PSS Driving School - Tacoma

Fantastic experience: Definitely glad I ended up coming here to do my written and drivers test! All staff was very accommodating and kind (mainly one guy, I didn’t get his name but he was definitely the nicest one there) . At first I had accidentally paid for my drive test and not my written before I passed the written, and they were able to work with me by crediting me that way I would be able to pay for the correct test. I’d recommend doing all tests to this specific place!!

Fantastic experience: Very well-run, professional and polite family business. They had an appointment available less than an hour after I passed my written test to do my driving exam. Upon entering the building my wife and I were greeted warmly and helped me feel more at ease. I believe my instructor was Terry; he was professional but also friendly and open to answering questions. My test was fairly quick and he was articulate and precise in what he needed me to do during my exam. Highly recommend this place.

Fantastic experience: I can't express how professional and kind the Instructor was. He was so respectful to my husband and I. As soon as we set foot in the building, he introduced himself and walked us through the process of the expectations for the drivers test. This is a very well ran family-owned business and I 100% support them and their mission to help people make their first step towards independence to get their license.

Fantastic experience: I took my Driver's skills test yesterday and passed on the first try. My instructor was very professional and gave instructions clearly. It was a smooth process and I would definitely recommend this to someone who has anxiety in taking the test.

Fantastic experience: i just took my drivers exam here and passed! terry is such an amazing instructor. i was nervous before getting in the vehicle and terry immediately calmed my nerves. the directions he gave were clear and he gave amazing tips while on the road during the exam. when it came to discussing what points i missed, terry explained them perfectly and told me how to prevent the mistakes happening again. 11 out of 10 experience!

Fantastic experience: Was really nervous on my drivers test, and my examiner was extremely patient and well spoken which helped me calm down and think carefully. PSS is a grade above most and I would recommend anyone to come here for their license needs.

Fantastic experience: Gary/Terry are great! My brother and I did their drivers ed course and we both have a lot of social anxiety normally, let alone when it comes to learning how to drive! We felt very welcomed and encouraged to learn at our pace and we got a lot of one on one time with Gary and were even able to schedule our drives with the two of us to make us feel even more comfortable. I highly recommend and I have been driving for a year or so since. Very lucky to have had the opportunity to learn from them and very grateful for the extra mile they put in for individuals going through the course.

Fantastic experience: Knowledge test and drive test wise, this school is definitely the best! Their knowledge test was very comprehensive and easy even though most of the questions didn't came up on what I studied online. As per the drive test, I had to retake the test twice here- first was with Gary, while my 2nd attempt was with the other guy. Overall, they were both lax, professional, and patient so if ya'll are looking for a driving school that will make you feel at ease so you can pass the test, this is definitely it!

Fantastic experience: I took a driving class and test at the PSS driving school yesterday. I was very nervous going into the test but the instructors (Gary/Terry) at this school really helped calm my nerves and worked with me on a strategy to help me learn things I was lacking and pass. Gary explained a lot of key things in the 1 hour lesson and made it as simple to remember as possible. I would highly recommend them. My experience here has been way better than I expected and I feel confident driving now. Thank you again for the stellar service.

Fantastic experience: I took my skills test twice in this location. My instructor is Gary, who is very knowledgeable, understanding, and patient. He made sure I was comfortable and safe the whole time he was conducting the test with me. On my first attempt, I was very nervous because I had to use the company car and made plenty of mistakes, and I failed. In the end, Gary took his time to explain what I did wrong and what I could do to improve my driving skills. I listened to all his advice and practiced and passed! It's such a great experience, and I would recommend PSS, especially my instructor Gary, to all my friends and family.

Fantastic experience: I took the knowledge test twice and the skills test three times at this Tacoma location to be able to get my driver’s license. I kept coming back mainly because of Gary! He’s a very patient and nonjudgmental instructor, and he made me feel welcomed to come back each time despite failing. I’d recommend this place because of Gary. :)

Fantastic experience: Just did my driver’s skills test recently and passed! My instructor Gary was great and calm so I was really focused and relaxed while I was doing the test. They really explain everything thoroughly after the test especially on things I need to remember. Overall a good experience and i would recommend it to my fam and friends in the future!

Fantastic experience: Had my driving test the other day with Gary. What an absolute gentelman he is. Many people get nervous, even experienced drivers and he made sure that everything was smooth. He wasn't strict beyond necessity. I passed on my first attempt. the school itself is very available and the rest of the staf are very polite and nice. I used schools car, a small toyota and driving it was pleasure as well. 5 stars it is..

Fantastic experience: A good place to take drivers ed. Took drivers ed, the written test, and driving test there. The head driving instructor does a great job making you feel comfortable with making mistakes. Would recommend it to anyone learning to drive!

Fantastic experience: Never had any issues. They were friendly, informative and did a good job with my son.

Negative experience: Took my wife to get her driving skills test taken and couldn’t use my own car because I only have my rear license plate which is what was given to me by the dealership. The manager told me that it was a state law to have front and back license plate while he had food in his mouth. After looking up the law you can have the rear license plate if that was the only thing issued. Had to pay an extra $25 to use the school’s car and my wife failed by two points. Never again…

Fantastic experience: I took my permit reading test 2 times and I didn't pass not helpful what's so ever. Until Matt helped me reading the question for me and explained what some of the questions mean since my English is the second language. Third time I pass. Just because of Matt how helpful man and professional that's why he earned my 5 star thank you so much for being helpful and professional.

