Fantastic experience: I was at the Carrollton location for my road driving test and I was more than happy, the staff was friendly and the process was quick once they checked that all the documents I needed were in order not even 5 min long in calling me to start the test, the lady who examined me was extremely communicative and explained everything in detail before starting the exam, the rest of the exam was a good experience and I did not feel pressured or nervous at any time,I felt comfortable and I was able to pass the exam successfully, from my experience I recommend this place if you want to take your road driving test and feel comfortable in the process.

Fantastic experience: I came in on Tuesday Jan 14 and did not have all my paperwork it was my fault after 5 kids and the laws change every year the lady behind the desk was absolutely wonderful and patient with me. set me for another day to come back on Saturday Jan 18th and the gentleman at the desk was wonderful and friendly as well the instructor who took my daughter for her test drive was also GREAT according to my daughter, I just want to say I would recommend this place to everyone I know I have had 3 of my children go there and every time has been a great experience Thank you for making this easy for me. Fantastic experience: Such a great experience for my 16-year old today! I talked him into doing the skills test first, and he was glad he did. Otherwise, they are unable to interact at all during the driving test in order to correct anything that isn't perfect. Great experience with the owner, who made my son comfortable before starting it all.

Fantastic experience: Today I went to right start driving school to do my road test and I got to meet MR.SMITH he was awesome and patient he was also my driving instructor for my road test. All the employees and Mr. Smith made me feel welcome and ready to take my test, I was very comfortable compared to my experience in the lewisville DPS road test. He was very friendly and let me know right off the bat what we were going to do and how he was going to grade my test, I really appreciate the communication compared to the lewisville dps. he gave very good directions and also gave a very good heads up before any lane changes and street turns no late calls or anything, and at the very end he told me what I could fix and helped me understand what to do next time. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this place for your Childs classes and test i without doubt come back if I needed to.

Fantastic experience: I am new to Texas and for the past two years, both of my daughters have been taught here. They are a really good school. The front desk staffs are all so organized and always have been so patient with answering my questions and helping me with all my problem. The teachers there are all so nice, welcoming, and professional. My daughter said they are very kind and always help calm her down before driving by creating a good enviroment. Negative experience: Have to register in person for classes on the weekends but only open 9-5. Not good for people who have jobs.

Negative experience: I took my daughter to this place to learn how to drive and we were greeted by some guy who kept saying what a day he's having and was more interested in making jokes and asking my daughter questions about has drove my car without permission and I went along with little humor is nothing wrong with it while we're getting the work done but 30min later he's still not signing her up I was like ok do I pay when can she start he says since she never driven before we need to ask someone and will call you back and never heard ftom him I had to fond another place happy yo take a customer and will start her by this week so we had the strangest experience.

Fantastic experience: We used this place for our daughter to obtain her learner's permit, and then the Road Test for her license. Everything went very smoothly. It was really nice to just hand the DPS office a sealed envelope from them and walk out with her driver's license. We Highly Recommend this place!

Fantastic experience: This is THE best driving school for miles all the way from Carrollton to Lewisville. You can’t change my mind. I speak from experience and testimonials when I say this. I remember doing my Theory lessons in-person-classroom with one of the instructors and I remember seeing kids all the way from lewisville which is around 30-45 minutes away and asked them why they came and they said it was the best quite a number of reasons. I am forever grateful for being educated by this place and it’s instructors. Their Theory lessons and in-car lessons are incredible. If you’re looking for a spot to learn, pick this place. Trust me. I give this place 5 stars for it’s patient, kind, friendly, professional environment.

