Negative experience: This place is a damn joke!! I had paid for lessons and after a few weeks nothing. Little did I know their license was not valid with the dmv. Owner had the audacity to ask my daughter to write a letter saying we paid but have yet to get her lessons as proof for dmv. As the parent, I got into it with the owner because I will always advocate for my daughter. Tried to offer me a refund via check instead of credit card, as that is how I originally paid for the classes. I had to put in a dispute through my bank to rectify this. Who the hell takes a payment knowing damn well they can't provide lessons because of their problems with the dmv. They should be embarrassed and knowing they are not in good standing with dept of motor vehicle's should not be accepting payments point blank!!

Negative experience: Called them for weeks asking for my certificate or to book a road test and they straight up ignored me. My certificate ended up expiring and had to take the 5 hour class again. Their store front is ALWAYS closed, so couldn't even inquire in person, and I went in the mornings during the week, when they indicated they were open. Not professional.

Negative experience: I have been trying to get in contact with this driving school because I have two lessons and a road test already paid for and nobody picks up the phone. I am not even sure how to go about getting a refund.

Negative experience: Please issue me a refund or provide the lessons that I paid for, or unfortunately I will have to file in small claims court to get my money back. As you know, we paid for my son's lessons and you have not been able to provide them. We either need the lessons or the money back. Please contact me a.s.a.p.

Negative experience: We also have not received a refund went to Yonkers DMV which they told us had our five hour certificate - they hadn’t even registered my daughter even though she sat through the whole thing. I called multiple times and was told a check was in the mail. Then she switched up her story to the owner got caught giving lessons when he shouldn’t - said they will start it up under another name - nothing in regards to our refund - such a joke! DMV gave me a number to report - so disappointed by the utter lack of professionalism. Website and voicemail still operating as if all is well.

Negative experience: Haven't received a refund for all the classes that were cancelled due to DVM audit- I have called multiple times to get our refund and our certificate so my son can get his license. We paid for 10 classes and have done one in September because the month of October and November were cancelled. My husband called the first week of December because I had no luck to no avail and my husband stopped by and although the website said opened, the shop was closed.We want our money back! We are going to report this business to the better business bureau- very disappointing!

Negative experience: They are a scam and when u pay online they don't call to schedule anything and anytime u call they say "I'll call you back" and they never do, don't trust them it's spam and it takes them weeks to refund when you ask for refund

Positive experience: I can confidently say that Behind the Wheel has prepared me for safe driving on the road. They did cancel and reschedule a few of my lessons, sometimes at the very last minute, but my experience with my instructor made up for any inconvenience. Fantastic experience: Best School around. The 5 hour prelicensing course is taught in person in which teaches a lot better other than zoom links. The instructors are top notch with over 10 years of expertise and let's not forget the package deals that are price sufficient. I strongly recommend this school to beginner drivers young and old. Fantastic experience: The instructors at Behind the Wheel are the best driving instructors if you want to get your license. They all helped in the best way possible. Would recommend to anyone who wants to get a great driving experience.

Negative experience: I ordered 10 lessons, so I would have a different instructor every time which I did not appreciate. Whenever I would ask questions, my instructors would dismiss my questions and get irritated. I had one Instrutor who would constantly jump on the wheel instead of allowing me to correct my stirring or drive in a less busy area to work on my stirring. This was a common occurrence where I would make a mistake but I received no tips on how to improve even after asking. My instructor seemed annoyed when I would ask if I was doing better or not. I also had an instructor tell me that “you shouldn’t be this bad at driving after 3 lessons.” Also I have been canceled on so many times through this company which was unprofessional because they canceled the times that I paid for. I had the worst experience at this driving school and my instructors were very condescending. Taking lessons with this company has made me even more anxious to drive as my lessons were very discouraging.

Negative experience: Terrible. Scheduled driving lesson twice with them - both of these times the driving instructors just didn’t come. A complete waste of time and energy. Advising anyone who’s mindful and respectful or their time to stay away from this driving school

Negative experience: The worst driving lesson I ever had. Gil, the instructor was aggressive for no reason. Only told me that I can't drive 7 different ways. Never said what was wrong just that it was wrong. Told him that I was nervous and he said that I'm not nervous I just can't drive. His temperament didn't help my nervousness. I will not be coming back and don't recommend this school. The only good thing was that I should be getting my refund since my lesson ended with 30 minutes left. I wish I could give less than 1 star

Fantastic experience: Jon was my son's driving instructor, and we could not have asked for a better instructor or person! My son is not only the best and safest driver in our home, but he passed his driving test on his first try. My son felt Jon was calm, motivating, make him feel confident but also taught him safety and awareness. We purchased the package with10 lesson one hour lesson, 5-hour class, road test appointment - well worth it. The office set up the appointments with my son to make sure he had the lessons prior to the road test. He was able to take the lessons after school and around his activities. Very happy and highly recommend Behind The Wheel especially for teen drivers. Special thank you to Jon!

Positive experience: I paid for 5 classes and i had a total of 3 different instructors, so at every lesson i would be learning something completely different and often contradicting one another. however on the day of my driving exam, I had Jon. I was very nervous and still did not know how to parallel park. But Jon taught me an hour before the test. When we practiced, he explained how to parallel park very clearly that i was able to perfectly parallel park on my first attempt. On the test, I passed my test all because of Jon. He was funny and motivational. I am thankful that i had Jon on the day of my test.

