What really impressed us was their efficiency—when the state’s testing appointments were backed up for weeks, SafeWay Driving was able to schedule us for the very next day! The process was smooth and stress-free, and after passing the test, we took their packet to the DMV and had my son’s driver’s license in hand in less than 10 minutes! My teenager took several driving lessons with SafeWay and I’m absolutely impressed with the improvement in her driving abilities afterwards. They teach excellent driving habits and techniques, I feel so much more comfortable letting her drive on the roads in Houston, thanks to them. The communication and support staff was kind and always responded quickly to any inquiries as well. Thank you!

Negative experience: HIGH ALERT: Stay away from this driving school. They take your money and then have no driving lesson times available. M response to Safeway Driving School's speedy reply: I know you like to try to give this spiel - perhaps spend this time hiring more drivers and purchasing cars. That number is useless unless you report how many people you have signed up across how many centers. Deplorable.

Fantastic experience: It is in the best interest of everyone on the road for new drivers to have attended a driving school that teaches them proper protocols on the road and the law. It is obvious from today's drivers that so many did not make that choice. This is an investment into your new driver!!! I have had one child complete the school and one currently attending. The one who has been driving for a year on her own is an amazing driver! I credit this school! The school has top notch instructors who are amazing at preparing new drivers for the road. The staff behind the scenes will work with you to arrange times for these lessons that works best for you and your new driver. The manager is amazing! This is by far the very best driving school and you can't NOT afford to invest in this for your new driver. Putting new drivers on the road who are ill prepared to deal with Houston traffic and who are unaware of laws will cost you much more in tickets and insurance rate increases due to wrecks. This school is much lower than that will be!!!! I am so glad I did this for my children!

Fantastic experience: Parents- I encourage you to sign up your 15 yr olds with SafeWay! Let SafeWay teach your kiddos to drive while you maintain your good relationship with your kids! Plenty of time to drive with them after Safeway’s program! They make the licensing and testing understandable and help you through the documents and the process. Just used them for the third kid and couldn’t be happier!

Fantastic experience: The front desk staff are friendly and helpful. Both my kids went to the memorial location. Maybe the cost is a little bit more than parents' coaching, but less of a headache, and struggling. Safeway driving instructors at Memorial are great too. They are knowledgeable, understanding, and patient. You may choose Safeway driving at Memorial if you want less tension and frustration in coaching your child.

Positive experience: The instructors are great. The issue is you cannot get into any drives and you charged if you do not complete within a period of time. They sell package deals but you can’t book drives?! It is literally impossible to book drives. Now they release drives on Friday and I still can’t get any drives online. This place is very convenient location for us, Unfortunately, I won’t be using this service for my other children. It’s too big of a hassle and has made our lives harder .

Fantastic experience: Took my test earlier today through Safeway and I could not be more grateful!! Apple Maps was funky on the way there, and I was already anxious coming in so I was extra anxious AND frazzled from getting lost, but everyone was so kind!! They calmed my nerves down, and I was triple reassured that I WOULD pass and I did!! Thank you to the whole memorial team for being so wonderfully kind and motivating. Also, the communication up to the test was great!! I had a few bumps on the road (pun not intended) actually scheduling the test itself, but everyone was very accommodating and very very kind.

Fantastic experience: If you're having any doubts about the SafeWay driving program, cast them aside. Our family has had two drivers go through SafeWay's driving school and it was time and money well spent. The students enrolled in the SafeWay program go through a very thorough curriculum through online courses and behind the wheel instruction. By the time a student is ready to take the driving test, he/she is well prepared to navigate big city traffic. Being able to take the driving test through SafeWay was extremely convenient and put our kids' minds at ease knowing there would be a familiar person with them when taking their driving test. Our young drivers have had great experiences with the SafeWay instructors and continue to speak highly of both Stewart and Clyde. The office staff is extremely helpful in answering questions and accommodating with scheduling. We have enjoyed our experience with SafeWay and are confident that our children have been taught well. Thank you to Cindy and the staff at SafeWay Memorial for making drivers education a less stressful experience for us as parents and our teen drivers.

