911 Driving School - Mt. Pleasant

Negative experience: I can’t wait for them to prove me wrong so I can change my review. I check the driving instruction availability multiple times each day—-none. None!!!! They are happy to accept your hundreds and hundreds of dollars, but they do not provide the service you paid for. They clearly do not have enough driving instructors. They tell you it will take months to complete the course. They do not tell you that you need to check availability 15 times per day for weeks on end to get any instruction. I feel mis-led by the idea that police are doing the teaching. Police should be honest, right? I’m paying a lot of money to have the police teach my kid to drive. PLOT TWIST! They accept more students than they can serve.

Negative experience: It’s been a year since my experience and I now feel it’s time to give my honest review on this place. My daughter was made to feel awful by one of the instructors. To the point I wasn’t sure if she would drive again. When I complained, the owner called and basically told me my child was lying. He blamed this all on us being emotional females because I recently lost my husband. I myself felt bullied and under minded. Imagine how it made a young girl feel. We both left crying. Something I feel that would never have happened if he was talking to a man. I was able to go to another driving school in the area, and never had a single issue. Everyone there was so nice and accommodating. If I could give you some advice from my experience, it would be to go somewhere else. It’s been a year and this and this still bothers me.

Fantastic experience: We had a great experience with 911. Scheduled all 3 drives easily and took the driving test with Matt S. We even had a scheduling misunderstanding and he came in just for our hour drive. Thank you Matt! Our next two drivers will be coming soon!

Positive experience: Scheduling an in car lesson is like winning the lottery. You must constantly monitor the website and be ready to jump on any open date that may pop up. Looking today (June26) there are no available dates through July. Will there be available dates in August? Who knows? Not a fan. UPDATE: Turns out the online scheduling site is unreliable. It does not work on all devices. Best to schedule by phone or in person. Problem solved. Still, points off for failure to realize their site is defective. Other than that- effective and patient instruction and instructors.

Fantastic experience: Matt was a great. He is very professional and organized. I finished all three of my drives, and the test in just three weeks!

Fantastic experience: I had an amazing experience with 911 Driving School. I'm an adult driver and I'm a bit late getting my license because I lived in the city. I was embarrassed because of my age but the driving school made me feel so welcomed. The instructors I had were very informative and taught me skills that I will carry with me for a lifetime. Whenever I had a question about scheduling a drive or class, Karissa and the other staff members (Can't remember their names, I'm sorry) quickly responded and were always able to work with me and kept my schedule in consideration. I loved that I was able to take the road test with the driving school which saved me from going to the DMV. Speaking of which, I would like to thank Ed for passing me on my road test. He's a great guy and anyone would be lucky to have him as their instructor. Very informative and genuinely kind. All around great experience with this driving school. I highly recommend!

Negative experience: I’m sorry that my current state has made me more of a person that seems to be a selfish and a self righteous person. I wrote my review because I haven’t been able to book an appointment and due to covid I understand but also when I completed my online class it seemed like there were almost a hundred people on the class and I felt as though I couldn’t get a drive and that a company that would push that many kids through and then not be able to put them through the rest of the class in a timely fashion is a little bit silly. I understand covid restrictions are in place but I do not know if that altered the rest of the class on the online portion. It seemed as though with so many kids on the online portion that the company cared more for the money that they would procure than teaching the children they were charging. I am sorry that I wrote the review but I am in a state of reprieve at the moment. I honestly do not want a bad blood but it’s fine and now I feel as though this would effect the way I am treated in person and if I decided to take the driving test with the company’s instructors. Sorry I’m self entitled and ranted lol. Love the response such passive aggressiveness, it’s honestly actually very well written and gave me a drop in my stomach and created a feeling of self hatred that we love for children. Also this is not John Griffiths that’s my father. I am Putnam Griffiths who is actually attending the course (16 years old) See you on the 8th too ( so excited, will be fun to see everyone) !

