This school not only prepares you to be a safe and professional truck driver but they go above and beyond to make sure you know as much a possible to be successful. The in class instructor JC is a top notch teacher who will make sure you know and understand what you are doing. His is unparalleled with his wealth of knowledge and first hand experience over the course of his career. He will go above and beyond every moment of every day to make sure you are the best truck driver you can possibly be coming out of this school. He alone makes it worth it to go to this school. The field instructor Robert is equally impressive. His knowledge, patience and dedication is second to none, so come prepared, you will learn a lot. His level of professionalism and integrity are paramount attributes of his character. Their office personnel Heather and Eldon are always there to answer any questions and are prompt to return any and all correspondence. The examiner Thomas is serious and professional. His integrity is uncompromising. Be prepared to learn a lot and you will successfully become a professional truck driver. Everyone at this school works as a team to make sure you are a knowledgeable, safe, and professional truck driver. I would recommend to anyone.

Fantastic experience: I had a great experience at Community Truck Driving School. It’s a 4-week course, and honestly, it’s worth every penny. They really make sure you understand everything and are ready to pass. JC is the man when it comes to the CLP. He breaks everything down in a way that actually makes sense, especially for someone like me who’s 19 and just starting out. Thanks to him, I passed my CLP on the first try. He makes sure you understand all the general knowledge, combination vehicles, and air brakes without making it confusing. Then there’s Robert, the driving instructor. This guy has patience like no other. Learning to drive a truck isn’t easy, but he got all five of us in my class using the clutch in just one day. He knows how to build your confidence behind the wheel, and I can say for sure that I wouldn’t feel as comfortable driving if it weren’t for him. If you’re serious about getting your CDL, this is the place to do it. They take the time to make sure you actually learn, not just pass a test. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: I have searched and have been to many CDL driving courses and have decided to come to community truck driving school the front desk, lady. She was so helpful and explained all the expenses and fees including permit courses and training sessions, after one week of training I have passed the test. The James and Kyle were great in practical training.

Fantastic experience: Graduated in January 2023, can't say enough good things about my experience, Eldon is an awesome instructor in the classroom and has a way of getting through all of the content without it being boring at all, especially because he has real life stories of doing it all. Driving instructors Dewayne and James taught me how to drive manual transmissions and with all the maneuvers all while being patient and friendly, all with the confidence to drive on the open road all through Austin and Central TX after I got a job graduating here, locally and regionally. Now in 2024 I haven't driven a manual in about a year and a half, called the school to schedule a drive to get my feet wet again because I just got my dream job in the Alaskan oil fields and all they have are manual trucks, I rode with Dewayne and he walked me through downshifting again, in just one ride I was able to downshift every gear like back when I graduated, this was the one thing I was worried about before my new job. So I thank all of you instructors for helping me reach the point where I am now, and thank you Thomas for having a school that even graduates can rely on years down the line to call in to get a local, regional or OTR job with the contacts your school has, and the ability to come back and get a drive or two in to break the rust off.

Negative experience: I had a really bad experience and they lied to me and they tell you you will get your license within 4 weeks but you don’t get your license by 6 months and they don’t have any truck available for practice and it’s a complete time waste and money waste and they also don’t give your money they don’t clear your license they only clear the return test and the payment is 4200 so guys I suggest you to practice at home and don’t waste your money or time and if you want your money back they don’t give it back and they say “you have already been here for 4 weeks” they don’t clear your license and you pay 4200 only to get a permit

Negative experience: I went to this school one year ago and it was a bad experience! Over crowded with students and very little practice. I decided to go with automatic because Wayne was very impatient and unprofessional. Just recently I went back to get my manual restriction removed and I had the same experience! Poor trucks and poor instructors. They seem frustrated and like they don’t want to be there. Instead of the instructor asking what I remember and being a real teacher it was more like being bullied! RPM RPM RPM is all I could hear! He never once gave me real instructions! I told him what a bad teacher he was and I walked back to the school. The only reason for the 2 star is because of James. He is the only one that cares and he should be running this school! Did I mention the other so called instructors have side arms too! Id rather pay to be taught the right way that to ever set foot at this school again! Trust me, you’ll regret coming to this school! Waste of time and energy and expensive gas just to be told to come back next week to be yelled at and bullied! Don’t believe me? Just show up and listen to the students. James is the only real professional there! I’m surprised he even sticks around that school! His skills and professionalism would be more valuable elsewhere!

Fantastic experience: It was a great experience for me attending to this school. Professional personal. James driving teacher was very very helpful for me to be able to accomplish and passed my skill and driving test. He try’s his best to get you ready for the final test with Mr. Kelly. The Examiner, great guy, you can tell this man has a lot of years of experience behind the wheel, he is tough and really wants to make sure you will be safe out there and so the people around you. Not going to lie, it took me more time than what I was suspecting but at the end it was all worth it. If you’re thinking on attending to this school, remember, it’s all about the effort you put into it, Good luck.

