Fantastic experience: I have been trying to get my license for over three years now and had a lot of trouble with my Anxiety. At first, I was hesitant about starting these classes, but once I scheduled my first class, I felt so much more comfortable behind the wheel. My driving instructor, Sean, helped me improve my basic driving skills and even help me get over my anxiety. After three lessons, I successfully passed my driving test and finally have my drivers license! The process of taking the behind the wheel exam with them was super easy, and Sean was very prepared and prepared me well for the test.

He was very patient with me and after just one of his lessons with no prior experience I felt very confident on the road which I was not expecting. I would recommend this company but Sean in specific because he has a great sense of humor and is easy to talk to but also just makes learning how to drive as simple and easy as possible. Thank you Sean for fully preparing me for my driving test and for making lessons effective but also very fun.

Fantastic experience: Kirt was an amazing teacher!! I learned so much. I definitely feel confident to take my test. We went through a carwash, went on the freeway, practiced unprotected turns and practiced parking.

Fantastic experience: Great driving school for people of all ages! Especially if you have absolutely no experience behind the wheel/don't own a car. Sean, Kirt, and Ricardo are all incredible though I would recommend sticking with one instructor to keep things consistent.

Fantastic experience: It was a great experience my instructor Kurt was kind and patient with me and made funny jokes to help my anxiety. My mom and I quickly learned to trust him. Completely and I'm so grateful to have had help in getting my license. Kurt was clear and articulate with his explanations and even had a whiteboard. To help show diagrams it explain techniques and important acronyms. If your unsure about who to go with to learn to drive I highly recommend local driving school. They are great.

Fantastic experience: I had my lesson with Sean S. in Alameda. Passed on the first try after one 2-hr lesson a week in advance and a 40-min practice session on the day of (I already had a licence in Europe). I found Sean helpful: he gave me a good sense of which things to focus on during the test. He's also nice.

Fantastic experience: This is my story of going from a complete novice to being a license owner! First day, I knew nothing of driving. Absolutely nothing. I was scared to have even have the responsibility of driving a car. I feared it so much I drove very slowly around the area and didn’t even want to drive onto the busy road because it was all so foreign to me and Mr. Kirt said that was alright since it was the first lesson. He recognized my uneasiness and discomfort on the whole experience and let me go easy. Second lesson, just as anxious but before we took off, he helped me with the anxiety by showing me funny videos. This time, it seems that the busy roads I was villainizing in my mind turned out to be not so scary. Of course there were some bumps on the road (not literally, metaphorically I mean) but Mr. Kirt helped by teaching me some defensive driving! Third lesson, didn't see that car when I was merging but I’m glad Mr. Kirt was quick and helped me steer the car away before something bad happened! The rest of that, we were driving around the streets where I was going to take the test in to help me be familiar with the surroundings! Taking these driving lessons from Local Driving School really helped out a lot! But more specifically, I want to thank Mr. Kirt for helping me and teaching me even though I was a bit clueless and thick-skulled at times during his lessons. During the driving test, I really remembered almost everything he taught me. Signal, rear view mirror, side view mirrors, over the shoulder, then go and so much more. I really couldn’t get the over-the-shoulder part until the driving test when it all clicked. I’m thankful that Mr. Kirt was so helpful, kind and patient. He really tried to help me get rid of my nerves by laughing with me and by reinforcing good driving habits (and also by praying with me when I was so scared just before the test lol). Thank you so much again. Now I pass the baton to my little sister. She’ll also be taking lessons from Local Driving School because they really are the best! Of course, I’ll also be recommending Mr. Kirt to her. Thank you for everything and sorry for this long review, haha. I just wanted to show how much I really appreciated the effort put into teaching someone hard-headed like me.

Fantastic experience: At first I was very nervous about driving. Even I felt dizzy and motion sickness when I saw driving practice video on Youtube! But with kind and patient instruction of my instructor, Sean, I can overcome being afraid of the driving by myself. He taught me same things hundred times so I can try what I didn't do well effectively. So anyway I passed the test in first try! I highly recommend my thankful instructor, Sean!

