Fantastic experience: Clay was my online driving instructor and is very nice he is one of the most chill guys there is. Jacob the driving instructor is a very chill guy and makes it feel comfortable.

Fantastic experience: through the past couple of months, i’ve had a great experience with dds! for one, clay is an AMAZING instructor! zoom classes with him definitely made me engaged, as he didn’t talk like a robot, so i was actually invested in learning. i drove with glenda on almost all my drives, and she is extremely calm and helpful. regarding becky, i rode with her for my observation, and from what i could tell, she was kind and great at making the driver feel at ease. for my knowledge test, lincoln proctored it and he was very kind. he has a very chill aura that almost made me forget i was testing! i felt much more relaxed during it. on my skills test, i drove with tina, who was great! she was very reassuring and i definitely felt much more relaxed and comfortable while taking the test. overall, i would definitely recommend dds for anyone considering!

Fantastic experience: I chose this driving school for my son after doing extensive research. From the moment I called the school to ask questions to the final drive test my son took, I have had nothing but an amazing experience. The driving instructors are nice, helpful, respectful and patient with students. The zoom instructors are informative, responsive and patient with parents as we asked numerous questions. Each step of the way was a pleasant experience. My son enjoyed the classes and instructors. After being so pleased with the class, we ended up using this school to take his DOL knowledge test and drive skills test. As always, the experience was spectacular. The only thing to complain about is the tiny parking lot at this location. You would need to arrive early enough for any testing to ensure there is available parking. This school is truly outstanding. They made this whole process easier and less stressful. I highly recommend this school for any driving program they offer.

Negative experience: Scheduled an appointment for my son to take his knowledge test for his permit, came into a very rude instructor she refused to give the test! she didn’t even want to give me her name or answer any of our questions as to what he needs to have. She just keeps on saying that she’s in the middle of a test and wouldn’t talk to us. If you need any help this is not the place! I’m sorry but not everyone knows exactly what needed and when people ask questions a business should be able to help direct you to the correct information. They just don’t care! So In short if you have all the answers then this place if for you, if not i would wouldn’t recommend this business. Good luck with this place but I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone save you time and frustration and look else we’re.

Fantastic experience: After a rather unpleasant experience at 911 driving school I was hesitant to try again but Ms. Glenda really helped ease my mind and get me driving again. She is phenomenal and I absolutely recommend. Worth every penny. My only note to say is that at least at the Bonney lake location they are booked out pretty far so plan ahead!

Fantastic experience: So glad we chose Defensive Driving School in Bonney Lake for our son. He had a very positive experience both with Clay for the on-line classroom sessions and Glenda and Lincoln for his driving sessions. He drove with Glenda 4 of his 5 drive sessions and found her to be a great driving coach and enjoyed his sessions with her. He plans to schedule his WA State driving test with her when he's ready. The one downside we found was that the requirement for an "observation ride" was not clearly communicated, even during the parent meeting. Not a big deal as it was easy to schedule but a bit disappointing when he thought he had everything completed. Overall a very positive experience for what is a pretty stressful event in a teen's life.

Negative experience: Lady is super rude and shouldn’t be teaching kids at all . Kids need calm and understanding teachers not grumpy and rude instructors that try to put them down .

Negative experience: I signed my son up for summer drivers ed. The classroom portion was summer, but drives weren’t available until fall (we were not made aware of this when signing up). Still trying to schedule the written and final drive 7 months later. This is a long drawn out process!!

