Negative experience: This the worst place to take your driver test every time my son take it he fail it already been three times the instructor are rude and mean and they fail you for the most stupid things.

Negative experience: I went here Two times for my road test and failed both times, the first time was partially my fault because I failed the parking and only had one attempt.(I watched him give multiple other people 2 attempts at parking). Then my 2nd test I was doing perfect and then at a stop sign when I was turning right, I was inching forward so I could see down the road more to make sure it was clear before I turned, a truck switched lanes right in front of me and sped up so the instructor Jim yelled stop multiple times while at this time I was still behind the stop sign. I can absolutely confirm that this place is there just to steal your money and he’s not even hiding it. When he hopped out of the vehicle back at the place he had a smirk on his face and said see you next time. I wouldn’t recommend this place to even the most experienced driver in the world because they would still find a way to fail you.

Negative experience: ZERO stars, go anywhere else!!!! Jim was intimidating, rude and unprofessional. Everything he said was rude and scripted. He made it obvious he was in charge to both my daughter and I. I knew moment we sat at his desk. My daughter sat in the chair in front of his desk and he barked at me to sit in the chair exactly at the end of the desk, facing him like I was a small child in trouble at school. He did the vehicle safety check and rudely asked my daughter if she was dyslexic, because she confused the right and left blinkers during the inspection. Then he told me not to "make them come get" me after the parking portion. She passed parking with flying colors we got into the car. My daughter sniffled from allergies and he barked again, asking her if she was sick. Then he proceeded to bark his scripted instructions at her, had her verbally agree by saying "yes". Barked his scripted instructions at me and had me verbally agree by saying "yes". Part of his speach was "there will be zero small talk". Super!! Before we pulled out of the driveway he started yelling at my daughter to "stop, stop, stop, you almost just killed all of us"! There was a car coming and we were on gravel, after he huffed and puffed, because she didn't taken an opportunity sooner! His yelling was an extreme exageration and no one would have died! He immediately failed her, told her to go in and reschedule for tomorrow! Are you kidding me!!!! She has since passed with another company who was surprised she didn't pass! I have contacted the State of Michigan and filed a complaint about Jim and this company! This is not anything I have ever done. I am not a blame pusher or complainer, but this experience was absolutely unacceptable! Jim is not the be all, end all, almighty and powerful!! The other lady we came in contact with were the only bright spot! Save yourself time, money, stress and teen tears! Use Ezway in Kalamazoo! Nicole is amazing and when I told her about the PTSD Jim gave my daughter, she was very understanding, patient and human! And made small talk with both my daughter and I! Consider there are no comments from this company on their reviews as they don't care.

Negative experience: The place is horrible. Examiner was rude and impolite. Had something The next day he said he didn't care and that I should redo the test next day!

Fantastic experience: My experience here was great! Jim was my instructor and I was super nervous going into it but I had a calm drive and got a fist bump at the end saying I did great! Would definitely recommend this place for your drivers test.

Fantastic experience: The woman who guided me through my driver's test was very sweet and even helped me with my lefts and rights (I am dyslexic when it comes to my lefts and rights sometimes) by making hand motions to the left or to the right when I wasn't able to look down at the L and R I wrote on my thumbs with a pen. She also could tell how anxious I was during the test and made sure I was comfortable during the entirety of the test and always offered to answer any questions I had. 10/10 would recommend this place if you were to take your driver's test.

Negative experience: If you’re going to read any review please read this one. for the love of God and everything that is good in this world, do NOT take your road test here. I had read the reviews before taking my test here (took it and failed THREE times) and thought people were simply exaggerating when they said that they fail you just to fail you and they are money hungry and unfair. But it was so much worse than I thought. I took all three of my tests with Jim, who was rude, intimidating, and unfair. I spent almost $400 just trying to pass my road test here, which should’ve been pretty simple considering Lawton roads are empty and have large lanes. This was literally such a bad experience. When asked what I could do better, he said and i quote, “Some people take their tests 15 to 20 times here and still fail. Just gotta come back and try again” I don’t know what makes him think this is a normal experience to have, but they 1000% fail you just to steal your money all over again. I ended up taking it in Benton Harbor at EZ Way and passed right away. Don’t go to semi academy testing if you don’t want them to steal your hard earned money. Awful place and awful people. Wish I could give them zero stars.

