the expressway at 25 mph which caused people (including semi-trucks) to swerve and slam on the brakes to keep from rear ending us, and then not doing the speed limit on the expressway, is a clear indication that you need more experience.
In response to your second comment: if you did not see the semi truck, that is just confirmation of how unaware you were when you abruptly merged onto the freeway. And if me telling you “that you must go faster” in a firm & direct voice, is what you are referring to as “yelling” - then take note that you were the one who put us in a scary situation. This was not a comfortable experience.
You have work to do but you will get the goal you are seeking with a little practice.
Best wishes,
Rachel
Negative experience: I had the unfortunate experience of accompanying my sister-in-law, who is new to the U.S. and not very fluent in English, to her road test at AK Services. She was understandably nervous and praying for a soft-spoken, kind instructor to help ease her anxiety. Instead, we were greeted by the most grumpy, judgmental, and aggressive woman I’ve ever encountered in a professional setting. From the moment she approached the driver’s seat, it was clear that she wasn’t going to be pleasant. She didn’t greet us, avoided eye contact, and constantly sighed and rolled her eyes as if she couldn’t wait to get it over with before we had even started! Her body language was hostile, and when she finally spoke, it was just rude. I had asked if I could be present during the test because of my sister-in-law’s weak English, and we had agreed on the terms. To my shock, this instructor, Rachel, responded to my request with, “As long as you know when to keep your mouth shut.” The tone she used was obnoxious and disrespectful, making it clear she had no intention of being courteous. To make matters worse, when we scheduled the test, I was told I could wait in a car while the test took place. Instead, Rachel suggested I sit under a tree or wait on the sidewalk, with no mention of the car option I had been previously told about. I can’t help but wonder if this treatment was because I’m a Muslim woman—it felt discriminatory and unnecessary. After the horrible encounter, and obviously before preceding through with the road test I requested a refund. When I asked for a receipt to ensure I had proof of payment, Rachel pointed to the blue receipt she had previously given me, saying that was all I needed. It had her name, the company’s name, and the amount I paid via credit card. I thought that was the end of it. But as I was about to leave, she suddenly snatched the receipt from my sister-in-law’s hand without permission and walked off. Her behavior was completely out of line. At that point, I decided not to engage further and called the police for assistance to assure I get my money back. Rachel fled the parking lot but eventually refunded the money. To my surprise, she reported me to the police, twisting the situation to make it seem like we were the rude and racist ones something that couldn’t be further from the truth. Based on other reviews, it seems this is a pattern of behavior for her, where she manipulates situations and paints herself as the victim. I don’t tolerate bullies or liars, and Rachel twisted the truth to avoid taking responsibility for her actions. I would’ve let it go if she had simply apologized, but instead, she acted delusional and continued with her unprofessional behavior. I will be releasing the car’s surveillance footage to show the reality of the situation and to remind Rachel that standing up for yourself is not “rude.” Avoid AK Services at all costs. This kind of unprofessional and disrespectful behavior should never be tolerated.
I felt the same way about you guys- now leaving 3 one star reviews through different accounts (Shadi Shahada - twice and now you).
You are misconstruing things because you don’t know rules of my job and the State test- all you have is me telling you multiple times that you need to be out side the vehicle and you arguing with me about it. I told you kindly that you needed to wait out side the vehicle for the test it takes about 35 minutes- you can wait under the trees or by the church or some people walk to Dona’s donuts. I say this in text messages prior to them even arriving on site and in person to every adult client prior to the test.
This all could have gone very differently had the person who wanted to translate- say they wanted to translate at the paperwork portion of the test. No one is allowed in the vehicle for the parking portion of the test and you the translator needed to be outside of the vehicle for translating if you’re going to be a translator. This is the State of Michigan test and I am held to a very strict standard- you the “translator” would not follow directions and was very disrespectful which followed all the way around through the encounter. The abuse wasn’t enough on the lot you feel the need to continue it in multiple one star reviews.
I called the police because after I refunded your money and your sister in-law gave me the receipt back because it is no longer a state transaction - you followed me around the parking lot yelling at me - the police officer told me not to engage you anymore and to just get off the lot. Interesting though you can get out of the vehicle though to follow someone around a parking lot.
