Fantastic experience: Scott, April, in the Office and classroom make it very easy to do all the paperwork and take the classroom part of the School. Josh teaching the classroom is Great. Takes time for the questions. Gene, Charles, Frank, Dan, Gary and Jason in the yard Are outstanding, the knowledge they share is Great. Negative experience: I passed my CDL A Automatic test first try. I will say Paying 5k out of pocket is not worth it. When I went to 160 they only had 2 garbage international trucks with 15+ students. They had us freezing our butts off outside in the winter in negative temperatures. They also don’t give everyone enough drive time. It really depends on the student to be able to absorb information quickly and to be able to immediately comprehend how a truck/trailer maneuvers. They put a lot of stress on people in a very short time frame. Not everyone is able to learn like that. Some of the guys were decent teachers but Some were slightly racist and sexist to some of the woman in class. BE WARNED. The entire trucking industry is sketchy. These companies try to prey on people that have no life. People they can force to stay OTR and underpay. I don’t see these schools as any different. Each student is just another 5k. If you can get it covered by a grant then do that but if I could go back I definitely wouldn’t have wasted my time and money.

Fantastic experience: If you don't have the mindset to really want it.. that's on you but if they see you truly want it they will help you. Each person on that yard holds a key of knowledge... You just have to find out who to go to for what and get the information you need. Just like everyone in this world is good in there own way. I truly appreciate them all and I wish I could have talked to them more before I left but I was so in shock I passed because truth be told I almost failed skills at the DMV & wanted to give up... But I remembered a conversation I was having with Charles once before and he told me "If you make a mistake, breath and just think how your going to fix it BUT DONT YOU GET OUT THAT TRUCK UNTIL YOUR EXAMINER TELLS YOU TO STOP" LBS! You have to take the time out of your day, night and life it just depends how bad you want it and how quick you catch on. They will not babysit you! But if you want it bad and you show effort, they'll help you get that CDL. I have nothing bad to say about the people because they helped me get my CDL. Leave your emotions and feelings in the car is what I will say.. just focus on your CDL and get prepared to become a trucker. I appreciate them all. Charles, Bonnie, Frank, Zack , Gene, Jason, Gary, Dan Thank You! You all played a part in passing my test. BONNIE is definitely my life saver! She put me too the test and I can't thank her enough! If YOUUU want it! Yes 160 in Rockford will help you get your CDL! & They have Automatic or Manual.

Fantastic experience: All of the instructors were very nice and gave great guidance while learning to drive. It was a very personal experience to have each instructor connect with you and tell you their stories. I'm a little sad to be going, but I ang glad I got my CDL through 160!

Fantastic experience: Man where can I start. From the front office and doing the actual in class was amazing. They made SURE you knew what you were talking about and it’s up to YOU to learn it and to soak all the information in. To the yard. It was an absolute blessing of a group of instructors. They work with you one on one if you need more help or just to go over whatever you’re struggling with or reviewing. I had nothing but positive vibes from this school and it was a blessing to be apart of this great team and experience!! I will forever thank the WHOLE school for what they did for me and my family! One thing you have to remember is that if you want, GO GET IT!!!! Put in the extra effort and time , and stay focused on the end goal! Good luck to all my future fellow CDL holders!!

Fantastic experience: Good experience and great instructors, All instructors have their own way of teaching but also cover all information you will need to obtain a CDL. The fact all the instructors have their own way of teaching makes it very easy to learn. If something doesn’t make sense to you with one of the instructors another instructor can teach you in a different way that may help you. I recommend going here to get your CDL

Staying on point with relevant input to help learn required testing information, driving skills, and gaining the assurance I'd need for the driving of combination vehicles: safely and legally out on the road. Time frame from student to CDL keeps on target... they stayed supportive, even when life happens. When it comes to my time with 160... having earned my CDL, I can say "That it paid off!" Yard time, drive time, instructor time: and the whole FLOW WORKED FOR ME. I now have my CDL. Thanks 160!! Looking forward to driving in my New Income, the opportunity to find higher paying jobs, and the possibility of Career.

Positive experience: Love the instructors! It’s an accelerated program. It’s fast pace but doable. Trust the process, work hard - you will succeed! 4 stars because no one or no place is perfect. You could always find a flaw.

Fantastic experience: 160 driving academy was the best school that I had to choose from and got me prepared and ready to get my license and start driving over the road for a company I went through the classroom and then the outside yard went took my test one and done past the first time and could be more happier with the outcome and everything that they helped me with along the way in Scott's a great guy in Rockford

Negative experience: I’ll start off by saying I passed first try a year and a half ago. The instructors were great and showed you as much as they could.but the school could improve on showing you how to actually back into a dock or some store of skill. They did say “their jobs were to help you pass and that’s it”. You’d think after giving them 5,000 bucks you get more out of it. I also had to wait an additional month to test. I strongly recommend a different school, if you want to graduate feeling comfortable enough to tackle any job.

Fantastic experience: If you listen to the instructors and study your packet you will have the best chance to pass! They have alot of knowledge to pass on. Just listen.