Fantastic experience: We appreciated Deputy Carter helping our daughter be as safe and skilled as possible. Will definitely use this driving school for our next youth as well.

Fantastic experience: I highly recommend 911 driving school. My teenage daughter attended their driving classes and now has an outstanding foundation of safe driving skills that will be with her for a long time. I am very impressed at how 911 Driving School teaches safe skills that go way beyond the minimum required to pass a test. Mr Palmer was an outstanding instructor with high standards who made sure my daughter was ready for her test and ready for driving on her own.

Fantastic experience: My instructor, Deputy C M Carter helped me obtain my license by giving me clear and honest feedback. He made sure I understood everything that he taught me before the exam.

Fantastic experience: Misled by administration of the documentation required for international citizens to take driving test resulting in my not being able to undertake driving test on the scheduled date and the resultant waste of my time in correcting their misrepresentation. On learning of the issue the business owner, Margaret, contacted me and provided invaluable assistance in organizing an immediate DMV appointment the following day which culminated in my obtaining a SC Driving Licence that day. Exemplary customer service in resolving the previous issue

Fantastic experience: We loved this program for our 16 year old daughter. It was all about her safety and her confidence in the vehicle. We had 3 different instructors (all police officers) and they were all amazing! We even took the driving test there. Would recommend 100%!

Fantastic experience: This is really a neat place, situated next to a swanky(?) Irish Pub in a restful commercial compound. 911 staff are very helpful and the instructors are actual professional law enforcement with expertise that can only be gained through that profession. There is no better place to start a lifetime of driving than 911 Driving School.

The front office is so helpful and accommodating with the kids busy schedules. We loved Ed as her instructor. He was amazing! Highly recommend taking driving lessons here. It is so nice to be able to take the driving test here also!

Fantastic experience: My daughter's instructor was Mark. He made her feel comfortable, gave explicit written examples for difficult concepts, and intentionally reduced her anxiety before the test. I highly recommend him and Lord Ashley driving school.

Fantastic experience: What a wonderful/fantastic experience we had with this company. The staff and instructors really CARED about teaching our daughter how to drive and be a SAFE driver. The communication between the instructors, students and parents is KEY and really helped us do our part in putting the driving time in with our daughter. She just passed her road test at the DMV with flying colors! I cannot thank 911 Driving School enough. What a positive experience this was. I would highly recommend!!!!! 5 stars!!

Fantastic experience: My daughter's driving instructor, Lester, was a first class teacher. Having the right instructor is critical in getting off on the right foot and makes all the difference in the world. I would highly recommend 911.

Positive experience: The classroom instruction and driving instruction were good for my daughter. However I'm not convinced that it is worth the extra $50 to take the driving test with 911. There is no advantage to taking the test with 911 because they don't use the same routes and testing locations that they use in the instructive drives, with the exception of the parallel parking.

Fantastic experience: The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. We really appreciated that the instructors we're either retired or active police officers. Both myself and my son absolutely recommend 911 Driving School to first time drivers.

Negative experience: Front office tells you different information than instructors do. Zero coordination ....and office not helpful. Make sure your kid has lots of driving experience before you enroll them (Don't listen to what people in front office tell you) Very frustrating experience with them

Fantastic experience: Everyone here is super fun to drive with, and they're fun to talk to. I love these men and women for helping me get my license. I also want to give a shout out to Officer Josh Pool because he is super chill and funny.

Negative experience: While I think the driving class and the police officers are wonderful teaching my daughter how to drive, they charge $50 to take the driving test, which is fine, but then if you fail, you pay $50 every time to retake it until you pass! How many students actually fail the drive test the first time and have to pay $50 again so that this company makes more money? It’s absolutely wrong.

Fantastic experience: Best Driving School All the officers my son drove with were dedicated to his success as a good driver. While the officers can be intimidating, they were all very nice and taught him the skills he needed to pass the road test.

