Fantastic experience: I passed my driving test today all thanks to my driver instructor Teresa she really did a good job on teaching me to all the details that I need to improve on my driving and all the tips that makes my driving easier. I would recommend her to anyone and also to my friends who wants to get a lessons before taking a test. Teresa really helped me and I learned a lot from her to be safer driver.thank you:)

Negative experience: Absolutely the biggest ripoff in the State. I was refused my test results. And received a hand written illiterate note from the owner. And they don’t speak Spanish.

Negative experience: Elizabeth/driver instructor is not capable to do driver testing, has an actitude problem, gets annoyed with everything... tests are not free, she can at least explain things... don't book with her!!! Save yourself the money and bad moment

Fantastic experience: The instructor Louise was great. You always get a live person when you call there and setting an appointment is super easy. I called this morning had an appointment this evening and I passed! From start to finish this was an overall excellent experience. I highly recommend Monroe's for your driver licensing needs.

Negative experience: Only giving two stars because drive test with Betsy was horrible but drive lessons with Tom were very good. He is friendly, considerate and professional. Betsy is quite the opposite!

Negative experience: DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE!!!!!!!! My written test was handled professionally and well by a lady who I can't remember her name.. However, my driving instruction and subsequent road test was the worst courtesy of Betsy.. if giving instruction is through screaming at someone in a military style manner and passing through it as fast as she could to get over and done with it then that's just unfortunate. It's Unfortunate that the company sorts to steal people's money by having them fail the first road test and ask them to pay again for an instruction test plus another road test. I'm seeing the negative reviews after my experience and i can only wosh i had read them earlier. I would advise anyone who reads this looking to test here to go somewhere else you'll save yourself money and the frustration of possibly dealing with Betsy.

Fantastic experience: THE BEST... the written test was what I expected..no surprises. The drivers test was a bit nervous wracking, but the tester instantly made me feel completely relaxed.. Thanks you guys... highly recommend

Negative experience: Whoever answered the phone today was very rude. She didn't answer a single question I had and actually hung up on me in the middle of me speaking. I certainly will not be doing business with them.

Negative experience: What a scam. If you’re going to run a business you have to register your number so it doesn’t come up as a scam call. Not to mention that the forcing of us to license is constitutionally illegal. So is your job.

Negative experience: I can only assume my drive instructor was Betsy based off of other reviews relating to the behavior of my instructor. She was so incredibly rude and condescending going from not even able to small talk when taking my details off my id card to explaining something simple to me to scoffing at me and making faces at me while I'm trying to drive their extremely touchy car that they don't offer you to get to know at all before the drive test which i assumed was a given since they near force you to use their cars. She gave me no time at all to prepare for a turn or lane merge by giving me maybe 5 seconds to swap lanes check mirrors blinkers and slow down nearly instructing me to rear end a suv advising i get into a left turn lane. Mocking me for not knowing hand signs which i assume were used for bikes only and not thinking it was the safest idea to sit in the middle of the road at a left turn only lane. Honestly just astonished that she has had such negative reviews over and over yet continues to work there with what seems no repercussions as well as the owner seeming to mock people who leave negative reviews as if they are untouchable since they can rake in money at no risk of their poorly acting employee. Id advise anyone who reads this looking to test here to go somewhere else you'll save yourself money and the frustration of possibly dealing with Betsy.

Negative experience: This place is a joke! They kept my 75$ because my son forgot his ID card! No reschedule option nothing! Just straight took our money!!! Do not go here!!!!

Negative experience: Don't spend money on this place for a test. I took my first test and didn't pass which I had no problem with, but the second test was very annoying. I was taking a turn and a guy was speeding down the hill while was merging and then I was deemed as "not a safe driver" which I assume was true. She requested to go back to the place while consistantly muttering under her breath, which for a word of advice shut up when your driver messed up and explain later, and didn't let me finish my last part of the test when I payed $75 on it. reading the reviews I can see people having the same obnoxious experience with tester's you guys act professional if you're going to work in a public space.

