Positive experience: short: if you need a driver's license and don't care about anything else, then this is the place for you. in detail: 1) the reception staff doesn't speak English well 2) the lesson, which they promise will last 5 hours, will end up being less than 1.5 hours, meaning that in the future you won't care whether you follow the traffic rules or not. 3) the instructor is rude, and also doesn't speak English well. 3.5) he doesn't tell you much about the rules, for example, he didn't tell you about the 3 point turn at all.

Fantastic experience: I contacted them through text and I scheduled the lessons and the road test smoothly. They were very professional always in communication with the student and they helped me a lot sending me reminders of the lessons dates and hours. I passed the road test the first try! Thanks to their help!

Negative experience: They lack communication due to the language barrier. Despite the fact that instructors are old, they're immature, impatient, unprofessional, and take things personally. I have failed the roadtest twice with them because of mistakes they're never corrected me on!!! They don't care about students.

Negative experience: Worst place to learn how to drive. I had 2 instructors. The first one was racist, sexist, and made inappropriate jokes. Made me feel so uncomfortable. His name is Micheal. He would make other students drive me home and this one time, I would see him push the student out the window to check the side mirror??? And this other time, we were driving and he pointed at a lady driver in front and said an inappropriate comment about her. Very weird guy. Such a creep. And they sign you up to take the test in Coney Island, which is the worst place to take it. This place is such a scam. Go somewhere else.

Fantastic experience: this driving school was amazing at teaching me how to parallel park (that was my main issue). Ray was great on teaching everything that was tested on the road test. Took 2 tries because of silly mistakes on my first and the second i passed. Even though I was nervous, Ray told me to have confidence as he had confidence in me driving and passing. Would recommend this place to people who speaks/knows chinese and english.

Negative experience: Avoid at all cost. I have had two driving instructors. One was glued to his phone and couldn’t care less. The other was sexist and impolite, more practical but still VERY judgy. Wasted my hard earned money

Fantastic experience: Passed my test on the second try after doing 15 hrs of lessons! I highly recommend Leo as the instructor and take it in SEAVIEW location in the AM. Failed my first try in Coney but i also only took 5hr lesson which is not recommended! Took another 10h with Leo and he gave me more confidence. I also recommend 2hr session if you are a beginner!!! Thank you!!!

Fantastic experience: Passed my road test on 1-17-2023! on my first try thanks to my instructor LEO! he taught me how to park and do a 3 point turn and when to properly used my signals in order to pass the test i highly recommend this driving school i had a 5 hour driving lesson ,10 days later i have my license!

Fantastic experience: My friend and I just passed my drivers exam after the first try. My friend and I took classes together with instructor Ray at Sun Rays Driving school for just 5 lessons. Every lesson is 1 hour per student and much needed for a noob driver like us. Ray is very patient and laidback, and stern where needed. He helped me build confidence in my driving skills and doesn't helicopter you and gives you the space to take in information without panicking. Any questions were answered promptly and gives tons of tips on turning, stops, parallel parking, K/U-Turns. Don't hesitate to ask any questions and ask for feedback. I mentioned that I needed more pointers on turning and parking and Ray is very accommodating. Sun Rays gives you your lesson schedule on the first day for your following lessons. On the day of the exam, the instructor brings you to the exam and lends you the car for the driver's test. Communication is great and punctual, appreciated that. Just trust the process and instructor's advice and you will pass :)

Fantastic experience: Sun Rays Driving School partnered me with instructor Stephan. Stephan helped me succeed in basic driving, K-turns, parking, and my road test first try which took place in Coney Island.

Fantastic experience: If i could give them more than 5 stars i would. My instructor was very patient and encouraging. I had no driving experience before my lessons but I passed my road test on my first try. Definitely recommend going here.

Negative experience: I would not recommend learning from Michael he is impatient, rude, and inattentive when I was learning how to drive on the road. He expects you to immediately understand his teach methods, and will raise his voice to further explain if you make any slight mistakes. This belittling made me anxious when driving which made it very difficult to learn anything from the lesson. Also every lesson I had with him, he was on the phone chatting with his friends instead of doing his job. Furthermore, he was not will to change his teaching style to focus on my weaknesses; despite me asking several times for help in those particular areas. He will give you directions to drive to a specific location to constantly do parallel parking just to past the time. That is the only skill I learned how to do well from his lessons. All in all, this was not a good experience; wish I had spent my money elsewhere.