People who want to translate normal come and don’t try to bully the examiner, it was almost like you wanted it to be your test not the states - I will meet anyone with the same energy that they throw at me.
Ak services driver testing,
Owner
Negative experience: Broke company can’t afford an actual office they meet you in a parking lot with their broke down Malibu and if you’re accompanying the driver you’ll have to wait in the parking lot won’t recommend them to my enemies

Negative experience: I was very disappointed simply because the day I went, I was tested by a new employee plus the MI state examiner was there to watch him. Now I have a class A & am still on the road. I'm trying to drive school buses which is what I tested for. I failed for the 4th time & although they weren't supposed to tell me why, I was told! I am from Flint & I explained how we were trained. When we got to the back of the bus, we were trained to stand there & state, I will talk about the rear suspension & brake system as I did the front & then you begin stating the parts. And then when I got to the back of the bus I began with the clearance lights & move forward. But because I didn't state STUDENT clearance lights I failed. This was my 4th time taking the test! I pointed at everything I could see and I was trained by GISD here in Flint, MI from their CDL pre-trip manual revised 2024. I wasn't trained to say student lights in front of each light I described! Some of these 3rd party testing sites are nothing but a MONEY grab! And truthfully speaking, I believe a lot of the testing sites have contracts with these schools in order to pass them! I won't ever go back there again!. ****************************** MY REVIEW HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH TESTING IN IN A CAR. And you Miss Rachel you have nothing to do with my experience! have NOTHING to do with my experience. And I see I'm NOT the only person to give AK a bad review. And his boss has nothing to do with my test! We train differently here in Flint & how dare you get mad at my experience or how I feel!
I don’t do CDL testing at this site - this is not my client and would appreciate you taking this off my google flint site- however I did look you up to see who you tested with in flint for the other 4 test and it was with another organization in flint.
And further more EVERY state examiner gets STATE BOSSES dropping in on them to make sure you are given a fair test - if the state boss didn’t say anything- you were wrong- however you are not my client and i would appreciate you taking it off my site / the state examiner you had has been CDL examiner for more than 35 years he may have been new to you but not new to state of Michigan
*************************************
In response-to your response-this is not my client
May you be better prepared for your next state test wherever that may be- it’s the states test not the examiners test and yes in our line of work not everyone gets a trophy, our job is to protect already licensed drivers, and not everyone is happy or fails gracefully. The above is a prime example
My disagreement with you is why am I in the middle of another organization problem - but here i am defending that organization because i know exactly what happened. You were given a state test multiple times - you did not pass multiple times and it’s the trainers fault or the examiners fault. I understand not passing is frustrating but i most certainly would not blame an organization when there state analyst was present for the test. Our state analyst are who we answer to. It doesn’t go any higher than that and your upset with that examiner. Who clear as day gave you a state test
Rachel
Fantastic experience: Just had my test with Rachel, keep in mind I felt like a nervous wreck and I was sweating bullets, but she kept me at ease the whole way through. . . I 100% recommend this driving service you won't be disappointed. .
Fantastic experience: Just recently got my license back after 12yrs ,I have a very limited income and I needed a road test .A friend recommended Ms.Rachel at AK Services all I can say is she's awesome an old soul with great energy tons of enthusiasm I'd recommend her 1000 times over !!!!!...AK SERVICES ROCKS!!!!
Fantastic experience: Rachel was really great to drive with, she is a really good tester.