Fantastic experience: I went there to take my permit test in the afternoon and the instructor was extremely helpful !! He also speaks two languages and makes the students feel confident about the test

Fantastic experience: We used Munro's for our 15yo sons driving instruction. The instructor did a very great job carefully explaining things, and he was very respectful and patient in his teaching. He was quick to ensure our son got every thing done that he needed to. Munro's seems to have a great set up and very organized and great communications to make the process as easy as possible! Negative experience: Technology is extremely outdated… if you take your drivers license written test here you have to call up their office to know if you passed or not.

Fantastic experience: My daughter had Geno for her instructor and he did a wonderful job, his class portion was via zoom due to covid but that didn’t stop him from keeping the students on task. I highly recommend Geno if you are able to get him for an instructor!!

Negative experience: DO NOT PAY FOR THIS PLACE. would rate ZERO stars if I could. betsy seriously needs an employee review. i dont care how long someone has been working there it is never okay to be condescending to students while they are taking their driving test. She also failed to properly explain to me what i did wrong leaving both me and my family wondering how to fix it. not to mention her failure to give directions properly and clearly (or even at all). The first test i had ever taken she shouted at me during my test when it was her who failed to give me directions. When we called to inform an employee about the interactions, the receptionist explained that she was 'pressed for time'. COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE! How dare you uphold high standards when your employees cant even make the time to help the students, that is completely unprofessional. Especially in a controlled and stressful environment such as a driver's test. Her comments about my driving were completely innapropriate and out of pocket, calling me a nervous driver. Condescending, rude, not helpful. These are things you do not want in someone when they teach you to drive! Waste of money, hope you guys figure out your business model because this surely isnt it. If you want something worth your time the place across the street will give you what your money's worth.

Positive experience: Our son enjoyed his experience at Munro's. The class room teacher was fun and engaging on zoom and the behind the wheel teacher was calm and clear in her instruction.

My son is not an excellent online student, and he was able to learn alot from his online sessions to pass his tests with flying colors.

Fantastic experience: Our daughter took Driver's Ed through Munros'Driving School during the CO-VID stay home order. They offered the classroom portion through Zoom. This worked out great for her. The teachers were super understanding if we had connection issues. We would send text letting them know if we had to restart the Wi-Fi or restart the computer. Luckily we had minimal connection problems. Stacie Dilulo was her instructor for the driving portion. Once the governor allowed them to do their drives, scheduling was worked on to get the students their drive times. Our daughter enjoyed having Stacie as her instructor and was glad to have the same instructor for all five drives. We were grateful that she was able to drive to Oak Harbor every time for the drives. Our daughter came out of driver's ed more confident and equipped with more drive training added with her drive time with us. Thanks for working out a way to hold driver's ed for these eager teenagers during the social distancing order.

Negative experience: I took the Drivers Ed in Mount Vernon and I learned a lot. Betsy was my teacher and she was really good at explaining things and helping us understand. However she was harsh and intimidating. She lacked respect for any of the students and never let us out on time which was the time I had signed up for. She once told me that since I had packed up (at 5:17) we were all going to wait until I was all unpacked for the class to be dismissed (keep in mind this class lasted from 3:00-5:15). I had packed up two minutes late! And she told me to unpack all my things, so I did respectfully, and once my binder touched the table she said “dismissed”. Also I think that the reason there are so many good reviews might be because of the fact that they give you $10 off your drive test if you give them a positive review, you can see this at the bottom of my letter of completion:

Ive had several experiences with this company, and each time have had to deal with unprofessional behavior that would be unacceptable at any business. Snide remarks during testing, refusal to clarify on statements made even after testing has concluded. Unacceptable of any business transaction. I cant recommend this company to anyone based on my experience or that of my family’s over the past 5 years we have put up with them.

Fantastic experience: Both of my daughters took drivers ed with Munros Driving School, and it was a great experience for both of them. Munros was willing to come to Orcas Island to teach the class, which makes a big difference for us out here. The teachers are awesome (thank you Jeff!!), and know how to get kids to listen and learn. I highly recommend taking driving classes from Munros. Thanks to all of the folks there!

Fantastic experience: Driver's ed is kind of boring, but my teacher, Jake Woiwod, made it fun. I learned a lot and I feel prepared to be able to drive safely. Jake always involved people in class and made sure to keep people engaged. He kept a good balance between learning and laughing.