Fantastic experience: I am very happy with all the services they have provided. Mike was my instructor and I had to request him because of all the good things that I have heard. Mike is extremely good at explaining the details on the road and will not be hesitant to correct you.

Fantastic experience: I had Michael as an instructor and I passed 2 days ago after taking one lesson. He is very nice and he will teach you everything that you need to know. I really recommend him and you will never regret it. He will also train you until you get ready for the test.

Fantastic experience: I took 6 lessons from another place and it wasn't really good so I came here. I passed the road test after 10 lessons from here, note that I never had experience behind the wheels outside of the driving lessons. I had instructor Paul and he taught me everything I needed. Now I passed the exam first try. I really recommend this place and Instructor Paul. I came with crappy turns and don't know K turn or parking at all, 10 lessons later I am super comfortable. If your road test time permits, take an extra course the day before and the morning of the road test. I did that and passed nicely.

Fantastic experience: I specifically requested for Michael to be my instructor based on reviews and never regretted it. Michael is very experienced, friendly, and most importantly an excellent teacher. I took 10 hours of lessons with him and learned something new from him every time. Thanks to him I was able to pass my road test on the first try with confidence. He truly is the best and you will not regret having him as your instructor.

Fantastic experience: BELIEVE THE REVIEWS ABOUT MICHAEL!!! He will make sure you’re ready for the road test. This was my second time taking the test and I failed miserably the first time around. This time I decided to go with Michael because of all the great reviews about him. As soon as I got in the car, I knew he would be an amazing instructor. All the other instructors I’ve been with yelled at me and expected me to learn how to drive by learning what not to do. This guy will ask you questions if he sees you’re lacking in judgement and make sure it’s getting through to you the reasons for doing things on the road. Michael makes you understand why the road rules are in place, rather than following these rules blindly. I cannot recommend Michael enough. His personality made it easy for me to learn and allows me to look forward to driving lessons, whereas I was anxious when I had another instructor at another school. Learning here made me confident in my driving, and while I still want to continue getting better with my driving, it would not be possible without the help of Michael.

Fantastic experience: I had no experience with driving and driving seemed terrifing for me. My first and last driving instructor is Micheal. I could not recommand him enough; all it takes is two lesson and anyone would look forward for the next lesson. I'm sure the other instructors in Sun Ray is just as good but Micheal makes my journy memorable.

Fantastic experience: Ray was my instructor and I passed my road test on my first try. He knows the ins and outs of the test and how to minimize errors that might make you fail. He's very nice and I had a great experience.

Positive experience: This driving school was recommended by three of my friends. My friends took lessons many years ago. But, my experience with this school was not as good compared to others. I purchased a package that includes 5 driving lesson and a road test that costed $250. The first instructor was Frankie, he gave tips on how to make a broken U and parallel park. He was patient and tells me what I can do to improve. He also makes me repeatedly practice how to parallel park and make broken U. But, they changed my instructor due to some circumstances from their end. I was disappointed because I was getting used to his teachings and his car. The next instructor was Benson, I felt distracted since he would try to make small talk with me as I try to use his car. I felt I did not get any practice in because he takes awhile to explain. He also dropped me off ten minutes early. I asked if they will reimburse the time but they said they cannot because I requested for another instructor. The last two lessons was with another instructor, Michael. Michael is knowledgeable and will explain thoroughly. He encourages to ask questions and he will ask you to explain the reasons so you can understand the rules of driving on the road. Dana, is the secretary of this school. She is in charge of receiving payments and reminding you when is your next appointment(s). However, I ran into an issue because the school assumes their students takes their 5 hours pre-license course at their school. I took it at another school and they failed to remind me to bring the certificate on the day of the road test. Thankfully, I was able to reschedule to a month later unless I want to pay a fee. My road test was a month later, I practiced with another car. I asked if I could use the car I've been practicing with instead of the instructors' car, they told me no because the school booked the road test and the examiner will check to see if my car has a secondary brake. Based on others' experiences/review, this is incorrect information because they called DMV to confirm. Thankfully, I passed the road test. Overall, my experience with this school is a 3/5 because the instructors are unpredictable. They can switch out on you last minute or you'll be unsatisfied with their services. If you are planning to take lessons here, I recommend Michael because he is knowledgeable and can teach you some tips.

