Primo Driving School

Negative experience: My wife prepaid for lessons on August 1st for our daughter. She didn't get a response until the middle of September. After 10 emails back and forth over 3 days we finally figured out she needed a permit from the DMV. We got the permit the next day. We emailed and called. No response until October and after many phone calls and emails. We asked for our money back and they finally sent an instructor (he was very nice). She had lessons for 3 days and we were told to call Vince about the road test. We called and sent texts to the number the instructor gave us. No response again. We gave up. It was utterly ridiculous to get in touch with someone. They do not answer the phone, texts, or emails. I paid for lessons and the road test and I am lucky i even got the lessons.

Fantastic experience: I had a young new au pair who was going to be responsible for driving my son back and forth to school. I wanted to be able to assess her driving ability and go over the rules of the road in the United States. Lou was able to accommodate my request and sent Nicole to help me out. Nicole spent a couple hours with my au pair and gave me great feedback. I felt very reassured turning over my vehicle and my son after her assessment.

Fantastic experience: Primo is an extremely top notch driving school. The level of professionalism, careful coaching and a real desire to ensure new drivers are well equipped for the road is second to none.

Negative experience: If there was a zero star that’s what I would give. My daughter took the course and on her next to last day was sideswiped by a tractor trailer in north Caldwell. I know accidents happen however her instructor told her to speed up rather than be on the cautious side The truck then could not see the car which my daughter was driving and struck her. Thank God she was ok. The instructor never came back to complete her hours and rather just sent a completion certificate. She now has her test next week and they want more money for the instructor to be there. My daughter now does not even want to take the test because she is traumatized from the accident Take your child elsewhere !!

Negative experience: while training a student driver . the driver failed to yield to a woman with a baby cross the street . I purposely blocked the street so the woman with child can cross the street . Primo driving service then honked the horn . I then told the driver and the instructor to wait as the woman crossed the street . As soon as they were able to proceed the instructor cursed at me while he was with a customer . I wouldn't recommend there services to no one

Negative experience: UPDATE: While Primo was quick to reply here, unfortunately they have still NOT replied to my voice messages, Text messages, Emails, Contact-Us or Registration. These were made nearly two months ago. Primo Driving school are unprofessional and lacking respect. I've called numerous times and left messages but no one got back to me. I emailed multiple times but did not hear back. I even signed up but never heard back. DO NOT WASTE your time and effort on them.

Fantastic experience: Primo Driving School is definitely a 10/10 service. Cost is reasonable and they don’t skimp out on your time. They’re punctual and can teach a guy like me with terrible eyesight how to properly parallel park a car (literally taught me the way in less than 15 mins). Marc is definitely the GOAT at parallel parking. I had an understanding of how to do it the right way and he just got me to the finish line. Got my license today btw.

Fantastic experience: Hello, I had Sir Jah as my driving instructor for my road test, he is very knowledgeable, kind, and so calm teacher. He listens to the student's concerns about driving and that is when you know you got the right instructor to teach you. He will help you ease the anxiety you may feel while driving. I would recommend him to any of my friends and family. He is the BEST Instructor you can get around Essex County, (I had other instructors before that is very rude. I am grateful I had Sir Jah this time) if you get a chance to pick an instructor, request for him, you won't regret it. If I can only give him10 stars, I would. Fantastic experience: I have to say that the service at Primo driving school is top notch. My son was about to take his road test today and at the last moment we learned that he could not use the car because there was no emergency hand brake. This happened right when he was about to pull away to start the test. The gentleman gave us two hours to find a car. That was a bit stressful. I called Primo Driving School and I asked him if he had anybody who can take my son out on such short notice. Initially he could not do that for me as we were in Wayne. Which was totally understandable. However Within 10 minutes he called us back to let us know he was able to locate somebody in Randolph. When I told the instructor I was in Wayne he was still willing to help us out. In the interim I was able to find another driving instructor from another school who was already in the road test line. My son was able to take the road test. Kudos to Primo Driving School for going above and beyond trying to help us out even though we ended up with someone else. Your efforts did not go unnoticed.

My daughter had no confidence in herself, was instructed incorrectly in her previously driving lessons with another school. For the last 11 month leading up to her test, every time we drove as the passenger / chaperone for our daughter, she went over the rules that Vinnie taught her first verbally, then through practice, instinctively. Fantastic experience: Today I passed my driving test due to the help of P.D.S. . The staff there is amazing and very realistic with the students attending there. I drove alongside Mickell, Alvan, and Diana all very informative instructors. They prepare you for everything they will be looking for mainly during the driving test like blindsides, beware of the curb when parallblindsided, 3 point turns, etc. Everything you need to know. The whole staff is very cool and respectful. I took my lessons mostly with Mickell and Alvan. The 5 hour class isn't really 5 hours more like 3 or 2. They give you pointers and tips to help you through most things Alvan even text me a couple steps he made in order to help. So I can honestly recommend this driving school t anyone.

After some consideration we decided to move forward using Primo. Without a doubt the best decision in this process. The instructor Vinnie was excellent and helped our niece pass w ease. Fantastic experience: They are great people. We used them not only for my son's 6 hours of instruction, but also for him to take the road test. The instructors are polite, professional, and helped not only with the driving skills, but with tips to make him feel more confident on the test. I recommend using their car when your child takes it. Rob, the instructor, guided us through the process, and you know their car will meet the DMV requirements. They made everything less stressful.

He takes the time to understand the student's learning style, and he adapts his instruction to meet students' needs. Ryan explains the goals and objectives of each lesson prior to the lesson, and he provides feedback to the parent and student at the end of each lesson. I recommend Ryan to anyone who is looking for an instructor who can meet different learning styles and be sensitive to individual student needs. Ryan uses his creativity and positive reinforcement strategies to motivate students and build confidence. He is also very empathetic to nervous parents! Ryan Lynch is, in a word, AWESOME!!!

Fantastic experience: I hired Primo Driving School for my daughters' behind the wheel driving and was very happy. Lou the owner was very personable and helpful and made the entire process easy. He was very accommodating to everyone's schedules and was quick and efficient in handling the paperwork and any questions. Both of my daughters passed their road tests and liked their instructor Bernie very much. He didn't make them nervous or anxious at all, and I was comfortable getting in the car and driving while they were on their permits. The morning of the road test we were all very nervous and the instructor who brought them Rob was very calm and helpful. Fantastic experience: We found Primo Driving School to be just that… a really primo school! The website was very useful and when meeting the owner, we felt in addition to knowing the business, he was a family man that cares. All the initial paperwork to complete 6 hours behind-the-wheel driving was handled thanks to Lou and saved us so much time. In fact, from start to finish, Primo handled all the details. Instructor Paul gave us the confidence to face the emotional reality of seeing our daughter behind the wheel of a vehicle! She had no prior driving experience, but we learned she actually had an advantage then to learning the “correct way” to drive without having to unlearn any incorrect habits. Our daughter was so happy with Instructor Paul and stated “he is an excellent instructor!"

The response was quick, and they squeezed us into the schedule immediately. Negative experience: I tried. They never picked up the phone to set a schedule. When I got on schedule, the instructor cancelled. Finally I got tired of excuses without a single driving lesson.
