Street Smart Driving School

Negative experience: Went in for a defensive driving. The instructor was ok during the class, however it has been a hassle getting my certificate. They, Mercedes and another gentleman,promised to call me , nothing. They have me just waiting for an email or phone call. It has been two weeks since my class. Also they say they open at twelve, I went to see if I can talk to someone and no one was there, it was 12:30. I keep wasting gas and time.

Very helpful with answering all questions when scheduling along with explaining what needed to be done after the road test was passed. Ben was amazing with my daughter and helped her stay calm even though she was a bundle of nerves when we walked in. Definitely recommend for road testing and from my experience at the facility I would trust them for any other courses.

Fantastic experience: I went for the 4 hour class. It was a bit boring but went by quickly. The staff was very nice. On the last day of class they brought pizza but due to my gluten allergy I couldn’t have it but i was given a gluten-free option with no issue. In situations like these most don’t accommodate with allergies and I thought that was very considerate

For any parents wanting to put their kids through drivers Ed and are considering street smart, you are on the right path and won’t regret it. And for any kids who are about to or looking to attend street smart you will do just fine and love your time here.

The driving instructor I had was very positive, but also real with us on the dangers we can face being on the road. He has a lot of compassion and really cares to teach us what we need to know to be safe. I would recommend this place to people looking for an easy class to learn what you need to start driving.

Negative experience: I was a student here about 10 years ago. Not sure if it’s still managed by the same people or not, but the instructors were very rude to the students and very unprofessional back then. I was talked down to on the first day because I asked a question about something I didn’t know, and during a driving session, the instructor put his feet up on the dashboard and spent a long portion of the drive complaining about his wife/partner. I guess I didn’t realize it back then, but with the hindsight of being an adult now, it’s sort of ridiculous how that was all handled.

Negative experience: The classroom portion was quick, but you won't get drive times quickly. It's been 5 months since my kid got his permit AND he has YET to get behind the wheel with street smart. Ridiculous! There is never any open drive time slots available. The whole online sign up system is awful. Don't recommend if you're in a hurry to get your child behind the wheel.

Positive experience: No complaints other than scheduling for drive times. If you’re trying to schedule one, check on Wednesday at around 4:00pm to 4:30pm as that’s when it generally refreshes or directly schedule with your instructor if possible. Instructors at this place will help you pass the general in-classroom test (and there are retest) so other than the drive times, good review overall.

Fantastic experience: Wow, what a great place!

Negative experience: FELT ENDANGERED I am writing this review somewhat late, since I was enrolled as a student 10 yrs ago. I am writing it now since my friend asked me if this would be a good place for their kid. I only was able to do one driving lesson, then quit for concern for my own safety and car. The teacher refused to offer instructions when asked, which made me (the driver) very uncomfortable and unsafe for all passengers (including another student driver in the back). Halfway through the drive, the instructor also directed me to go onto the highway, which was pretty scary for someone who was doing his first lesson. Overall, I felt very unsafe the entire time and never went back. A huge WASTE OF MONEY. Would NEVER recommend this place

Negative experience: We signed up for lessons for my daughter in June. It is now October and we have only been able to sign up for 2 lessons. When you log into their calendar is it always booked solid. I log in daily and no open lessons. It is extremely frustrating. If you email them, no reply. If you call, no one answers. SO buyer beware.....you will have to wait and wait to get your child their driving lessons.

Negative experience: Very rude instructor I got..he was arrogant..not happy with this driving school..

Negative experience: They seemed really nice and well meaning in the signing process but there is no control over the classroom full of 15 year olds , the in class instructors seemed nice enough but the actual driving instructor was a hot tempered braggadocious jerk with a little man complex. Would not recommend

Positive experience: Street Smart's classroom instruction is 5-star, and they have a nice facility with plenty of parking. However, their driving sessions are booked solid, as if they have too many students and not enough instructors. It is very difficult to schedule the 7 drive sessions required to complete the course. You log into a website named Schedule2Drive, which sounds convenient, but in reality is maddening to use. The website displays a calendar for the next 2 weeks, nothing more, and usually every single session is booked. You must log in every day and hope the school has added sessions or that someone has cancelled. You are prohibited from booking sessions on consecutive days. I had to pay $100 for a 6-week extension to complete the course.

Negative experience: DO NOT USE STREETSMART!!!! I called to see what forms would be needed to get my daughters license because she is now over 18 years of age. The owner was NO HELP. Kept talking fast and saying it is on his website. I explained that our situation was different that a teen driver under 18. He would not listen. Poor excuse of customer service. I Called South Region Driving School and they were extremely helpful.

