Fantastic experience: I was a part time student on the weekends and I graduated on January 27th 2025. I would like to thank and recognize Mrs. Beverly, Mrs. Jeanette in the Admissions department for guiding me through every step throughout my course. Mrs. Kat for her valuable in class preparation education, and her very extensive career experience in the trucking industry. Mr. Will & Mr. Mike for their "On The Road" Training. They each have their own style, and teaching methods with invaluable experience. For my first time ever in a tractor trailer, with a manual transmission. I always felt 100% Safe with these Instructors by my side. Mr. Steve, another fantastic instructor! He is another veteran CDL-A Combination Tractor Trailer with incredible life experience. His in the Yard Training is next to none! I am truly grateful I was able to have him as one of my instructors. He gives 110% of his time, energy and commitment to us, the students. He will arrive early, and leave late and is really there for you every minute of every day. This school was the best decision I ever made, if you put in hard work and commitment, this Team of Veterans will go above and beyond for you. I am proud to call them family. Negative experience: Maybe it's changed. But I attended here about 20 years ago when they were in Cherry Hill. Paid cash, in full, up front. Did the full number of weeks advertised for this course. Every week after that when the list of people going for tests was made, I wasnt on it. It was all the guys who were there through unemployment. I guess they get priority through pressure from the state. I would speak with my instructors who all agreed I had been ready for quite awhile to go for my test. Still....nothing. I had even been helping teach some of the students who'd been struggling with alley docking. Anyway, after several weeks after I should have finished I ended up having to leave the course to take a job as I wasn't collecting unemployment and had no income. I eventually contacted years later to see if I could return and finish the course, and was told I would need to pay hundreds more if I wished to return and complete the course I had alrwady paid thousands for, and they never did their part in getting me my CDL. Again, it's been a long time and maybe they changed. But they took my money and I got nothing for it. And when I requested to return, they asked for more money. Be careful here if paying cash up front. They are now really close to my home, and I see them all the time. That's why I'm just writing the review now. My Dad went here through unemployment and had no issues. Got his CDL right when he should have gone for his test. Like I said. Instructors said I was ready. I was actually helping to teach other students how to alley dock. Every time I drove on the road, instructors said I would have easily passed if it were a test. Biggest disappointment of my life going here. IN RESPONSE TO SCHOOLS REPLY: As I stated, maybe things have changed. But when I attended, the state funded students absolutely got first dibs at testing. I was one of the fastest to catch on in the course, and even helped other students who were struggling, only to watch those very same students sent to test before me. I had perfect attendance up until I had to leave to find work well after I should have finished the course. When I paid, I was told it was a lifetime thing, that returning to finish up is fine, or refresher training. However when I tried to return, I was told I would need to pay hundreds more. As stated. I had perfect attendance for the 5-6 weeks. The school failed me.

Fantastic experience: Just today, 10/28/24 got my CDL class a license and my experience with Smith and Salomo Depford NJ has been really amazing. If they see that you put work into your progress they will go that extra mile with you. Very profesional , excellent teaching, guidance, and serious training. Fantastic experience: I was recommended by a friend and it was a great experience. Everyone from the office to the instructors will guide you to success. I got my CDL Class A no restrictions in 6 weeks. THAT’S RIGHT it only took me 6 weeks. Obtaining my CDL has changed my life. I will always be thankful for all the staff from Smith & Solomon for guiding me though the process.

And then the road instructors Mike and will. They will teach you all they know. It's up to you to apply what you've been taught. Fantastic experience: This is a great school to go to and it really is all about how hard you work and push yourself. People don’t pass and blame other people and come on here and put bad reviews. If you work hard you will do great. Mike, AL, and Will are all great instructors. Additionally the administrators, Ms Jannette, Ms Beverly and Danielle are awesome and are always there for you don’t hesitate to ask them ANYTHING. Last but not least Ms cat is great in the classroom and is also very knolwedgeable as her background is in trucking for an extended period of time.

Negative experience: I was harassed everyday that I was there by instructor Allen. I told management about the situation and they did nothing.