Fantastic experience: 8 week ago I started my journey with CTDS. I went in very optimistic and with an open mind. The instructor that was there during the first week of the course was very helpful with how to learn and how to obtain the information. The front office staff was very welcoming and always smiled when we walked in to ask them questions or went to into the front office. About a week later I was sitting at my desk taking the written portion of my class B cdl test and passed all of them on my first try. After obtaining my clp in my 2nd week we had moved from the Round Rock location over to the playground to learn the basics of the truck and test drive while also learning how to obtain all the information we would need to pass our pre-trip exam, maneuvers and our road test. Wayne was very helpful and always made sure that we knew everything even if we drove him crazy the entire time with our rowdy bunch. Pretty sure he won’t forget our class. Wayne told us the best way to obtain everything was to write it down word for word and study with the paper and without the paper. Well Wayne was correct and I was able to obtain everything about that truck front to back and side to side. We would also ask Kelly about certain parts and what he would grade on to ensure we had everything correct. Well 8 weeks later I passed my pre-trip, maneuvers and road test. All the instructors and team with CTDS go above and beyond for their students and are always there to help you out. If you go in with an open mind and ready to learn the team will never give up on you. Even if you don’t go in with that optimistic mindset and attitude the team will still be there to help you and push you to achieve your dreams of becoming a truck driver. Thank you CTDS team for everything y’all did for us. It is much appreciated and we’re all thankful for it. Fantastic experience: I, within the last few months, decided to enroll in CTDS and obtained my license. This school prepares you with all the knowledge you’ll need to be successful as well as hands on training that is very beneficial to passing the tests, as well as on the road. Each of the instructors have such a care and passion for what they are doing, they set you up for success! I had a job the following week after completing my course. I couldn’t recommend this school more.

Negative experience: Passed on the 3rd attempt due to lack of practice. The 4 weeks became 3 months because of rarely getting the chance to practice. This school promised over 20 hours BTW time on range and another 20 in city which wasn't the case for anyone in our class. Never saw more than 2 trucks in yard, over crowded class, lazy and impatient instructors. The only reason for the 2 star is James. He is the only one willing to teach.

Fantastic experience: I started community truck driving school on October 3rd 2022 and I graduated November 7th 2022. I did my research on all the schools around the area and this school prepared me the best within 2 days after I graduated I had a job and within 5 days I was working for the company I work with now. The instructors the curriculum and the preparation that the school prepared me for was amazing it actually had me ahead when I went to the company I went to work for. I really appreciate all my instructors they took the time and gave me the attention I needed. Even though the class sizes were large they still treated everybody fairly and took time to make sure that we got the things that we needed. If you're looking for a school not to push you through and you really want to do this as a truck driver this is the school for you. Thank you community truck driving school for changing my life and my family's life.

Negative experience: Honestly, I came to this school with a lot of expectations and hope, however that turned into the opposite. Long story short: I wasted my time, energy, and gas. In addition, yelling and insults from the instructor were another thing. Dusty small place with two trucks and dozens of students was headaches. I never recommend this school to my friends and family! God bless the students.

Fantastic experience: Small, locally owned school that has great instructors with lots of experience. They know the industry and are good at teaching new students what they need to know in order to pass the examinations. Thomas and Eldon are very personable and eager to share their experiences. Kelly and Wayne are patient at working with people behind the wheel, especially those who don't have experience in working manual transmissions. James and Leo are great at working with students on maneuvers and give good suggestions on how to remember what you need to know to pass that part of the exams. All of the teachers emphasize pre-trip inspections and focus on safety, which is immensely important. They offer a variety of vehicles and will work on both Class A and B licenses. They partner with all sorts of businesses for recruiting, whether it be OTR/Long-Haul trucking or local cement haulers. There are frequent visits from Recruiters all through the 4 week course and there are plenty of flyers and posters from many companies, so if you don't graduate and already have a job lined up, that's on you as Round Rock CTDS does their part in helping you find employment when the course is completed. As a small, locally owned business, I highly recommend them if you are looking for something close to home in order to learn how to drive an 18-wheeler.

Fantastic experience: Great school to teach you the basics of truck driving and getting your CDL. I attended the school back in February and aquired my CDL in March. The whole program is about a month long if you really focus and study the material given to you. This school is all inclusive and highly diverse with students of many different races and ethnicities. Through this school you take all the tests in house including your CLP and CDL. The instructor's and the owner are great. They have years of combined experience behind the wheel and really just want you to succeed. Highly recommend going to CTDS.

Fantastic experience: If you are serious about getting your CDL and not wasting money or time then CTDS is the place to be. Mr. Alex is calm and with huge amount of patience. His teaching methods in maneuvering is outstanding. They will make sure you know everything before you even take your test. Thank you Mr. Thomas for sharing some good tips and your experience.

