Hi Robert, it looks like you passed your driving test with us about three weeks ago (on the first try, nice!). Can you help us out by expanding on your experience?
Negative experience: I went to study at this driving school, paid $600 for tuition. After I went through the entire course, I went to take the written test, paid $25. I had an important day, I didn't pass this test and it seemed to me that they failed me, because the questions they showed me that I didn't do correctly, I was 100% sure that I did them correctly. I went there with my dad to find out if they evaluated me fairly and correctly, we talked with them for a long time, they brought me to tears because they were not honest and fair with me. A week later I dared to go take the test again, they registered me for the test on Friday. Dad picked me up from an important event because it was already time to go to the test. We got there, but they told me that I can't take the test in them, they said that I don't have the right to take the test in them because of the situation that happened that time. I visited 3 different driving schools after passing my test, I spent a lot of my time on it. I do not recommend taking the test in them. They overwhelm everyone who does not speak English, there were 3 of us on the test and we all failed.
Hi Vitalina, you didn’t pass the state knowledge test on your first try, which is unfortunately very common. Statewide, the passing rate is below 50% on the first attempt. We have a guide to help you pass, but not everyone reads it: https://www.i5driving.com/prepare-for-the-written-test After the test, however, you and your father spent about 30 minutes trying to intimidate the office staff by accusing them of cheating you, reaching around the desk to try and grab the test, and threatening to sue the staff. We reviewed the video from the incident, found that you violated our civility policy, and you were prohibited from testing with us in the future. We are not permitted to show you the test questions or your answer sheet under any circumstances. This is not a school policy, but is the state DOL policy. This was all explained to you (in Russian, by our Russian-speaking instructor). Any place that you take the test will have the same policies. We wish you the best and hope you pass on the next try. But please, read the guide and the page numbers we gave you after the first attempt.

Здивувало те що у всіх слов'ян хто здавав з нами було дев'ять помилок. Також чув що люди здавали по три , чотири рази. Пішов в іншу автошколу де можна здавати на комп'ютері, здав з першого разу. Hi, we offer the knowledge test on computer and paper (there are 9 computers available at this location). Our location is one of the few that offer both options. Reading your review, it does sound like we need to communicate this better. Very few people choose the computer though, because you aren’t able to skip around, correct an answer later, or be given the page numbers for the questions you answered incorrectly. Most people who don’t pass the test usually miss between 9 and 12 questions. We have a page on our website devoted to assisting folks so they can pass the first time.

Negative experience: There's one guy there who is rude and puts his dog in the car with him doesn't care if you're allergic to dogs and it's not a service dog and he also puts his dog in the grocery cart when he goes to the store where people put their food there's a I-5 driving school near maple valley which is a whole lot nicer
If this had been a completely honest review, it would have read something like, "I saw this guy at the Fred Meyer in Auburn, and he brought his dog into the store. I didn't like that, so I followed him around the store complaining, then took photos of him when he went to his car. He happened to be in a driving school car, so I'm leaving a 1-star review with the school and he hopefully gets in trouble". We do have one instructor who will occasionally have a dog (Arnie) with him on Saturdays. He only brings Arnie if the customer approves, only for driving lessons, and only on Saturdays. We’ll always reschedule, reassign, or leave Arnie at the office if the student driver doesn’t want him there. We also occasionally have a dog at the Federal Way location (Duke), because his emotional support human works at the desk and he panics when left alone for more than 20 minutes. Duke typically stays under the desk for all 8 hours, but will come out for water and outside break times. In all, we are people-friendly and dog-friendly at all three locations. If you ever have to visit one of them, I think you'll see that firsthand.

Negative experience: My daughter recently went here for a class and was met with an extremely rude driving instructor. She described the teacher as being very short in temper and inappropriately rude. For the money I am putting into enrolling my child here I think this behavior is extremely unacceptable. I can't possibly comprehend why nor how there is a very apparent lack of structure among teachers to coaching their students. I wish I honestly would have went to a different driving school had I known my daughter would've been this upset. Truly disappointing.
Ms. Wells, when we hire driving instructors, we primarily look for two qualities; to be friendly, and to genuinely want to help others. If an instructor later turns out to be grouchy or rude, they are let go and sometimes end up at other driving schools. We don't tolerate rude behavior, and if this situation occurred, we'll review the video and take immediate action. If the incident you described happened in a live classroom in the past 365 days, we can review it. Most of the 2020 online courses are also recorded and archived. However, in your case, this appears to be a simple revenge review for not passing the driving test. Lillyen was a student back in November 2020, missed a handful of classes, and never actually showed up to a driving lesson (or bothered to cancel them). She also didn't show up to three state knowledge test appointments with us, but did make it to two state driving tests. We're disappointed that she didn't pass the tests, but she has some pretty critical errors to work on, such as scanning an intersection before turning, and looking in the direction the car is moving. Your mother complained about the driving test fee (which is the cheapest in south King County), and we referred her to the Department of Licensing for an even cheaper driving test. I hope Lillyen will review the tip sheets we gave her and watch the videos for tips on how to pass. She can do it with your help and encouragement, but blaming us for the test result is misguided and will perpetuate her difficulties in passing.