Fantastic experience: Highly recommend this place! I took the test first time and failed, and then I took one lesson with Sean right before the test day and I passed the test the next day. He is really a good instructor and will teach you exactly things that you would need to keep in mind while taking the behind-the-wheel test. He was calm throughout and didn't get irritated when I made same mistakes several times, but every time calmly explained it to me what I was doing wrong and how to avoid that. Lastly, he is a stickler for details and is very precise about every small things.

Fantastic experience: Kirt is the bestest teacher you could ever have. He thoroughly explains the rules. At the end of the lesson he give an extremely helpful evaluation on areas to focus on. Throughout the lesson he talks about things to pay attention to while driving. He makes a game plan for his students. I think my favourite and the most helpful part is the white board in the car. His diagrams are super helpful. He also genuinely cares about his students !!! I highly recommend booking lessons with Kirt, especially if you are a beginner.

Negative experience: I went to Local Driving School for my first ever driving lesson back in November 2023, purchasing just 1 lesson to try it out. The lesson was unprofessional and bizarre, and I contacted the company immediately afterwards if there was some way I could be reimbursed, but they said no to all options. I apologize for the late review, I got busy at the end of the year and have put it off as I've never written a negative review and the instructor knew some info about me. At the time there were only 2 choices of instructors available out of the long list they had on their website, both men. Initially I wanted to learn from a woman due to the nature of being alone in the car with them, but went with one of the instructors anyways as I wanted to learn as soon as possible. He picked me up and we had some small talk, but he continued to share information that was more and more personal in nature. It started with how he felt too tired to teach and should've canceled, but was thankful he didn't because I seemed like a cool person and wouldn't have met me otherwise. This was alarming, but I gave him the benefit of the doubt as it seemed like a compliment and I thought I would still learn something. He went on to describe how his body was feeling and about his personal and romantic life, traumas, etc. At some point I mentioned I was 23 and he mentioned he had a partner that was the same age. I believe he said he was 41 and that he had met his partner 5 years ago, right after or as she got out of high school. He said I seemed like a safe and open person to talk about this stuff to, but the situation felt so bizarre and trapping that I didn't know what to do except engage without revealing too much about myself despite how uncomfortable I became. As for the lesson itself... I don't feel like I learned anything. I almost scraped a pole at one point and was warned after the fact, and when we were driving back to the drop-off location we were distracted by something in the distance and I ended up running a red light on a thankfully empty T junction. During the drive he explained that he had been drinking a lot of water, and so I had to drive him to a restroom twice. I kind of felt like a personal driver! Due to concerns that he knew my name and where I worked, I sent an email to the company using less explicit details that night, including that he overshared "personal information", that I made mistakes that could have easily been prevented by the instructor with the passenger brakes, and that I felt like I didn't learn anything. I asked if I could be refunded in whole, partially, or even given some sort of credit for a lesson with another instructor. No response despite a 1 week follow up. The company called me 2 weeks after the email to schedule another lesson... I asked if they had seen my email, they hadn't, and looked for it. Their response was that though that was unfortunate and they would be talking to the instructor, there is a clear no refund policy on their site. I asked if I could get any type of reimbursement, like credit with another instructor, and they said no I would have to pay in full for another lesson, and offered no solutions. This business model shocked me. I understand no refund policies, but that there is absolutely no assurance that a lesson will be safe, comfortable, and professional? No solutions for an uncomfortable experience? I still get calls and texts about scheduling my next lesson despite the email and the phone call. I believe there has to be some great instructors among their list, as seen in more positive reviews. I guess I would say if you really want to have a lesson with LDS, stick with the named instructors in the reviews if they are even available on their site. I believe I had to pay before looking at scheduling options, but my account seems to be deleted...?

