They will prepare you for everything; you will be in class knowing nothing too, being an expert in full pre inspection, driving manurers, parallel parking. You will not regret it! Ps. The instructors here are all top notch and very patient with new drivers. They do not get annoyed if you ask questions and they make sure you are prepared for the road test. Fantastic experience: This school is amazing Kris and mario are the best teachers ever, I am glad I got assigned to this school by red hook on the road they taught me everything I needed to know to be prepared for my road test, I ended up passing on my first try and I can now say that I am officially a class b cdl driver with p and s endorsement, they make you feel confident and I felt very comfortable with the teachers, all you have to do is really focus and listen to what they are teaching you thank you again

Negative experience: I took driving lessons with Northside in late 2023 and the reason for my low rating has mainly to do with what happened the day of my road test. I was told to be outside the school at 7:45am at which time my instructor would pick me up to take me to the test site. He was 45 minutes late. This was a freezing cold winter day and I was standing outside for 45 minutes not knowing whether he had forgotten about me. The office was not open at that hour so I could not call to check. I had woken up that morning feeling confident and almost excited to take the road test, but with each minute that passed after 7:45, I grew more and more anxious. Needless to say this was NOT a helpful state of mind to be in going into the road test. When my instructor finally arrived and I told him I had been worried he wasn’t coming, he very nonchalantly said he must’ve gotten the time wrong; he thought he was supposed to pick me up at 8:30. He said “sorry” so casually it was as if he had bumped into me while passing me on the street. Maybe this mix-up was the office’s fault, not his, but his total lack of concern put me into an even worse mental state and I felt more anxious than ever. When we finally got to the test site and he saw me off, he didn’t have a word to say to me. Not so much as a “good luck.” It was so obvious that he truly didn’t care whether I passed or failed; he was just there collecting a paycheck. I failed the test miserably and while I can’t blame that solely on my instructor, his actions certainly did nothing to set me up for success that morning. After failing the test, I signed up for more lessons with a different school and the difference in the attitude of the instructor was like night and day; he was so much more friendly and positive and made me feel so much more confident going into the test, which I then passed on my next try. Taking lessons with this other school also made me realize that separate from what happened the day of the road test, Northside really hadn’t prepared me as well as they could have.

Fantastic experience: From the office personnel to the instructor, everyone has been nothing but polite, accommodating, hospitable, and understanding. As a first time driver, I was made comfortable and taught with patience and ease. I took 11 classes because I doubted myself, but Mark was a great instructor and kept encouraging me each lesson. I successfully passed the car road test on my first try (and on a rainy morning nonetheless the less :)) I highly recommend this driving school if you are learning to drive for the first time or need anything for your driving experiences.

The instructors were great, always explained what you had to do and how to pass your road test! I had a fantastic experience! Highly recommend! I passed my road test in September and the test felt like a breeze because of all the great practice I got from Adrian and Mark!!!!

Negative experience: I went in to learn how to drive a class A vehicle (class A Tractor Trailer) the receptionist was nice, however at the practice site I did not feel welcomed by my instructor (John) and was rejected service. I guess he made a mistake with having me on his schedule. I ignored that. The first lesson was decent let me drive for about 45 minutes. John told me he cannot teach me much in one hour and I should pay for two hours, or pay for the 10 package deal. So I paid and scheduled for a 2 hour session. The day before the session I got a call from North side asking if I’m able to switch my 8am session to 12pm. I declined. Next day I arrived for the session which should be two hours. John was a tad late; again not a warm welcome. He started the truck and at about 810am he told me to get in the truck and I drive to a site to practice the two maneuvers. To me That went fine at 940am John stopped me and said he had to drive the truck back and park it. I was annoyed by this because I paid for two hours and got a hour and a half. He could at least let me drive the 8 minutes it took to get back to the meet up point as more practice.

Negative experience: My experience with Northside unfortunately was not met with satisfaction. My Trainor Kris did not properly prepare me or my other 3 cohorts to PASS. It was definitely due to my Trainor being a minimalist & proud to do the absolute minimum at all times. After 19 yrs working at Northside, Kris has grown content with showing up not doing much of anything to teach. He would introduce the material for a day or 2, then the rest was on us. He barks demands to repeat after him whether we understand or not. My Cohorts & I, were given a 12 page document to memorize and told to forget everything else we have learned, don't watch videos, or listen to anyone else. So we failed of course. One of his famous replies are... "Don't worry about it, don't worry about it!" for majority of our questions we had for him. Luckily my Cohorts are supportive students who exchanged #'s and helped each other as we gathered all the additional information needed to pass on our own, along with DMV Instructors tips which also came right out the manual we were told to ignore. I would say my Trainor checked out on us but he never actually checked in. He spent 85% of our time disconnected from us, in his own space. For example, after failing our 1st road test with DMV, we're shown & allowed to practice Railroad Crossing, Loading & Unloading, and Stop-Start for the 1st time on the day prior to our 2nd scheduled road test... We were all so pissed. This neglect and lazy minimal tactics must be changed just as the CDL requirements have changed since ONLY 2020. Information given to us was outdated, and some info did not apply at all. This was an independent study project. The team inside the office at Northside is absolutely great. They go above and beyond administratively. Definitely a solid team within the office.

Fantastic experience: They helped me a lot to get my driver's license. They immediately found a day for the road test. If you have a road test, definitely take a driving lesson, do not leave your job to chance, they teach everything you need to pay attention to.

Positive experience: They did okay.. not very good at explaining things and have very little patience but I did manage to pass after 5 classes even though i was doubted by the driving trainer right before the road test. I personally think it was my own ability to study and my own driving skills that I passed.

Let me explain: I've 22 driving experience in Europe, but here in New York I tried 2 times without any success. After I decided to have one lesson here to understood what's going wrong with my driving. The instructor on black Nissan Sentra gave really good lesson for me and after I passed my practical test without any inconvenience. I recommend this school and that instructor.

I passed my test and it was due to the patience, expertise and professionalism of Mario. Negative experience: One of their cars almost hit me while I was crossing the street in Ridgewood today. The driver was an older man with a mustache next to a younger woman. I understand that drivers are learning but instead of apologizing or showing concern they were giggling inside the car.

I asked for a different instructor and they refused to give me somebody different so I put down the full amount of money I had no choice but to work with him and he is the worst when it comes to class A training

Negative experience: My third lesson with the instructor (the guy with mustache)was a nightmare. I came home in tears. I am writing this review still in tears.Lets start with the fact that i am not the best driver but thats the reason why i go to a driving school and pay them.My first 2 lessons with Mark and another guy (sorry i dont remember his name)were really really good. They were very professional and make me feel relaxed in the car and not nervous at all.This one was not professional at all.The way he was talking was rude all the time.It got to a certain point that i told him to stop talking cause he was making me nervous at the point where i couldn't even know left or right. So if you get nervous like me in the car please make sure to ask for someone else and not the guy with the mustache.

Negative experience: Lazy instructors, just tell you to drive without giving you any feedback. One of the instructors hit the break and challenged the guy behind us to a fight in the middle of the road. . I don’t want nobody to lose their job but the school is horrible. Sorry but I got to be honest.

I had a great experience with them they help you work on your driving skills and help you to fix and correct your errors. I also passed my driving test with them highly recommend them.
