First Class Driver - now a part of Coastline Academy

Fantastic experience: This is my first time going in and I felt good I got all the information I needed and Chrissy and Coach K made me so comfortable I will be giving update thank you!!!

Fantastic experience: The office personnel at the Ft. Worth- Bryant Irvin location is amazing. They are the only reason for the 5 stars. With that said since they changes to Coastline you can no longer reach the office. The People in the call center are clueless and rude.

Fantastic experience: Highly recommend! My son went here for the classroom learning, behind the wheel lessons, and the driving test itself. It was a fabulous experience and we loved all of the staff from the front desk to the instructors. Thank you for helping my baby learn the rules of the road!

Negative experience: I didn't want to write a review because I blamed myself for awhile for my experience here because I am a pIus size woman and the women that worked here pretty much blamed me being uncomfortable in their cars but after driving in several small cars and advising them I was not uncomfortable.i felt it was necessary to inform how I was treated . I had a few lessons and my test here . My teacher Bernard was absolutely amazing , patient and had confidence in his students. He was real with me and helped me the most . That confidence is needed especially when you are a new driver and an adult driver . As for the other lady who is a new teacher she does need more improvement because telling your student that they are going to fail after only been on the road for five minutes in a car they have never driven before because they switched cars is ridiculous. For the driving test evaluator... She is absolutely rude. One she needs to know how to speak to adults , I get that most of her students are teenagers but for my experience with her as an adult tester was unprofessional and I was talked too as if I was a child .The first time I met her she took my permit dropped it on the floor and saw that crumbs was on the floor and used my permit card as a dust pan to sweep up the crumbs of the floor and didn't clean my permit but just hand it back to me . She also noticed my permit was good until 2029 and said that I can keep my permit longer (impling if I don't pass the test). As soon as we get in the car to test the car was parked behind her car.... I turned the car on an moved a little and she pretty much threatened me if I had hit her car. As most testers we are mostly nervous and at this time it's raining. The whole time I'm trying to drive she is consistently hitting the passagener break and we havent even left the parking lot . ...I did fail my test and she didn't even give me a score and was vague about what I had missed. I am not upset about failing my test I upset that my experience here was tarnished because the way the women had treated me.

Negative experience: Be careful with this place. My son attended the driving portion only of their drivers ed. They never once took him on the highway. The instructors didn’t even have him drive the full time 3 out of 7 of his drives. We paid and took his drivers test through First Class and when we went to the DPS to get his license they informed us the school has been suspended and he would have to retake his drivers test!! They also said all but one driving instructor was suspended. This place has been bought by someone else now so hope it’s better but what a horrible experience this place has been.

Negative experience: Have taken instructor led-driving classes here. The instructors r great & have taught well. Both Bernie & other lady have given very good commendations to our driving. But for the actual test, the owner (lady) is very very rude. She is very impatient, doesn’t respect ppl, & actually creates rules for herself which were not taught by the instructors. She took all her frustration out on us & failed the test, which is very bad! She’s money minded and sad to have her be the inspector. A BIG NO TO GET UR LICENSE HERE!

Positive experience: I would give 5 stars if it weren't for the person who administered the actual driving test. That was my only negative experience. The staff at First Class Driver is great, front desk was a respectful and cheerful woman. The owner is also a class act. He's the reason why I became a better driver as I did a driving class with him and learned a lot. When it came time to take the test, I chose to do so with First Class Driver but the individual who was there just didn't seem to care and wanted it over with. She wasn't kind and failed me for bad left turns, mind you we didn't take any left turns but one U turn. I ended using a different driving school for the test and passed. I took actual left turns and I knew I could do it were I given a chance. I would highly recommend First Class Driver as an adult and for your child but I would suggest you take your exam at another driving school due to the individual who administered the test. Once again, staff and the owner are great, I can't stress that enough!

Fantastic experience: I just wanted to say that I loved my experience in this school and both the owners. Just to back up a little bit, I have been stationed overseas and I wasn’t able to get my license. I came home to visit and my siblings recommended this school. My family stays about 3 hours away and any nearby schools I called refused to help. I called this school and I was able to schedule a lesson. After my initial lesson, I was able to improve. scheduled another lesson and test. I passed! I can’t be thankful enough for the both of them and their staff is really nice. The prices are reasonable and the test is legit. I recommend going to this school for any new drivers whether they have had experience driving or are new to the road. Thank you to both owners and to their staff for flexibility and a great experience.

