Fantastic experience: Very impressed with Riva Davia driving school. My daughter just finished her 3rd and final driving lesson with them and immediately passed her DMV license test. The instructors were really helpful in her journey. Some points I found particularly impressive: 1) they took her on the highway for the first time, this felt safest for us all (having someone who could take over if needed at high speeds!) 2) on one occasion they pulled over and instructor drew on paper how and where to begin a turn in an intersection. this visual demo really stuck with her and was helpful. 3) on her last lesson, they drove to the DMV test to get test day specific help including where to go, what roads they might be driving on, what are some areas others often get tripped up. there were other examples of really helpful lessons but I cannot remember. I also liked that this company in particular was incredibly easy to book an appointment with! others I found were booked out too far in advance. they also always showed up on time and used the full lesson time. All in all, I highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: I had an amazing experience with Yancarlos and passed my first behind the wheel test with him! I'm new to the US and have a license from another country, but wanted to have a couple of classes before attending a test since some rules are different here and I needed to get used to it. Yancarlos explained all the rules thoroughly, took me to the test area to drive around to make sure I understand the possible errors and prepared me in every possible way. He's also great to talk to, and it was great to spend the test day with him while waiting in the Daly City DMV line. Highly recommend to all drivers, novice and experienced alike.

Fantastic experience: Both of my kids took lessons from Yan Carlos, and not only did they both learn great skills during their lessons, but they both passed the behind-the-wheel test first try! Fantastic experience: I wholeheartedly recommend Rivadavia Driving School! My instructor, Mr. Lopez, was friendly, patient, and helpful. He shows up on time and teaches you all aspect of driving skills from simple parking to driving on highways and freeways. Someone like me with no prior knowledge and experience was able to learn and pass the driving test in a month’s time. It took me 15 lessons but that was because I don’t have access to another vehicle to practice outside of lessons. If you do, you will be ready in a shorter time. Rivadavia Driving School also has effective and reliable customer service. You can book lessons on their website and they are very flexible on payment options. You can pay in cash, check, or debit/credit card. If you have any question, you can contact them through email and they will usually reply within the same day. Consider choosing Rivadavia. Fantastic experience: Just passed my driving test yesterday! Really gained a lot of great behind-the-wheel experience. Was getting more comfortable driving, but had failed my first test before coming to Rivadavia for lessons. Saw a big improvement in my skills and got a lot of confidence throughout my lessons. Javier was excellent - a great instructor and got me a lot more comfortable on the road, driving test or otherwise. Thank you!

Fantastic experience: This is an outstanding school. My son took the teen driving lessons years ago. We have a manual car. My daughter kept putting off learning because she wasn't happy learning on manual. I thought if I gave her time she'd come around. She did not. We returned here and I booked 6 lessons and the behind the wheel test. She passed! Thanks to Javier.He's a fantastic instructor. You can't go wrong booking here. Fantastic experience: If I could rate more than 5 stars I would. This school is exceptional. My driving instructor Javier is amazing. I have not only learned to drive and passed my driver's license, but he provides tools to be a good driver and most importantly to be and feel safe as a driver. Thank you Javier for your patience for always remaining calm and for being so professional. Also, the school provides great package deals, I definitely took advantage of these deals. Fantastic experience: Customer service and communications were excellent and always courteous. My son took lessons with Javier. He was able to pass his driving test today! Fantastic experience: Rivadavida is one of the few (if not the only?) driving schools offering driving classes in SUVs in the Bay Area! Yancarlos was a fantastic instructor -- very patient and focusing on best practices (also, very punctual!). The vehicle itself (a Lexus) was very smooth and nice -- I believe they just purchased it earlier this year (2024). I practiced in both SF and Daly City locations (as well as 280/101) and took the test in SF DMV and passed it the first attempt :) Thank you!

Fantastic experience: Yancarlos is an AMAZING instructor. I had limiting experience behind the wheel and was terrified of driving. He was incredibly patient, even when I made the same mistakes over and over again. I took a total of 9 lessons and passed my behind the wheel test on my first try! I strongly recommend this school, especially Yancarlos to anyone who is nervous about driving. He won't let you crash into anything. We even did freeway driving and he taught me how to park properly.

Fantastic experience: I took driving lessons with Yancarlos and passed my driving test today! I was starting from scratch, I didn't know anything about driving except from video games. My first lesson was very difficult, I was very nervous and panicked. Yancarlos is like a warm, calm friend. He would always have fast reaction time if I was doing something dangerous, but most importantly he helped me deal with the psychological aspect of driving, not just the physical one. In that respect, he is almost like a counselor. After four lessons I wasn't feeling very confident so I took four more. I think it clicked for me around lesson 6. We took a wrong exit on the freeway, and Yancarlos made the best of that situation and had me drive around all the freeways in the Bay Area. We drove in beautiful Half Moon Bay, played Country Roads and his favorite artist Angelina Jordan. It showed me that driving could be fun and relaxing, I didn't need to panic so much. Yancarlos' aphorisms (like "always see the big picture", "don't try to find something in your mirrors that doesn't exist") will always replay in my head when I'm driving. I feel jealous of his future students who will get drive with him. Thanks so much Yancarlos!!