Negative experience: So we went here, my grandma was scheduled to take her road test but upon arriving she couldn’t find her permit, she had dropped off the side of the seat. The instructor was definitely not our cup of tea her demeanor was stale and wasn’t very inviting. While we were looking for the permit she was making sure we knew to hurry up because she couldn’t stay late because of a boat ride. Grandma appt was at 9, which Rachel Was still laying the cones at that time,we pulled back up at 919, when we pulled up she just shook her head no, then she commenced to getting out of the car and come and tell us she can’t because her next appt was in 20 minutes and the rest would take 45. Not that I don’t understand but To me it seem like the customer service was lacking and of No understanding for the elderly, or even courtesy. Idk I’ve worked customer service for a while and I definitely would have satisfied my customer. Wouldn’t recommend if you have any unforeseen circumstances
I greeted you at 9:00 am, for your 9:00 am appointment. I notified you by text, as all of my clients are, that you must come prepared with the required paperwork and the permit is a state required document. My schedule is very tight with only 5 min extra between tests. You left and then came back 20 minutes later with your permit. You’re upset because I refused to inconvenience the rest of my clients for that day. I was on time for you but you were not prepared to take your state test at 9:00 am. I only mentioned my personal commitments to let you know I could not stay late to do your test.
I hope you come better prepared for the the next company.
AK Services
Fantastic experience: My son had an awesome experience with AK Services. Rachel made him feel very at ease during his road test, which is exactly what he needed. Thank you Rachel for doing such an awesome job!
Fantastic experience: I took my road test today with Rachael Pilarski. She make me feel comfortable and such and enjoyment driving with her. She is very professional She is very prompt and awesome when scheduling my appointment. Rachael "AK Services" are amazing.
Negative experience: I had a horrible experience trying to schedule a driving test with Rachel. If I didn't respond to her text within twenty min she would cancel my appt and make me reschedule for a later date, this has happened on multiple occasions. Most people I know have other responsibilities and cannot be glued to their phones 24/7. If I had an option to not have given her one star I would have
Unfortunately as state examiners we have to put all of our clients in the state system or we can not test you! Just as every text message I send you says. I like all my clients confirmed 3 days prior to test to make things smoother on test day.
Sounds like you are a very busy person.
Respectfully,
Rachel
Fantastic experience: Rachel was AMAZING! she was very professional and does good at her job. she is nice and very soft spoken and that helps put your mind at ease and calm nerves! i would recommend her to ANYONE! she is the best you’re gonna get! also, she does a wonderful job explaining directions and how to do things, not one time did i feel she gave a direction to late!
Thank you for your kindness
Fantastic experience: Super nice friendly great presentation easy to listen to All around a good driving service
Fantastic experience: Miss Rachel (sorry if wrong spelling) was Awesome. Definitely suggest her for you driving test needs.
Negative experience: Who tells a teenager that they wasted your time because he failed his driver’s test?!! That was beyond unprofessional! My son came home feeling like a failure and waste of time because of your words! You don’t treat your customers like that!!
I would never say that to any client or anybody ever - period- his Grandfather saw everything I saw and agreed that he needs to work on some things
Yes failing a test can be upsetting.
Wishing him the best and may he pass next time wherever that maybe.
Respectfully,
AK Services
Fantastic experience: Great experience here. The instructor Rachel was awesome. She gave directions very clearly and concise. Don't believe what some other reviewers have said. I believe they were just upset because they failed and needed to blame someone besides themselves. Highly recommend using AK drivers training and road test. Keep up the great job Rachel.
Thank you for you kindness
Fantastic experience: Rachel is absolutely amazing and the best women to take a road test with!! She scores very fairly and has very good communication skills. Walked me through everything and made me feel comfortable. Extremely professional, I’m glad I choose AK services:) 10/10 experience!
Fantastic experience: Andy was wonderful to work with and very helpful and informative! He was great to talk to also. I would highly reccomend! I will remember his advice and stories he told :)
Fantastic experience: Very nice and professional group! I highly recommend them for all your driving test needs.
Fantastic experience: Great
Fantastic experience: This is the second time I’ve used AK Services for my daughters to take their drivers tests. A year or so ago Rachael put my first daughter at ease and was very professional. So my second daughter wanted to drive with Rachael also. she/we drove over an hour from Midland to test with her. My daughter was prepared and had practiced a lot prior to the test, but teenage nerves can still be prevalent, but Rachael made her feel comfortable and at the end, she told her she had done an excellent job, and passed. Don’t blame the instructor, if you or your child don’t pass the test, she wants safe drivers on the road, and is fair in her scoring to determine whether she thinks you are ready or not.