If you do what they tell you to do and schedule your drive times on Monday afternoons when the schedule comes out, you will have no issues. They were extremely responsive to all of my questions and requests. Cindy and Susan were amazing! Highly recommend Safeway driving memorial, just do what they tell you to do and you will be fine!

Fantastic experience: I've had a wonderful experience with SafeWay. The entire process was smooth for me. The online portal was easy to use. The staff is friendly and extremely helpful. I was very comfortable with my driving instructor. He taught me a lot and knowing he was right there next to me made me feel even more comfortable.

Fantastic experience: Update: After posting the below review the SafeWay management team reached out and with the help of Mrs. Cindy we were able to get the complications with scheduling worked out for the remainder of the lessons. The instruction and professionalism from the instructors was never a concern so all good there. With all that said I do highly recommend this driving school and just suggest if you have scheduling complications reach out to Cindy to assist. ****** We are more than 3/4 of the way through the program and I wish I would’ve gone a different direction. We paid for the upgraded package thinking somehow scheduling would be easier. It’s not, as many others have already mentioned. My son loves the instructors but actually scheduling a drive is a very difficult process. Parents are required to login on Mondays at 3:30 and book available spots as they’re posted until 530. You sit and basically press refresh and hope to get a slot pop up. It’s frustrating.

Negative experience: Got no service with this company. Their system is glitchy and their appointments for the driving are full, yet they put a time limit on you for finishing it on time. This is the third time I paid them for extension, but my son was not able to sign in. They have wasted my time and my son’s time, they are very expensive and so not worth it. Will not recommend this company to anyone. If I could give them a zero star I would.

Negative experience: My experience has been horrible!!! I’ve tried 5 weeks in a row to get drive time, unsuccessful… I sent an email, they schedule my son for 3:30, that’s the time he gets out of school… the hours of operation on their website, I think are wrong…. These people expect to work Monday through Friday 9-5, when their clientele are students getting out of school at 3:00 3:30 4:00…

Negative experience: very difficult to get a ride, horrible customer service, infuriating website. save yourself the time and money and go with an alternative

Negative experience: It is very difficult to actually book the lessons and tests with the school. You have to log in on Monday afternoon and try and scramble for slots, often getting nothing at all, which makes it hard to finish the course. Booking the DPS test is even harder; hardly the seamless process they promise. They rarely if ever return phone calls and almost never pick up the phone, so you are stuck with the online scramble for slots. The driving lessons are actually ok, when you can get them.

Fantastic experience: I am surprised by some of these poor reviews. I usually read reviews carefully before purchasing any item or service but I didn’t have the time to do it for this one and I am glad I didn’t ... everything went so WELL that I decided I had to write it up. I had called many other driving schools and they were one of the few to reply promptly and professionally. I am basing this on repeated communication, both by phone and email. When I finally met with them, they were friendly, helpful and very efficient. And lastly, but most importantly, my instructor was excellent. Successful and effective teaching is not easy (try having a family member teach you and see how that goes ) I am a real client, not a friend of theirs or neighbor, and I only post reviews in general when I feel there is good reason to. All in all I would highly recommend them.

Negative experience: Would give zero stars if it was an option. Scheduling drive is a joke. It opens up on Monday 3:30 pm and then you need to keep trying until the system got stuck. I wasted 40 minutes to schedule a drive for my son. This company is not hungry and not into customer service. Nobody will pick up a phone when you call.

Positive experience: Cindy was super helpful and resolved our issues promptly! Safeway Driving School!!! So I cancelled a drive on March 13th at 2:00pm, the time the President first addressed the nation of Covid and school was closed but they still charged me a $75 cancellation fee. Now they have extended the allowed time to get in 7 drives until June 23rd, but have no times at all!!!! Thus will charge even more money for each drive. I’m waiting on a call from the manger but these does not seem legal with what’s going on. Anyone else dealing with this please comment below. I’m going to take this to their corporate office and further if needed. I’m fed up. Warning to those considering Safeway. I wish I had known. Even before the pandemic we had a hard time scheduling.