Fantastic experience: Really great service, I had 8 lessons total and passed my test first time. My instructor was Javier, who was fantastic - he was super patient and calm, and gave really useful feedback that helped me stop making errors that I wasn't even noticing myself. Fantastic experience: This is an incredible driving school!! I am 25 years old and from the UK. I have never had a drivers license and I have always been very nervous learning how to drive in the US. I took 6 lessons with Yan Carlos. He was the first person that made me feel comfortable and confident behind the wheel. He taught me how to be a safe, defensive driver. I worked mostly with Yancarlos, and passed my driving test on the first attempt, after not having driven in 15 years. Highly recommended!

Fantastic experience: Yesterday, the impossible happened - I passed my driving test! 10 to 15 years ago, as a young adult I attempted to get my driving licence and failed with critical errors every time (lets say a couple of times). I went through two driving instructors, who honestly were a waste of money (now that I compare them to Emilio). I became discouraged and developed some strong anxiety around driving and the driving test (I couldnt understand why I kept failing, and I cant deal with failure). So I stopped trying and used my busy life as an excuse. Fast forward to 2022, I had to force myself to get my permit because driving is a neccessity now. It was time (dun dun dun) to take classes. I searched online for driving schools and saw that Rivadavia Driving School has really good reviews (I remember seeing them online years ago - but always passed them by and went for cheaper instructors - I guess you get what you pay for). A lot of the reviews for Rivadavia stated that the money was worth it, and was a good investment. That sold me (thank you other reviewers). So, I booked with Emilio! Emilio is a TEACHER! He did not sit in the passenger side as I drove around aimlessly (if your driving instructor does this - please drop them!). He ACTUALLY taught me how to drive safe with tips and tricks, constantly teaching and reminding me of rules, and he continued to encourage me even when I made the same mistakes over and over. Guess, what? I even now understood why I failed in my previous test. All of my critical mistakes, years ago, made sense now. Emilio has a pulse on individual skills. He knew I had tunnel vision and would tell me to snap out of it, he knew when I was nervous and would tell me to relax. I took about 8 classes with Rivadavia, and was willing to take more. However, Emilio encouraged me to take my test. Yesterday was my test day, I wanted to reschedule really badly, but Emilio said "the test is not the end of the world, we can try, focus on safe driving, not the test." With lots of prayer and Emilio by my side encouraging me - I went for it. During the test, I did my best to focused on driving safe not passing the test. Even when stopped at the red light, I kept scan the area - to avoid tunnel vision. I told myself to relax, when I sensed my anxiety taking over. Its really a mental shift that all students need to make and I am so greatful that Emilio believes in and emphasizes being a good driver over passing the test. Lo and behold, I actually passed my test! Of course, I had tears of joy when Emilio came up to me after the test, as driving has been an extreme hurdle for me for the longest time. Thank you Emilio, you will forever be a part of my life as the teacher who got me across the road and to the other side of this humongous mountain - the driver licence test. I highly recommend and encourage all students and espicially nervous drivers to take classes with Rivadavia. They will teach you how to be a better driver. I will be taking 2 more classes with them to help with parking and driving on the freeway. Believe me, if I can do it - so can you if you have Emilio and Rivadavia instructors by your side! Invest in yourself and your ability to drive safely. All the best!

Fantastic experience: Got my driver's license today! Was able to use one of the school's cars for the test, the same one that I had been practicing with. Practiced with Javier a number of times. I Highly recommend for spanish speakers to Practice with him. He's very calm in explaining what needs to be done for those of you that are on the nervous side.

Fantastic experience: Sometime last year I went into the Corte Madera behind the wheel test without lessons (outside my parents and youtube) and didn't pass. That left me with some considerable anxiety with retrying the test the following year even with more practice, so I started looking for instructors very last minute. Thankfully I found this School and they had plenty of availabilities. During the lessons with Emilio, my anxieties faded as I realized he was a very good teacher and that he was actively formating our practices to hit my weakest points repeatedly. After one city lesson, I took another lesson in my test area and we covered all the routes that I might be taking, including facing the area i'd had a critical mark on before. 4 days after that lesson I booked my test, showed up a little early to refresh, and then took the test. I passed! Going into the lessons I considered myself an intermediate driver and after I felt far more aware of which areas I could continue to improve upon to become a better driver and not just the minimum to pass the DMV tests.