Fantastic experience: This staff here are great! They allow you to pace yourself and practice until you feel confident to gout on the road. The trucks are fairly new and you well prepped for test day. I recommend to anyone that's serious about getting their commercial license

Negative experience: Years back I paid in full for CDL A training. One of the instructors had some personal issue with me. I have not done anything to this instructor, all i wanted to do was get hands on training. He would give me a hard time, skip me and move on to the next student for hands on training. I tried to speak to management about the issue and get a refund. He only offered me $400 of my $4500. So I tried to continue and try to learn something, but after a month of just standing outside in the cold, and not being able to do anything, I decided to give up. I lost all my money, wasted unnecessary time and gas for nothing. Wish I could have been able to get the training. I hate to say this about a company, but they are thieves. They will probably say I never attended, but I expect that. I am speaking on my behalf and experience only. Goodluck to anyone looking for proper training, I highly do not recommend this school. Edit: you play with the prices, that is why your website never lists the costs for cdl courses. I can only get so close to the pricing. After that it changes. Since you are discrediting my review, which i based off my experience, which school did I mistook yours for?

Fantastic experience: The best part of Smith & Solomon in Deptford, is the staff that make you feel important and that you can accomplish anything you want. They are all professional in this field, they have all driven a truck between 10 - 50 years. They have real life experience on what they are teaching you. Ms. Jeanette is an amazing women, her doors are always open, she has a welcoming attitude and she has teaching soul. You can only fail by YOUR choices, not by their teaching. Mark is the yard instructor, he has the most patience to teach students. Mike and Will are great at given you advise LISTEN TO THEM, they drove for year's. Stay away from Steve, he has girl Scott cookies and they are addicting , Steve is calm, cool and collect, ask him anything. Ms.Kat best class teacher. Ms. Beverly is the one who signs you up, she will give you the best financial program that fits your needs. The people are there, it's up to you to do the work and study to show yourself approve. Fantastic experience: PART I. After doing research for a few locations on google and reading through every single review I found the name of a personal friend. I reached out to him and I loved his feedback so I decided to go check it out in person for myself. There are a few things that all the staff have in common… 1st is they all want you to succeed! 2nd is they all have personal experience in the trucking industry. 3rd thing is that whatever amount of respect you give them they will multiply it by 100. 4th thing is they will always be honest and set the proper expectations. 5th they are all family oriented and if you allow them they will welcome you with open arms. 6th they are all personable and can relate to you on numerous levels. Last but never least is they are all FUNNY!!!! The staff from my perspective in the order that I met them… Mrs. Beverly was the first friendly face I met and was the real reason that I signed up to Smith & Solomon! Since the very beginning she was patient, kind and knowledgeable. Her long lasting professionalism and amazing personality did not allow me to even consider checking out another school. She laid out the road map of what the program would consist of, assisted me with job placement options tailored for my personal needs. She was fully invested in my growth and that sincerity was great fuel to drive me to excel in the course & eventually succeed. Sincerely, appreciate all of your help and all the good times created throughout my journey it would be impossible without you! Malcom was the in class professor that I was extremely fortunate to have! From the beginning this man provided a fun and healthy learning environment for those that were willing to participate. He gave us the good, the bad and the truth of what being a trucker consisted of. Malcom made it easy to remember lessons taught in class which eventually transitioned to passing the knowledge test the first time around. He told us to make friends early in the classroom and in the yard. This lead to an unbreakable camaraderie that helped fellow classmates hold each other accountable as well as challenge each other in a positive manner. With his advice and guidance I had the pleasure to make some lifelong friends that I can consider family. Appreciate everything you have taught us and I cannot Thank You enough brother! Mrs. Jeanette literally will move mountains for you or die trying! She is extremely pleasant, personable & knowledgeable. Mrs. Jeanette will ensure you physically have everything you need to pass. From ensuring that there is water and tents all the way to ensuring the trucks are in working order for the yard and road. When it comes to pre-trip this woman will test you to verify you are ready for any examiner. She is also responsible for everyone getting some road time when you advance to that level. Everyone gets a fair shake and if you do well enough she will give you a test date based on what is best for you. With tons of experience and a helping soul you can’t go wrong with her guidance. Fantastic experience: Joining Smith And Solomon School for truck driving was one of the best decisions I ever made. When i enrolled myself and started my first day at School I knew nothing when it came to truck driving. Now that I recently completed the course and passed the test at Motor Vehicles, i truly do know what I’m talking about when it comes to “in-cab inspection” “Physical Brake Checks” “Pre-Trip Inspection” of a Semi-Truck and also learning how to become a safe professional Truck Driver. Fantastic experience: I went here because it was local. After registering i read some reviews and was a little concerned. Now that I have completed the program and passed my test I can fairly say, this is a good place to learn. Many reviews say they are understaffed, and some days in the yard it does feel that way, but never once did I not get the help I need when asked. I also can say all of the instructors are knowledgeable and actually have to chops to do everything they are asking you to do flawlessly. The instructors I experienced were 3 completely different personalities and styles. They all contributed to me in their own way and I was better because they were so different. The trucks are old and beat up but so are everyone else's yard trucks. The road trucks are newer model Freightliner Cascadia's and are great. Lastly, but not least, The ladies in the office are superb at what they do. Any issue that arose for me or other students were quickly resolved with grace. Take advantage of their services. Miss Janette for example, will get you test dates well before the MVC website will. Miss Beverly knows the ins and outs to work out what you need to get you started right away. I could go on and on about them two all day. Overall great experience. It can be no frills at times, but so are all the schools in our area that sometimes charge more than S&S.