Fantastic experience: This place has really good customer service, they’re fast in their response and really friendly. I booked my driving test with just a simple phone call to them and a few days before they sent me a reminder.I went in for my appointment and did my test. The instructor was good and made me feel calm. I passed and he went through the mistakes I’d made, after our test.

Negative experience: After requesting clarity on billing and costs(paid), and receiving several prices in response, I questioned the validity of the response but decided to continue with their service so my son would be able to attend the October course he’d been registered for since May . Instead of offering clarity, Ryan threw a temper tantrum, stating he would refund my money that day because I accused him of being dishonest, and proceeded to boot my son from the class when he logged in. Blocking him from being able to rejoin. Very upsetting and ridiculous thing to do to a teenager. I called the number provided in email and inquired about who else I could speak to. I was told they all had managerial capabilities there but she would speak to Ryan. I never heard back from her. After reading the reviews it’s clear that Ryan is the owner and manager and has a history of this behavior and blaming the customer for his erratic treatment of students. One also can’t help but recognize the demographics of those customers. I did not receive the refund immediately, as Ryan stated, but did get it a couple days later after a follow up. I also requested to no longer be contacted however the keep cc’ing me in emails regarding this course and the exams, childishly. The owner clearly has a pattern of trying to accuse the customer of being rude and uncivil, I drew this to his attention since he was the one needing a revisit on that lesson with his level of reactivity to a critique. There is a difference between being rude and uncivil and being disagreeable about providing conflicting information. I attest to the validity of previous negative comments and recommend another driving school on Auburn instead.
Hi Ms. Hurt, as I tried to explain to you over several emails, the price for the October 11th class is $579. Once a class is announced, we assign a price to it, and the price never, ever changes. I think the difficulty came from you remembering the price of classes earlier this year, which were $549. The last class that was $549 took place in May 2022, but it was already full when you registered for the October class. Everyone in the October 2022 class paid $579 to join it, and we were even willing to show you the transaction receipts. Changing the price after someone registered for the class would be completely unethical, and we have never done that. Even after explaining this to you, your demands that we give you the old price crossed a line when you accused us of cheating you, lying about it, then expressing your extreme dissatisfaction. The decision was made to give you a full refund, so you can attend a different driving school. It's disappointing certainly, but we didn't see a good alternative. Be sure to check the policies of the next school you choose, as many of them have goofy fees for missing a class, or not bringing a pencil.
Fantastic experience: I recently had a test on Tuesday, Oct. 18th (Passed), and LET ME TELL YOU ALL! 1000% recommend! Yes, three zeros! The man who instructed me was an absolute legend! Even when I was having trouble with driving, he managed to help me out a lot during the exam by telling me tricks while driving, which is something that I appreciate! What a nice man! Even when I was scared to death with my foot shaking on the pedals, he still didn’t mark me down because he understood I was nervous. Even after I passed my test, he gave me tips and tricks on what I missed so I can work better on correcting, and he gave me compliments on my driving ability such as my parallel parking! He said it was perfect! This in which is something many people won’t get from other places, but many will really appreciate. My mistakes were mainly just a wide left turn and the vision through the rear window. In which, I managed to not do, so that was fair. I just want to thank you guys so much for your service! The man who instructed me was a blessing! I truly appreciate him! I’m posting this comment because people need to learn how to understand one another, and this place is exactly where they are and meant to be welcomed! I honestly forgot his name, but if you read this, bless you with all my heart!

We try hard to remember how nervous we all were during our first driving tests, and try to keep it a mellow experience (as much as it can be!). Staying relaxed, not hurrying, and not worrying about every point is probably the best advice we can offer for the driving test. Thank you again!

Fantastic experience: These guys were awesome ! I was incredibly nervous, but the instructor really helped me feel comfortable. Heres some tips: when you're stopping behind a vehicle, make sure you can see their tires, but not the road underneath them. Don't stop completely at the roundabout. Following distance should be 4 seconds at all times while moving. Parallel parking, and backing around a corner don't matter as much as you think they do. Just do your best, and practice when you can prior to testing.

Fantastic experience: Hello I just had a question at the moment, I see your available classes are full until September 6th, that’s a while and wouldn’t want to wait that long to get started,I also have a disability, it’s harder to use my legs so I need adjustments, the person/company that is going to help me with choosing and installing them said all they need is a permit, could I just take the knowledge/written test and later come back for the classes in September, because I’d like to get my license not just a permit. Fantastic experience: I came here to take my driving test, and they did a great job of making the process easy to schedule the appointment, understand the directions before and during the test, and when I unfortunately failed my first try the instructor let me know what to work on. Luckily on my second try I passed! The test is straightforward and I appreciated the professionalism and agreeableness of the staff here. Highly recommend!