Negative experience: Not a comment on skill or value....but every year for at least a quarter, one of your cars is parked in a 15 minute parking area at the Orcas Landing for over 48 hours...every week. It may seem like a little thing but the area is incredibly congested and your car doesn't help. To add salt to the wound, you disregard our parking laws while presumably instructing someone's children on lawful and safe driving techniques. Often, you are parked in front of the fire hydrant in a NO PARKING section. I've called and politely commented before and the response was, if you want your kids to have drivers education, you'll have to put up with the parking issue. Might I suggest you use a county parking spot that is off the main road and a similar distance to the ferry? Additionally, you just drove through our private parking lot near Island Hardware (11/12/19 @ 4pm), and did not stop when asked. If you would like to use our private property for instructional purposes, please contact us for permission.

Positive experience: My son recently finished the driving instruction course at Munro's and is prepared to take his driving exam. There was a strong connection between what he learned in the classroom and what he practiced with the driving instructor.

Fantastic experience: My daughter was very hesitant to start Drivers ED, however her teacher (Stacie) was absolutely wonderful!!! The knowledge she received from the class , which she continues to pass on to me every time she drives is amazing. My daughter didn’t want the class to end.

Fantastic experience: I just completed my in-class portion of the course, and felt confident and knowledgeable by the time I took the DOL written test. Betsy was my class instructor, and taught concepts in a memorable way while emphasizing the most important parts of the curriculum. Lucy was my drive instructor, and was always very patient when I made errors. I now feel ready for my drive test!

Negative experience: Mount Vernon location- Classroom portion of instruction is very thorough and well done. Behind the wheel instruction is much too limited, especially for the expense. Additionally, my daughter was reprimanded on her road test for employing strategies she was taught by the school (making a safety stop). Make sure to check out all of your options before signing up here! Lowered my rating to one star after the response below. There are a lot of assumptions in there. Not helpful or professional.

Fantastic experience: We had a great experience with the Mt.Vernon location. My daughter had already taken her written so the class time was just review for her but Scott did her drives and after 5hours with him I have noticed her town driving skill have improved!

Fantastic experience: Barb at the Oak Harbor location is a fantastic driving teacher. Her supervised drives with my daughter taught her so much, and she maintained a low stress environment for learning while emphasizing safety. I am grateful to Barb for giving my daughter such a good start on her driving career.

Negative experience: Didnt have a good experience the last time i went. The first time was with a lady and i loved her! 2nd time I went the old guy marked me down for several things I "did wrong " i was going 35 on college way and he said it was way faster than that. Also when he wanted to me get into the right lane i looked at my blind spot and then proceeded he thought i was going to crash then jerked the car causing my anxiety to hit. Then him REALIZING THE CAR WAS WAY FURTHER THEN HE THOUGHT!!! after i left walking in tears he told me i should get a permit since i cant drive and that i dont know the speed limits.. i recommend a lady not a guy especially not him. He also told me i refused to stop a stop sign when i stopped a little before the line then proceeded to move forward a bit to make sure i was able to see both sides to proceed. My drive didnt even last 20 mins.

Negative experience: Taking the writen test is just for the money. Each time you take it the questions switch so you have to keep paying. Questions are tricks that can have multipul right answers. I suggest going to a different testing service.

Fantastic experience: This was easy to sign up online and they had directions written clearly about what to get done at the DOL before class started. The class was organized and the drives were confirmed in writing and via email reminders. No headache and the instructor had great enthusiasm.

Positive experience: I went to get my permit test here twice and The last time I went to i was extremely confident i would get it right because I studied long and hard. (I don’t have 35$ to throw away for each test) I also met a girl around my age who took the test at least 4 times before and still hasn’t passed ! After the test was done somehow I missed 14 question while that girl missed 13 and when the girl demanded to review her test the lady freaked out on her telling her she didn’t study good enough and that she had problems and told her she couldn’t.(it seemed extremely rude).... From my experience there is no way I could have missed so many when I read the book twice and got an app that lets you practice flash cards, and gives you a test marathon with every question there is. Not being able to review you’re test seems fishy because other places dont have a problem with it. Plus meeting someone who’s concerned about there honesty too really says something.

Positive experience: The driving teacher Andrew was very helpful in teaching me how to back around the curb which is something I had a hard time understanding at first, and how to parallel park as well as shoulder checking. Other staff was very helpful as well.