Fantastic experience: I just passed the driving test! I took 2 classes with Kirt to start and then 2 classes with Sean (including the test). Highly recommend both instructors.

Negative experience: Hi, I’m learning car driving through Local Driving School 3days - 6hrs package, they said all DMV driving test requirement skills cover in this but they didn’t cover, only Kirt teach me one straight parking, left & right turns, two times U turn, SMOG &SIPDE skills only, He didn’t learn Parallel parking,up/down hill parking, reverse parking, Angle parking, highway driving, lane marging ….all are nil, and time also each day class two hours, but he teaches 1:45mints, This is my experience,.

Fantastic experience: I had Kirt for three lessons, It was great! He is super chill. I learned how to make left turns, how to parallel park, how to drive on the freeway, how to fill up on gas, and how to change lanes! I got to drive around the DMV area so I’m feeling very well prepared for my test.

Fantastic experience: The school is great. If you’ve never driven before and don’t have a car, this is the place for you. My instructors, Druh and Kirt, were super helpful and really taught me how to drive, and gave me advice on how to pass the road test. After months of trying on my own, they helped me pass test. Without them, I wouldn’t have a license. I highly recommend this school.

Fantastic experience: I just completed my behind-the-wheel training and have past the road test today. Although I ended up using another company to take me to this road test in Oakland due to personal availability, Local Driving School in the East Bay is the way to go in terms of driver’s training and exposure to the road. They have a great fleet of Toyota Prius or Corolla training vehicles. Everyone I have met at this school has been so kind, professional, and supportive! Kirt took me on trips to places I haven’t seen on the road. He will put you in different driving scenarios that will make you a perfect driver. Druh was the perfect driver to do a mock test with. She was my first instructor to expose me to the adventurous road on Day 1. Sean is the master behind finding your perfect pulse on driving technique and knowledge. He will train you to the highest standard in terms of safe driving both in real life and the road test. Fernando brings you on his unique 2 hour course and is a great guy to talk to when you’re on the road. He has a famous El Cerrito, Berkeley, Kensington, Richmond route that he stands by. The customer service online has been amazing as well! I wouldn’t have made my driver’s license without this school’s diligent training. Thank You Local Driving School!

Fantastic experience: I took the silver package for lessons initially and later added top up for few more lessons only to get better at generic driving. I preferred the combination of both Kirt and Druh as it boosted my confidence further. Druh is supremely calm and master of her trade! Kirt is super passionate and desires to imbibe the significance of driving in general and provided constructive criticism. Sean checked on my skills and gave me the last minute motivation on the exam day. I passes in my first attempt with no anxiety at all, coz I had wonderful driving experience with local driving school. Highly recommended!!!

Fantastic experience: A very enjoyable experience, I was exposed to a lot. Kirt was an amazing instructor, and he made It such an educational but fun experience. Definitely doing this with him again! Fantastic experience: Thank you Druh for being patient, kind and considerate with me. Every lesson I had with Druh was informational. she goes at your pace and lets you ask question. She does inform you on everything you need to work on and gives you a paper at the end of each lesson on what you can improve. Fantastic experience: I did the platinum pack with Kirt, and after driving with him for ten hours, I truly feel like a confident driver. He gave constructive criticism when I needed it, but also gave me support and gave me the confidence to drive on any road. he also gave me detailed evaluations after every class so that I knew what to improve. If you have been thinking about learning how to drive, definitely do it at Local Driving School with Kirt, you will not regret it!

Fantastic experience: I passed, with only 5 errors!!! I felt very comfortable with my driving instructors Kirt and Druh. They are very perfessional and easy going. Fantastic experience: Informative and fun driving lesson. Learned a lot and had a good time. Kirt was my driving instructor and made sure I was on the right path to passing my driving exam. I practiced and learned about the center turning lane, reversing after parking, and moving to the right part of the lane before making a right turn. Kirt encouraged my driving style and gave many compliments which made the lesson extremely enjoyable. I recommend the Albany local driving school and Kirt as an instructor if you’re looking to enhance your driving techniques.