Fantastic experience: From the time I walked through the front door I was given nothing but honest answers and clear expectations. They made it possible to pursue a new career while still working full-time. From the office staff to the trainers they give you what you need to succeed! They "TEACH" you how to become a truck driver. They will give you instructions and allow you to learn how the truck reacts They have a proven method if you put your trust in them. Having recently graduated and landing a great job immediately, their voices are with you while working. They went above and beyond offering career advice, techniques to master the skills necessary to drive the tractor trailers and how to back them up with precision. They teach from experience how to safely navigate roads and turns. I am a recent graduate having obtained my CDL A thanks to the team at Deptford. If you are interested in obtaining your CDL license, Smith and Solomon is the place to go to get the training needed. From my first call to the school to obtain information, Ms. Beverly was welcoming, extremely helpful and remained in contact throughout my time at the school . Ms. Jeanette was always available to answer questions and was extremely helpful when working with me to help me fit my training schedule with my work schedule. From my first day in the yard Mr. Will was extremely helpful. He made my time in the yard safe, informative and enjoyable. Mr. Will's years of experience has made him extremely knowledgeable and most importantly, he is a great teacher. This combination made my time working with him extremely productive. My on the road training with Mr. Mike was also a great experience. From my first day behind the wheel, Mike encouraged me and provided me valuable advice that helped me get acclimated and become comfortable driving, shifting and braking. Anyone who is able to sit in the passenger seat and teach someone who is driving a tractor-trailer on the road for the first time has to have nerves of steel and Mike definitely has. His experience as a driver and his ability to convey that information while on the road was invaluable to my success. In the yard, Steve was also very helpful and always willing to take the time to answer questions and provide advice. Safety is taken very seriously at the school which was great to see as well. Miss Jeanette and Beverly kept all my paperwork in order and me up to date during COVID-19. Mr Reggie, Will, Mike and Steve helped me with my mastering my pre trip and yard maneuvers. They have figured out a training system that works flawlessly. Put the time and effort in and the instructors will help you out along the way and have you ready to test within 160 hours of training. Fantastic experience: Pros: During my training at Smith and Solomon in West Deptford for CDL class A overall it was the best hands on experience/ training you could receive driving a commercial vehicle. Starting with Jeanette and Beverly for getting me started in June 22nd very friendly and kind. My trainers were excellent starting with Reggie he explains everything in class, answers questions, and gives his own experiences. In the yard he teaches you to avoid mistakes and learn from those mistakes. Mike & Will, they will push you to get your pre trip right and on the road training. They also did great by teaching me to watch my surroundings at all times and be more alert while on the road. They push you to become and excellent driver. If you do decide to go to this school you will not regret it. They also have truck companies come to the school and they give the opportunity for employment right after you finish School so you can start working. Thank you to everyone Cons: None