Fantastic experience: Lets face it, nobody WANTS to go to class. We are all in pursuit of the end product- the license, degree, certification..etc. With this being the first "driving school" I've attended, I had no idea what to expect when I came here to get my Class B CDL. Ginny was the instructor of my small, 3 person class. The course was easy to follow and allowed for different kinds of learning, not just hammering you with notes and a book all day. She was always pleasant, patient and also personable with everybody. We all had some good laughs throughout the week on something that Im sure is extremely repetitive for her to teach on a weekly basis. I also had John for a stand-in at times, and Lynn as my "tester". They were both pleasant to deal with as well. All of the trainers had decades of years of experience and insight to things above and beyond what the course required that will also help you down the road, so thats a bonus. ...just go here and get it done! -Adam S

Fantastic experience: Best place!

Negative experience: Steer clear of this place unless you like throwing money away. Went to have a CDL road and inspection test. Have been driving for 12 years and tester seemed to suggest I needed more training in the pre test interview. His demeanor was cold and short, like a drill Sargent. He failed me after five minutes of the in cab inspection. Easy $355 for him and the "school". Others on here have had similar experiences. First try is a automatic fail so these scammers can double their fees. The country is screaming for truck drivers and this place is not only keeping them from working but stealing from them in the process. Shame on these people.

Fantastic experience: I think my instructors name was jim, he was very nice and explained what I did wrong at the end, and told me what I could fix. Was a pretty good experience even though I was very nervous.

Negative experience: Do go this location to take a test, you just waste your time and money. They try to fail you no reason. The examiner no heart, I was failed two times. I did perfect but they still said you turns, intersections , stop & start.... They just want to do what they want. 'Right , they want to fail you.

Fantastic experience: This is the great, one and only driving school Semi Academy. This is one great organization hands down. Great people and great place.

Fantastic experience: I went here twice, the first time I failed Jim gave me a long talk about I could do to improve. The second time I came I passed, but Jim made sure I knew what I needed to work on so I could be better equipped for the road! He was very professional!

Negative experience: The instructor didn't know All the road laws very unhappy with the service I will be going somewhere else

Negative experience: I do not recommend testing here, my daughter tried 3 times to pass and failed all 3 times. The first two times she tested, she passed the parking portion - and on the 3rd time she failed the parking portion, therefore we could not go on to the driving portion, which in my opinion should be the most important part of a driving test! I know others who failed the parking portion, including myself and were able to take the road test - but not here, not with Hillary - it is disappointing to pay that much money and still not even have a chance to pass the test.

Fantastic experience: Jinny taught me pre-inspection, parking, road test skill. She's such a great instructor for sure. It was wonderful experience and I was having really fun with them. It was really good moments except I had to get up early and drive an hour to be there lol. Today I took the test. Lynn was my examiner also she couldn't say anything other than the rules. She's not allowed to tell me which part I've messed up or not.(I asked her after I pass the test) Because the State says so. By the way I took the test once and pass it. Thank you guys. It's not really hard test. But it was my first test in the US. Thats mean alot. Thanks for your service and kindness.

Fantastic experience: Small class sizes, knowledgeable CDL instructors! I just completed a 1 week Class A CDL ELDT course through semi academy in Lawton. It was the closest school to me, the class was accelerated for students who already have wheel time and experience with their permit or F endorsement. I highly recommend them to anyone who already has experience, and wants to be prepared to pass their pretrip inspection, and CDL Drivers test. If you just got your CDL permit and have zero wheel time I recommend a school with a longer class, I had a lot of experience with my permit and I felt this was fast paced learning. Small school with a great variety of trucks, trailers, and all the instructors have lots of professional experience as drivers over the road.

Fantastic experience: I took the CDL A course and had John as my instructor. John did a great job over the week teaching me what I needed to know to pass the pre trip, skills test and road test. I was a little nervous at the beginning of the week but by the end of the week I felt comfortable and confident in what I was taught to pass. Everything worked out and I passed, thank you semi academy and thank you John! My examiner Jim was also great. He was friendly and gave me clear instructions, thank you Jim.