Fantastic experience: I was with another driving school previously and disliked it very much. I was constantly being scrutinized for doing something wrong. Very uncomfortable experience. I came upon Sunrays driving school, although the classes and package is a bit on the pricier side. They're great! I highly recommend, Michael, Benson, and Frankie. I started with Michael first, he is very good, very knowledgable and then I had also went with Benson. Benson comes with a lot of experience and knowledge as well. Benson was able to point out the slightest and smallest details with me and where I can improve. Great instructor overall. Lastly, I had Frankie and continued with him until my road test. Frankie is very knowledgable as well as being nice. I passed my road test with the help of these 3 instructors giving me advice to do better. They have given me the time and patience to help me be a better driver and given me the time I paid for. I will definitely recommend people for this school based my on experience. Negative experience: Just horrible, rude, unprofessional and disrespectful staff I didn't even start and it was a mess. I cancelled everything immediately Be aware of the lady making appointments, she'll always find a way to make you pay more and more. Don't expect them to be punctual and respect your time, it is the least of their concerns. The cancellation policy works only for them, just an excuse to steal your money. The worst experience ever: The instructor didn't show up nobody knew, ZERO coordination. until I called. What a joke!!! The word "schedule" means whenever we call you, *"if they do!" You come! Fantastic experience: Passed my driving test today with Michael! Previously used another instructor from this school and the experience was not so good. But Michael was very good at his job. I like the fact that he lets you know if you are doing something wrong. That is what you need to succeed. Highly recommend Michael!

Fantastic experience: The absolute best service money can buy. I was in and out within a month. 3 lessons, 5 hour video and road test with a pass on the first try. Micheal was awesome! Straight to the point and clear instructions. If Michael isn’t available Benson was also great. I recommend both. Positive experience: Passed my roadtest recently all I can say is the instructor here is amazing but I am giving a 3 star is because the woman handles appointment poorly. We all understand there can be more than one staff handle appointments but is not an excuse to messed up dates and test locations. Long story short, just confirm with them about the date time and the location of the test site beforehand. Also, if this is your first time ever taking driving lessons, make sure to do the 10hours and DO NOT start too soon before your test. The woman is a little sneaky on this part.. she made me finished all my lessons way before my roadtest.. Just be clear and do not be tricked by the front desk woman.

Fantastic experience: My journey to driving started a year ago. I had the privilege to have Micheal as my instructor. From the moment I started lessons at Sunray driving school, they worked quickly with the lessons. Michael was a instructor that has patience. He was confident in the student. At the same time he was very aware of the road for safety purposes. I failed my test twice, Michael was confident that I would pass soon. He would review the failed test points to be aware to what I needed practice and would not stop until I was ready. A year later, I finally passed my exam and it wouldn’t be without the help of Sunray and Micheal

Fantastic experience: I took the road test twice and passed the second time just today! I had a different instructor the first time and took the test before I was ready. Before my second test, I took a couple of lessons with Michael. Highly recommend him!!! He taught me a lot of tips and tricks that I didn't learn before about parallel parking and 3 point turns. For parallel parking, he explains how to readjust if you are too close or too far from the curb which can be a bit difficult to understand. However, if you have trouble understanding, he will explain it again and again until you truly understand with no complaints. He is super patient and friendly! Even when I made mistakes, he would not get upset and he would calmly tell me what was wrong. He helped me gain my confidence while driving. So glad that I was able to have him as an instructor!! Also really appreciated the pick up and drop off service. Scheduling appointments was super easy over the phone as well as making payments with Zelle!

Fantastic experience: It was a fantastic experience preparing for the road test here. I took five-hour classes from Micheal and passed the road test at the first attempt. So I strongly recommend Micheal as the instructor. He is skilled and patient. The site I took my road test is Seaview. Not much traffic there. Definitely a good choice for road testing in Brooklyn.