Fantastic experience: I just finished my training with kirt and druh. They both are amazing instructors, they made sure I was comfortable in the car before driving on the road. They both were very patient with me on roads for me to understand the training. Some things they taught individual was how to properly park, how to properly watch my surroundings, and to watch out for buffer zones (which I call shark teeth now lol) I really appreciate them both, and highly recommend them for beginner drivers :).

Fantastic experience: Just passed my road test today on my first try!!! Kirt is amazing: he is super chill, good at repeating stuff until I understand and an excellent instructor who not only helps you to pass the test but also helps you to become a really good driver. I was really really bad at my first lesson and thought I might not learn how to drive in the end. However, Kirt helps me a lot to become a confident and skilled driver and now I passed the test on my first attempt (I cannot believe that three months ago). Besides, he also helped me a lot on the day when I took the road test since I was super nervous. Definitely 5 stars on Kirt!

Fantastic experience: The instructors here are very nice and calm when they teach you. I had 3 lessons with Nate and the Behind-the-Wheel test with Kirt—both instructors were very clear when giving instructions; lane changes, looking at mirrors, reversing, parking, and maintaining speed. They are also very encouraging and help with building that confidence when driving. Highly highly recommend this place and taking lessons from BOTH Kirt and Nate!

Fantastic experience: I highly recommend Local Driving School, especially DAN and IRIS!!! I had a package course which including 3 lessons and accompanying for behind wheel test. I have driving experience in my country. Although I passed writing test, I technically didn't have information much about difference in the US. I had four different instructors and in my opinion, Iris and Dan were great teachers and they helped me a lot. Both IRIS and DAN are very professional and have high teaching skil and great personality. They gave me a lot of effective, efficient advice and tried not to be nervous during my lesson. On the day of behind wheel test, Dan gave me a message he could pick me up 15 mins earlier if I'd like to practice for a while before going to DMV. He was great and his advice worked very much on the test!! I passed at the first time with only 1 error!!! He encouraged me a lot during practicing. Thank you very much for everything! If you are going to take a test with their car, you can tell preference of the car. They have 2 kind of that, which are Toyota's Prious and Hond's one.

Negative experience: Kirt was a wonderful teacher but once I was reeled in to buy a “package” for our babysitter, I found this company terribly unresponsive and lacking in customer service. I left two voicemails and three emails with questions and no one followed up. Not okay.

Fantastic experience: I finished my first lesson with Kirt, I learned a lot about parking, backing up, making sure to check my mirrors every 3-5 seconds, & making sharper / better turns. He’s very patient and makes you feel more comfortable!

Fantastic experience: Just had my first lesson with Iris. She's wonderful! Great teacher, friendly, and made me feel way less nervous. They took me on a route that got increasingly difficult but by the end i felt confident enough to handle it. I hope my next lessons are just as great!

Fantastic experience: Thank you to Kirt for teaching me to drive for the first time ever. He taught me general steering, how to back up, and park. He also gave me the California Parent-Teen Training Guide which I am sure will help me when I am driving with my parents. He was very patient and helpful.

Who taught me how to reverse and drive up and down hill, how to park, the colors of the sidewalk he was really nice and told me tips on driving , also he was kind enough to clean the windows before driving and offer water wich i appreciate.

Fantastic experience: Today I am officially a lisenced driver! My instructor for the day was Manny. He was very patient and a joy to work with. In the order from first to third, I had Amar, Don, and Kamar. Amar made my driving experience less stressful and for my first driving instructor, I was in need of that. Don was my second instructor. He was patient and taught me well woth the advanced forms of driving while also being informative and a joy to work with. Kamar was absolutely phenomenal. A joy to talk to and very stress relieving for me. I would recommend this school to anyone.