Fantastic experience: Great guy owns the place. Good energy there

Positive experience: Ms. Beverly and the staff are awesome people! Getting started was easy and swift. I paid a down payment of around $1K and financed the rest, they have different payment options. This school is for self starters, go-getters, and people who are serious about getting their CDL. No one is going to hold your hand and walk you through the process, you have to go and get it. You start in a classroom setting in the first week learning what you need to know to pass the test for your permit. You can also take practice tests. Once you get your permit you are allowed into the yard where you get hands on experience operating a manual transmission tractor trailer. The instructors teach you a maneuver one time! The rest is up to you to learn through your own mistakes. You are allowed to do the maneuver twice, and you are out so the next student can go. The lines can get very long. In the morning you’d be lucky to get into a truck twice, but the crowds slow up in the afternoon where you can get some real practice. Once you learn your pre trip, most of the maneuvers and reach 120 hours then you can go out on the road. You can’t get better instructors than George and the other guys in the road trucks. They are the best! I learned quickly with these guys. I attended S&S in Deptford Summer 19 for six weeks. I passed on my first try. I recommend this school to any self starter serious about getting their CDL but not to a person who needs to be walked through. You’ll be there forever if you don’t take initiative.

Fantastic experience: My experience at Smith & Solomon was great .They have a really great staff . From enrollment to road instructors. Everyone has a large amount of knowledge about the trucking industry that can be very useful. In class instructor Rob will give u everything you need and more to prepare you for your permit test. Great guy with a ton of knowledge (Thanks Rob). Yard Instructors as well with so much experience and good personalities. They make it easy to learn and have fun while your doing it. More than willing to help so don't be afraid to ask questions if you need to. They will make sure you get training you need to maneuver those trucks properly. Last the road instructor are phenomenal as well. They do a really great job getting you prepared for your road test. With that said Id like to give special thanks to the Smith &Solomon family/staff . Yard instructors-Mr. Mike, Mr. Will , Mrs. Katt and the person I may have bothered the most Mr. George . Thank you all I truly appreciate the time spent. Mrs Beverly and Jeanette are beautiful spirited people that deserve a applause for all they do. The instructors are great and very helpful, Mike, George, Earl and Dave were helpful in different ways, but I tell you that each of there ways taught me something and I appreciate that. Rob in the classroom is cool he knows his stuff well educated and has alot of experience in trucking. All of the instructors are totally different in their personalities and teaching styles, which makes your learning experience even greater! Fantastic experience: I spent four months at Smith and Solomon driving school at Deptford location. It was a great learning experience in a friendly environment. All of the instructors were drivers with a lot of experience. You can learn not only maneuvers but also they are ready to share their thoughts about job placement, tips of how to be successful in the truck driving career, important safety details, and more. The ladies in the office were also very friendly and always ready to help. For that reasons, I strongly recommend the school. You can trust them.

