Excel Driving School was established in 2019 with safety in mind in creating great, safe and confident drivers one student at a time. We are a family owned business located in Oxnard, California. We have helped many students feel comfortable behind the wheel, improve their driving skills and get their driver’s license.
Through “ Practice to Improve” the student improves their driving lesson after lesson. Each student learns at their own pace and we highly encourage students to practice driving everyday for 30 minutes. Quality vs. quantity is most important. With Excel Driving School you can expect each lesson to be unique and different where the student learns new information and drives in a different area.

Fantastic experience: My son had a very positive experience with Sandra. She made him feel confident behind the wheel and focused on his specific needs and areas of improvement. Not only did she comfort me with first time mother jitters but include me in his last session to make sure we got everything ready for his driving test. Our last session was on the December 29, by December 31, 3024 he was a new driver not only that with an excellent score. Thank you, Sandra, for all your dedication knowledge, and guidance. Fantastic experience: I am so happy I chose Sandra to teach my son the necessary skills to drive. My son felt confident going into his behind the wheel test. She provided us with some extra material to practice just before test. I chose to have my son do the very first driving lesson with her because I was too nervous to do it. Negative experience: DO NOT use Excel Driving School! Find a different school as there are so many others to choose for $470. Let me give you the cliff notes why and then if you want you can read below for more information: 1) My daughter has to take 8 hours instead of 6 and I have to pay $800 total because Sandra cancelled my appointment last minute even though she instructed us to make the last drivers training appointment right before the drivers license test. Sandra will not verify her hours she has already done for 2 weeks and does not have an opening until 9/27 or 10/1 for her make up appointment. We made my daughters appointment 3 weeks ago for 9/20. 2) Sandra doesn't take students on the freeway. 3) Sandra takes them to pump gas with a mask and gloves on even though its not on the test. 4) Sandra does not take students on the drivers test track. Okay here is the long version: 1) Sandra just canceled my daughter's 9/17 6:00 pm appointment on the same day at 3:00 pm due to a family passing. Sandra could not rebook until 9/27 or 10/1 which is after my daughters drivers test which is 9/20. Booking the last drivers appointment was what Sandra instructed us to do. I had to call around to find a new school which would squeeze us in. I understand that all of this is out of Sandra’s control but here is where it gets frustrating. Two people from the new school called Sandra and asked for her to give them a letter stating the 4 hours that my daughter had already taken but Sandra said that would take 2 weeks and was unwilling to work with us. This will be too late for the drivers license exam appt I made 3 weeks ago. Sandra stated that this policy was started 5 years ago. She also said that she was trying to work with me by offering me different days but again these were after my daughters drivers license test. My daughter now has to take 8 total hours instead of only 6 hours because Sandra will not give us a letter stating that my daughter has taken 4 hours of school. I also have to pay $330 on top of the $470 I have paid to Sandra, that's $800 TOTAL! I asked Sandra to refund me at least $313 which is the right thing to do but she said that she didn’t have to refund me any money. I told her that I would leave a bad yelp review and she asked if I was threatening her. We even have to cancel my daughter’s 16th birthday dinner so that she can take her additional hours due to Sandra’s unwillingness to expedite a letter for us. 2) I didn’t realize that she does not take students on the freeway and this is an extra charge. Many schools in our area take students on the freeway. She also does not take students on the drivers license course which many schools do. For $470 I would have thought it would include this but I should have asked ahead of time. I asked Sandra why she didn’t take kids on the freeway she said because its not on the test. 3) We live in Camarillo so we met her in Village in the Park for the first lesson all she did was have my daughter drive around Village in the park and then pull over for 15 minutes and take notes. She refused to book another lesson sooner than a month. 4) On the second lesson she drove around Village in the Park and then drove to the gas station on Carmen and had my daughter pretend to pump gas with a mask and gloves on. Pumping gas is not on the test.
Unfortunately due to the passing of a very close family member, all driving lessons scheduled on 9/17 were rescheduled, except the lesson for your teen as you were unwilling to work with us. Two dates were offered to you the next week and you refused. We were unaware your teen had a scheduled drive test day’s away, however, we’re unable to accommodate if there is no availability. Freeway driving is not included in a minimum 6hr. driving lesson package as students are not tested on the freeway for their drive test. You knew about this sometime ago when you started sending your demanding and controlling messages. It’s unfortunate, you don’t see all the safety measures that need to be present in a place such as a gas station where crimes that are committed could be easily avoided if people were more aware of their surroundings. It is illegal to take a student on the drivers test track as you call it. Instead, we empower students with all they need to know to feel confident and well prepared for their drive test. Happy to report we are very successful in this area where most of our students pass their drive test on their first try with awesome scores. Some students have passed with perfect scores which is a strong reflection of how well the student is prepared. As educators, note taking is of high importance so students and parents know what to work on and improve in between lessons. We have a no refunds policy, however, mailed you a check 9/23/24 for the unused lesson as we will no longer be providing any services due to your poor conduct. Please STOP sending demanding and controlling messages. Your tone, demands and controlling ways and energy are unacceptable! God see’s everything! All the best to your teen on her drive test. It was my pleasure to teach her and remember they were great lessons. Safety to you and your family always.