Negative experience: This place is a scam, with hostile workers. I scheduled an intermediate riders course. Paid the 195$, showed up to the class and they wouldn’t let me take the class because my boots were Chelsea style and I didn’t have gloves. Even though the law states you only need a DOT approved helmet. Further more the email they say they sent that stated this; I never received. I only had an appointment reminder. They wouldn’t allow me to reschedule nor get a refund. The workers really seemed to care less. I find it ridiculous how unprofessional they were and made 0 attempt rectify the situation.

Fantastic experience: Calling is impossible to get through.. I had to physically go and find them. Aside from that, Staff was awesome, Respectful, and very helpful! Everything was very easy to do once inside and able to talk to the right people. Fridays have walk-ins available all day without appointments which was super helpful! Had to schedule for my skills tests for a different day.. which was kind of lame, but still manageable. Great Job Guys!

Fantastic experience: I'm taking the driver's education as an adult. The teachers are great and really care about your well being and getting you as prepared as possible for driving. As far as pricing they are substantially cheaper than the other places around here. They do driver's education, private classes, motorcycle classes and WA state tests (written and skill). Terry, Gary, Vickie and Jason have all been absolutely wonderful teachers. Couldn't recommend this place more.

Fantastic experience: I had to go through formality of taking the written and driving skills tests at the age of 39, due to some issues with an expired license and being in the military. PSS and all the employees made it far less stressful and anxiety than it could have been. I would recommend them and their services to anyone of any age looking to test and go through drivers Ed! Fantastic experience: This is the best driving school. I recommend it for all ages. Terry is the sweetest and was very helpful. Their $99 hour class is great it taught me how to Parallel park and how to drive better. I just want to give a big shout out to this driving school.

Fantastic experience: I used PSS to take my written test, and the location is comfortable and laid back while still remaining professional. It wasn't a tense atmosphere and every employee I saw/spoke with was really friendly and kind. The testing process with them was super quick and easy, which is a huge bonus.

Fantastic experience: We have three children and each has attended a different driving school. This was by far the best one that our children have attended! They deserve 5 stars. Thorough education, patient instructors, very communicative. They have online scheduling of drives and reminders both sent to email and text so that the parents are fully aware of appointments. I highly recommend this quality school. If they had been around for the other kids I would have sent all three there.

My instructor for the motorcycle safety course, Jim, was the absolute best teacher and helped so much with a beginner like myself. Fantastic experience: PSS Driving School is awesome! I took the driver’s Ed course and everything was so well explained. The lessons gave valuable information and they used examples and stories to help you understand the content. The instructors I had, Gary and Terry, were very funny and provided good feedback on my drives while remaining calm. Everyone at the school is friendly and tries their hardest to adjust to your needs and answer questions. Overall there is nothing more I could ask for, 5 stars! I recommend it for teens and inexperienced drivers.

Fantastic experience: Good mix of class and bike time. Feel like I learned tools to practice and make me a safer rider. Great feed back on the course to change what your doing incorrectly at the time and then practice or "redemption" rounds! great time with like minded riders and with all the different bikes! like a candy store and great stories.

Fantastic experience: This place is amazing my instructor was named Terry; he was a genuine pleasure to have as my instructor he was cool calm and collected the whole time, he spoke clearly with compassion, gave constructive criticism where needed and didnt put me down at all, he even let me play my own music in their car to help calm my nerves a bit as I am a very nervous test taker. All around this was the best driving testing site I've ever been to I will definitely be recommending this driving school to everyone I know who may or will need a license!

Fantastic experience: I looked around a few places to take my first driving test. Many had concerning reviews. Figured I'd give P.S.S. a try, didn't want to take a driver test with some one who is crotchety and would fail you if they are having a bad day. I was able to schedule and pay for a drive test online during the weekend and decided to drop by the day before while I was on a practice drive. The gentleman at the front was able to verify that I had all the required documents for tomorrow. Then also checked my lights to make sure I could use my own car for the test. We found the high mount break light was not turning on and gave some suggestions to help with the appointment for the next day. When I went to the nearby auto parts store. They did not have what I needed to get the break light working and priced a replacement at around $130 and would have to ship from across the country. Went home and bypassed the broken lights with some soldering. Called early on the day of the test to double check everything. My instructor for the day called me back to assure me, not to worry if the door was locked when I got there and the light would be fine how it was repaired with most of the LED strip lighting up. When I arrived and walked into the building. My instructor was working on something whistling through his teeth. After a cheerful greeting, I grabbed the required documents. He looked over everything and processed the forms quickly. My instructor was very cheerful and friendly through out the test. Being very clear with directions, and putting up with the random questions I would through at him. After the test he gave me a few notes. Sent the test results through. Then let me know where to schedule an appointment to get my license. The receptionist working there then sent me my score when I asked what I had got latter that day. Overall extremely kind and helpful staff. Not even just for driving, as far as customer interaction goes for anywhere I have been. Every one that works here appears to be top notch.
