With over 12 locations across the Denver Metro area, DriveSafe is the largest, and only AAA approved Driving School in the State of Colorado. While our locations’ office hours vary, we do offer scheduled drive lessons and license tests 7 days a week, with driving lessons ending as late as 9pm.

Negative experience: Buyer Beware! They are selling packages that they can't honor and once you purchase, there are no resolutions for you when you can't book what you purchased. We made the mistake of buying the permit class with the driving lessons. In over a year, we have not been able to book the driving lessons. There are never appointments through the online system at any location. They put you on a waitlist for all locations and you get a text when something opens up, but there's never an option available when the text comes in. I've regularly checked online as I was advised for the next schedule to come out and can't ever find an appointment at any location within an hour of the location we took the permit class. Called to find out if that could be rolled over for the driving test instead since my child is now far outside of the age that the driving lessons are required, since we've never been able to get these scheduled. Nope. Non-refundable and non-transferable. Even worse was the lack of customer service or understanding of the frustration by Andrea Gonzalez at the Lakewood location, who I unfortunately had to talk to (even though I called the Denver location). Not once did she even attempt to find any open appointments to fulfill this or offer any kind of solution, she was just snarky and rude. Please spare yourself the nightmare and go somewhere else!

Negative experience: I am absolutely appalled at the testing!! After I took my test(Which would be the fourth of my life since I’m 40) I was told by the instructor that he couldn’t tell if I was going over 25 miles an hour so he gave me the benefit of the doubt he told me I was very careful in everything I did except I didn’t come down on complete stop three full times! So in other words, he told me that at three stop signs. I continue to move and didn’t come to complete stops, but I was absolutely careful on everything else in the test. I spent $99 to take this test. I was failed because I made three in fractions Immediately I asked for a retest with somebody different and was told I had to pay $70 !!! Now for someone who’s had their license since they were 16 but had to retest because it’s been a long time I don’t understand how you can say that I didn’t pass my test. I was told that I was going to be contacted by management and that did not occur. I feel as though this is a racket and I absolutely do not recommend this place to go . Find a different place because they were almost guaranteed fail you just to charge you again. And then not follow through with their word when they say they’ll have management contact you! Edit: I still don’t think you know what you’re talking about! I did come to complete stops every time if I did every single thing else good and was praised on everything else. How did I not come to complete stop three full times that’s absolutely asinine. It is a racket. I spent $100 to take a test in your car where your tester couldn’t tell what speed I was going and then failed me because he said I didn’t stop only to turn around and try to charge me 70 more dollars your company is a joke you do not give complete test your tester was asinine. All I asked for was a different tester and you can’t do that you want to charge me more money absolutely not , this is an absolute racket and all you care about is taking drivers money. , this is a absolute racket and all you care about is taking drivers money. If you’re standing by your company, won’t you let me retest with a different tester?

The license test standards are set forth by the state of Colorado, and our drive testers are certified and required by the state to observe and report to those standards accurately. The license test evaluates over 100 items that measure a driver’s skill and knowledge of legal and safe driving practices, which even seasoned drivers can overlook. Unfortunately, your traffic violations resulted in your drive test failure and our drive testers cannot legally pass a student if they do not abide by safe and lawful driving practices. We can assure you that we are not trying to capitalize on drive test failures. As educators first and foremost, our primary focus is on promoting safe driving habits to ensure all roadways users are safe. While it may seem minor not to come to a complete stop, these actions are critical in observing safe driving practices. The state has these stop laws in place to keep both drivers and pedestrians safe and aware and account for reaction time, all of which are crucial in preventing accidents. We recognize that no one likes to fail, but the state has designed the test this way to help people understand how to drive more safely. It is often the case that students pass on their second attempt after learning what led to their failure on the first test. Our interest is aligned with people passing but, even more so, with everyone's safety on the road. Negative experience: The initial permit class was good. Impossible to schedule required driving lessons paid for with that class. Looking two months out and not a single appointment available. Only one appointment in their network 6-weeks out in Greenwood Village. They add you to a waitlist that texts you if something opens. I have received 6 of these texts, 5 of them I clicked the link right when it came in and there has yet to be any appointments available at the link. They really should stop selling the lessons until they can actually honor the ones they have actually sold. I cannot recommend this situation to anyone.