Fantastic experience: Im not going to lie the yard is cold. I did not initially like being here, and I felt like it was a lot of money spent for the time you get with the instructors. But at the end of the day, I was one and done. I passed my CDL test on the first try without any points, and no pull ups on skills. If you are determined, and dedicated to getting your CDL, Charles, Gene, Jay, Frank, Zach, Ms Bony, Gary, and Rob will do everything in their power to make sure you pass the test so you can better yourself and start a career. I am grateful for my time at 160 driving academy. They know what they are talking about. You will have plenty of time to learn. Thanks guys I really appreciate it. I learned a lot out there in the freezing cold.

Positive experience: ONE AND DONE Scott was very helpful as well as the instructors on the yard. Only thing I would change is the amount of time you get in the truck, but if you put in the work you can ONE AND DONE.

Fantastic experience: The whole process was smooth and the instructors were of great help. During my time at the yard, Charles got moved up to lead instructor and the days leading up to my test at the dmv, he gave some huge tips. I didn’t get to work with Boni much, but I did get to drive with her once and she as well gave me some helpful tips. Instructor Gene and Jay also gave me some tips leading up to my test and tips for post graduation. Overall, there are too many instructors to list, but none the less, all the instructors there helped out significantly and pushed me to be my best.

Fantastic experience: 160 has a great group of guys that’ll help you if you’re struggling with any particular part of the yard. (Whether it be how to shift manually if you have any trouble, or how to use the right phrases, forwarding your pre-trip sections) Charles is that guy! He is amazing at what he does. Zack l, that guy may be few of words but his knowledge is spot on. Frank speaks to you with sick calmness. You will not feel overwhelmed when driving with him. Jerry is one that will keep it real. Pulls no punches. Cory very much hands on. Will make sure you know your sections. Joe man of few words but you know he means business when he speaks. To the instructor that road with me to the DMV testing. Thank you sir for calming me the ride over and your critiques. Much respect for you ALLLLLLL!

Positive experience: Good place to get your CDL. The instructors are very knowledgeable and they teach you everything you need to know to pass your exam. Friendly atmosphere and everyone is willing to help each other pass. My reason for 4 stars is unfortunately unreliable equipment (everyday there's something wrong with a truck) and the amount of time it takes for you to get your CDL. Although the class itself is 4 weeks they don't take into account the time you have to wait for your drug test and get an appointment date for your test which the program really ends up being anywhere between 6-8 weeks. Just something to take into account. Overall I had a good experience and I will forever be greatful with the instructors for all of their knowledge and help!

Study pre trip and in cab and get them skills in even if it means waiting hours in line to get in for skills! You won't get alot of driving experience you get the ability to pass the test. Fantastic experience: If you’re looking for a new career change, higher income, or simply wanting to acquire a CDL-A this is the place to come. Instructors in Rockford are great to say the least . A huge shoutout to Gary, Cory, Zach, Frank and Charles. I went the manual route and when I tell you … the first week was not easy since you’re learning a new skill but hang on tight and keep your head up because it will get easier as you continue. If you’re having shifting problems go talk to Gary he’ll straighten you out. If you need help with your skills or pre trip go see my shoutout list. They’re all Great this was just my personal experience. If you want your day brighten go see Jean he’s such a happy Camper. But seriously, in all honesty you’ll learn a new skill and enjoy the process . If you’re having any issues in the yard Talk to Joe he’ll square you away with the help you need ! Fantastic experience: Excellent Dave the trainer for classroom was and excellent trainer Scott Wibbles the office was a very out going person and an excellent person to have help you all the way thru traing and the yard at the yard the instructors we're were really experienced and train you well Id like to give a big shout out to all the trainers at the yard but 3 really stand out is Charles Frank and Gary so if you are looking to go to truck driving school 160 is the place in and out quick very very good school thanks you to all the staff at 160 driving academy in Rockford stay safe

Fantastic experience: 160 Driving Academy is a GREAT SCHOOL, to get your CLASS A CDL. The first week of being in-class you will learn a lot of information that maybe overwhelming at first but it will all come together once you go to the yard. Your first day in the yard, you will be overwhelmed with the truck pre-trip. Just break it down to learning one section at a time. All of the instructors that work at the yard in Rockford are all very friendly and easy going. LISTEN the instructors, they will give you little nuggets on how to do things so you get better. Example: Double clutching is hard at first but one instructor told me to listen to the song from the Adam's Family show and you will learn how to shift using the double clutching. From Scott in the main office to all of the instructors at the yard, Joe, Charles, Gene, Gary, Frank, Jerry, Bonnie, Anthony, and Corey are some of the BEST people I have every had the pleasure of working with to help me get my CDL. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND GETTING YOUR CDL FROM 160 DRIVING ACADEMY!!!!

They make sure you have everything you need and you're good to go with pre trip, skills, and driving before going to the dmv for the CDL test. If you put in hard work, the easier it's going to be and you're going to be in a good spot. If you're wasting time and you're not trying at all, well don't be surprised when the instructors are looking for you to get your stuff back together and when your hours are running out.
