The Next Street - Avon

Fantastic experience: The next street in Avon is a phenomenal driving school with outstanding staff and instructors. They’re the perfect team to help you learn how to drive.

Fantastic experience: Katrina Strong is a phenomenal instructor. Her instructions are so clear and helpful, and she adjusts her explanations/approach if you're ever confused. She's calm and collected but also warm, and creates the best atmosphere for learning such a complicated and sometimes anxiety inducing skill like driving. Thanks Katrina and the next street team!

Fantastic experience: It was great thank you for the lessons

Negative experience: Zoom class gets kicked out instructor wont let u back in even though u were in This is unacceptable as we scheduled time and teacher was not even teaching We tried to get back in and she wouldn’t let us back. Crazy its zoom tech and dropped off should be accounted and acceptable for a few minutes

Fantastic experience: Bob is a great person to deal with and makes the day of the road test super easy. The DMV person we dealt with for the road test was rude and a jerk but Bob made up for him.

Negative experience: Dropped of my daughter to her first driving lesson at this business. As my daughter was getting into the instructing vehicle, the instructor yelled, "Stop! Stop! Stop! Where's your mask?". We replied, "We're sorry, we didn't realize masks were still a thing". The instructor responded, "Well, Covid is still a thing, so masks are too. You should always carry a mask". What authority does NextStreet have to tell people that they should always carry a mask? Why does bringing my daughter to driving school need to turn into this?

Negative experience: First I would like to save you the hassle of reading this review and say, STAY AWAY from this business, if you can even call it that. They took our money for an "accelerated course" and stated that we would have a local instructor in Enfield or Suffield after her online courses are completed. The online courses were not run properly as instructors could not access their OWN Zoom calls and we had to reschedule multiple times on their own schedule. We then got past the nightmare of online learning to in person driving. After calling weeks and weeks we were able to book one lesson. Now all lessons are booked up locally however conveniently they have dozens of open appointments everywhere but local. I did not sign up to drive my child over an hour away for lessons. I then requested management to speak to and have never heard back from them. They simply stated someone would call me back, and after my latest call (today) I was advised to expect a call by next Wednesday. This business is a legit joke and should be avoided by everyone if possible. I am at a loss for words at how poorly run it is, how horrible their follow through is, along with everything else they have to offer. Just tell your kids to wait the extra two months and teach them yourselves, as you will end up doing it anyway based on their scheduling. Credit card dispute incoming and I would love to challenge them in court for services rendered if they try to dispute my credit card complaint. 0 stars if it was an option.

Negative experience: As a parent of a student driver, the teacher at the Avon location is not professional as a teacher. She blamed the parents for not teaching the students "enough" (We didn't go to busier roads to train the child as his skill was not up to the level yet). This approach of teaching caused arguments among parents and child, and goes against the purpose of having other people to train the child how to drive. Please, never blame the parents, because you're the teacher - parents count on you to teach the student driver, not blaming their parents.

Negative experience: Their instructors need to be much more aware of their surroundings. I understand student drivers need to be defensive and cautious but when they are driving 15 to 20 miles an hour below the speed limit with a line of literally 50 cars behind them, their instructors need to be situationally aware to ensure their students are not causing hazards to other drivers.

Fantastic experience: The instructor, Douglas, was very kind and a good teacher. He helped me feel more confident on the road and the classes are 2 hours long so I always had more than enough time to practice. Next street also takes notes on your performance every class so you can see what you need to improve. I highly recommend Next Street

Positive experience: Ill change my review. Even though it was very hard to obtain the certificate because it is hard to reach anyone, once I did reach a lady she made sure to stay on the phone with me until the certificate was recieved in my email. So for that I changed the review.

Fantastic experience: Sarah Heywood kept the class entertained yet informed by creating fun games to help us remember information we would need to pass our driving test. She was very flexible and positive.

Fantastic experience: I took the 30 hour course at Simsbury High with Jess. It was full of very good information that I would never of learned without this course. It's also pretty nice because the 30 hour makes insurance less expensive and also lets you take the test earlier. 10/10 would recommend

Fantastic experience: Super fun class! I took the 30 hour course and the 4 hours flew by with Jessica Ortiz! She was so funny and made learning about driving fun! I would totally recommend! I took my course at Simsbury Highschool.

If I could I would give 10/5 stars but seeing that that's not possible I'll give it 5 stars. Met new people including my long lost cousin Magus which was kinda dope. Ps always drop tilted towers in fortnite for a phat dub. By the way hit that subscribe button and smash the like button. Overall great class

Fantastic experience: I started in wolcott where my instructor only talked about car accidents and her own road rage. We then watched fast and furious which I found very unhelpful. I ended up switching to Avon where I had Nichole hogan as an instructor. She was super nice and taught us a lot. She's great! I passed my license test today!

Fantastic experience: I had a great class experience with Nicole Hogan. Made the 4 hour excelerated class much more fun. Would reccomend the 30 hour class because of its benefits.

Fantastic experience: Teacher is a great guy. Quite comical. Mr. Binghi makes class fun. Every time I step out of the building, my heart aches for 9:00 AM Saturday morning, when I can walk back through the doors to another session of drivers ed. Without The Next Street Avon, I don't know where I would be in life.

Fantastic experience: The school is very professional. From my first phone conversation, to in person interactions with staff, the driving instructor (Brittany) everyone was so nice, polite and friendly. It helped so much, these kids come in scared, it's a big deal to them, but even bigger to us moms. On the day of the driving test we were asked to come in a bit earlier prior to the test, turned out one of the employees was giving my daughter a calm or "chill out moment". He said don't worry you got this, just follow the rules, watch your speed, he comforted her, cheered her and gave a a high five before she walked away. She passed!!!! But, even if she failed I still would recommend this school to everyone.

Negative experience: I attended classes at granby high school and my instructor, steve taught my class terribly. On the last day of the 15 day course we had a replacement istructor and in that time i learned more than the 14 days taught by steve. Because of this i learned almost nothing from these classes. I give this 2 stars because i think my experience was just due to getting a bad teacher, not the next street as a whole.

Positive experience: Had a decent learning experience. Some important information was not taught in class however

Negative experience: I had a teacher who didn't teach me much of anything. He told us about how people died in car crashes every class. That's about it. My teacher was Steve. He really taught us nothing. We had a different teacher the last day, and she taught me pretty much everything I was tested on for that test.

Positive experience: I was in the granby location, my teach was Steve and he didn't teach us much at all. But we did learn some things that helped me as a driver.

Fantastic experience: I enjoyed The Next Street Driving experience so much. I had the pleasure to attend classes with instructor, Henry Binghi and he made the class exceptionally fun. Not only did he teach from the book, he also showed us videos that expanded our understanding of each topic. If you can't go to his classes, I highly recommend him for a driving instructor. As a terrified driver, he makes everything simple and stress free! Overall, this program is great