Very comprehensive and you get enough practice time on the maneuvers and 4 days driving and more if u need it. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Thomas the tester was also very calm and a great teacher. He was always willing and able to answer any questions you might have. 10/10!

Fantastic experience: Best driving school to learn everything you need. First Ms Erica is on point with teaching you what you need to pass your test and pre trip. Mr Thomas is the owner he helps in teaching what other people won’t, you learn more than what you signed up for. I was getting frustrated in driving a manual but Alex insured me I would get it he took his time in letting me know what to do to fix the issues. The training staff is awesome. Only complaint is it’s cold during this time lol but awesome job CTDS I would recommend this school.

Fantastic experience: This school has changed my life in a matter of 45 days. Everyone that works there was helpful from start to finish. I graduated about a month ago and continue to this very day to get calls from them to give me leads on Jobs and anyone that is hiring. Erica the classroom teacher was amazing. Explained everything thoroughly and actually cared about her students. Thomas the owner took time to speak with me anytime and wanted and brought a motivation that I haven't felt in a very long time.... And this is something I needed personally on a primal level. Alex the truck driver instructor taught me in a way that I needed, and that was hands on and letting me make the mistakes I needed and then showing me what I did wrong rather than trying to guide me the whole way. For someone like me this made all the difference in learning and obtaining my Class A CDL. I am grateful to him cause even when I doubted myself he instilled in me the confidence that I didn't have for myself at the time. When I questioned whether I could do it..... He told me "you drive better than me" lol, he was being generous with that compliment for sure but it's what I needed to hear at the time and he knew when to say it. I am someone who has struggled to find job opportunities due to my background and I can say that out of 48 hours of job search, I have been accepted to 4 out of 4 jobs. Due to this school I have regained something that I had no idea I lost to begin with..... Fantastic experience: **This is a repost of an old review that got deleted because of an old email account.** I attended Community Truck Driving School in Round Rock about 4 months ago. Upon enrolling and starting my first couple of days in class I was a little concerned about the investment I just made into this school as the school does lack a little organization and professionalism. Couple days into class I met Joseph who would be my driving instructor and coach for the remainder of the course. I can not say enough good things about Joseph as a person and an instructor. Upon meeting him he saw that I was very concerned about the investment I just made into this course and assured me that I was going to pass come test day. I won't name other instructors but I truly believe Joseph is one of the only ones there that actually cares about the people he is teaching and wants them to succeed as much as they do. Without Joseph I know for a fact I would not have my CDL license today. I highly recommend if you go to this school to ask to have Joseph as your instructor and the rest will be history as you walk out of that DMV in a month with your CDL. Overall the school does have some improvements it could make, but with that being said I would recommend this school to anyone looking to get a CDL. Thank you again Joseph!

Fantastic experience: Community Truck Driving School is professional all the way. 100% recommend them. Never drove standard before and Joseph got me up to speed in 2 days. Didn't think I'd learn all the parts of truck and with Anthony's method it was almost too easy. Thomas and his wife run a fantastic school. CTDS got me and my teammate up and running quickly. We've been working and are making great money as a team. Highly recommend driving team if you can find a great teammate. Teams earn more. Plan and put in the work consistently and you'll build a great future for yourself (and family if you have one). We sure are!

Fantastic experience: This is a excellent school if you're interested in becoming a truck driver. From Mr Thomas to all the instructors they are all very much professionals at helping people obtain their cdl. Listen and study and you will get yours. Failure is not a option with this school. Id like to personally thank Mr kelly and Mr Joseph i had a few hiccups but hearing their voices i got the job completed and got my cdl. Thank you guys for all the help yall gave me.

Fantastic experience: CTDS is a great place to learn how to drive. The instructors that were teaching my group were all fun, engaging, and new how to teach. I recommend requesting Steve and Joseph. If you find yourself struggling a little bit don't worry they have a no person left behind policy and they stick to it. Your money will be well spent here. My one criticism for the school is the late starts. School starts at 7 but once you're out of the classroom it usually doesn't start untill 830 - 900 but that's it. I highly recommend CTDS.