Fantastic experience: This place is amazing! The staff is so friendly and helpful. My daughter was so nervous about taking her test after several bad experiences with the DMV. The instructor could tell right away how nervous she was and she was able to put her at ease with her kindness and compassion. We did a practice test first which put her at ease and then the road test. I highly recommend this place it was a wonderful experience!

Negative experience: We went to the DMV and the test results did not count because allegedly First Class Driver was on a suspension. The test costed us over 140 dollars, and the DMV charged us only 11 dollars for the test there.

Fantastic experience: My son took his driving test here and it was a fantastic experience. the scheduling was easy, the visit on time and efficient and the ladies in the office and issuing the test were knowledgeable and kind. I highly recommend having your teen take the driver test here to get their license

Fantastic experience: Would recommend 100% My mother called one day and asked to schedule my driving test and the front lady was amazing she gave us an appointment the next day, and walked us though everything that we would need and answered all our questions that we had. While taking the test the lady was very sweet and patient, which I believe is a great thing since usually when your taking you test your afraid and nervous. Also while taking this test you feel safe they don’t make you do anything crazy and are very calm.

After going to 3 DPS offices , dealing with rude and impatient staff I decided to go ahead and call First class driving to see if I could take my road test with them anytime soon. The sweetest lady on the phone got me in the very next day, where I had the most pleasant experience. Amazing and kind staff who helped calm my nerves and I ended up passing first try! I would highly recommend this place to anyone! Teen or adult, First class driving is the place to go!

Positive experience: They are sweet people. They have tested both my boys. I wish they wouldn’t use the fragrant stuff they have plugged in. It blows right in your face when checking in & It makes my allergies go crazy & I always have to wait outside. But the people there are really sweet & my boys think the old guy that takes them for the test is funny. I would recommend them just wear a mask if you have severe allergies. They are conveniently located also & have a lot of good useful information.

Fantastic experience: SO WORTH IT! I have sent two of my daughters here so far, and I highly recommend it! I decided to sign my daughters up for this in-person instruction after experiencing the STRESS of another online home-taught course. After many new gray hairs from stress, I decided it was worth the money to outsource the lessons and the driving. Best decision ever. (Book early because they fill up!) I wanted my daughters to learn in a structured environment, and I wanted them to learn to drive correctly. I consider this program an investment in the safety of my own children and everyone else on the roads with them. Plus they can learn to drive in the cars that are owned by the driving school! And they can take their drivers test at the school! They make it so easy and tell you exactly what you need when you take your paperwork to the DPS. You can thank me later!!

Negative experience: Had some friends go there to the orientation and it sounds like the lady that is giving the orientation/class is racist. Talked about how immigrants come take class and can't speak english and how they don't understand the class and that they hold up the lines at the DPS because they don't understand what's going on. Very unprofessional in my opinion. You don't mind taking people's money for the class but talk about immigrants that take your class. I would never take my kid there after hearing that.

Negative experience: Horrible experience. One of the owners Bernie yelled and cussed at my daughter because she took a wrong turn. Do NOT send you teenagers here!

Fantastic experience: Great Experience! I went as a student driver for my lesson with the professor and he made me feel comfortable behind the wheel, walked me through the test and the test routes as well as had me practice a couple of times. I came in again for another lesson and the test, everything was about an hour long and during the test, my intructor Mrs. Bernard took me for my drivers test and she made me feel at ease while taking my test. Overall a very comfortable and great experience and i recommend this school for getting your learners permit AND taking the drivers test and drivers intruction lessons! Very professional wonderful people! :)

Negative experience: This place should be called LAST class driving instead. What an unprofessional bunch. They are rude and unhelpful. Run away!