Fantastic experience: At first I thought this wasn't for me but the more hours I kept at it and getting to know all the instructors! Fantastic experience: Wouldn’t have wanted to train anywhere else. The whole staff goes above and beyond to make sure the students are successful. Malcolm, Beverly, Dave, George, Mike, Jennette and all the other members of the training staff worked their hardest to ensure myself and the other students were successful. Would recommend anyone who is considering getting their CDL to simply go in and check it out, the place will speak for itself. Fantastic experience: amazing school. If you really want to go to a facility to get your moneys worth, Smith and Solomon Bellmawr is the place to go.This site had to have some of the most down to earth instructors and management teams I've seen. When I first began attending the school, I went in with an empty mind ready to learn as much as I can. once I got into the yard truck , no matter how comfortable I felt with the straight back Mike kept me on this particular maneuver for a few more days. Once I was done with straight back, I moved on to the 45. When I felt comfortable with the 45, Mike felt that I was ready, not for the next maneuver, but for some curve balls. He would set cones up across the entire yard and have me move the truck all the way across and reverse the truck into the designated spot. and it was at that point, when I completed the obstacle with a slight sweat, that he felt I was ready to move on. Once I began my offset maneuver, another instructor came out to the yard to see me drive. at first he was not impressed, but as days went by and I consistently rehearsing my backing skills, I started to grab his attention. As the days went by, Mr George also began throwing curve balls my way because I was known as the student who likes to get it in the spot the first time. So by shortening the backing length to just enough, he finally got my to break my bad habit. And from that point on, I knew school had officially started. George is the type of instructor that is flexible with everyone. he will analyze you from a distance and sift out your strengths and weaknesses and alter his lesson plans accordingly. He is not a "do it my way" type of instructor. he has rhythms and hymns that help you keep a good flow when studying your pre trip. Although it is a lot of information to take in, when he teaches his lessons on each part you will truly understand why u need to inspect the area, what to look for, and have a flow so that all point of contact and inspection are reached properly and precisely. Once you get out on the road George takes you step by step to make sure you have the fundamentals before moving the truck and/or driving any distances. Along with railroad crossing, underpass, intersections, and emergency stop procedures. you will have it all down pact attending the yard in Bellmawr,. The support system from everyone at the school is phenomenal, they always ways uplift you even if something did not go as planned. They try their hardest to bring your anxiety down so that you can focus on what you have to do and make some money. This school will so casually make you build a bond with a semi truck and trailer, bus, or class B truck whatever your preference is. It does not matter here and everyone is welcome. I will regularly visit and pay homage to those who helped me get to where I am today. If you want a place to make you feel like family attend here they really work together for you.

Fantastic experience: I want to thank Smith and Solomon I passed my CDL Test today. The instructors Earl, Dave, Rob, Mike and George treated me like family and instructed me on how to pass the test. Mrs.Beverely and Mrs.Janis treated me like family also. And i'm glad i picked that school to go to, and as family i will go back and visit as often as I can. Going in I was so stressed about the so many things envolved in the process and it felt very intimidated but with allot of effort and determination I was able to complete and pass my road test on the first try. Fantastic experience: Im Jeffrey Sutton and i just completed school at Smith and Solomon, when i first went Mrs. Bev was so warm and friendly made me feel at home and i knew it was the place for me. My classroom instructor was Mr. Malcolm he was good at getting the information to as well as making u laugh n relax he help any way he could, Mr. Mike the yard instructor is a great man who cares and enjoys teaching you how to solve problems, there was a couple times i felt like giving up but Mr. Mike told me get back in truck then he would come over and give me that personal , Mr. Dave is a hard instructor who keeps u on ur toes cause u have to do work or u wont pass. Mr. George is a road instructor who is the best at getting u to relax and learn the gears he is serious but teaches u how to be safe , he only wants the best for u so if he had to tell u something over n over its cause he wants the best of u, Mr. Earl is road instructor that gives u his experience as a truck driver and everything u need to know when takes u out on the highway ur first time , scared yes i was but he helped me relax n quit coffee lol, Mrs. Janette is absolutely a great person who will do whatever she can to help you , you cant meet her n not love , all around great person. I dont have anything but 5 stars to say about everyone n the school. YOU ARE GIVEN EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO PASS THE COURSE BUT IF YOU DONT PUT THE TIME AND EFFORT INTO IT ITS YOUR FAULT, love you all snowflake