Fantastic experience: Our daughter had a wonderful experience at 911 Driving School. In her words, the instructors were tough but really broke everything down into simple to remember steps. They were patient and encouraging to her which helped boost her confidence. She drove with Josh and with Elijah and both were fantastic. We also received great customer service. The staff was always very friendly and welcoming. When one of our drives had to be cancelled because the instructor was sick, they contacted us immediately and worked very hard to get things rearranged to accommodate our schedule so that the cancellation didn't inconvenience us or mess up our testing timeline. They even gave Abigail a pep talk before her test. Overall, an incredible experience.

Fantastic experience: Excellent. We recently relocated from out of state and the instructors were professional, informative and yet personal enough to make us feel like they had a sincere interest in my son and helping him become a safe driver. Will be sending my next child to them as well. Josh Poole was great in relating to a teenager while keeping it very real. Thanks everyone!!

Fantastic experience: My son, Chris, had an AMAZING experience at 911. Ed Leonard was his driving instructor and test administrator. He was strict and stern but understanding and nurturing at the same time. When we were in a pinch for time Ed even added time to his schedule for Chris. That is unprecedented! My experience with the office staff was exceptional as well; especially with Lori who took the time to find the right fit for Chris when it came to an instructor. Thank you 911! We will definitely be back in about a year with our daughter!

Fantastic experience: I took the 4 point defensive driving course here. It was a great experience. I learned a lot and I'm now a more cautious driver. My instructor, Elijah, was very entertaining and the course did not feel like a course. More like a study session with friends. I would highly recommend this place for driving classes. They are great.

The instructors are excellent and are able to provide feedback in a positive and constructive manner. It is clear that they all care very much about what they do. They are committed to training teens to be knowledgeable and safe drivers. As far as our specific instructor, Ed, I can’t say enough good things about him. He was so professional and committed to helping my daughters learn the necessary skills to drive. He was a great instructor providing specific and necessary feedback while expressing complete confidence in their ability to master these skills. I can’t thank him enough. Thanks 911!

Positive experience: The classroom instructor was patient and knowledgeable. Mary, the receptionist was rude with poor customer service. Make sure you complete all road sessions within the 6mo or they're going to charge you a $75 fee to complete the course.

The instructors are always helpful; if you don't understand something, they will correct you and make you repeat it until you are confident in your ability to complete that part of the road test. I especially enjoyed my last drive. My instructor, Mr. Charles Carter, not only made sure I knew how to do everything, but he also made the drive fun with his positive attitude. I feel much more confident driving after going to 911!

Fantastic experience: I must say, this is an absolutely wonderful school. The driving instructors are incredible. They sit next to you and chat with you like you are a friend, and this makes you feel very very relaxed when driving - it's very important to feel comfortable when driving. What you practice is what you get on the road test, so there really are no surprises. I really enjoyed these few sessions and would definitely recommend this school to anyone seeking driving lessons.

Fantastic experience: 911 driving school lead a defensive driving and bus safety operation course for my drivers at Johns Island Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. They did a phenomenal job and greeted the drivers outside with enthusiasm. I would highly recommend them as a business and personal driving resource.

I just recently graduated their program, and have thoroughly appreciated the process along the way. Fantastic experience: Great school! I took a private driving lesson here. Officer Simpson was my instructor he is very professional and patient, he helped me to gain confidence on the roads and also be a safe a driver. I highly recommend this school!

Negative experience: Sent my son there a year ago, Terrible experience here. Different instructor each time, different car each time, tons of paperwork and they don't pick up or drop off at your house like their competition. Of the four he drove with, only one was a great instructor capable of turning off "police mode" and deal with him like an instructor. Do yourself a favor and go to the one taught by teachers not police officers

Fantastic experience: The classroom portion was exciting and informative because we discussed why safe driving is important in addition to how to drive safely. During the driving portions, I felt safe with each of my instructors and was able to utilize and refine the skills I learned each time I came back. The instructors were each able to teach the skills required to pass the driving test.