Negative experience: Please, do yourself and your child a favor and go somewhere else. The staff are nice, at first, but once they have your money, you are at their mercy. In our case, because of COVID, our student had to attend class on-line. A paper worksheet was given out that takes 10-15 minutes to complete. This wasn't a test, it isn't required by the state, and nowhere on the worksheet, contract or class materials does it state that the worksheet has to be returned as a condition of receiving the completion certificate. The instructor claimed that the students were told that this had to be returned, but there is no documentation of this and no communication to the parents of this "requirement". When the worksheet was lost, the instructor required that the student repeat 6 hours of classroom instruction and re-do the 10-15 minute worksheet exercise in order to receive the completion certificate. Remember, at this point, the student had already attended all of the classes and passed the state-required written test. When I asked the reason, the instructor literally said, "Because I am in charge and I said so." Her explanation was that this would "teach students to be more responsible." There is no appeal, and no alternative other than start over at a different driving school. Clearly, the better alternative would be to 1) document in advance the requirement to return the worksheet, and 2) have a less punitive remedy for failure to comply with an undocumented "requirement". Perhaps the student could complete a new worksheet in 10-15 minutes, rather than being forced to participate in 6 hours of duplicate instruction. But, the instructor is in charge, and "because I said so", it has to be done. Save yourself the headache - just go somewhere else. There are lots of good alternatives.

Negative experience: None of the employees were wearing their masks properly, not even the lead instructor. Would rather have my $75 back and no permit than risk my life for one again. Poor air conditioning, in a very small classroom with no social distancing.

Fantastic experience: I am so glad my teen daughter took her driving test here. Her tester, Mr Matthews, was wonderful! He chatted with her before the test, putting her (and my) nerves at ease. He was pleasant, professional, and it was just a great experience. I really hope Mr Matthews is still there when my other kiddos need to test.

One star only because they graciously took my money and only had to wait a couple weeks for the scream fest appointment. Perfect score outside of that curving turn.

Fantastic experience: My son took the evaluation before his road test on Monday and it was the best $35 we could spend. Mr. John Mathews was very patient and helpful. I will be coming back next year with my daughter.

Negative experience: I couldn't figure out how to sign up online because the site says their Saturday morning adult class is at 10, but the sign-up page has 9, 9:30, and 10 o'clock classes. I came in a couple weeks ago to ask how to navigate their sign-up site and the front desk lady said that their online sign-up page is deprecated and that we should just walk in half an hour early on the morning of the class. I did so today, after waiting nearly two weeks for the opportunity, but the teacher was out due to sickness and the alternate teacher was out to a wedding. The next class is two weeks from now. I tried to explain all of this online confusion to the front desk lady and explain to her how the site needs to be updated, but she defensively interrupted me every time I tried to make a point. Between my fragments of a sentence she explained that the site actually does work and should be used to reserve a spot. This organization is not suited for professional business, as they are perfectly willing to make customers wait weeks for the next opportunity to have a class. The front desk staff give conflicting and confusing information, and are impatient and rude to customers. Unfortunately, I may have to come back to this wretched establishment for my class because the only other establishment in this area doesn't have Saturday English classes, despite this being a majority English-speaking area. If I am satisfied with the class, I may update this review and give one or two more stars.

Negative experience: Worst driving school ever. Total scam, 50 dollars for one hour driving lessons? Seriously?! This is a complete rip off. It didn’t even help at all since I was assigned to different instructors who had different ways of teaching everytime I visit to practice. These people were unprofessional and rude, such as this woman who constantly made threats to fail me as if it were a real test. 200 dollars wasted for four driving lessons, not worth it.

Fantastic experience: I have put two kids though Right Start, no problems what so ever. Never had a problem with anyone in the office. No mix up on any driving times. We requested to be put "on call" for driving times to knock out driving times faster. To avoid the DPS wait, we will be paying Right Start to take the road test this month when my son turns 16. Who am I, I am the owner of Mr. Jim's Pizza just down the strip center. I have known this place sense they opened, I have had zero problems with them. Now for the parents who drop off the kids there? Well, no comment :)

Fantastic experience: My daughter took her Drive Test with this school last summer after attending a different driving school and passed with flying colors. My son took their course and I must say I was very pleased with the teacher's way of teaching, the staff is great very helpful with questions I may have. He is now doing the drive time part of it and it could not be any better. He's had great experiences with the instructors he's had so far. He says they are very patient, they even take the time to teach him more as their driving even giving examples with other driver's way of driving etc. Not sure where the negative comments are coming from. I'm a pleased MOM and highly recommend this school