Negative experience: I took my daughter for her drivers test today as I have taken two sons to this same facility for testing. Mr. Dominges was EXTREMELY rude and disrespectful when I asked if he was finished with the paperwork for the vehicle, and her birth certificate and drivers training certifications. I simply asked if he was finished with the papers and he rudely repeated 5 times that it needed to be present in the vehicle. I acknowledged that the insurance and registration needed to be put in the glove box as that is where it had been retrieved and he continued to be rude and repeat that the papers needed to be present in the vehicle. I placed the papers in the vehicle and the others in my bag. My daughter did not pass. She of course was upset/angry. The man spent 5-10 minutes taking to her prior to telling me that she did not pass. On the way home she told me he did not tell her why she did not pass, I told her the things I saw that appeared to be wrong with her range work and left a message for Mr. Dominges to return my call so that I could explain to her first hand why she did not pass. Mr. Dominges called back extremely hostile and spewing that he was not going to argue with me I heard the instructions.... Bottom line is that my daughter needs more practice. I said I completely agree, and I am trying to solidify that concept by providing the accurate information but he just keeps interrupting and would not listen. I asked him where his hostility comes from as it started from the time she gave back the paperwork. He just said he would not debate. I did not attempt to debate anything he just kept interrupting and talking over me when I was just trying to find out the exact reasons as I could not provide that without his input. No need for hostility, just trying to provide my daughter with the exact reasons as I had already told her that she needed to practice parking and she "didn't know why she failed". She is my 4th child and I am 100% certain that she was mad/upset and didn't hear him, I never disputed/debated that she was told, I just want to know so that I could further dive home the fact that she needs to practice. Don't automatically assume the someone wants to debate and become hostile Mr. Angry!

Fantastic experience: I will give this place 5 star just because of Guillermo Dominguez (willy), Officer Guillermo "Willy" Dominguez was my examiner. He was the best examiner I could've wished for. he was super patience, clear with instructions, he is an amazing person. 1000% recommended

Fantastic experience: The instructor, ginny, did a good job of teaching us everything that would be on the driver test and pre trip inspection. I'm new to driving school bus, and I felt very confident doing the tests. I passed and got my CDL B with passenger and air brakes no problem.

Negative experience: Pre paid for testing, showed up in Lawton with company truck and trailer. Examiner told me on in cab pre trip, would NOT speak to me and would not give any affirmation points on when to move on. Park of Air Brake Check is hold brakes for one minute. As I am counting outloud to 60 sec. At approx 25 sec the examiner stated, your 1 min is up and can move forward......... Then I finished the Air Brake Check procedure as per the manual. Then failed me for not performing Air Brake Check procedure properly. My question that cannot be answered is, how does the examiner have the authority to tell me to move forward before the 60 seconds is up for Brake leak down, then fail me for procedure not performing correctly. How does the examiner have the authority to vere outside the manual then expect the driver to perform perfectly, as I was told must be performed "word for word" as per the manual. I will NEVER recommend this school to anyone, double standards have never set well with me.

Negative experience: Go to FCG in Byron Center for CDL Training/Testing. Lawton will fail you for anything they can!

Negative experience: Do not go there it’s a waste of money. Frank is not a good person at all and I will be reporting them to the state. My second time there and was told I failed because I didn’t check the brake pads that you can’t see without taking the tires off. Now for a pre trip on a big truck that would take quite awhile to do every morning.

Fantastic experience: Hillary was very helpful and understanding. For an individual with ADHD, such as myself, this is a big must. Staff in the office were very polite as well. I personally highly suggest this drivers training school tenfold over E-Z Way.