Fantastic experience: Joni was absolutely delightful! Our Ohio DL expired and we had to take the test in order to obtain our Texas DL. She was pleasant, the office was clean and welcoming and she was able to talk us through the process and expectations thoroughly. Her staff are funny and make you feel safe. Thank you! Fantastic experience: I would highly recommend this business's third party driving test service. The appointment, check-in, and post-test paperwork processes were highly organized and efficient. Their staff (especially Ms. Penny) were friendly, welcoming, and professional - and the atmosphere definitely alleviated a lot of the anxiety and stress that I had coming into the office. Mr. (/Coach) K. administered my road test. He shared that he also offers instruction for road test prep - which I definitely sensed as the driving test felt like an experience and coachable moment rather than a solely evaluative one. He sensed my nervousness - and thus lack of confidence - but still held my driving to a high (and safe) standard. He was extra patient and knowledgeable, and I learned more from him in this 20-minute experience than I had did in the long hours leading up to the test.

Negative experience: Lady was very very rude to my brother. He is a great driver and after taking the class and paying $500, the lady would not even let him test, even if he insisted. And for the record, this makes me feel like she really likes Joe Biden and probably moved here from Cali !!! UPDATE: HE PASSED FIRST TRY AT THE DPS LADYYYY!!! YOU ARE bad news and everyone should avoid her. If you ever see her, RUNNNNN... seriously, like fast.

Negative experience: Very unprofessional. I took a behind the wheel course(FOR $500), and while the first 5 sessions went great, the last 2 went horrible. The instructor named Joni would yell at me if I made a small mistake, and then proceeded to make unhelpful jokes. The day I came to take my driving test, she turned us away, claiming that I was not attentive enough while she yelled at me. She became angry about one minor mistake I made-- not turning my head 180 degrees at an intersection when there were clearly no cars coming. The Instructor also called us today claiming that I told her that I wasn't ready for the test when I hadn't said a single word about that to her. Whenever I tried to explain my situation to her, she didn't care and just said go get at least 30 hours in a very very rude tone. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE TO GO THERE!!!! AS A MATTER A FACT RUN AWAY!!!!! To add to this horrible business. I went to burleson driving academy to take my driving test. They are AMAZING, I highly recommend you go visit them. They are very kind. I got a 93/100 and passed very easily after being turned away by Joni. THIS COMPANY DOESNT DESERVE YOUR MONEY FOR ANY REASON.

Fantastic experience: What an amazing business!!! With all of the issues and headaches that come with going to the DMV, you can avoid all of it and deal with amazing people who love there job! The staff at First Class Driver are the nicest most professional people in North Texas. I really mean, the nicest people. Negative experience: After giving this place $860 they failed my daughter twice, the second time the instructor claimed she rolled over a curb which she has never done in the 13+ times that she has practiced that route. She said she didn’t hit the curb and I believe her. She was very distraught and cried for over an hour because he failed her for something she didn't do. They just want more money from us and they're not going to get it! No one here is on the same page, the instructors teach completely opposite of eachother which is very confusing for new drivers. One of the instructors pulled the visor down in front of my daughter so she couldn't see on 2 separate occasions. Do yourself a favor and find a better school with more professional instructors

Fantastic experience: I took my online permit test and the third party test with First Class Driver. Very good experience. Every question was answered with quick response. The 3rd party test was a pleasant experience and I enjoyed the company of the tester. I highly recommend this place. I am very satisfied. I am glad they offer this service to the Fort Worth community.

Negative experience: We scheduled a driving test for my son last week, and he had to come for a retest yesterday since he tapped the fence a bit during the parallel parking. The instructor was kind and explained what happened so we rescheduled. Yesterday he arrived for his retest and this time Joni was the instructor. My son parked perfectly yet she failed him for the driving portion. She said things like he had to wait a full 3 seconds after a complete stop, which isn't even Texas law. She was on her phone the majority of the time. She insulted him by saying it was hard to believe he had ever completed driving school. Today he arrived for another retest. She began by disparaging our vehicle, which is well maintained and up to date on inspection and registration. Once again, she was on her phone most of the time. She also told him he stopped at an improper place at a stop sign and then when he followed her instructions the next time, she contradicted herself and marked him off for doing what she had told him to do the first time. It is clear she never intended to pass him, though he passed all written and road portions at Sears Driving School and has had no incidents while driving with his permit. We will file a formal complaint with the Texas DMV as well as leave appropriate reviews. **EDITED TO ADD: We scheduled a driving test with Austin Driving School for my son last week. The staff were all courteous, the instructor was professional and encouraging, and my son passed his test with a nearly perfect score. It was also cheaper. We will return to ADS for our next 3 drivers!