Fantastic experience: A close friend who lives in Carrollton recommended Right Start where she had taken her daughter for her road test and had a great experience. Due to a 2 month wait to get into our closest DPS in Garland, we decided to call Right Start. Everything was great from beginning to end. Very friendly receptionist who answered all our questions and made our road test appointment. The day we came in for the actual road test, the front desk receptionist was helpful and friendly. The owner (who conducted my son's road test) was very personable and professional. The atmosphere was relaxed and I saw both the receptionist and owner also interact with others with the same kindness and respect. Overall, they made my son feel welcome and relaxed and even if he had not passed, I feel they would still show support and professionalism. We are very happy with our experience. My oldest son took his test at a DPS and the experience was quite the opposite. Stern driving instructor almost purposely trying to make the student driver feel intimidated. And then the driving instructor chastised both my son and I for him "driving too fast and going to kill someone", (driving fast totally out of character for my son, who was often accused of driving too slow!). In all, Right Start was a great option for us and we would recommend other to them in a heartbeat! In fact, already have!

Negative experience: I honestly wish I could give this place 0 stars. It took me over a year to finish my drive times with them because the instructor was so rude and unhelpful. I was forced to finish the summer I before I moved off to college and they did very little to accommodate me. The office staff was also very rude, unprofessional, and incredibly disorganized. I would get multiple calls from different people trying to confirm my drive times because the person before them wouldn't make note of it. Although that is nothing compared to the drive times themselves. I was constantly scheduled with the same rude, condescending lady (despite asking to be scheduled with someone else multiple times) who not only was the worst teacher/instructor I have ever worked with for anything, but also was very unsafe and unprofessional by texting, making personal phone calls, and putting her feet up while with students. She even would randomly shout things with the intention of scaring the kids in the car and even adjusted my seat WHILE I was driving. By the time I was done I even reported her to the State for her behavior. I have telling everyone I know with kids, friends, nieces, nephews, or cousins not to let anyone close to them go to this driving school and I can guarantee that my parents won't be sending their 3 other kids here.

Negative experience: Most of the problems that arose was due to the extremely unprofessional and rude employees. I have recently signed my child up for their driver's test, however, decided to switch to another school when their employees managed to talk down to me for providing them with wrong information when they were the ones that put it in wrong. The owner(also a road test instructor) unprofessional as well.

Negative experience: Terrible experience with both driving test and dealing with paper work. The employees were especially rude. You have to go to the DPS to finalize the documents. Waste of $75 (plus $25 to make the license). Just save time and money and go straight to the DPS or find a different driving school- there's many around this area (email me and i will give you the details); I will be taking my son to Drive Smart.

Negative experience: Very disorganized, full of miscommunications and lousy workers. They were very condescending and rude, though mistakes were made on their part. Owner denounces bad reviews stating they were sent by former employees? They're ignorant enough to not be able to distinguish from workers and customers. Save yourself from this terrible experience and go to Drive Safe instead! Cheaper, easier, and had very kind and helpful employees

Negative experience: There are some driving instructors that will just yell at you because you messed up even though it's your FIRST time learning how to drive. The workers there at the office constantly messed up my times and told me wrong information about their policies. Recently, their staff have been getting worse and worse each day.

Fantastic experience: Wish I had known about this before we invested $$$$$ in our local driving school. The staff is incredibly customer service oriented (even letting me text them documents to ask them if correct); The instructor compassionate and patient; The process SUPER EASY as they are affiliated with the DPS. and my daughter got in very easy without a lot of lead time and then took the test the same day as her guided lesson - with the same instructor. We then took her paper work to the DPS about 15 min away and she got her license. Low stress way to get a teen's drivers license! (NOTE - for my son's experience, the Garland DPS mega center was a great place for his permit - as you can book an appointment online and get text status -- but HORRIBLE for the actual drivers test ..... a wait of two hours, even with an appointment, the tester questioning our insurance and insisting on calling the insurance co directly, then taking off points for my son's 'nervousness' .... 'saying 'you're a good driver but i can tell you were nervous. you only checked your mirrors every 6 seconds instead of every 4 seconds." Never there again. Right Start all the way.

