Negative experience: This is one of the worst driving schools in the Detroit Area. At this point, they are scamming people out of their money with making people go through hoops just to schedule and actually get an appointment knowing they have a no return policy. The bad communication and no response are very intentional. Please take your money elsewhere with people that actually care about teaching and value their customers. If you can report this company please do! Because they are thieves!!

Fantastic experience: My daughter completed both Segments 1 and 2 with Motor City Driving Academy, I couldn’t have asked for a better facility! They were all very professional and kind. My daughter also enjoyed doing her driving lessons with the instructors. They were patient and made her very comfortable. My daughter is a competitive dancer and their available schedules aligned perfectly with ours! Thank you again Motor City Driving Academy!

Negative experience: Absolutely horrible experience. Adult daughter registered and provided availability, was told they could accommodate. Immediately the driver assigned wasn't available, driver tried to schedule appointments at times daughter wasn't available, driver would try to schedule last minute appointments, canceled appointments/repeatedly gave excuses for rescheduling, no one would return emails, no response to requests for different driver and tried to blame daughter for lack of availability despite daughter being consistently available for original time given. Few sessions she did have were few and far between.. not beneficial at all. FINALLY gave her half a refund. So very disappointing as we deliberately choose a local, minority represented business. If I could have chosen zero stars I would have.

Fantastic experience: How could I forget to write my review, It only took me two lesson with Miss Ross and his son, she is very patient and teaches well, I had one lesson with her and that one lesson was so eye opening helped me so much, then another with her son, that gave me some tips that were instrumental in getting y driver license, passed with no points taken offf!!! Would recommend them for your driving lessons , absolute best in Detroit!

Negative experience: Driver instructor was cool but you have to call/ text them to schedule your lessons apparently they don’t reach out to you after you enroll??The communication is terrible I wanted more training but I’ll find another place.

Negative experience: I paid 265 for 3 hour driving from the jump the lady never took me to the parking lot where they supposed to train you she started me off on the streets around my block and she always had an attitude with me for some reason I hated it i wouldn’t recommend and I think her name was miss ross I think but she was mean as hell barely scheduled me for driving lessons it was like every once a month literally I would have to text her and call her like 8 times a week to get schedule for the next week it took her 4 weeks to schedule me and with her i barely learned anything all I learned was turning and how to go forward I’m pretty sure you supposed to learn way more with the 3 hour training unless they just don’t really care or try to train people who pay for the 3 hours because she definitely didn’t care it’s just sad we got people like this that we pay to help us and they do us like that but that’s this world but i wouldn’t recommend here I’ll be taking my money to a place that would actually train me how to do more than just turn and go straight

Negative experience: I would not recommend this driving school. I had three different instructors who taught me. Not the same one. On top of that, I barely practiced parking and only had 30 minutes because the lady acted like she had an attitude. Even though this happened a while ago, I wish I would’ve did more research on finding good driving training.

Fantastic experience: I completed the 12 HR driving package with Mr. Ross as my driving instructor. All I can say is that I would 100% recommend not only The Motor City Driving Academy itself, but Mr. Ross as your instructor! He learned my driving style so well and was able to guide and direct me efficiently according to how I drive. He was extremely patient and communicative, as far as teaching and scheduling, along the process of completing my package. I also passed my driving test on my first try with 9/25 points, so his work can speak for itself! This is an amazing driving school with amazing instructors.

Fantastic experience: I would say, I am blessed to have begun my journey with such a lovely soul! Ms. Ross of the Motor City Driving Academy was my instructor, and I will say that she is perfect! I was a completely new person to the world of driving. I had never been behind the wheel on the roads before. I always had a phobia of being able to drive and so, never tried to learn to drive. But today when I really needed to, I can say that I have actually began to enjoy driving. My entire perception of driving has changed from a phobia to confidence. All this, because of the Motor City Driving School, and special thanks to Ms. Ross You may be a naive driver needing a couple lessons more to gain confidence, a teenager beginning their journey to get acknowledged with the road laws and behind the wheel training lessons or even an adult with almost no confidence and poor driving skills like me. No matter what you are, I would highly recommend the Motor City Driving Academy. Not only Ms. Ross is a great teacher to help you become a responsible driver, also she is a great human being. She is very kind, humble and very accommodating. She goes above and beyond to make sure that she customizes a schedule that suits you and that you walk out as a successful driver. She stays by your side from the day you join the school until you pass your road test. Shout out for this school for making adult classes available even during the summer when they were equally busy preparing the young student drivers to get into action on the roads. Fantastic experience: I was an adult drivers ed student here as a part of a program at my school. Motor City Drivers Ed has been super helpful in getting my license after COVID quarantine. I took drivers ed as a teenager with SEARS (which is now OFFICAL Driving School), but it was nowhere near as helpful and, to be honest, a little shady and rushed. At Motor City, I learned lots of safety tips I never learned previously, and I feel confident as a new driver. The staff here are very helpful and patient, and helped me become a better driver after a long period of not driving at all. Definitely worth the longer commute!