Fantastic experience: I passed my test on my first try after 5 two hour lessons (you have to ask for this) thanks to Michael. He is a very cool guy and will get you comfortable with driving a car and learning all the rules of the road quickly. Sometimes he will be hard on you when necessary but it will help you learn your mistakes so you will be ready for the road test. Make sure you watch videos on YouTube too, those help a lot. If you are serious and want to improve at driving in the shortest time possible, make sure you ask for Michael.

Ray would tell you what you need to know and made sure I understood my mistakes. He is super friendly and very patient even when I had like a thousand questions. I started with zero experience and was super nervous during my first lesson, but his calm demeanor and useful tips helped me become a more confident driver. Fantastic experience: Passed my road test thanks to Instructor Michael. He's patient with his students and gives plenty of helpful advice. I was able to improve on my turns and parallel parking thanks to his guidance. It was also easy for me to discern many of the areas I needed to work on since he didn't interfere with my driving unless necessary. Overall I had a great experience and my driving has improved by leaps and bounds; never thought I'd see the day. If you get the chance, I would strongly recommend instructor Michael.

Fantastic experience: Michael is the best driving instructor I've met! I went to 2 different driving schools before and their teachers would scream at me when practicing to learn how to turn, but not Michael! He was extremely patient, friendly, and understanding! He gave me confidence while driving. The most important thing is to feel the car as you're moving, which he patiently allows you to do! I highly recommend Michael as your instructor! The only downside is that the driving school charges $40 per hour, which seems a little too high in my opinion. Also, I would highly advise NOT to go to Red Hook for your Road Test (I failed my first road test there). The roads are way too narrow and visibility is somewhat hard to see on one-way streets, especially for a quick 8-min exam. I highly recommend SeaView (Brooklyn) as your Road Test location (I passed my road test there!). Other than that, great instructor!

Negative experience: Had a bad experience with Alex. Smoking, coughing, no mask in the vehicle. Late for pickup and old and un-sanitized car. There are better prices for driving school, especially on 86st you can find many that offer the same course for $200-$300. Very unprofessional instructors.

Fantastic experience: Michael is the absolute best instructor you can take to pass your road test. He trusts his students and will never use the brake or take control unless its necessary. This really helps with building confidence in learning how to drive on your own. He'll get straight to the point with any mistake you are making as well as everything you'll need to know about the road test. As this was my second time taking the road test, with Michael I only needed two lessons and made one mistake. I could not have had a better or easier experience. He is a great conversationalist as well. Would highly recommend taking your lessons with him.

Fantastic experience: Passed on my first try thanks to instructor Michael (Mike). Mike is a very patient instructor but is not afraid to call you out on bad habits. Driving with Mike was very comfortable, and he teaches you to be confident when driving on the road. I would highly recommended coming to Sun Rays and asking for instructor Mike.

Fantastic experience: I honestly wasn't even interested in a driver's license because I'm a big chicken on the road, but one day I was like, what the heck let's do it. Saw that this driving school was highly rated and recommended and I can see why! First off, front desk ladies were very nice and informative. They had prices and lesson packages listed which you can pay with cash or QuickPay. They were also on top of their game scheduling my lessons with text reminders a day prior. Very accommodating with lesson times as well since I was doing this inbetween a full time work schedule. I wasn't too picky and choosy with my driving instructor. Due to my weird schedule, I had 3 different instructors, all of which were very good. Most of my lessons were with Benson, who speaks fluent English and I felt very relaxed around him. He's a super chill man. I can tell he knows his way on the road and he really cares that you learn to drive safely. He gave me many pointers and has never yelled at me or rushed me. I had a few lessons with Matthew/Matt. A younger instructor, but he was also very knowledgeable with driving. Also fluent in English and extremely easy to talk to. He's very straight forward with how you drive. If you make a mistake, he'll explain what you did wrong and then tell you what you should do for next time. He made sure to always drill those small habits when driving into me so that no unnecessary points would be taken off during the test! Very thankful for that. Last lesson was with a Cantonese speaking man, Mr. Yew (or Yiu, not sure how to spell it). Since I only had one lesson with him, I can't comment too much on the way he teaches, but from that one lesson, he is a very patient and calm man. I was mainly working on my parking at this point and he really helped with that. Overall I had a great experience with this driving school. Just understand that despite who teaches you, you also just have to give your 100% into this and you'll drive fine. Be attentive, listen carefully and stay calm! I went into this a beginner not knowing how to drive and came out a driver who can finally be comfortable behind the wheel. Good luck to others taking future road tests!