Fantastic experience: amazing. setup process was easy and i had so much anxiety going to the test but as soon as she got in the car…she made me feel comfortable and calm and i passed !! thank you Rachel for the amazing testing. i feel a weight lifted off my shoulder.
Fantastic experience: Great she really knows what she is doing. She is nice and informative definitely suggesting her to everyone I know
Fantastic experience: She was really professional and gave off good vibes when I first met her. Her presence made me feel more comfortable and it definitely made the test less nerve-racking lol. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone that wants a good test and an amazing driving examiner.
Fantastic experience: I’m so excited to set my appointment up with Rachal! I’ve had a terrible experience somewhere else and Rachal’s reviews were exactly what I was looking for. Taking a CDL road test can be intimidating “especially under hood and under bus stuff “ so working with a lady of this character is just what the doctor ordered.. can’t wait to hear from you I left a message on your machine this morning
Fantastic experience: Very good communication to set up a time and confirm the appointment
Fantastic experience: I would recommend this service to anyone that has to go to this
Fantastic experience: She's very understanding with everything and with the mistakes I make! I'm glad I got to experience and got scheduled right away for another day for more practice so I can pass! She has a professional attitude and she's not rude. She makes sure you are comfortable and helps you! She'll work with you!
Fantastic experience: Anyone looking to do a road test, this is the spot to do it. The woman I took the test with created a forgiving, professional environment. I failed, but it was in no part her fault, and even afterward she gave me the chance to prove that it was due to an honest mistake and not a lack of being ready.
Negative experience: Very Rude .
I cannot test you without your permit. I set you up for success with all the information you need through a text prior to your test.
I hope you’re better prepared for your next test, wherever that may be.
AK Services
Fantastic experience: Female instructor was awesome. I would recommend this driving test.
Negative experience: Very rude and doesn't seem to care. Then will have the audacity to wonder why someone is upset. I will remind you that people are entitled to their feelings. Especially, a nervous teenager. You got my money but I'll never ever be back here. My child was damn near in tears. No way.
Unfortunately he ran red light on his test almost creating an accident, luckily the truck swerved to miss us. Running a red light on this test is an automatic failure. This is the states test. As I told both of you in the parking lot going through his mistakes, I said this is a goal he can met, but he needs to come relaxed.
I understand this is upsetting to not pass but we want safe proficient drivers on the road.
I wish you the best of luck where ever your next test maybe

Fantastic experience: Rachel was extremely professional and a joy to work with!
Fantastic experience: Very patient instructor very easygoing.
Fantastic experience: Don't look any further! It's the best driver testing center in Genesee county.
Fantastic experience: Amazing! IF WE NEED A ROAD TEST COME HERE!!!
Positive experience: Rachel was such a nice lady, great instructor! I enjoyed getting my certificate today...Yeah!!
Fantastic experience: Really nice woman
Fantastic experience: I was totally nervous for my road test but the instructor was so calm and nice my nervousness dissipated quickly! The test was timed out perfectly! It didn’t feel too long nor too quick!
Fantastic experience: I passed the parking portion. I made a minor error on the driving portion which resulted in a failure. I hope that when I re-test I won't make that (or any other) mistake again. (4/5) EDIT: I passed the test. Good service, friendly test administrator. (5/5)
Before you retake your road test, you need to understand that your failure was not caused by a "minor" error. Your father and examiner had to prevent you from turning left in front of on-coming, right-of-way traffic. This kind of error causes accidents and potentially lives, which is a "major" error. On test day you must be able to demonstrate that you understand the rules of the road and knowing who has the right-of-way is crucial. My job is to make sure you can do that to ensure not only your safety but also the safety of those around you.
AK Services Driver Testing
Fantastic experience: Very nice!
Fantastic experience: Very professional and calm throughout the whole process, would recommend anyone looking for a very comfortable experience!
Fantastic experience: Miss Rachel was a delight very knowledgeable and instructing me all the way
Fantastic experience: Took my motorcycle road test in Brighton. Andrew was very professional and courteous. Will recommend to anybody needing a road test.
Fantastic experience: She was great. Very nice my grandson felt very comfortable with her,he was so nervous at first
Fantastic experience: fantastic, Rachel is really nice. very clear on what she expects.