Fantastic experience: Jon was my driving instructor. From the very start he was calm, funny, and very encouraging. He took the time to demonstrate, explain, and answer any questions I had. The day of my road test he gave me the perfect motivational speech because I was feeling very nervous. I passed the road test that day, and a big thanks goes to Jon for teaching me the necessary driving skills in such a short amount a time. I am now confident around the wheel and especially my parallel parking!

Negative experience: Don't trust the biased positive reviews. Jon is a great instructor, but everything else regarding the school is difficult. The office is a pain to work with. Poorly managed. They operate as if they are doing you a favor. My instructor got switched last second (due to their scheduling f'up) to Bill, minutes before my final road test and he showed up with a different vehicle and refused to give me even 1 minute's practice on the new vehicle since he is doing me a favor. The first time I got behind the wheel in the new car was when the examiner is next to me, for a test which judges you for all things you do in the vehicle. Bill was extremely uncooperative and rude.

Fantastic experience: Just passed today on my first attempt!! I had most of my lessons with Gil and Jon and they were both incredibly patient, professional, knowledgeable, and encouraging. Always gave me clear immediate feedback and helped me practice things I was struggling with. Right before the test, Gil reviewed everything with me and helped me feel comfortable going into the road test. Front desk staff was always super friendly and transparent with scheduling. Definitely couldn't have done it without Gil, Jon, and Behind the Wheel!!

Negative experience: I paid for the "Mini Package I" which included the car for the road test and an hour long lesson before the test. After 10 minutes of waiting for the instructor to pick me up, I called to ask if anyone was on their way. It seemed like they completely forgot to send someone for the lesson. The instructor was 30 minutes late in total. The instructor wasn't apologetic at all and was condescending about my driving skills during the lesson on top of that. Lucky, I passed the road test and got my license. But I would not recommend this driving school to anyone.

Positive experience: When you are drive your mind is everything. I recently got my license and I would highly recommend Jon. From the first time we met he was very nice, professional, knowledgeable and most important: very encouraging instructor. He helped me to improve my skills correcting them in a way that made me confident and calm, so on the road test I just rocked it! On the other hand I had a not so good experience with another instructor for an extra class, that’s why If you are looking for driving lessons go with Jon and you would not regret it.

Fantastic experience: I took classes from Jon Micheaux. He is very friendly, professional and calm while giving driving lessons. I was very nervous that I won’t be able to make it but Jon not only motivated me but gave me amazing driving tips that made everything as simple as ABC. I passed the driving test in the first attempt. My advise to all the new drivers is to stay calm and keep practicing a lot until you appear in a road test. All the best!

Negative experience: This driving school is completely unprofessional and most of the instructors with the exception of Jon are impatient and condescending. Luis took me on my road test today and had me stop multiple times for his personal needs taking up my lesson time.

Fantastic experience: I wouldn't recommend any other place! They are professional, courteous and understanding. I took my class with John and he was great! They accommodate classes according to your schedule and really train you with positive encouragement. Ask for John if taking classes. It only takes having an amazing instructor who will help you grow into becoming a safe and licensed driver.

Negative experience: You'll get better customer service in a McDonald's dumpster, not even joking. Before anything, I'd like to say that the instructors themselves are very nice and taught the class well. I mean no disrespect to them, however the front desk man (I believe he goes by Hezi) is horrible. In May 2021, I bought a 5 hour class, completed the session, and unfortunately got busy soon after. I was not in a rush to get a drivers license as I had to take care of other things. Anyhow, now I had some free time, and my mother went to go pick up my certificate. When explaining, Hezi yells at my mom, claiming that I already picked it up and I lost it, and refuses to elaborate further. This is impossible because 1.) I don't have a drivers license to go pick it up by myself, and 2.) I have not been to White Plains since 2020. The man then proceeds to KICK MY MOTHER OUT OF THE OFFICE FOR COMING TO RETRIEVE SOMETHING I RIGHTFULLY DESERVE. For as long as this place is open, I will tell everyone I know to stay far away from it. Even if I end up getting my certificate I will still never recommend this place for it's absolute garbage customer service from Hezi. Please do yourself a favor and book literally anywhere else, this is truly the rock bottom of service. EDIT: I called the place again and a very nice woman helped me out. I do appreciate her greatly and she was able to give me information about my certificate professionally. Please avoid Hezi at all times.

Fantastic experience: Jon M was my instructor, and I can highly recommend him. He will teach you all the small details you have to pay attention to during the exam, and he also wants you to become a good driver, not just pass a test. What else can you ask for?

Negative experience: DO NOT GO HERE! They cancelled three of my lessons because of "emergency", the classes are way too apart and I asked for a refund which I haven't gotten and it's been few weeks. Terrible service because I tried to call so many times during their work hours and they are not responding. Please go somewhere else if you want to have a good experience.

Fantastic experience: Jon M was a more than exceptional instructor, put his all into our lessons each time and was very thorough. He made sure that I had everything down before my road test and I passed on my first try! I don’t know if I would have if it weren’t for him, he made learning how to drive exciting but made sure I knew it was a serious skill to practice too. 10/10 for this school as it’s prices were great and scheduling easy. 10/10 for my instructor Jon M as I definitely learned from the best.

He is very patient and teach you well. He observes you and do review the lessons in next class. I have cleared my road test in second attempt. Failed at first attempt due to my nervousness. Took additional single class . Cairo was my instructor. He is also a good trainer. I really recommend this school. If you negotiate , they can waive off few bucks. But the price is reasonable and affordable.