Fantastic experience: The first time I took my road test was in mid-August. I failed because I was too nervous and made a lot of mistakes. From that road test all the way up to Thanksgiving break, my second road test, I had not driven a single time. I was super doubtful and nervous for my second road test because I had not driven in over three months and it was a completely new instructor (Michael) and car, but Michael was super patient, helpful, and friendly. My one lesson with Michael on the day of my road test was all the practice I needed to pass. He taught me different tips and tricks to fix my parking (that I actually ended up using on the road test) and we practiced the different skills until I felt confident. He also warned us about the trickiest parts of the road test, which was super helpful to know. Overall, he was a great instructor and I'm super glad I had him because he played a huge part in me passing the road test.

Fantastic experience: I searched long and hard for a good driving school at a good price and this was it. My permit expires in January of 2022 so I had to do a rush lesson/exam. Initially I had a different instructor on my first 1 hour lesson with B and he was terrible but won't go into details because this review ain't about him. The same night I called the school to schedule another lesson with MIKE because of his highly rated reviews on yelp. YOOOOO I PASSED ON THE FIRST TRY and only had TWO days of lesson with him! If you sign up for this school, sign up with MIKE! TWO DAYS with him and I passed!! I still can't believe it!! INSANE!! Exam location: Seaview Brooklyn (very good place)

Fantastic experience: I had 5 lessons with Michael, and I came with very little driving experiences previously. He is a very experienced driver and an expert driver coach. He is very patient and willing to teach anything he know. He know exactly what the examiner want and will guides you to the path to pass. I have a really good experience with him. Thank him a lot.

Fantastic experience: Let me tell you something. I came in with ZERO experience of driving. I mean barely able to start a car. But with Michael, I was able to not only perfect my parking and horrible turning. But I was also able to pass with ZERO deductions on my test. He is a brilliant instructor who will help even the most clueless pass. I 100% recommend this school!!

I have to say that Mr.Chow was the most fantastic driving instructor I have ever met (including my family and friends). Plus, I had an awful learning experience in the previous driving school with another driving instructor. However, Frankie is a patient, responsible, and sophisticated skilled driving instructor. Moreover, he is so funny! Remember that your mind/mood can be the reason you can pass the test or not, but Frankie will always give me confidence and cheer me up! Fantastic experience: This school despite being cheaper than many other alternatives is an excellent driving school. Specifically, my instructor Michael, was amazing and very good at explaining how and where I went wrong when I failed my first two road tests. After two lessons, he had brought my driving skills up to par and I passed!! Not only is Michael a great instructor, the school itself works hard to get you a rushed test. I was under a time crunch and had to get a road test before my birthday, they were able to get me an appointment within a week and did not charge me until they found one. I highly recommend the school and Michael as an instructor.

Their prices are fair and affordable. You will be able to choose between a few packages that offer a road test appointment, a car for the test, and a pre-licensing course. Scheduling is very flexible and the school arranges driving hours to your best comfort. Their office hires a small, but very organized, polite, and professional staff that takes care of all reminders. I've been offered a lot of patience and understanding for my busy and unpredictable work schedule. Last, but not least, I'd like to send my IMMENSE THANK YOU to my driving instructor, Michael. His competence, tremendous know-how, and super friendly judgement of my poor driving skills helped me accelerate fast and reach the goal of passing the test. I can't thank him more for teaching me how to park, do a 3-point turn, adequately observe, use caution, and make sure I do not impede traffic by lacking confidence. Fantastic experience: Phenomenal experience. I walked in and got myself some driving lessons, i haven't drove a car in more than 10 years. My driving instructor MICHAEL took he's time,skills and knowledge to help me improve and pass the road test on my 1st try. The staff at the school are really nice and supportive as they helped me get my schedule down for the 5 lessons I needed and an instructor who would be willing to teach me in short time to how be a great safe drive. Mike teaches you exactly what it is you need to do in order drive adequately, safely, and properly.