Negative experience: Honestly I wouldn’t have a complaint about this place if it weren’t for one specific lady. A blonde woman who tested me and multiple of my siblings and friends is extremely unprofessional and unfair. She failed multiple people including myself (years ago) for “not watching the road and mirrors enough”, while she was on her phone or deep in conversation the entire time. She talks nonstop making the drive incredibly stressful. She has enforced rules that are LITERALLY the opposite of instructions given in my driving course and my friends courses. With my sister, she leaned INTO THE DRIVERS VIEW AND SEAT to check the dashboard while they were driving. Pray you do not get tested by her. If you’re trying to make things easier by going to this place, know you’re better off with a state trooper. Understand that while I did fail it was years ago so I am not typing this while the wound is fresh, but I did hear probably the 4th story about this lady and have had enough. Update: My brother took her test and she failed him three times because of him “not looking around enough”. He took the test with a trooper and passed immediately with a good score. Do not waste your time here.

My son did not pass the first time she told us what he did wrong she told us to practice the course some more and then come back and test for $20. When we went back to retest the lady at the front desk went above and beyond to help us.

Fantastic experience: Definitely recommend this place for a driver's test! Both of my kids took their driver’s test here and we had a wonderful relaxed experience. We were recommended to come here 4 years ago when we originally were waiting in line at the DMV. We left and made and appt here and of course it was WAY better than the DMV. Joni is so sweet and informative! It’s more expensive than the DMV drive test but worth every bit of it!! They offer defensive driving too so I will be using them for this if I ever need to.

Fantastic experience: My daughter took her driving test at First Class Driver at the end of May. The process was so easy, and Bernard immediately put my daughter at ease. They packaged all paperwork to go to Austin due to COVID restrictions. I have called more than a few times with questions about the processing of her license in Austin, and Joni has patiently answered all of my questions each time. She has promptly returned my calls, and she is extremely willing to help. I highly recommend First Class Driver!

Fantastic experience: Everyone is very nice

Negative experience: Came here for my driving test along with my twin and mother. Before I took my first test, I asked the person at the front desk a driving question about stopping before stop signs vs the white line, and she should she couldn't answer me. I wish that had been more of a red flag. While driving through the traffic light there was a bird in the sky and she pointed at it and kept trying to get me to look at it, which I did not do because that's unsafe. On the first test I was failed for going too far into the other lane during an area where I should have done two left turns, and did a U-turn because she said to do a U-turn and not to just turn around or make two left turns. She specifically says to do what you tell you, and I was told to not change lanes without her telling me. My sister failed because she got too many minor mistakes. Ok, whatever. We got unlucky, and we'll improve. We go back to retest two weeks later, with a lot more practice, feeling good. We both perform much better and get a very good score. I am failed for going through a yellow light that changed from green to YELLOW when I was about two car-lengths from the light. I panicked a bit because it was unexpected and started to break, then realized I was fine and continued. So I got failed for "running" a yellow light. My sister was failed for hitting a curb at the start she did not even feel herself hit. This place is a family scam-run business . It is 100$ for the first test as a third-party, and 20$ for each additional test. Reasonable numbers, right? Google reviews seem ok at first, and then you realize it's almost complete 5 star and 1 star reviews, and that all the five-star reviews have taken their coarse which they push you to take very hard after failing your test for some reason. All the one-star reviews are parent-taught drivers, like myself, who were failed for seemingly made-up reasons, or the silliest things ever. I highly recommend you read those reviews. We were a bit frustrated with the way we were treated. They are rude, ignore you, and are constantly complaining and playing victim to whoever calls them, saying they're overwhelmed. The women who taught us throws her hands up whenever we ask her a question about the test, and says we need more practice, and that she doesn't know to things she should. I took my tests during peak covid and she did not wear a mask despite sitting right next to me and COUGHING. You are constantly pushed to take their course, and they push you that you need to get 100 hours of driving, even though you only need 30 legally. They make you feel like you're in the wrong no matter what, and you feel awful all the time. We'll be going to DMV, because this place is even worse than that hell-hole. I will be making sure to look more into things such as this in the future. Edit 6 months later: Passed with flying colors first test at the DMV a few weeks after being failed. Instructor constantly praising me and my twin's driving. Have continued driving since then with no incidents a few hours a week. Edit 2 years later: This place still motivates me to not be an asshole or scam people for money. Going on 2 years and no car accidents of any kind. I am regularly complimented on my driving when driving friends. I've only ran three red lights! Edit 4 years later: I am now a senior in college. After years of being the designated driver, I will soon be 21! I will hopefully continue to maintain my 0 accident record. Btw try not to go to a college that's an hour-long commute unless you have to, especially on IH 30. Really not fun. I see a new company has bought this place so I'm not sure how relevant this review still is, but I'm certainly not going to change it.