Fantastic experience: Rachel is the best examiner I dare to say. I had my road test with her two times. I failed the first one, but I completely understand my mistake and she was so kind to explain it in the most just and polite way. Even though I failed the test, I was so glad that I've chosen this school. She explained all the instructions, and the test went so smooth as she was calm and kind which helped me to be relaxed. The second time was in June after the state has opened up. Scheduling the test went easy, and the test itself was similar to the one before, except this time I am glad that I've passed. I took her advice very seriously and worked out my weaknesses. I'd definitely recommend her. DO NOT think twice to take your test here.
Fantastic experience: My daughter took her driving skills test with Rachel. We were both impressed with how calm she is and how professional she is. We would highly recommend Rachel, especially if you are nervous to take the test!
Fantastic experience: Very satisfied with all the process! Very recommend!
Fantastic experience: Rachel is a very good & outgoing respectful when it come to the road testing .. she makes sure she goes over every rule & instruction as told .. she also has good communication. I took my road test and came home with my license .. she’s also a very considerate person as well!! Get with Rachel and she’ll get you your license she also has a reasonable price ..
Negative experience: Very rude unprofessional big-time never call them again
Covid - requirements
At the time of your review we were unable to test you on expired TIP permits- as of 7-1-2020 a new order was signed allowing permits too only if they are expired between 3/1/20-9/30/20. I can only do what the department allows us to do.
You were the only one who was upset! I can only do what the department allows us to do.
Fantastic experience: I took my daughter here for her driving skills test, Rachel is the type of person perfect for this job. She made my daughter feel comfortable and relaxed, and She passed her test!! 100% recommend.
Fantastic experience: I passed my road test today with AK services!! Rachel is such a sweet lady and super professional, I highly recommend AK services and of course Rachel:)
Fantastic experience: I highly recommend, Rachel was very patient and made me feel extremely comfortable as I had just failed a driver's test with another company two days before. She was extremely kind and informative and again very patient. I also liked the fact that she engaged in conversation unrelated to the test, before the test and after the test, which really eased my nervousness.
Fantastic experience: Highly recommend Rachel and AK Services.! Very professional. Flexible in scheduling. Great follow-up so we had all the necessary documents. Her testing was fair and her feedback was valuable. It is clear that she wants safe drivers on the road.
Fantastic experience: Ms. Rachel was very considerate in scheduling my daughter's road test. Even when changes had to be made she was always positive and understanding. Ms. Rachel made it very comfortable for my daughter on the road. She is very patient and calm. Thanks Ms. Rachel, we are truly grateful!
Fantastic experience: Rachel was amazing! She gave directions in a calm, concise manner and gave great feedback at the end. Thank you so much!
Fantastic experience: The lady testing me was very pleasant. She managed to squeeze me in after-hours for a test on Saturday. Would definitely recommend!
Fantastic experience: If it wasn’t for Ms. Rachel i would still be taking my test. This is my second try and i passed. She was very easy and . I highly recommend her for drivers traing and for a road test. Her scheduling is very easy and quick. This drivers training is worth the money
Fantastic experience: Awesome tester, she was very pleasant, friendly, my daughter understood her every direction and she passed and I plan on using her for my son when his time comes.
Negative experience: Never want to go here again. Paid $50 for a driving test, didn't get past the beginning with parallel parking, and then told me the test was over. Have to pay another $50 to take the test again. Not worth the time or money.
Trevor
As stated at the time of the test, the driving skills exam is a two part test. You must pass parking to continue to the road portion of the exam. You are allowed 6 points on parking.
Unfortunately you did not pass the parking portion of the test.
I wish you the best of luck on your next test, wherever it may be.
Ak Services

Fantastic experience: Rachel was very professional it was a great experience I will definitely be recommending to friends
Fantastic experience: I couldnt be any happier with my experience at AK driving services, Rachel did an outstanding job as my final driving tester. Professional and courteous.
Fantastic experience: Highly recommend AK for road tests! Rachel was very nice and explained things clearly throughout the test. Very reasonable price, too. Scheduling was also a breeze compared to other road testers in the area.