When it was time to take my road test and I was stressed more than I've ever been, my assessor Randy stayed calm and collected puting me at ease. Give that man a raise, he deserves it! You'd be silly to choose any other school/testing facility.

Negative experience: Update: they replied to this review asking me to email them and I did. Not a word since. The website requires you to pay upfront for a road license test prior to seeing the available schedule. Once it processed my payment, I was unable to log in to the account/portal I had just created to schedule, so I had to call to schedule by phone. I was able to do that with some ease but realized a few minutes after I hung up with the person scheduling the call for me that I had made an error in the day that I wanted to have the driving test scheduled. I called at least 5 times and left messages every time, and never got a reply. The Scheduled time came and went and I was never able to reach a human being at the Denver location. Website didn't work, people don't answer phones or return calls. Not a good first impression.

Fantastic experience: I was a student for there online driving school program, and while it wasn’t my favorite, it was well put together. When I went to take my permit test, I was pleasantly surprised, the front desk guy was super nice, he helped answer all of my questions, and it really put my mind at ease. The test went well, and I walked out excited, happy, and having a permit!

Fantastic experience: I don't believe my driving examinstructor disclosed his name, but was a nice guy while remaining more professional than I expected. Great experience.
Negative experience: Super expensive. 115.00 for drive test when others charge 80.00 and there is no refunds even 30+ days out. In the recorded terms and co dictions it does not say that it says cancelations are accepted excepted up to 48 hrs till test except it doesn’t say no refunds. Totally predatory.

Fantastic experience: I’m an adult driver who took classes with DriveSafe and also tested for my license with them. My driving instructors Ryan, Chrissie, and Bobby were the most patient, down-to-earth, and informative people! They made me feel so safe as a nervous adult driver, and each 2 hour lesson was so productive and educational! My driving test was conducted with Randy, who was very professional and kind. I now have my license and I couldn’t recommend DriveSafe schools higher for learners at any level!
Negative experience: 30+ minutes late to my test, and then their website lies about being able to use your own car. Which is very jarring for someone taking the test. Don’t go here, terrible experience

We do, however, state on our website that all of our driver license tests take place in DriveSafe vehicles, unless an individual is required to use an interlock device. Negative experience: This place is awful. They basically steal your money by making it seamless to purchase a driving test online, then giving you no way to schedule it without calling. When the timeline for test availability doesn’t work and you try to cancel, they refer you to their no refunds policy. To be clear, a business you have never set foot in your entire life allows you to purchase a service, only allows you to access that service by appointment, and when they can’t accommodate you on an aceptable timeline, has no interest in giving you your money back—that is a scam. It means the business has no interest in taking care of people and doing the right thing.

Fantastic experience: I had a great experience at the Denver testing location with the help of Instructor Dave. He is very patient and answers any questions you have throughly before the test; he is very friendly and interacts repesctfully with students. He is very encouraging and would help you to pass instead of stressing you. The office receptionists are also friendly, helpful, and delightful to talk to. It was a way better experience than that I had elsewhere!

Negative experience: If you live in the area of the Colfax location, do not use Drive Safe. They are severely understaffed. You buy a package and you cannot schedule any drives because there are no openings. Then you have to drive ~30 minutes away to another location (not very convenient for someone who doesn't drive yet). They also do not return phone calls when you leave them a message. When I finally got someone on the phone, I was expressing my dissatisfaction with someone while trying to make an appointment and she hung up on me.

Fantastic experience: We had a great experience with every aspect of the Drive Safe experience from the front desk schedulers to the classroom teachers to the drive instructors; everyone was positive and professional. They were also great about rescheduling even in the midst of being slammed now that the state doesn’t perform driving tests anymore. Fantastic experience: After not driving for 18 years, I decided to get my drivers license again. Needless to say, I needed a refresher before taking the test, and DriveSafe Colorado was such an incredible ‘one-stop shop’ for this. I signed up for the one hour lesson with driving test included and I am so glad that I did. My instructor, Dave, was so thorough with everything from driving laws to proper steering (which he was very patient in teaching me how to do…who knew that was such an art?) He kept a very calm demeanor the entire time and although he pointed out my mistakes, always offered ways to fix them. The best news…I passed the test!! But let me tell you, I would have failed miserably had I not taken the one hour refresher. Thanks so much to the East Colfax branch of DriveSafe Colorado! What a great experience and worth every penny! I think it’s great that first time drivers are getting the opportunity to learn from them!!