Fantastic experience: I am so glad i went with Smith & Solomon Driving School for my CDL. The instructors have years of experience driving trucks and it shows in their teaching. They really care about what they do and want everyone to pass. They will not let you give up on yourself. I wanna thank Mr. Mike for everything I remember when I first started for the very first time in the truck doing straight back I wanted to quit but mike would not let me fail he pushed me till I got it right because of you I am able to do what ever I want with that trailer. Mr.George thank you for everything I am A CDL driver today because you I am not trying to discredit the other instructors but you are one of a kind you're teaching got me to pass on my first attempt I made a few mistake but all I kept on hearing was your voice in my head Jerry you got this you know it so drive the truck, Thank you Once again George. Fantastic experience: From the first time I walked in, Beverly was right there to help. She was very informative and guided me step by step to enter the correct class. She always made sure to help in a timely fashion. Jeanette is one of the main bosses here and helped me when I was in a tight spot without blinking an eye. The instructors were attentive and knowledgeable. I want to especially mention Malcolm. His on-road instruction was great and he could teach anyone to shift an 18 wheeler. Overall, my experience with Smith and Solomon was outstanding and I would highly recommend it to anyone trying to receive their CDL.

Fantastic experience: Great school as well as awesome instructors! I graduated Oct. 22, 2018 and I received my hat (graduate's know). They also check on me to make sure I'm doing okay. The instructors make sure you know how to drive before you get test which awesome. A great school to get your permit and license as well as medical card.

Fantastic experience: Contacted S & S this past June reference CDL B with passenger endorsement. Beverly contacted me promptly and scheduled a information session the following week. She is very personable and knowledgeable. Started class in July. All those I had contact with were great, knowledgeable and willing to help anyway they could. Took and passed my test in mid August and am now working at a great job. Thanks to all staff at Smith & Solomon for a great experience.

Fantastic experience: 4 months ago my boyfriend Ali contacted Smith and Solomon in Bellmawr NJ to receive information regarding the CDL course. Beverly was very sweet and kind, she answered all of our questions and got him enrolled quickly. She is very professional and is knowledgable in the trucking industry which is exactly what we needed going into this. During his 4 months, Ali would go to work during the day and then attend CDL class at night, and also on weekends. He would tell me that he was learning a lot from all the instructors, especially Ms. Kat, Malcolm, and George. Every night was a story to be told about his experience training with them and how much he was learning from them. During his DMV Road Test, Ali was very happy to see that Janet, who is the manager, was there to root him and the others on. It meant a lot to him to have that support. I’m happy to say that he passed and received his CDL License, as he never would’ve been able to do it without the help from everyone at Smith and Solomon. I’m grateful for every single person who got him to where he is today. It’s funny to look back to 4 months ago when we first started this process to now and how much has changed, for the better. This is a great school and I would recommend anyone to come here.

Fantastic experience: Great staff I’ve been through this experience before of obtaining my class A but let my Medical expire... so I came to Bellmawr Smith and Soloman because I know that I was going to get the right training with up to date equipment and knowledge. Basically I’ve completed my course and re-obtained my class A with the help from staff. So that’s twice! That I’ve been one and done And believe me the test that dmv has is way more extensive then my first time. Thanks

Fantastic experience: My husband went to this school through a grant we are eternally grateful for whilst on unemployment. This school's instructors are awesome as is Tiname! From the first time we went to the school, it felt like the right fit. My husband does not have enough accolades for Tiname (Admissions), Big John (Yard Instructor), Little John (Road Instructor), Tom (Air Brakes and In Cab Inspection)and Bernie (Classroom seasoned trucker who taught the class)! Thank you to you all from us both! My husband feels confident and the school worked with him as he stumbled at times with encouragement and support to get to where he is today! Anyone who has bashed this school has not put the needed effort/work in. My husband knows how to drive the big truckss and best of all, he feels confident as a newly licensed CDL Class A driver!

Fantastic experience: If you are looking for a great cdl school. I would go here. I started cdl training in feb 05 2018. I graduated March 29 2018. The staff and trainers at smith and Solomon are the best. I am going back to the school in a few months to get my passenger endorsement. They go above and beyond to help you get your cdl. Rob who does the first week of book training. He knows his stuff. Anthony and Dave who are in the yard Are great trainers in the trucks. Earl who takes you on the road Teaches you how to drive the truck like a professional in as little as two days. Janet and Beverly who are on the office They are excellent. Any time I have a question they knew the answer. Alli who helps you find a job goes above and beyond to help you. This school will definitely point you in the right direction.