Negative experience: I just can't express enough my disappointment with Defensive Driving School in Bonney Lake. My first mistake was giving them a second chance after my oldest went through the program years ago. Over $1000 dollars and almost a year of trying to complete this class meaning her last drive was completed and passed last week. Which after all of this we are so proud of her. I called today to schedule state test only to learn it could take 3 more weeks for her information to be turned into there main office to schedule her state due to there paperwork needing my be physically turned in by the instructors. Having paid for her state already and wanting to schedule with a certain instructor due to the behavior of there other instructor I learn he will be scheduling in another location only and I can not be refunded for the states test I have already paid for. Again more costs we will be putting out. Now its likely I will have to pay another local driving school to get those test completed. Yet bring my total cost up even more. The only thing I can say good about this school is they are lucky to have instructor Bill. He is the only reason we didn't just eat the $700 appoximate cost of original class I already paid and go to another school all together. Which in the grand scheme of things would have cost me the same amount of money or possibly less in the long run. Instructor Bill made my student feel safe during her redo first drive. He helped her get a feel for the car and encouraged her the she could do this. Which again I had to go with and saw personally. The negative to this is that she had to start over with the drives and needed to feel comfortable driving altogether, requiring me to add a more drives. Again more costs now exceeding $1000. UNFORTUNATELY, he has limited availability this summer from what we hear and not available to complete this process which is why we likely have to finish else where. What I have learned from this experience is when your student wants their parents to attend their drives and gets super uncomfortable at the mention of driving. Go with them. I was completely shocked at the instructors behavior having been in the car. Acutally to be truthful discussed. The instructor intimidated, disrepected, and created an unsafe in environment while my student was trying to drive. Further causing me to end the drive within the first 10 min. Which might I add, I was changed for the drive as a no show. Which a disputed without success. Apparently having her continue creating in unsafe situation on the road would have been a better idea for the school to prevent me from being charged. The first charge of many to come. I do believe there are students and family's who have attended this school and it worked, but for us never ever again. I only share because when you are putting out this much money do you really want to chance it. I know with my last kiddo we will not be taking that chance.

Negative experience: Horrible service. Honestly if you don’t like your job then find another one. We are nervous as it is we don’t need negativity from the driving instructor. I don’t have her name but I do have a picture of her signature. You’ll lose customers if she keeps it up

Fantastic experience: Defensive Driving is amazing! I recently just finished all my classes and my class and drive instructors where so nice! When ever I had a question, it wasn’t overlooked and always answered. I would definitely recommend to any teen looking to get ready to drive :)

Negative experience: Female instructor not too friendly and did not explain what driving student did incorrect so they could work on those issues and practice.

Negative experience: My daughter had a drive scheduled and the instructor was 20 minutes late! If we would’ve been 20 minutes late we would have been charged. I called to ask what was going on and as a result I believe that it made the instructor mad and therefore she took it out on my daughters drive test score sheet. My daughter had all 3 of her tests at her school in the mid 90s and now all of a sudden she scores a 76?! Also the score sheet time was falsified to not reflect the actual start time due to the instructor being late. By the way we went to 911 drive school the following week and she scored a 98. And 911 was only $65 compared to the $90 that defensive charges! I will not recommend and deter anyone I know who is planning on using defensive driving school!!!!

Positive experience: *i just completed my drive test and Bill was awesome. Even though he was aware of my previous review about timeliness he maintained complete professionalism. Most folks would have come in with a chip on their shoulder but not Bill. Thanks to Bill and the owners of the ddschool for your quick response in this matter. It seems this company has the ethics to strive to be the best and it truly shows. Thanks again. Bill you rocking as a human being. ***If a business is going to require a person to be on time or the wrong be allowed to take their test than they themselves should be required to start on time. I showed up 15 minutes early for my knowledge test and we weren't even allowed to enter the building until 15 minutes late.

Fantastic experience: Look, I've been driving for a while but I'm reqired to take a DE class. As much as I think this is a waste of time and energy, it's a good program and has great instructors that work with you to help you pass. For a mandatory requirement, it's not terrible. Highly recomend Kyle, great dude, makes the class bearable. 5 stars because he puts more effort than any of my actual highschool teachers.

My class was small and that also made it fun. It is a great school and the lessons really teach you everything you need to know about safe driving. And again, Kyle is the G.O.A.T.

Fantastic experience: I am a young adult person who has little experience driving in México. However, more than passing the exam, the reason I came here is because I did not have confidence driving in USA yet since the rules are more strict. I have had classes with Kyle. I’m really happy that he is my current instructor since I learned good advices in driving aspects. Also others two things that I like him is his patient in explaining and the polite way to tell your mistakes. This is really important to me since he shows strong customer obsession. I tried one class in a different school in Seattle before DDS and I was really disappointed that they were just training me to learn the protocol to pass the exam without explaining why the things should be like that. Hence, if you’re interested is also learning good driving habits, I would highly recommend him; and of course the school.

Fantastic experience: I recently took a driving lesson with Kyle from DDS’s Bonney Lake location. I am an experienced driver who recently moved to the US from Canada. I took a lesson in order to help prep for my upcoming driving test. Kyle was enormously helpful. He is extremely knowledgeable and he explains things very thoroughly and clearly. After reading the Washington State driving guide, I had a lot of questions and Kyle cleared everything up. He also did a great job in preparing me for the trickier parts of the driving text (e.g., backing around a corner). I could not recommend Kyle more strongly!

