The Next Street - Southbury Driving School

Fantastic experience: My grandson just completed his driving program with Next Street in Southbury. Kevin Wilkes was his driving instructor and from my perspective he was simply amazing working with my grandson. I have already recommended them to two other people and will continue doing so. Thank you next street for making this process easy.

Negative experience: Really disappointing experience. I paid for the 30 hour course with 8 hours driving plus the extra mock test lesson and to take the test at the school. While the instructor was great scheduling was awful. You have to stalk the website and there was often no appointments available in Southbury. I even had to pull my daughter from school early to get her in. Then the day of the driving test was after a snow. The area where they had to back in to a parking spot was still snowy making the lines hard to see. She touched the line and failed. Her appointment time was early and at that point only one out of 5 had passed and others were upset by the line situation. 1 out of 5 isn’t a great passing rate and if I had known what a pain the whole experience would be I would certainly have spent my money elsewhere.

Fantastic experience: The Next Street was great! Very comprehensive program as well as very flexible scheduling for students and families. Our son just passed his driver’s test on the first try! Shout out to Bob Zaums for his knowledge of the test and detailed instructions on how best to pass and feel comfortable throughout it. Thanks again! Our daughter is also currently enrolled. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: My son took his road test at TNS Southbury. Bob Zaums Host was so welcoming and had a calm nature that helped settle the kids nerves.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely great place to learn how to drive. I had the instructor Ari, twice, for my 3rd and last driving lesson. Hands down the best instructor there. Not only is he great at going through and explaining things, but he has lots of tips and tricks to make you a better driver. He also gave me some papers on the reasons why people fail, and a slideshow to read through to make sure I knew the rules. I have my drivers test next week, and hopefully I’ll pass. If you happen to get him as an instructor for a driving lesson— you’re lucky. You’ll definitely learn a lot, chit chat, and become a better driver in the long run, not just for the test. (Which is important)

Fantastic experience: Great place to begin your drivers education. I had a good experience with both the online instructors and in-car driving lessons. On the day of my driving test, I spoke with Bob Zaums. He was extremely kind and helpful! He told me what I should expect to do for the test. As well as give me good pointers to watch out for! I also want to thank Fulesica in Watertown for her support and friendliness during the lessons!

Fantastic experience: We had a great experience. The class room the driving was all top notch. I wish I could remember all the teachers names. We worked with Bob Zaums the day of the test. He was good at giving my son some last minute reminders and helping him stay calm and ready for the test. I am glad to say with the schools help he passed first try. Thank you

Fantastic experience: Ari is a terrific driving instructor. He taught my son how to deal with the most challenging aspects of driving. What a confidence booster! My son had a huge smile on his face when he came back from his lesson. What a huge difference Ari made in his driving. Immediate results! Thank you, Ari! Fantastic experience: I had the pleasure of driving with Ari yesterday and truly felt the most comfortable i’ve ever been driving. He was very nice and understanding and helped me with parking, lane changing, highway travel, K-Turns, Scanning, and most importantly for me, how to properly turn at intersections. Negative experience: I had a very bad experience. I arrived for my appoitment 15 minutes early as I was asked, but then waited for over an hour to take my test. The instructor was very ornary and not pleastent to be around.

Fantastic experience: class was fun tbh. good class days, instructors, etc.! Edit: I lied. They only made me write this for an A+ and i still don't know how to drive.

Positive experience: Brandon was a stellar teacher and the environment was relaxed and welcoming. Taking four hours of classes every Sunday (I chose the 4 hour class option) was hard, especially as a high school student, but it was worth it and the fun I had in class certainly made the longevity bearable.

Positive experience: Super easy to find. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. The 8 hour class with the parent is a big waste especially when the kids school drills the same information into the kids head. Do not take your license at the school unless you don’t mind waiting 7 days to get it at the DMV and another 3 to 4 for it to come in the mail. My child hasn’t been able to even go to the DMV to even take her picture in over a month because I just can’t get back to the DMV and take more time off from work for her to get the license. Total, complete waste of money to take test at the school. Classes are not as flexible to ones schedule like they state, so make sure you don’t miss any class including drive time.

Fantastic experience: We are very grateful to instructor Mike for staying behind a half hour after my daughter's class to jumpstart our dead car battery. Thanks to him, we made it home safely. He was also a kind and well-informed instructor. Thank you, Mike!!!

My teacher was informative, keeping the class interesting while maintaining the students attention on what was important (safe driving). It is clear that Next Street is here to help students succeed (96% do pass their license test!), creating a safe environment for students to learn how to drive. I feel so much more prepared to get on the road, and who knew drivers ed could be both educational and fun!

Fantastic experience: Sarah is a wonderful teacher and makes a 4 hour class wiz by. She makes sure you understand the topic and she helps explain it with interesting stories. She’s a very nice, caring, and knowledgeable teacher. The Next Street is a wonderful place to learn thoroughly about the road and driving.

Fantastic experience: My experience with the Next Street in Southbury so far has been fantastic. Each morning, students are greeted by the enthusiastic instructor Sarah. Her real-world stories help us students to really grasp an understanding of the class topic. If we are learning about road rage, Sarah will add to the lesson by sharing her experiences with said topic. She also allows others in the classroom to share their own experiences with any lesson we are discussing. This discussion, along with watching videos and answering questions in the workbook, really supplies a well-rounded driver's education in my opinion. In addition, the Southbury location is easy to access, which is ideal for new drivers who are looking to get some extra practice in before class. I feel that I will be ready to take my license test thanks to Sarah and the Next Street. Would highly recommend! :)

Fantastic experience: Would highly recommend the Southbury location to any teenager wanting to learn how to drive in a calm, intuitive enviormment. The instructor is kind and down to earth with the students, there is an integration of technology in the clasroom, and students aren't boerd for the time they are here. I would recommend it over the other schools for these various reasons, and for the hands on driving they offer.

She is intellectual and has very good advice!! I would honestly reccomend this driving school because it's a really good value for the money, the content of the courses are very good and I highly recommend getting The Next Street Driving textbook as it's really handy to have around even outside of the classroom. - Carl

Fantastic experience: As a student currently taking classes at TNS Southbury, I can say that this has to be the best driver's ed class option in the area. The classes are laid back and informative. My instructor, Sara, runs the class in a way that allows us to apply what we have already experienced on the road to what we are learning, which is a structure which really works. Compared to the stories I have heard from my friends of boring classes, my experience has been great!!! Would definitely reccomend this school to anyone, especially the 30 hr. course option! Great price value and wonderful staff!