Negative experience: Really disappointed in their pricing. Online course part is only $45 which is great however they want $200 for 2 hours of drive time for a teenager! And that according to the website is “discounted” edit-she is 20 so too old for your teenage class but still needs full instruction so AGAIN you are charging $100 per hour on a 2 hour lesson while everyone else in the area charges around $65.

Negative experience: Safeway driving school was a horrible experience for me. I hated it. The online coarse is a joke and gives you security questions every hour that if you get inncorrect you can't get back in for 24 hours. The drives are even worse they won't pass you if you make the smallest mistake and they make you say and call out pointless things while driving. I would not recommend safeway driving school to anyone, ever.

Positive experience: This place is pretty ok apart from the online course really. The driving lesson themselves aren't actually that bad but the online course is so painfully slow and badly designed that I keep YouTube open in another tab at the ready to keep me entertained. Every slide has a timer on it, so when it may take you 30 seconds to read what's on the slide, you have to wait another 30 just to move on to the next. This adds up when you're dealing with 150 slides a lesson. Add in the fact that every three slides is a cringey instructional video (seriously, I groan every. time.), and that half of said videos are useless (there was a video about how to proceed at a green light. Another piece of my life I will never get back), AND they make you look at unnecessary review slides at the beginning and end of each lesson, and you have a recipe for the most boring 2-3 hours of your life. On top of that, the little quiz that you take after, which actually doesn't suck that bad, doesn't let you go back to change your previous answer. ~Oops, I checked the wrong choice and hit next. It's ok I'll just go back and fix it. Oh wait! I can't! Guess I'm just screwed.~ Now, the crappy programing of their online lessons isn't the end of the world, but I'm warning the people that are going to take this course- you're gonna hate it. And to the parents of any teens that are going to take this course- your kids are gonna complain for a solid 20 minutes after they're done. But hey, it'll keep them safe and give them a way better chance of not getting into an accident so at the end of the day, I just deal with it because I know it's helpful and I know it works.

Fantastic experience: My instructor was amazing! Her directions were explained very clearly and easy to follow. More importantly, she made me feel safe and gave me the confidence to overcome my driving anxiety. I would most definitely recommend SafeWay Driving to teens and adults and Ms. Maggie at the Memorial location.

Positive experience: My experience with Safeway each day I took a course was completely dependent on the teacher I had. Some where kind and proper and others were obscene and rude.

Negative experience: the lessons are outdated. the driving instructions are just bad. even the quiz you have to take at the end of every lesson (online courses) have questions that have no importance or relevance to actual driving.

Negative experience: Classroom instruction is great. The drives are fine BUT YOU CAN NEVER GET ONE! The system of trying to log in when everyone else is on monday afternoon is stupid. There are not enough drive times available for students after school or night or weekends! Has I known this I would have never signed up with them! It must be their way to make you pay the additional $150 to extend your deadline. SHAME on you Safeway!

Negative experience: This driving school has honestly been one of the worst experiences I have ever had. My first issue with safeway is GREED. They over charge for garbage with makeup on. My second issue with this company is Bad Customer service. When u call safeway they either do not answer or act excessively rude. The most IMPORTANT REASON NOT TO GO TO SAFFEWAY IS: you can never book a time to drive. They consistently over book and leave many students with out times. This leads back to greed where they enjoy adding extensions around $150 to your plan. NEVER USE THIS DRIVING SCHOOL!!!!

Negative experience: worst experience ever! Almost impossible to schedule drives. My daughter has one drive left and I have been trying for over a month to schedule it but there are never any drive times available. Finally today, I log on and see three drives and they are all during school hours the first week of school. Do not use this company! They are extremely rude in the front office and don't bother calling because they never answer the phone.

Fantastic experience: My daughter is enrolled in the "Driver's Ed At Your Speed" program at Safeway. I have never seen a better program for young adults with special learning needs and different learning styles. Safeway has provided a responsible, safe, and genuinely caring program to facilitate the accomplishment of a "right of passage" for today's youth with disabilities. There is no better program out there!! Thank you, Safeway...My daughter and I will be forever grateful because your program has given her the ability to accomplish her goal of creating more responsibilty and greater independence in her life.