Positive experience: For the AAA Saturday class, Dennis was teaching us and we all got hungry so he bought us pizza and made the class fun, he's a really good teacher and got straight to the point, making sure to involve us in all the questions, getting our opinions on each one.

Positive experience: Great and Friendly staff, great learning expierence, but this 4 hour AAA class is pointless as almost everything in the class we already knew from the course.

Fantastic experience: Best driving school EVER! Vickie is the best teacher !! Helped me get over my fear of driving on the road. She made me feel more confident behind the wheel and in the classroom. I learned so much over the course of the class. Vickie made the class fun to be in and made learning easy and fun for all of us. She catered to all of our learning ways and capabilities. She did awesome!

Positive experience: My daughter really enjoyed her classes at DDS. Her instructor was great with the kids. They offered a good variety of class times so we were able to find one that fit into our busy schedule. Good location, but the parking is very small and difficult to navigate, especially during pick up/drop off.

Positive experience: Convenient location, except wish there was more parking for drop off/pick up. Teacher was knowledgeable but a bit too casual with the students in my opinion. Classes and drives started on time but classes often ended early. Really liked scheduling and making changes to the drives online. My daughter seems to know all the rules and regulations to get her on the road. Good value.

Negative experience: The good: variety of class choices including an evening class which works out for parents that work later. Convenient location. Price beats the other drivers ed class in Bonney Lake area. I liked how I could review the schedule and the office was very good about updating that. I also appreciated whenever I would email, the corporate office would get a respond within a day. The bad: One of the instructors needs to be evaluated. I am not naming names, as I have already talked to the corporate office about her. I was not that impressed with the majority of the staff. The only staff member that I thought was great was Dennis. Very nice, helpful and patient with my daughter when it came to the drives. He focused on what was supposed to be which was teaching driving, unlike the other individual that did the drives with students. I think the owner needs to pay attention to how his classes are being taught and how they are being taught. Felt some of the staff needs to be evaluated and the owner needs to pay attention to what is going on at that location!!! People are paying almost $600 for this class.

Negative experience: Only because this is a mandatory class/school for teens under 18, I am not sure the other Driving Companies operate in the same manner. These schools have a monopoly on said required training and charge a fortune...almost $600! If for some unknown reason you have to cancel a class and didn't give 48 hours of notice...tack on another $60. The fees pile up since skid training is not part of the normal curriculum. Then there is a lack of keeping the parents informed on the progress of their teenage driver. Of course sitting down and talking with my daughter is different then getting the perspective and email notifications on class attendance, driving habits or lack of, and test results. These schools need to adopt a program similar to the state wide school email and grade notification system. I believe its called Family Access. Parents can track the progress, attendance, grades, and other notes the schools sends out. This should be mandatory for all driving schools. There is a lack of organization by the main office and the local office...I shouldn't say local office because it's a meeting place that only teachers and students visit. It is not open to the public for administrative things such as registering, paying, and receiving paperwork/certificate. There is a clear disconnect between the teachers and the main office. For nearly a month my daughter needed to make up a test. She did and gave it to the teacher. Here we are 30 days after my daughter has finished the whole course...no emails, no phone calls, and we are clearly left in the dark, just waiting. After I called the company a couple times, which the phone calls are logged but there was nothing noted about the phone conversation. So to say this Driving School is organized....I can't. Basically we are waiting for them to finalize all the paperwork and send a certificate via email. Why can't a certificate be given on the last day of class...graduation equals certificate of training. The Certificate comes in an email....are you kidding me! The Certificate is then suppose to be printed and taken to DMV to set up an appointment. Well, without it we are sitting waiting, waiting, and waiting. Oh, and the reason this is taking so long is because I was told they are short staffed! Really. So the consumer is inconvenienced and burdened. Stop filling your class with students if you can't handle the work load. My recommendations: 1. Every location should have normal operating hours where parents/customers can physically get/receive paperwork, schedules, test results, and the coveted Certificate. 2. An internet program similar to Family Access needs to be adopted by the driving school so parents/customers can check the progress, grades, notes from instructors, and any guidance from the school on closures. 3. Without a system similar to Family Access, hire trained secretaries that can organize files and office paperwork and who can also follow up with customers on phone calls, emails, and progress of getting the Certificate. 4. If short staffed, reduce the work load by reducing the number of students in each class. The customers should not have to burdened by the companies inability to run a successful business.
