Official Driving School

Positive experience: Took both segments here. The behind the wheel instructor ed Jones is horrible plz don’t book him if you want a good experience. Idk if he still works there but if he dose do not book him! Germany was amazing. I absolutely loved him and he made comming to class tolerable. Do not take your drivers test here please do it at anyware else. They will fail you for some bs reason. I passed first try and international.

Negative experience: I signed my daughter up for drivers training in May of this year for a virtual class to start July 22 at 5:15pm. I was notified the day before the class started, which happened to be a Sunday, that the class was now In Person at 1pm. We received no other communication from Official Driving School that the class we signed up for was no longer available and that we would be in a different class. When I called them asking for clarification, on the day the class started, I was told that in the contract it states they are allowed to change the class time and location and we needed to be accepting of their right to do so. They had no sympathy that they moved my daughter into an in person class in the middle of the day when both my husband and I work. We chose a virtual class for a reason and we also planned our summer around her registration. We will be out of town for a portion of the class and she will have to miss in person classes, which we will now have to pay $30 per class for her to be able to retake that class. I was told that I could request a refund or they could move me into a different class, none of which actually works with our schedule for the rest of summer. There was no sympathy from Mo in the office, he felt we should be more understanding and accepting of them as a business and that they had no obligation to the customers to notify us or work with us to resolve issues their lack of communication may have caused. I would absolutely never register a child with this program and will make sure that I tell everyone with a driving age child to look for alternative companies for their children. *Edited to say, I have sent 3 emails now to their info email address and received no response. I have also called their office and not been able to speak directly with anyone, i used their automated system to request a call back and have not received a call. Clearly this company is not in the business of customer service.

Positive experience: Amanda X. I had Robin. I think a lot of the information was redundant and it felt like a bit of a waste of time (i was struggling not to fall asleep) but that's the issue with policy rather than the actual class. It was convenient to have it virtually though, and my instructor was rather kind and understanding. So overall it was fine.

Fantastic experience: My name is Anita B. and I had Mr. John Turner as my driving instructor. I was very nervous before my first drive and he was an excellent instructor and guaranteed to me that everything would be alright. All of my drives were extremely enjoyable and fun! I am very glad I had the opportunity to have Mr. Turner as my instructor. The approach made the whole learning experience a great time that I looked forward to every day!

Positive experience: I did segment 1 here. My overall experience was pretty good, but one of the in-car instructors, was on his phone the whole time on my first highway drive and did not help me. However, Johnathan Mitchel Turner is the best in-car instructor. He really helped me with my driving and really cares!

He patiently works with the student and helps them build confidence by making minor corrections at a time. Having Mr. Germany as my instructor in class made the class more enjoyable and there were many laughs with all of the students.

Fantastic experience: I attended in person lesson at the Novi location and I highly recommend Official Driving School. My instructor made sure to cover every possible question that could be on my test, and my knowledge of the road significantly increased after only a couple classes. I went in knowing almost nothing, and came out feeling confident and ready to take my test. For four of my six driving sessions, I had Tom O’Callaghan. His teaching method definitely clicked with me. He was very interactive, and made great company while driving. He made sure to give adequate feedback on every decision I made so I could quickly improve my skills. I went in terrified to drive, but 10 minutes into my first drive I had an immense boost in confidence and felt ready to go onto the road. I appreciate all his feedback, and now i’m more ready than ever to tackle the challenges of the road. Again, special thanks to Tom.

Fantastic experience: Before I got to the driving school, I had not even ride a bicycle and had absolutely no road sense as well. I was very nervous and scared but I had to drop my kids to school so I was forced to learn driving. Mr.Tom was my assigned instructor. He was very patient, dedicated and an understanding teacher a student can get. He made me feel at ease and instilled confidence in me that I picked it up after 3 hours of in-car driving lessons. He gave many tips and tricks for parking, turning that helped me a lot. At the end of 8 hour of my lessons, I was very confident with my driving. Thanks to the wonderful teacher, I got Mr.Tom.