Fantastic experience: I was recommended this place by my auto teacher after being denied the ability to test at Allstar in beton harbor.I should have chosen these guys to begin with.For starters I was sent multiple messages leading up to the test reminding me of the time and location of the test and Allstars testing didn't even send me a message the day of the test to tell me I had a test at all.When I arrived the lady at the desk said goodmorning and gave clear simple instructions about my test and was not rude at all unlike the way they are at all star.During the actual exam the lady gave me crystal clear instructions and was very helpful with the feedback she gave me.I would recommend this place to anyone and eager others to not waste there time with another company.the semi academy got me in out and licensed in one day and for 5 dollars less then Allstar and with no frustration or confusion!

Fantastic experience: Good place

Negative experience: My younger sister took her driving test here. Half the time the instructor was looking out the window, not paying attention to the speedometer or my sister at all. She also proceeded to not give her a warning with her speed, although she only went over the speed limit by 2 but still failed from it. We will definitely not be going back there, as this was her second test and there were inconsistencies between her first and second experience here. Seems like they just want to make you take the test multiple times to get money.

Positive experience: This is great place to take your test. The instructors are very kind. There is one woman who answers the phone. She has such awful phone etiquette. She so blatantly disrespectful and does not care. When we went for the test she was just as disrespectful and rude.

Negative experience: Had a CDL test scheduled, they called and cancelled it 3 hours before my test because Frank got pneumonia and was gone, so i was cool about it and rescheduled, then the day before my rescheduled test they tried to cancel again and i was frustrated and asked them to give me another examiner.. she calls back 5 minutes later and says she has another guy that will do my test the next day at 1pm.. i woke up next day about to head to my test and my battery on my truck was completely dead and bad so i called and told them id have to reschedule and they told.me.they were going to take 160$ out of my 335$ and keep it because i didnt call 48 hours ahead of time... SO APPARENTLY THESE CROOKS ARE OK WITH RUNNING U AROUND MAKING U WAIT AND RESCHEDULING YOUR TEST ON THEIR BEHALF BUT IF ANYTHING HAPPENS ON YOUR END, EMERGENCY OR NOT, YOU STILL LOSE YOUR MONEY.. REAL UNPROFESSIONAL AND SNOOTY OFFICE PPL THEY HAVE THERE. LOOKING INTO SUING THEM FOR MY MONEY BACK. A$$HOLES

Fantastic experience: We had a GREAT experience here. The staff is professional, friendly, helpful, experienced, and encouraging. The person who administered the road test introduced herself and put my son at ease right away. She explained all directions clearly and answered all his questions. So glad we chose to come here!

Fantastic experience: I was extremely nervous to take my driving test, because the parallel parking part wasn’t my strong point and I was afraid of failing... and then, the morning of my test, my car started acting up. Luckily they were kind enough to let me rent their car for the test even though it was very last minute. My instructor was Hilary and she was wonderful! She explained things very well and encouraged me to ask as many questions as I needed. She was very calm and down to earth. It made a nerve wracking situation for me actually pretty chill and simple.

Negative experience: I went in for the basic skills and road test and I was failed before my first intersection due to lack of clear instructions its to bad there isn't a setting for zero stars dont bring your business to them!

Fantastic experience: Chris was our instructor and did a fantastic job testing our daughter. Very confidence inspiring, super friendly, and just all-around pleasant to be around. Highly recommend this place! He did not allow my daughter to cut corners but explained things very clearly in order to set her up for success. Thank you Chris and the staff of Semi Academy Testing.

Fantastic experience: What a great testing experience! Chris was my daughter's instructor and he was phenomenal. So patient and I felt like he cared about her passing. Definitely not JUST a job for him. I highly recommend taking your driving test here!

Fantastic experience: Everyone from Semi Academy was professional and polite. They go out of their way to make sure you understand everything before you test. Clearly negative reviews are failing students which is fine. But all you have to do is ask questions if your unsure and you will get your answers. Hands down best place to go for a type of vehicle training.

Negative experience: New drivers test review: This business scams people by failing their first $100 attempt by: a) taking them on a very difficult route b) first instructors instructions were vague, overly critical, unfriendly. 2nd attempt $80: a) humourously simple route b) second instructor was very friendly, gave very detailed instructions. My theory is this business trys hard to fail new drivers in order for them to come back and pay more money. After the fact, I discovered three of my co-workers had the same experience with this business. My recommendation would be to ask what routes they commonly test on so new driver can practice on. Beware of exit 66 off 94 eastbound leads to a roundabout that feeds into another roundabout (look on Google maps). This is challenging for a seasoned driver let alone a beginner.