We'd like to review the video and speak to the staff that interacted with you to see what happened. We don't tolerate grouchy staff or examiners. We did have to list you as "prepay" for future tests, as you didn't show up to three appointments. Most schools make you prepay for all tests, but we don't charge for tests until you arrive. If you miss too many appointments, we do ask that you prepay for future ones.

Hi George, that is a very serious accusation, and we’d like to investigate this. We can review the video and speak to the persons you interacted with, but we can’t find a customer named George Bannie, or even a George who has taken a test with us in the past 3 months. This will be easier to investigate while there is still video we can review. We can eliminate racism by discovering it, shining a light on it, and removing bad actors. However, we need your help. Fantastic experience: I had a bad experience at another place that was a school and no matter how many times I practiced I was never going to pass the driving test. after failing a couple times i went to the reviews of the school and it said that they just wanted your money and didn't care about improving your skills as a driver. That's when I found this place and the reviews was amazing that I just had to try this place out and the cost for the drive is way cheaper than other places. I went in and did my best practicing safe driving and I passed first time being here. Even after the test , you guys tell me what I can improve on to make me a better driver and I appreciate that. Thank you guys so much. this means so much to me. I WILL RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO EVERYONE!
Negative experience: i do not recommend. They just find simple reason to fail you so you keep paying. Very unreasonable. I will never recommend this place to any of my friends/relatives
Hi Myrna, I’m sorry you weren’t satisfied with us. Unfortunately, when you drive with 2 wheels up on the sidewalk, it is an automatic disqualification on the driving test. You can put one tire up on the sidewalk (4-point penalty), but two tires on the sidewalk ends the test. We try everything we are allowed to do to help you pass the driving test, but we have to score the test the same as everyone else. Looking at the rest of your test, you did quite well, and should pass your next driving test easily. We recommend staying a little further away from the curb during the backing maneuver (but be sure to stay on your side of the road). The driving test has 119 possible penalties and 15 automatic disqualifications, so it can be tricky, but it’s not too difficult, and we are always happy to help. We’ll donate your fee to the Union Gospel Mission in your name, and if you decide to take the driving test again, be sure to go to our website at www.i5driving.com/videos for our best tips to passing the test.
Fantastic experience: Went in at 1030 got me in a car that had a scooby doo skin on it.did my test,went well. The person testing me was very nice. She told me were i need to improve without insulting me. it was fairly cheap to use there car. 5 stars would go again if it was necessary lol.

Hi Amir, I'm sorry you had such a bad experience with us. However, you don't appear to have been a customer here; did you accompany someone who came in for a license test? Maybe that person didn't pass a knowledge or driving test? It's frustrating to not pass, for sure, but our entire mission is to help everyone get their driver's license. We'll help you with page numbers to study, show you the videos for the driving test, and always give our best tips and advice to pass easily (at no charge). We also charge a lot less than other schools for the test, and if your friend was dissatisfied, we're happy to refund them, retest at no charge, or donate the $25 to charity. Just let us know!

Fantastic experience: My daughter enjoyed the class and it went very smoothly from both her perspective and mine, as a parent. She really liked the instructor and his humor seemed to make her more confident. They were very flexible with her work and school schedules. They also offer the written and final driving test there as well. I would highly recommend this school.

Negative experience: My first test I failed legitimately due to a couple of reasons, however the second time I was failed due to a completely unreasonable reason. I was still in the intersection while making a left turn and the light turned red, apparently to the instructor this was ilegal. However I looked in public law resources online with the official laws in washington state and nowhere does it say that if you are still in the intersection while the light is red you broke the law, in fact it says other people must wait for you to clear the intersection if you entered legally (Which I did I entered during a green or yellow light). I contacted the school by email about this wanting a better explanation (which they said they were given extra rules by the DOL to abide by which are not even the law) and or a refund, which they offered a refund however after giving them my address I have yet to receive the refund after 3 months.
Hi Ryan, we had a pretty lengthy email exchange regarding your driving exam, and we did our best to explain to you how your disqualification was scored. The rules given to us by the Department of Licensing state that if the examiner sees the light turn red while you are in the intersection, it is to be scored as an automatic disqualification, and the test is over. We are told to return to the school and let you know why it is scored that way (which we did). I agree with you that it doesn't seem fair, since it's not technically a violation of the law. If it were up to me, I would change a lot of things about the driving test, and your disqualification reason would not be an automatic fail. Many of the penalty points on the driving test are also related to safety (such as driving with one hand), and those that can cause traffic congestion (such as driving 6mph under the speed limit). They are not violations of the law, but are related to general driving safety and preventing unnecessary traffic jams. Unfortunately, how the test is scored is not in our power, and we don't have a choice in whether to enforce it or not. We do our best to fully explain how to pass the test, including diagrams, videos, and the best advice we can give, but we have to score the test exactly how we are told to do so, whether we agree with it or not. If you feel you weren't treated fairly, please contact the Department of Licensing at 360-664-6692 to inquire about your particular case. They will likely tell you the same thing, since we receive our instructions from the same people, but it might make you feel better to hear it from our superiors. We are always happy to answer any questions you may have about your driving test results, and how to pass your next driving test.
