Fantastic experience: Mr. San is a very good driving instructor. He constantly reminds me of what to do and what not to do. Because of his instruction (and car that I practiced with), I managed to pass my behind-the-wheel test on my first try. I only lost one point. While being firm and teaching me practically every bit about driving, he is also friendly and "chill"; He is easy to talk to. In the future, I would recommend him to my friends who have yet to be on the road.

Fantastic experience: Derek really drilled me how to drive the best I could. I had only a month and a half left before my permit expired, and Derrick really drilled me to drive flawlessly after a couple of sessions. Though you can’t just rely on the lessons to help you pass the test, you have to practice by yourself too. Derek will always find a way that you can improve, and he’ll have you practice again and again until your driving maneuvers are nearly perfect. By the time your test comes, it should be a breeze compared to the lessons. Thank you Derek again for taking the time to teach me!

Fantastic experience: I do not have access to a car and have been practicing driving only with driving schools. Before taking lessons with ADVAN driving school, I had taken ~10 hours of lessons with a different driving school, and then another 18 hours with ADVAN before passing the test. I enjoyed my lessons with ADVAN driving school because Dereck is the only instructor so there is consistency in what I am practicing across all lessons. Dereck is also very clear in pointing out my mistakes and what I should have done instead and I could feel my improvement and increase in confidence across the lessons, with zero practice outside of driving lessons. The communication with the school was also very clear and smooth in scheduling lessons and the driving test.

Fantastic experience: I started looking up different driving schools in the area. I found ADVAN Driving School had a lot of good reviews. I had a few friends who took Derick as there driving instructor. They recommend him along with going on reviews. Derick is an amazing instructor. He tells you what you are doing wrong and how to fix the mistake next time. He was so patient with me. I ask a million questions and even repeated I'm an overthinker. Thank you so much Derick for teaching and being so patient with me!! Carly is amazing with scheduling appointments she is very accommodating. Everything is done thru text group. This driving school, accompanied with my instructor, Derek, were more than enough for me to pass my driving test. With a couple of lessons here and there throughout a few months, I was able to completely grasp the concept of driving. Derek was very instructive and able to easily explain all the rules of the road along with tips and tricks for a better driving experience. He’s a good communicator as well as Carly with flexibility on lesson days. I failed my Pasadena dmv due to a bad instructor from LA but I passed with no critical errors from switching to Advan. If you have him as an instructor, guaranteed you are learning from the best as long as you listen to his stern instructions and be able to receive his strict criticism. Those traits are exactly what you are looking for from an instructor , because that is how you know they are putting a lot of attention and effort so you can pass your exam and get on the road as a licensed driver. I improved a lot learning from him and made me aware of my bad habits. He’s also very friendly and will start conversations with you, which made my driving lessons more enjoyable than a silent dry driving course.

Fantastic experience: The Driving instructor is easygoing but firm. He will let you know what you’re doing wrong and point them out on the spot. The schedule for the driving school is flexible for you if you can’t be there that day or at a later time.

Fantastic experience: This is going to be a really long review because I want to share how instrumental Advan was in helping me pass my driving test. TLDR: Could not have done it without them! Great value and accommodating to teen drivers or adult learners with a full-time schedule alike. I called Advan after failing my test THREE times. I chalk it up to being a nervous tester and lack of technical direction. My family helped a lot but fell into one of two camps: very careful and technical but too nervous to teach me OR relaxed but could not provide the technical direction. Advan’s good reviews made them one of my top choices. I scheduled my first session by phone call and got reminders by text. Throughout three two hour sessions, Derek provided a thorough assessment, lessons on fundamentals, insights, technical guidance, constructive criticism, encouragement and lots of feedback. I was super nervous when the time came to take my test but managed to pass with only two minor errors. I was super happy and wished I had called them from the beginning! As a new driver, I feel safe and have gotten much more comfortable driving. I truly appreciate the help I received!

Honestly, you don’t have to actually visit the school to make appointments; it’s all through texts and calls so you’ll save time. The reception lady is super nice and tells you clear instructions and my driving instructor was Derek (like everyone else lol). Derek is super chill and funny, though he is picky (sometimes). But that’s because he really wants you to learn and pass. Better being pointed out your mistakes before than later right? You make an appointments over the phone first, and then communicate through text to confirm payment/appointments so theres no confusion. When I searched or google for the best driving school in Los Angeles California, ADVAN school is the first on the list. So I called up and the lady I spoke was courteous and nice. Their prices are reasonable for 6 hours. Compared to other driving schools. their prices are truly reasonable. I availed the 6 hour combo plus the brush up and use their carb during driving test. Then Derek will pick you up to your home and you can pay him for your lessons. No need to go to their office. During my lesson, he will explain in detail the concept and the right Way of driving in a safely manner. Sometimes I asked him too much questions but he’s very cool and gentle. He will explain in detail to let you understand well. Derek is very cool and flexible because I asked him nicely if he can drop me or pick me in my requested locations and he will drop you or pick you in your requested locations . If I call in the office and left voicemail messages to call me back, she would call me back right away.He also built my confidence in driving from residential, side street and esp to freeway. That’s why on the test exam I’m confident on my driving test though I was quite nervous . Truly, I passed the exam today and I am very happy. That’s why I am giving them five stars and certainly recommend them to all from students, first time or who had drivers license in their previous country to get this ADVAN school. He doesn't only train you pass the driving test but also provides you many precious advice for your future driving. The number of class totally depends on your experience and skill. After these classes, I didn't feel too much pressure during the test since the test was exactly what they taught you and I have practiced so many times. Hope you can pass the test too! Btw this driving school is bilingual that Dereck can speak professional Chinese too. 如果你英文不太好，Dereck会用非常专业的中文教学，会带你练习所有考试重点，考试时因为练的多就不怎么紧张，也就出错的少了，Dereck很有耐心也挺幽默，所以练车时都是很轻松的，他的课不仅能一次通过考试而且对以后自己开车也很有帮助。我从不敢上路到现在拿本自己开车只在这个驾校上了几堂课的练习。希望大家都能顺利通过考试！

Fantastic experience: As a parent it’s hard to entrust your child to others but Derek and his team were very professional, helpful and patience and were there to answer any question or concern I had. Highly recommended. I shopped around and yes there are less expensive services out there but Advan Driving School is worth the money if you seek a team that can relate to the student and bring parents piece of mind.

Fantastic experience: I had been holding off on getting a license for a while because i always had anxiety about driving but eventually i got a permit and signed up for lessons. First time driving was with ryan. It was a comfortable environment for all 3 lesson. And i didnt hit anyone or anything so that was a success. Then I took three more lessons because I hadnt driven for a month and got dereck and he helped me get better. Didnt hit anything or anyone again so that was a success. I paid 160 to borrow a car and sign up for the dmv and a last minute practice before my test and that was well worth because I passed on my first try with single digit errors. It felt like cousins and uncles teaching you how to drive rather than just instructors. Id recommend them to anyone learning how to drive

Fantastic experience: I was taking classes at ADVAN school several months ago. I arrived from Russia where I almost didn't drive - my driving license was lying on the shelf useless for years. So when I came to San Gabriel I was like a newbie again. Derek helped me to reanimate such basic skills as steering control, changing lanes, parking, he helped me to overcome my fear of freeway and gave me important tips how to get prepared for the California DMV test. Derek is very patient and cooperative coach, with a good sense of humor, so I enjoyed every hour of the learning process. As a result, I've passed both written and behind-the-wheel DMV tests just with few errors, that I attribute to exam anxiety :)