Positive experience: I have nothing but praise for all of the staff that work at CTDS. All are extremely helpful and will help you to succeed if you put the effort in on your part. There is only one negative comment that I have and will address this at the end of my review. There are many individuals that I am going to thank for all of their support and encouragement and I will start with Thomas and Brenda, owners of CTDS. These two are the most pleasant people you will ever meet and have nothing but the utmost respect for each of their students. Tim and Steve are nothing but the greatest instructor’s that you can have for classroom fundamentals and for your CDL tests. Anthony will ensure that you learn the Pre-trip and will work with you to ensure you have everything to pass this important part of your test. All are patient and professional in their interactions with students. The most IMPORTANT person that I wish to thank is Joseph. He worked very patiently with all of the “five” to ensure that we were comfortable and at ease with driving that truck. My elbow still hurts for all of the up and down shifting he made me do until I was comfortable in floating those gears. Without Joseph riding shot gun while I learned to drive I know I would not have passed the driving portion of my exam. My only criticism to all staff is that when class starts at 7:00 AM start class on time. All of us students would be there (on-time) waiting for instructors to figure out what truck we were riding with and which driving range we were going to. This usually took until 7:30 - 8:00 each morning which was a lot of time wasted. I passed my CDL tests and now hold a license with a tanker endorsement and start with Werner on 11/11/19. A big Thank You to all at CTDS for the opportunity!

Fantastic experience: Community Truck Driving School really exceeded my expectations. I truly recommend this School to anyone looking to better themselves. Thomas made some great choices in his instructors each one has something different that they bring to the table. They make sure to give you all the tools you will need to succeed. Anthony brings a skill level to the pre-trip section that is unmatched. Joseph as a driver (Trainer) go above and beyond. He takes his job as a trainer to the next level and failure is not in his Repertoire. He can take the ugliest roughest piece of coal and turn it into the shiniest Diamond. Gary is another instructor that can train just about anyone willing to learn. He goes step-by-step into the maneuvers that you will need in order to pass onto the next level. Last but not least Kelly another driver instructor shows you the in’s and out’s of truck driving. He makes sure you will be able to control your tractor trailer on the road you will share with many other drivers. All these instructor’s are what make this School well worth the investment. Fantastic experience: HIGHLY RECOMMEND It took me a while to settle on a school or facility to go train for my CDL, but I couldn’t have picked a better place. Thomas and his Wife couldn’t have chosen better instructors and and more knowledgeable people to teach you EVERYTHING you need to know in the 4 weeks span. Well worth the $$.

Fantastic experience: This is a great school if you are looking to get your CDL, Thomas and his Wife are very helpful and want to see you do well. The pace can be fast at times but if you don’t pick it up and finish in the four weeks time they will still work with you until you reach your goal, as long as you’re showing that it is what you want. The instructors are all different in there own way from personalities, age, and teaching styles so if you don’t grasp something with one, another one will be around to help just have to speak up and let them know.

Fantastic experience: Community Truck Driving School is the best trucking school in Austin, TX! The curriculum at Community Truck Driving School is very comprehensive and easy to understand, providing students with the core concepts of the industry. The Program Director, Thomas Kamanda, and Instructor, Tim Loch are very knowledgeable and have over 30+ years of personal truck driving experience. They explained the CDL-Class A course content in a manner that prepared me for successfully passing the Department of Public Safety CDL-Class A Permit Exam on my first try. The instructors gave me a great amount of driving practice to ensure that I felt comfortable to take the exam and was ready for the drive test. I received my CDL in just a few weeks! They provided a job fair at the end of my training, aligning me with three employment opportunities with local truck driving companies. This organization is very professional, and is extremely committed to ensuring that all of their students successfully receive their CDL-Class A License. I highly recommend this school as it has been a great experience for me!

Fantastic experience: I just completed this school. Before I enrolled I'd done extensive research. This is hands down the best school out there. This is an accredited school with the texas workforce commission. Many schools don't teach manual and you'll never get hired, This school does. Several company recruiters have came in trying to hire us right outta school. Thomas and tim are the instructors and have been driving for decades. Plenty of actual truck driving time and training. One week class three weeks driving. This is the real deal if you're serious about a cdl.

Fantastic experience: You’re not going to find a better trucking school in the entire Austin metro region. Tim is as good as you can get for a driving instructor – he has 30 years of driving experience and he is also a fun guy to hang out with as your teacher. I attended this school recently and just acquired my CDL. There is no other school in the region that has better equipment or better driving instruction. I researched the competition before I started, and the others are just not worth it. They are supportive and easygoing; they put no pressure on you and so you can relax and see the improvements in your skills as time passes in the class. They will offer you tutorial and moral support if you’re not sure of yourself, and they do assist you in your job search. Go with these guys – you won’t be sorry.

It was my first time ever to step on the truck and now after 4 weeks I am a class A CDL holder and working for Evolved Express LLC . Great pay too. Fantastic experience: My only regret here was that I wish I would have started earlier. I wasted my time and money at another CDL service and got no where with them. I finally decided to come to Community Truck Driving School and quickly realized I was in the right hands. Thomas set out a game plan for me and Tim instructed and guided me until I got my CDL. Don't make the same mistake I did, and waste time and money at another "school". Tim is a great instructor and I know for a fact I could not have done it with his knowledge. This isn't a fake review like other "schools' pay for. I came here, put in the work, and earned my reward. Thanks to Tim and Thomas.