Fantastic experience: Tom Is the most amazing instructor.He is patient and calm and encouraging. My son had anxiety about driving as well as driving with somebody he did not know. In just the first drive Tom eased all of that anxiety. He taught my some great techniques for parking And other rules of the road. He was very accommodating to our schedule and working through the anxiety . I would highly recommend anybody to take driving lessons with Tom. Whether you're an adult or it is for your child you are in the hands not an angel.

Fantastic experience: I cannot speak more highly of Official Driving School. I have had 2 daughters go through them and they both passed their tests first time. My youngest daughter just had Tom O’Callaghan for her instructor, such a great instructor. He made her feel at ease from the minute he walked in the door for their first lesson and she was super anxious and nervous. She actually began looking forward to her driving lessons! If you are not sure it's worth the $ to put your kids through a set of lessons with these guys, don't be. Tom especially is very professional and great to work with. Highly recommend! Hope they get better cars in the future.

Fantastic experience: Came into this course with absolutely zero driving experience what so ever, and only a handful of online lesson under my belt. And I expected driving to be anxious and stressful, however I was quickly proven wrong from the first drive! Instructor Tom O’Callaghan was incredibly patient and caring, as well as providing great experience on how to drive. His understanding of not only roads and safe driving, but also his students truly makes him stand out as a phenomenal driver and instructor. The amount of progress I’ve made in 6 drives is hard to believe, and Tom was there to guide me through all of it. If you want a professional with experience that really cares, then this is a place I can’t recommend enough. And to official Driving school, please get Tom the sickest new full size pick up truck, this way the squirrels will finally get out of the way.

My driving instructors Tom and Marwan were great they both helped me out so much and gave me tips and pointers on my driving. They also had conversations with me so we didn’t sit in silence and thats a big deal. The Official Driving school is official.

Positive experience: My experience with Official Driving School was great. I have just finished segment 1, and I feel very confident with my driving ability. My instructors, Marwan Haitti and Tom O'Callaghan, taught me real life situations, not just from the textbooks. I personally would recommend Marwan, as he is very persistent on teaching you a valuable lesson at every moment possible. I took an weekend online class with Mr. Germany for segment 1. The weekend classes last a few more weeks than regular classes, but I think it is worth it if you have a busy week schedule already. It also gives you more time to schedule and complete all of your BTW and observation hours. The class itself is a little bit of a waste of time, but it does teach you what you need to know for the written test (which is very easy and mostly requires just common sense to pass). Another situation that Official Driving School helped me with was not having enough observation hours. My segment 1 class required 6 BTW hours and 4 observations hours. Due to some specific circumstances, I had 0 observation hours after my first 3 BTW hours. This meant that I usually would not be able to complete all of my observations considering I needed 4 more observations but only had 3 more BTWs left. This ended up not being a problem, as they were very flexible in being able to provide an extra observation hour before after one of my scheduled BTW and observations.

Fantastic experience: My experience here was great! Germany was my online instructor and he was great! He is nice and funny. For my drives I drove with Tom, he made my driving experience so much better, very talkative and friendly!

Fantastic experience: My daughter attended the Novi location where we had Tom. He was very easy going and taught my daughter a lot in the 6 hours she was behind the wheel. He also let me join in on the final drive as she was the only driver. I got to see his teaching skills and get some pointers from him. They also had very flexible drive times that worked well with my daughters sports schedule. I would definitely recommend them!

Fantastic experience: I typically do not leave reviews. However, my daughter had such an amazing experience with Tom O’Callaghan as her driving instructor, that I had to let others’ know. He is very calm and patient which is so important for these new drivers. He also allowed both her father and myself to drive along on her last practice drive of the session so that we were able to see how he gave corrections and where she was in her progress. He was also very flexible with scheduling the drives to accommodate our busy schedule. I would highly recommend you schedule all of your drives with Tom. You won’t regret it!

Negative experience: Mr. Germany embarrasses his students left to right and is a very unprofessional teacher. He shouldn’t be teaching class at all.