Fantastic experience: Took several lessons with YanCarlos and just got my license! He's such a great instructor and I highly recommend booking with him! I had a ton of driving anxiety and he was always super patient and encouraging. When I didn't understand something he explained things multiple ways- verbally, drawing a sketch, using toy cars, and showing me by taking the wheel for a minute. My nerves were my biggest challenge and he coached me through becoming more confident in my abilities.

Fantastic experience: I passed my driving test in the San Francisco DMV on the first try! The school's hybrid car is in impeccable condition, clean, and comfortable. I had my first lesson with a lovely instructor, Javier. Even if I was nervous when we started driving, Javier was calm and gave me confidence. His instructions were like a mantra that I repeated in my mind during the driving exam. I took my driving test in San Francisco on Wednesday at noon; Two hours before the appointment for the behind-the-wheel exam, Jan Carlos came to pick me up at mine, and we did a bit of practice. Everyone was friendly at the DMV in San Francisco, and the examiner was clear about the direction. Jan Carlos is also a great guy, supportive and friendly. Also, the lady I spoke with on the phone, Lili, was there to listen to me and help me achieve my goal. I couldn't ask for more. I highly recommend the Rivadavia Driving school to practice and pass the DMV behind-the-wheel exam. It is easy to book an appointment through the Riva website, and you will interact with an amazing supportive team!

Fantastic experience: Hi my name is Brittany I’ve recently just passed my first time and got my License I’ve been taking lessons with Emilio and Carlos and they are both good instructors but Emilio is my favorite if you are a person that’s trying to get your License this is the best school to go to; at first it may feel like a lot of work but it’s very much worth it take it from me a person that never drove a day in my life after being taught with Rivadavia Driving School as Emilio would say “You will be one of the BEST drivers!”

Negative experience: Worst driving school in the city.

Negative experience: ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE, UNPROFESSIONAL and UNSAFE - DO NOT USE Used this school as it “seemed” like one of the better ones - avoid at all costs. First off their instructors are terrible. They can BARELY communicate in English making the instruction impossible to understand and downright dangerous (eg, the instructor telling me to go “fifty percent across the intersection and wait” when he meant “fifteen” percent)!! I requested to use their car for the test because my husband’s is a manual. They advised me to take the test on a Friday afternoon in SF, claiming that the DMV and traffic wouldn’t be heavy. This was a total lie as the DMV was PACKED and traffic was INSANE - something they would have certainly known since they go there all the time. But of course that didn’t stop them scheduling it and taking my $450 to use their car for the test! I was failed after the light turned red at an intersection because the oncoming traffic and pedestrians were unending (due to the major traffic) and I couldn’t turn in time. Basically a situation that would have been completely avoided if I wasn’t INTENTIONALLY scheduled for the worst day and time of the week. Then to add insult to injury the instructor proceeded to lecture ME on the test and my attitude on life after I’d failed. Are you kidding me???

Fantastic experience: Yan Carlos was the best instructor! I knew nothing about driving and was anxious especially on the Highway. He made me feel safe and was always patient and good at explaining important concepts and rules. My lessons were never rushed. Rivadavia was great with fitting me in for lessons(I did quite a few as a new driver) and I felt incredibly prepared for the driving test and aced it on the first time. I’m super happy I went with Rivadavia and recommend it to everyone.

Fantastic experience: Just took my Behind-the-Wheel test and passed it! I was super nervous, never thought I would actually like to drive but I actually enjoyed it. The instructors really help you build confidence and find some fun in it. I had the chance to have lessons with each of them (Yancarlos, Javier and Emilio). They each have a different way to teach you but they all make sure you become good drivers, and you don’t only care about the test. I took the lessons in SF but they brought me to Daly City and the Freeway which I appreciate so I know how to drive in different circumstances.

Fantastic experience: Yancarlos and Javier were my instructors, both are very knowledgeable and experienced. They help you to gain the confidence that you need by giving you appropriate instructions in a very relaxed environment. Lessons focus on teaching you how to drive correctly in the city and the highway. In addition they have modern clean cars that make the experience of learning very smooth.

Fantastic experience: I was able to pass my behind-the-wheel driving test this past Thursday after having several lessons with both Javier and Emilio. I practiced in Daly City and San Francisco with both instructors, and I felt ready to go when time came for the test. Emilio told me something important during one lesson: “don’t worry about passing the driving test, worry about learning to be a good driver”. Both instructors make sure to give the student plenty of advice and information in regards to driving on the road and for the test. The cars they use for the lessons are very new and have the latest technology. Emilio went with me on the day of the driving test and gave me one last lesson to make sure I was ready to go. I am pleased with my experience learning from this driving school.

Fantastic experience: I definitely recommend Rivadavia. I took several lessons from Yancarlos and passed the driving test in my first try. Passing the test was not the only goal though. I also learned a lot about defense driving. I would definitely recommend him. Also, their cars great for the learning to drive. They are very new, clean and easy to drive.