Negative experience: Instructors are rude and unprofessional. Wish I would have known before. I taught my younger son myself rather than deal with them again. Thank God for Aceable! Sorry to the one instructor who actually has class.

Negative experience: For the whole class portion there wasn't any problems. In fact it was really nice, the class instructor was nice, even had a good sense of humor and overall, taught the class with professionalism. However the drive time needs to be improved by a large factor. Children go in for the first time driving and have their self esteem eaten away by the driving instructors who, verbally abuse students, and even hint that they honestly don't want to be there. Its difficult and a pain enough to schedule drive times that work with my schedule. But I nearly lost it during the drive times because of how unprofessional and rude the instructors are. They clearly don't understand how teens are nervous about driving for the first time. I heard one case where an instructor refused to teach a student because he was struggling. I also read other reviews and see that I'm not the only one who had this issue. You guys need to hire new driving instructors who aren't rude to your students. Its not their fault their new to driving and are sometimes nervous.

Negative experience: I have tried calling ,and sending an email to get more information about adult driving hours but I never received a response . I have physically gone to the office and received no help.

Fantastic experience: I have personally meet the owners and staff at Street Smart Driving School and I can honestly say that its a first class driving school. The facilities are nice and equipped with the latest technology. Your kids are in very good hands and will learn everything they need to know to be safe and responsible drivers. The instructors are expierenced and well qualified. They offer certified TDLR teen and adult drivers ed classes and they are an approved dps third party testing site. Its a one stop shop for all your driving needs. Stop by and check then out, you will be glade you did...

Negative experience: ** WARNING ** do NOT take lessons here. The classes are ok. The driving portion is horrible. It is IMPOSSIBLE to get a driving time. They suggest logging on their web site multiple times a day to get a shot at a spot. Who has time for that?? It is feeding frenzy to get a driving spot.

This school is very professional and helpful. The team that works here is very hard working and supportive in every aspect of learning. I know I have gotten my money's worth. Negative experience: After you pay your $400, the school no longer wants to deal with parents. They do not communicate or tell you at registration that times on Saturday classes are different than rest of week. And scheduling times for your child to drive is very frustrating - rarely are there any open times (even though I check the website daily). I am worried we will not get the 7 hrs of driving + 7 hrs of observation done in time. Unfortunately, this is the mess we are dealing with right now. My other children though will NOT be attending this school when it is time to drive. I wish there were more driving school options in this area.

Negative experience: This school is unprofessional, dirty, and their staff is rude. They happily take your money and hen make it impossible week after week for you to get your child scheduled for drive times. There are numerous complaints on the web about this and they continue to engage in the same fraudulent business practices so it must be how they profit. If your child actually needs a license by a certain time, beware! If you operate your life on a schedule beware! If you work hard for you money and $400 is a lot of money for you to throw away beware! This business gives League City a bad name in comparison to all the other honest businesses in our community.

Negative experience: This business does not have nearly enough driving instructors to meet demand. When you try to schedule a drive time, their schedule is almost always already booked weeks out. They always do their schedule updates at seemingly random times throughout the day, so unless you're constantly logging in to check their scheduling calendar, you'll miss the available drive times. Basically, their business operates by signing up as many people as possible for driving instructions, when they know they don't have enough driving instructors to teach everyone. Even though I check nearly every day, I've only been able to get one of seven drive times scheduled in nearly 3 weeks of trying. At that rate, it will take most of the Fall to schedule all 7 required drives. If you need to get your kid taught how to drive quickly, don't go here.

Fantastic experience: My son just finished learning to drive here and had nothing but great experiences with them. The staff are all friendly and knowledgeable and we were easily able to schedule drive times, which I've heard can be difficult at some drive schools. Definitely recommend.

Negative experience: Attention parents, make sure that YOU are the one that takes your child out driving first. Seems instructors here do not understand that you PAY them over 400 dollars to teach your child to drive behind the wheel for the first time, don't make my mistake. She's only taken one class since then, but please parents, be smart, be very patient and loving to them because they can freak out like my daughter did. I believe that is the problem when you have to sign up online because rookies and some students with driving experience are mixed together and the instructors tend to overlook that fact or don't even realize that is happening.

Fantastic experience: All three of my teenagers went through their school. They now offer state driving tests if you really don't want to sit at DMV.
