1st Munros' Driving Instruction, Inc.

Positive experience: Testing locations leave a LOT to be desired. I saw another person take issue with the testing being in Mt. Vernon and got a very poor response from the owner. In my case, I live in Central Whidbey. The ONLY available testing locations they have as options through their website scheduling are in Mt Vernon, save for a single date at the Oak Harbor location (yes, I saw that there was a date for OH). This is 1.5 hours away for us. Certainly they can do better than a single date and time (from now through July) at the Oak Harbor location. When we initially scheduled the classes this didn't seem like it would be a foreseeable issue, but now that a few months have passed, we feel like we're kind of stuck with them. As for instruction, my child mostly had a positive experience in class and behind the wheel. The testing location issue is really upsetting though. I might have given 5 stars if there was even a handful of reasonable local testing options.

Negative experience: School cancelled multiple drives. Now school is saying there is another test that must be taken, in Mt Vernon, and it's an additional $35 on top of their $530 fee. After that, another final drive needs to be scheduled for an additional $80 on top of the $530 and $35. This school is a scam. When you pay the fee, you think you've paid it all, but they make you pay more and more. Also, it's not local, they make you drive 45 minutes away for some things. I regret using this school, will never again, and wouldn't advise anyone to use it.

Negative experience: At first i found the checking the reviews from the website it gave a good impression,but when Im started my road test, I felt I was robbed, It was so quick and I fell I was rushed and the instructor's instruction was not so clear and will try to confuse you and put you under pressure, My experience with this driving school was terrible and will not recommend to anybody.

Fantastic experience: I had Teresa as my instructor and she was awesome. I have always been intimidated by driving but she made me feel comfortable. She was very direct and told me what I need to work on so I can practice outside of our sessions too. I passed my road test after only three sessions with her. Overall, I highly recommend taking classes with Munros’.

Positive experience: The school and level of training is excellent. I have had 5 children learn how to drive through Munros in Oak Harbor. I can’t give 5 stars because one of the instructors was very rude and quite unprofessional. So, if you don’t mind being treated poorly, your child will receive fantastic driving instruction here.

Fantastic experience: As someone who recently obtained their license after taking private lessons with Munro’s, I definitely recommend them. Teresa was an excellent instructor that makes the driver feel relaxed behind the wheel. The driving proctor Geno was also very calm and patient, encouraging the driver through minor mistakes. For those who are thinking about going to 1st Munros Driving Instruction, it is definitely worth every cent.

Fantastic experience: Teresa is a great instructor. She genuinely cares for the students and wants to teach them safe and confident driving. I highly recommend getting classes from this school.

Negative experience: Majority of the teachers here don't let your kid really experience driving they use the brakes alot even when your kids know what your doing

Positive experience: I had Barb as an instructor, and throughout my course she was always very clear on specifics when it came to the material. I felt very comfortable asking questions, and needing clarification. Classes always ran smoothly and on schedule. I also appreciated the kindness of the place, and how easy it was to communicate with staff!

Fantastic experience: Very professional and knowledgeable. Really cares about the student drivers and making sure that the kids are prepared to take on the road. My daughter had nothing but positive feedback.

Fantastic experience: The office is really helpful and always picks up calls. Most of the instructors are really nice as well.

Negative experience: My first experience with this driving school was positive. I was two pointsI was two shy of passing my first driver's test. Told by the test instructor that if I came back in the afternoon he was certain I would be able to pass the rest. My next experience was not excepable. The rest instructor was Visibly in a bad mood. She had been Arguing with the previous client. I feel that her argumentative mood followed her directly into my test session. With her mask on and her soft voice it was difficult to understand the direction that she was giving me. I Failed this test in a matter of less than 5 minutes... I feel that this test Giver wasUnprofessional at the very least.

Fantastic experience: i’m finished taking the drivers ed course here at Munro’s and it’s definitely an experience worth paying for. The classes are easy to understand and are well taught. there is one person at Munro’s that has helped me learn the most and help me figure out some of mu issues, my driving instructor- Ms Teresa is very understanding, and makes driving fun Ms.T makes you feel relaxed and not stressed out and you and her can crack jokes while driving and talk shes a very open person and doesn’t judge you anyway shape or form

Fantastic experience: I took my driving courses here and my instructor was Jeff. He was very friendly, was very patient with his teaching and never made me feel like I was doing anything wrong. He taught the class I was in and made every subject of driving easy to understand and made me more excited to drive. Very professional, loved my experience!!

Negative experience: I am a student that goes here and I just want to say I hate this place it made me feel bad about myself driving and scared me out of driving for 5 months. I was relieved when my driving lessons were over but I still have to do the driving exam and most of the reviews you see are from parents that don't know what their children are going through and they are getting a DISCOUNT FOR GOOD REVIEWS!

Fantastic experience: Monroe's Driving is very professional and the teachers all know what they're doing. The teachers make sure that their students grasp the concepts they're taught and make sure to also incorporate some fun into the curriculum.

Fantastic experience: My son is 15 and in the process of getting his license. With COVID restrictions I think they're doing great, getting everyone through the drivers ED process. My son had his 5 hour instructor training with Jeffrey; who was super cool. Always gave me feedback after each drive and most importantly my son felt comfortable and learned a lot from him.

Positive experience: We want to give 5 stars for Karilynn. She was a phenomenal instructor. She encouraged and supported our student. She even went above and beyond by staying in touch to confirm our student followed through with the written and drive tests. We struggled a bit with understanding the processes and fees between completion of the course and the final written test and driving/skills test. The staff was not easy to talk to for clarification. They provide a step by step process to register for the course, it would also be helpful to receive a step by step process after completion of the course. Overall, a good experience, especially through all the COVID restrictions. THANK YOU!

And calm and made my driving test experience way better than I thought and I passed! So if you dont want to deal with moody dmv instructors go to 1st Munro's!

Fantastic experience: Overall had a very good experience. My 17 year-old son enjoyed the classes and received good feedback on his drives with Barb. She is calm, but quick to respond and give needed assistance. She is also easy to work with regarding schedules and planning. We chose one of the summer classes because of busy schedules during the school year.

The instructors were knowledgeable and helpful when answering any questions or concerns that my son had in regards to driving an automobile. She felt comfortable with her during the driving sessions and her overall confidence improved over the duration of the class. Fantastic experience: When I first started the class I had almost no experience. After the class, I felt so confident behind the wheel no matter where I was at. The teachers are excellent at what they do and make sure to answer all of your questions. They’re very efficient and teach you all the basics about driving. This class is definitely worth taking for beginners and even for people with a little experience.

But when I got through the class and Behind the Wheel training, it wasn't as bad as I expected. The teachers are very considerate when it comes to their students' learning and I'm glad I learned here.

Fantastic experience: I'm a parent, I had some concerns that my son would not be engaged and thus would not excel, which can make one apprehensive about the costs. The weeks flew by. My son looked forward to attending class, took it seriously (which is surprising since my son is 15), and excelled. When he is behind the wheel, I am a little less nervous because this course has really taken him far. I do suggest driver's ed for any new driver and would absolutely recommend Monroe's.

And I have to say I totally recommend them to any adults who haven't received their license yet. Positive experience: Munros' teachers are great and kept things fun while providing solid instruction. The only reason for 4 stars is the cost, which is just crazy when you have multiple kids going through these classes.