Fantastic experience: I took one regular lesson and then did the DMV behind-the-wheel test package. For both sessions Yancarlos was super knowledgeable, professional, and helpful. My experience for the DMV test was smooth – I got a two hour lesson before and a quality, insured, vehicle for the test. I passed!

Fantastic experience: I had quite a few lessons with Yan Carlos and passed my driving test first try. Learning with Yan Carlos is like learning with a friend who knows the traffic laws well, in the sense that it is very low stress. Yan Carlos is also very alert and was able to iron out the mistakes I was making, especially in my earlier lessons. Booking and organising the lessons was great and I would definitely recommend taking lessons from this school if you're trying to learn!

Fantastic experience: I took lessons with Macarena and YanCarlos for my CA driving test. Both instructors were patient and really good teachers. They train you to not only pass the test, but help you become good drivers. Always on time and professional. I would definitely recommend them.

Fantastic experience: This is very good driving school. I have only taken 2 classes so far but I have learned a lot in these classes. The instructors are very patient and put me at ease, making driving less stressful and fun. When i make mistakes the instructor calmly tells explains to me what i did wrong and corrects me. I would highly recommend this school. Update: I took my driving test today and passed!!!

As an instructor, he always made me feel safe, thoroughly explained the reasons for each skill we worked on during our lessons, tailored our sessions to what I felt I needed to practice most, and was very flexible and accommodated my schedule. I also had so much fun during our lessons, and I'll miss our great conversations in Spanish. His assistant Lily is a pleasure to work with, too! I could not recommend Emilio and Rivadavia Driving School more highly, and I've even suggested their services to family members looking to improve their driving skills. Their online booking system makes scheduling lessons quick and easy, and they are operating with extra health and safety precautions in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. Tl;dr: Great instruction, scheduling, safety, and customer service. If you're looking to become a more confident driver, this is the place to call! Also, I passed my test after our lessons!

Fantastic experience: Emilio is an excellent teacher because he really is that person who guides you in the best way in learning. He is a patient person, extremely careful with the indications he gives you and knows how to clearly explain each of the steps to be followed to be a good driver. Needless to say, he is an excellent person, very kind and friendly. One thing to highlight about Emilio is that he teaches you the why and how of things. Fantastic experience: I passed the driving test at San Francisco DMV on my first attempt having taken lessons with Emilio and Macarena. They didn't only prepare me for the behind-the-wheel test, but also helped me get rid of my fear of driving in the U.S. ( I come from where driving seats are on the right ) and build confidence. Although I drove a few times with my international license before, I was so unsure about the local traffic rules , which made me nervous. I realized how much I actually didn't know by learning the local rules and techniques through my lessons with Emilio and Macarena. I am really happy to have invested in their lessons.

Fantastic experience: Great driving school! I had a great experience with them. I just moved to San Francisco from Europe and I had a drivers licence before but was required to pass the test again here. This school is not the cheapest but they certainly deliver quality. Their availability and online booking system are great. I had a 2 hour driving lesson and also booked the exam with them as I did not have access to another car. Macarena is a great instructor and super friendly! I passed the exam last Friday without any problems. I definitely recommend!

Fantastic experience: I am so happy to have found this driving school! I've taken lessons with both Macarena and Emilio and they're both fantastic instructors, although in different ways. Emilio was the perfect teacher for my first lessons, making me feel safe behind the wheel and telling a bunch of jokes to make me feel less nervous (I was terrified to start driving). I then quickly started thinking that driving can actually be fun. Macarena, on the other hand, is great at challenging you and giving you a lot of supervised freedom to develop confidence in your own abilities. She takes minimum control of the pedals and rather gives you a lot of guidance with her voice to help you drive safely, but on your own. She has a great aura around her and somehow she is always making you feel calm and collected (even though learning to change lanes around other cars can be really stressful!). I really enjoyed all my lessons, passed the driving test at first try and would therefore recommend this school to anyone!

Fantastic experience: I was a complete afraid beginner with no driving experience when I decided to take classes at Rivadavia School. This week I finished my classes and passed the driving test :) Emilio is the type of teacher you'll always remember. He is patient, he will trust you and make you feel confident. I'd recommend the school to everyone that would not only want to pass the test but really want to learn how to drive safely.

Positive experience: This auto school has Instructors who are personable and patient. For driving lessons I saw a fantastic instructor he is very patient and easy to understand. I also worked with matt who taught me simple steps to learn how to parallel park as when I took the test the first time I unfortunately did not pass because of parallel parking. However I took the test A 2ND time and I passed. instructor who does all the scheduling is very accommodating and very patient with you and they work with you around your schedule ect. I would recommend this driving school to anybody who is afraid about driving because they make you feel comfortable and it was an overall great experience.