Fantastic experience: If you need to take a road test to get your drivers license and want to avoid testing at dps. I highly recommend this place. They are a third party tester authorized by the dps. Instead of waiting for months for an appointment at the dps, you can schedule your road test and get an appointment within a few days, sometimes, same day. Keep in mind this may be more expensive than going through the dps but it is worth every penny. The staff was friendly, My daughter's tester was very nice. Gave excellent feedback and advice and seemed to genuinely want to help. And we didn't have to wait months to get into the dps.

Negative experience: Last month my daughter had a driving time and her instructor was this SARCASTIC woman that was EATING and using her PHONE!! Also, she took her driving test recently and failed because she was unprepared due to the teachers. DON'T let your kids come here and go to Sears or something. Fantastic experience: I highly recommend scheduling a drive test here at Right Start Driving School, rather than going through the weeks or months long wait for an opening at the DPS. The school office is staffed with friendly and capable people who are helpful. In addition to drivers' ed and the drive test, RSDS offers a 30 minute "Evaluation" which is really a lesson on every part of the drive test. I found it very reassuring to speak with Lonnie about my concerns, and he focused on those areas with my daughter during the evaluation. While good driving and safety definitely come first, the atmosphere is not intimidating to a young person.

Negative experience: I think this place is a decent place to go to for driving school, but a couple of people there can ruin an opinion for any person. If you did not take any of their courses and come in to take the driving test only, please ask for David, one of their driving instructors, he will take the time to talk with you and answer any questions. He was very kind and knowledgeable. In the beginning, we went in for a driving test and the other instructor was rude, condescending and frighten my child. Grant it my child failed the test, this person did not ask, "Would like to go back and reschedule" or "Would like you continue and restart" He made the decision to restart the test. As my child was upset and nervous she failed again. He spoke down to her when instructing her. We rescheduled again, come to find out the forms were incorrect and the 2 test my child previously had taken were invalid. When it explained to me which form was missing and what the form should say specifically, this instructor decided to talk down to me. I personally think this was based on my ethnicity, as if I was uneducated. I brought this up with a person name Patty, who called to deny my rescheduled appointment, she too not only talked down to me, but she decided to call my child a liar when I brought up the incident of the invalid testing and why the instructor did not give my child the option to restart or to reschedule. There was a heated exchange and she stood her ground and defended her instructor. I am not one to complain or write reviews, but this place should be rid of these 2 individuals.

Negative experience: Seen multiple unprofessional acts by this school's staff, such as fake reviews on competing schools (their own too, I'm sure) and reckless supervised driving.

Fantastic experience: I have never seen anything but excellence from the educators, instructors, and examiners at the Right Start Driving School in Carrollton. They teach students of all levels to drive safely, and prepare them in theory and in practice. As in any school, students receive the amount of experience equal to the amount of effort they put into learning. All employees act professionally, but also makes the learning-to-drive experience fun and motivate the students to strive for perfection. The students who graduate from the Right Start program are well-prepared for the streets.

Negative experience: Honestly this place is terrible and the worst. the previous person that gave this place a one star is ABSOLUTELY correct, and I'm assuming these other people are just associated as coworkers that gave this place a good review. I actually took classes here and let me tell you, the second hour i was put on the free way. I had NO experience what so ever but only left and right turns. The teacher is terrible. Sometimes it smells like marijuana. Honestly I would go here if it was because it was close, but other than that the place is awful. This place is dangerous and the people here are unfit to be teachers. I honestly think they can get a better pay as a nanny because they shouldnt teach people how to drive when they do a half assed job.