Fantastic experience: I drive today with Maria at the denver drive safe and it was my best experience with any drivers education and testing ! she was extremely supportive and good at keeping drivers calm and comfortable along with giving great advice to let drivers know their mistakes without making them feel like they can't succeed ! 10/10 recommending her to my fellow friends in need of driving tests !

Negative experience: Before today it was 4 stars. Terrible customer service today. Just got hung up on by a very rude argumentative woman telling me that “she’s not going to argue with a non licensed driver.” WOW! I am a paying customer & was not trying to argue at all. I passed my 3:30 pm test yesterday & my instructor, Thea (sp?) told me that she would submit my results to the dmv yesterday evening & that they would email me personally sometime today. I have not received that email yet so that’s the sole reason for my call today. I informed the woman on the phone that the Denver dmv told me on 6/8/22 that once I pass the test, they will simply use my photo from my permit for my drivers license. She then told me that they, the dmv, Will Not Do That & I need to go back to the dmv to get my license. Drive Safe as a whole needs to properly train & also inform your employees about any changes in the Colorado DMVs policies & or rules.

Negative experience: Usually the folks I’ve worked with have been super polite but whoever was conducting the driving tests today (shorter lady with really long pink nails) was in a REALLY bad mood and off the bat told me she failed a lot of drivers today, which is literally the last thing you want to hear before taking your test haha! Obviously I didn’t pass mine, her bad attitude was A LOT to take in and added to my nerves. While I acknowledge I had some hiccups, she literally didn’t put on her seatbelt, signal when she pulled out and hit the curb when parking the car after the test and then proceeded to take me into the main waiting area to not only tell me I failed my test in front of multiple people, but was incredibly condescending. Nobody likes this super hot weather babe, and i’m sorry you’ve been conducting tests all day, but you really need to refocus your frustrations on other things and not the drivers here. Yikes…

Fantastic experience: Matthew Hernandez was a great instructor and made me rethink what driving is about and how to drive safer. Also testing at this location is nowhere near as hard as many people may think
Fantastic experience: Clayton Tuck was one of the best driving instructors. Although completing my hours before my lessons, Clayton helped me fix small mistakes that had become force of habit. Clayton went out of his way to help me prepare for my drivers test and helped me feel more confident within my driving, not only within residential areas but also the highway. Clayton is one of the best driving instructors as he is calm, nice, and gives feedback in a way that is not overwhelming. Clayton is the best driving instructor I have had, and if you get him consider yourself lucky!

Fantastic experience: DriveSafe Colorado is by far the best school I have experienced. Very professional. I would recommend them to anyone.
Negative experience: They fail me two times for miner reason one being the way I turn and another because I stoped a little had as I wasn’t used to the cars they use. They are over priced and fail people for no reason. Nearly $200 down the drain just to get told that they are conflicted so they have to talk to another instructor only to determine that I fail. This place just wants you money.

While it is difficult failing a license test, driving is a complex skill that impacts the safety of everyone using the roadways. Fantastic experience: I went here for a 6 hour program after realizing I needed it before 16.5, already passed my test and have all my hours. The instructors understand this and teach me things I need to actually learn, like today I did a great parallel parking practice. I recommend this place for sure

My favorite out of the three, she was great at telling me about the things I did wrong but always had something good to say about it too which is a way better way to learn rather then just talking about the wrong things. Fantastic experience: It was easy to make an appointment just a week away. The one hour lesson reinforced the time I spent teaching my daughter how to operate a car. The instructor, Matt Hernandez, gave her feedback I could tell was sinking in more than my ‘parental’ advice. After her lesson, she took the drive test and nailed it on her first try. They gave us documentation right away to take to DMV to get the license. Very simple process.

Negative experience: The worst driving school that can exist, I paid $ 89 for a one-hour driving class and the day I went they only had half an hour and they told me they would reschedule it and when I called they told me to pay $ 35 to reschedule it, they are people who only have them money matters and they believe that money comes to people from trees.