Fantastic experience: Sandra was a great instructor to our teenage son , we could not have chosen a better instructor . He had his first lesson at 15 and a half , and last lesson at 16 .She was very kind and patient , and really instilled confidence in our son as a driver . He took his behind the wheel test and passed on his first time, only after 3 lessons over 6months time. He wasn’t nervous or worried about failing , because of how he was taught . She really takes the time to explain everything to her students and makes them feel comfortable and safe in asking her any questions ,she would write down notes for him during lessons, and go over any questions at the end . I can truly say I would send or refer anyone looking for a driving instructor , her way. Thank you Sandra for all your help in preparing our son . Who is now a happy licensed 16 year old .

Fantastic experience: What can I say?…. We were looking for an instructor to teach our teen the official behind the wheel rules after him passing his written test. I really feel more relaxed, comfortable and confident knowing that Sandra is guiding me, talking to me about different instructions and road mistakes. Fantastic experience: If you've read the other reviews you'll see most of them mention's Sandra and how patient and experienced she is. I can 100% vouche those statements. My first driving lesson, like all new drivers I was very nervous but she really takes the time to make sure that you are confident in your driving and she emphasizes on safety. Fantastic experience: My classes with Excel Driving School have been amazing!! Sandra has taught me more in two hour lessons than I could have learned in two months myself. She is very attentive and answers any questions or doubts you may have. She also explains everything in detail and shows you visuals, in order for you to see real life examples. Overall I would highly recommend Excel Driving School if you’re a beginner or if you want to improve your driving and get yourself ready for your DMV test. They were very flexible with me and squeezed in my 3, 2 hour driving lessons when other driving schools couldn’t and now I am on my way to earning my license as a more informed and safe driver.

Fantastic experience: I have taken two of my three lessons with Sandra for my drivers Ed course. Every single one of them I have learned more and more and I continue to learn the more lessons I have. Every single question I've ever asked has always been answered with the reason why and how. Fantastic experience: Ms. Sandra is very helpful. I’ve only had one lesson so far but I’ve already learned so much. I was kind of nervous because I didn’t know her. As I was driving with her, I found that she really had my best interest at heart and she really cared about me being safe. I would definitely recommend because she’s very supportive. She’s also very relatable and doesn’t be make the ride awkward so that’s a plus as well.

Fantastic experience: I personally went through 3 lessons and this was a wonderful experience. Even with some prior driver experience there was so much to learn and gain from this driving school. I would 100% recommend to anyone trying to learn or even retouch on their skills

Fantastic experience: Just in 4 hours Sandra the driving instructor has taught me a lot about driving, she is very knowledgeable, calm, and professional. In my experience, in the first two hours you learn the basics of road signs , lanes, hand placement on the steering wheel, foot placement on the pedals, basics of the car interior and what each button does️, driver seat positioning, mirror adjustments, blinkers⬅️➡️ ,how to make a U-turn↩️ and most importantly blind spots. After that she gives you the choice to drive on the road or in a parking lot, whatever makes you feel comfortable but she will always try to challenge you to get out of your confort zone since thats the only way of improving. On the second two hour lesson you learn how to make sharp turns, wide turns, basics of parking♿️, how to change lanes, how much to slow down when approaching train tracks or dips. And from there you're basically just driving to improve your driving skills. I have my third lesson in a few hours and I am looking forward to it. Sandra will also tell you what to improve on after the lesson ends just in case you don't schedule another lesson with her again which is a huge plus because it shows that she really cares about her students passing the test. Another pro is that Sandra is very good at avoiding awkwardness, and she quickly tries to make her students feel comfortable again after they might have done something wrong which is common for starters. And just one more thing, she has her own brakes and accelarator on her side just in case that makes you feel more comfortable. So instead of reading my review go ahead and give her a call and schedule a lesson with her today, you will learn a lot.

Fantastic experience: The classes are amazing!!! I had the pleasure of driving with instructor Sandra and she was very kind and gave very detailed instructions. They have a set meet up place and set times prior to appointments. They are very fast with call backs and make sure that they help with any question or needs. They also let you rent a car for your drivers test if you don’t have one yourself.

Not only that, but I was given specific critiques so I that I can continue to improve my driving after the classes. Fantastic experience: I have been driving in another country but driving in the USA was something I had to learn because of the different rules and road practice. Though I have had an experience driving in the past, I was really intimidated here. Excel driving school gave a thorough discussion of how driving should be done in order to be safe. I was assigned to teacher Sandra and she was very friendly, patient and warm — it was like driving with your friend or cousin . She figured I was very nervous during my 1st session and she was constantly reassuring me that I can do this.