Fantastic experience: The instructor Chris was amazing such a great guy!!! He made my son comfortable not a stressful environment, very clear on his instructions. Semi academy should be grateful they have him because I would recommend them specifically because Chris is there all three of my children have tested there and my first experience was horrible and the next two we had Chris and it was wonderful and Angie has been great!!

Fantastic experience: Had my son take his driver's test out here. He was super nervous. Our tester was Chris and I can't say enough good things about him. He was very calm and made a great effort to put my son at ease. It was a great experience.

Openly discriminants...at least on medical and religion. Would not recommend. Spoke with the manager, then an owner. Lots of double talk and excuses. Go somewhere else!!

Fantastic experience: Very good instructions! I tested with Willie after trying one time! He made sure that I was at ease and comfortable during my test. He did not make me feel ashamed about mistakes, he did make sure to let me know and gave great advice. Such a kind man.’in the end it was happy tears. ❤️ I will recommend this to all people I know who need a test! ❤️

Positive experience: The lady answering the phone was short, rude and not very friendly. She was the only thing wrong with the service. If her phone etiquette was better this place would be a 5 star! Willie by far was the coolest guy I’ve ever meet. He’s fair, strict, punctual and genuine! I am very pleased and HIGHLY recommend!

Fantastic experience: Chris was very nice, personable, friendly and professional. His respectful personality helped my daughter to stay calm and not be stressed out. This is exactly what she needed to keep her head and stay focused during her driving test! I will definitely encourage my friends to take their new drivers to your establishment above all others! Negative experience: They were super disrespectful over the phone and told me to go get my information when it was in the other room and they hung up when it only took 5 seconds to get it. Super rude.

Negative experience: Very Upset with their customer service. They did not communicate that the Governor's order in regards to extending the Car Registration's did NOT apply to them. It's not on their website nor did they call ahead to inform us. Showed up to take the test and was told my Registration was not valid. When I went to reschedule, even though they had NOT communicated to their customers a KNOWN issue, they wanted to charge me AGAIN. What a SCAM!

Fantastic experience: I was absolutely sceptical when I was told I can get my class A CDL in 5 days. First of all, my instructor Kerry, was absolutely amazing! He knows his stuff and if you are willing to learn, you will know your pre-trip inspection, skills test and road test like the back of your hand by Friday. I recommend and encourage anyone who wants their CDL to get on board and come here to get it! Very impressed by the whole experience and will recommend semi academy to anyone looking to get their CDL!

Fantastic experience: I was going to write a review but after reading so many, everyone I read took the words fight out of my mouth. Had a great experience for the week preparing for and getting my Class A C.D.L. I worked with Kerry as I see others have and he was an excellent instructor as I have read others felt the same. During my testing I had the same experience that I have seen others report in that it was both professional yet friendly making it more relaxing thus limiting the likelihood of making mistakes. I do recommend Semi Academy.

Fantastic experience: I highly recommend Semi Academy if you are looking for your CDL "A". My instructor, Kerry, was outstanding. His knowledge and instruction techniques are flawless. I had no trouble at all with the in-cab, vehicle inspection, or skills test. My test administrator, Chris, was excellent. His attitude was professional yet friendly, his directions were precise, leaving no question of what was expected. I will definitely be referring anyone who needs training to Semi Academy.

Negative experience: This place is horrible and I haven't even been there to take my test yet. I call to set up an appointment, and they were very very rude over the phone. Even despite how friendly I was being. Please don't waste your time calling or going to this place.

Fantastic experience: Just obtained my Class A CDL through this establishment on 10/11/2019. I was impressed through and through. My instructor was persistent, professional, patient, and friendly. . . a great combination of attributes that make up a fine teacher. . . and he wasn't afraid to tell you what you didn't want to hear (yet in a calm respectful way). The tester was also very professional, friendly, and had a way of making you feel at ease. I highly recommend this place if you are seeking your CDL. I took the one week course. . . I may have been able to do it in 3 days but it would have been a stretch for me - someone who didnt have much experience. Don't make the mistake that many people make and think you can obtain a CDL in 1 day or even 3 days. People fail the test and end up having to pay to take it over again - they go to great lengths to make sure that you understand this may be a possibility. Take the one week course if you can at all afford it - its well worth the investment!