Negative experience: Took my daughter in for a 3rd party driving test since the DPS is closed. WORST IDEA EVER. The girl scheduled before her was failed for going 44 in a 40. She failed my daughter and rudely told her she needed "professional help" and told us to sign her up for their courses. She lied about the activities during the test (said she was going 50 in a 40, that she ran through multiple T intersections when they only encountered one, that she stopped at, etc) insisted that we did not purchase the correct parent taught curriculum (which we did, we have done this before with our older daughter), became somewhat belligerent, threw her hands up and said "maybe that's what they are doing now, I DON'T KNOW!" My daughter was in tears. Do not take your child here for a third party road test. Wait for the DMV or find somewhere else. It was $100, traumatizing for my daughter and frustrating for us. Don't do it. Just wait. Edited: To add, we got an appointment with the DMV a few weeks later and she passed with FLYING COLORS. The lady at the DMV said she was a wonderful driver and that the only critique she had was that she drives a little too slow on residential streets. First Class Driver was a sham!

Fantastic experience: We used First Class Driver for my daughter's driving test. The process could not have been easier. Joni and Bernard were professional, efficient and very thorough. They helped us navigate the DPS during this crazy COVID time and helped us send all the paperwork to Austin, TX so that she can get her license. I would highly recommend to all!

Fantastic experience: My son just completed his driving instruction and testing from Joni and her team. He is my 3rd child to go through her program. I highly recommend First Class Driver to anyone looking for solid instruction, safety and the knowledge young drivers need on the road.

Negative experience: Don't know why people take other people's business for granted. I had simple questions for them but instead of trying to help me resolve it they keep asking me the same question which I have no answer. The owner is rude and has no idea how to talk to her customers. I let it slide two times but if you're looking for good customer service you might want to try somewhere else.

Fantastic experience: They are fantastic, had the best morning with Joni and Nadia this morning :-) Was lovely to chat and was just a pleasure to get my driving test done :-) They are very professional and truly fantastic :-) I would definitely recommend them to everyone.

Fantastic experience: Wonderful experience here! Came for a third party driving test. From start to finish, Joni was kind and helpful. She made it easy to get this done. She was informative but made me feel totally comfortable during my driving test. I'll bring our daughter here when it's time for her to take Drivers Education

Fantastic experience: Our daughter took the driving test at First Class. The staff was courteous, professional and very pleasant. After the test, the instructor congratulated our daughter for passing and explained the parts of the drive where points were deducted. In all, a nice experience!

Negative experience: I was trying to call about private driving and the lady on the phone had a really nasty attitude. You do yourself a disservice if you are unable to be polite and kind when asked a simple question.

Negative experience: If you're going to put advertising on the car, then you should NOT RUN THROUGH STOP SIGNS AND ALMOST WRECK US WITH NO FREAKING REGARD!!! Unprofessional, UNSAFE GARB!

Negative experience: Very unprofessional. They did not respond to any of my phone calls. Even after I went down to their office, they asked me to email them and I never received any replies or follow-up. Don’t believe in their 4 star rating, these guys are not worth your time.