Fantastic experience: I've had a great experience training there for my class A CDl. Big John trained me pretty well in just 3 days while mostly people spend 3 weeks in some schools. I got my CDL in the matter of only 10 days. Angie went way out of the way to schedule appointments for me . She was a big help in the whole process. Highly recommended

Fantastic experience: Years ago I attended this program and at that time, 1997 this place was a great school. I had no problems with pretrips or on the road after this program.

Negative experience: Would NOT recommend. This place was horrible and extremely unprofessional. Would not help us find a number to call our insurance company because we had no cell service. Only gave us 7 minutes to get all info. Very Rude customer service.

Negative experience: This place is a joke. I called to make an appointment for my son and before I made the appointment I asked if his grandpa could bring him, they said yes I just need to fill out a permission slip. So I make an appointment and when we get there they said no the only time you can do that is if there is an emergency. So they tell you one thing on the phone then another when you get there. Then on top of it she didn't explain what she wanted my son to do the flunked him. All they want is people's money, well they are never getting any more of our money.

Fantastic experience: The instructor Willie was wonderful, he explained everything and was very pleasant. It was a great experience from start to finish even the preparation for appointment.

Negative experience: 10/10 would NOT recommend. This place was horrible and extremely unprofessional. I don’t know the guy who “helped” us but he was very old and VERY disrespectful! Don’t waste your time or money at this place! I was scheduled for my road test the first time for “poor conditions” it was perfectly fine outside. And when I went in today they showed up 20 minutes late for the appointment and when we couldn’t find out insurance on spot they told us to leave. We found the insurance 2 minutes later and went back inside and they said sorry reschedule and now I have to pay again. But it WONT be to them!

Negative experience: My instructor was named William and he was very rude and obviously to old to be giving other people driving advice. He kept snapping his fingers in my face and telling my mom to be quiet when she was trying to talk to him. Failed me because he had to grab the steering wheel for now reason. We are currently reporting the whole place to Lansing would definately not reccomend.

Negative experience: Very unprofessional and extremely rude. Also, they scheduled us for a certain time and when we got there he argued and said it was for an hour later, so we had to wait. My boy failed his test over one minor mess up. Was scolded for going 1 mile per hour over the speed limit on the highway. Unless you want to give away your money just to get failed, I wouldn't recommend.

Negative experience: The instructor was very rude and treated me like I was an idiot after a small mistake, carried out by me the way he had stated it, was treated poorly the rest of the drive, will not be going here ever again and will never recommend this place, while we were waiting for the instructor the receptionist/scheduler was scolded for being unprofessional on the phone with customers don't go here unless you want to leave with a fail and crushed spirit.

Negative experience: It’s a effn joke going thru them don’t even waste your time going if you want to pass I got ripped off hard core wouldn’t even get my refund back Which they promised me if I don’t use the truck on the road

Negative experience: Would not recommend. Tried to take my driving test but got failed because the instructor I had gave me 2 extra points for no reason. Also when I got asked if I had taken drivers training before (I haven't), the instructor made this awful face at me almost like he was going to purposefully fail me.

Fantastic experience: I could pass driving test...I'm Chinese. So I can't hear will Sometimes .Guillermo (willie) was very patient and experienced examiner.. He also gave me some advices after the test, Highly recommended !!!

Positive experience: Although my student didn't pass her road test, the instructor was very fair and kind. He explained the issues in a very calm and polite way. We will be rescheduling with Semi again.

Negative experience: Please don't waste your money there the schedulers are very rude and can't handle customers,if they don't like your tone they will not let you test there but will take you money!!

Negative experience: This location seems to be more of a scam to get you out of your money by failing it's students and making them come back time after time with poor excuses I would not refer this place to anyone.