Mr.Ross was so patient and calm throughout all my driving classes. He taught me in such a way that I passed my road test in first attempt. Positive experience: My driver instructor was Mr. Ross. Great techniques & instructions were giving. i was taught many different ways how to parallel park and by far his way is way better and understanding. Mr Ross was really nice instructor and I would recommend driving with him any day. He makes sure your ready to do the actual road test and he also explained everything more than once so you get it on the first or second try it was a really good experience and I felt a lot better doing this practice before my actual test. clear instructions either on the road and how to improve mistakes I made and was always extremely patient. 10/10

Negative experience: My son enrolled for segment 1 and 2. The first segment was a breeze although the online instructor was not professional and spoke poorly of Michigan driver’s as she zoom called in from Texas. The 2nd segment was not without incident. They cancelled the segment a few days before it started citing there was not enough students. My son and I were able to make accommodations to attend the 2nd segment. The communication with this company has been terrible. They bounce you around from person to person. I have spoken with Mrs. Ross several times regarding the lack of professionalism and efficient communication. My son and I prepaid for a practice road test during segment 2 which was to be taken in October. We contacted Motor City via email and text at the end of September to schedule by the 17th of October but to no avail. They text us asking availability then crickets! It’s frustrating, especially when you have pre-paid for services that they refuse to render in a timely fashion. When I spoke with Mrs. Ross she repeatedly told me she would call me back because she was dealing with another parent after she was told that we have been waiting to receive a call back for 3 weeks. Totally unacceptable and disrespectful! You take people money then spin them! Unprofessional is a understatement! I love black owned businesses and I rarely write negative reviews because I understand it’s hard running a business but this is just a blatant disregard for people’s time and money! I will not recommend them and I hope you think twice about sending your children here because they are ill equipped to handle the volume of business they do. As I am writing this review I randomly receive a text telling us to show up at Oak park library parking lot in 2 days at 5:30. No regards for peoples time! This is not how you handle business! Just send me my refund asap! I don’t have anymore patience to deal with this company at this point. I’ve been patient enough!

Negative experience: Idk how this place gets 5 star reviews. I filled out an application and I didn’t receive my student login, so I called she told me text the number that called so I did. I waited a hour still no response. Then this other rude lady answered and was telling me I needed to relax I was gonna get it soon, just getting smart with me and being rude. So I just left it alone because I said maybe she wasn’t having a good day. She told me call back after 3 if i didn’t receive anything in my emails ( mind you texted her if i mistyped the email here is the right one) even tho I’m positive I put the right one in. So then she started questioning me and asking me why would I put the wrong one in and how she don’t got time to be going back and forth from her car and she was already in her car and I’m making her get out. So I handed my mother the phone because at this point I wanted a refund because this was ridiculous I’m not going to drivers training that’s unfriendly and not understanding. The lady said that we don’t give out refunds then later on she said they did when she was talking to my mother. Anyways she kept trying to go back and forth. They decided to go through with refund on Friday 10/14/22 but I still haven’t received anything.

Fantastic experience: I sent my teenage daughter to the school . It was very convenient because it was close to the home .My daughter instructor was very nice . I will recommend this school to all my friends who is looking for an driving training school for there teenagers. My daughter feels very comfortable to take her road test to start driving next month. Negative experience: I have been with them since 2021 and the service was pretty good at first. After awhile, it got difficult to schedule lessons with them. I told them I wouldn’t be able to continue and reached about a refund. They stopped responding to me. I’ve been trying to get a hold of the company’s contract I signed and their link is broken as well.

We had an awful experience with this company and anyone I’ve actually talked to about Motor city has only had negative things to say. I wish talked to people beforehand. Fantastic experience: My son just finish segment one. I have to say that I was very pleased with the virtual class. His instructor, Ms. Coletta was the best. She was very patient and offered a lot of compliments and constructive criticisms when my son came back from his in car driving lesson. She also offered some suggestions to me as well when I am driving in the car with him. If you are looking for a driving school I would highly recommend Motor City Driving Academy.

Fantastic experience: My son attended Motor City Driving Academy for both Segment 1 and Segment 2. The Website and the Student Portal are user friendly and professional. I liked the communication platform and each time that I communicated with staff they always responded timely and the customer service was Exceptional. The students learned to drive in clean, newer model cars and the driving instructors arrived on time. The school also adhered to the CDC requirements for COVID-19 precautions as well as state of Michigan requirements. The school has different locations however, we utilized the Detroit location and I was happy to support a business that is located within the local community. This experience has changed my son's life forever and I am so Grateful that he was able to learn how to be a safe driver at Motor City Driving Academy. Fantastic experience: After a bad experience with another driving school, I was very apprehensive! The virtual classroom instruction was vey good with great communication. The admin office was available to answer questions!! Driving instructor Mr. Leonard Ross is AWESOME! The patience Mr. Ross is by far the best for any new driver!! Positive experience: My first experience with them I paid before I made the appointment which I believe you have to do. I paid for 3 hours for $253 after words I waited 5 days and there was still no call from them and I eventually called them and told them about my payment and that I needed a appointment. So first thing first terrible communication and needs improvement. The 3 hour driving is not enough for you to learn everything you need to if you a beginner and have no practice at all. I paid a second time for 6 hours of drivers training and had to call them and your also schedule a mouth later. So my permit is expiring quickly. That’s not good. So I had 3 separate days of 2 hours each, on my third day they canceled the appointment on me right at the time she was supposed come. And did not let me know a day before or even an hour before my appointment. And I again had to contact them. After wards I tried to get in touch with them to make an appointment and there was no answer at all.

Fantastic experience: My daughter was going on and on about how much she likes Mr. Ross. He looked quite young but he mad a beautiful mannerism and vocabulary. He was very polite and respectful. He always kept a calm voice and he made the environment feel safe at all times. He was always instructing in a very professional manner and never began to yell even when my daughter made mistakes. She says that he also kept the car very clean and always smelled like cocoa butter. I would recommend him to all students and parents with anxious teens such as my own. Thank you Leonard Ross for giving my daughter lots of behind the wheel experience and I can see her improvement.

Fantastic experience: Motor City Driving Academy was a great choice. They were very helpful when it came to questions about what to do when your diving or what to do after the class is over. The teachers were very good at making the class fun while teaching good skills. They were also easy to understand even when they were talking about complicated subjects. Just make sure to schedule your dives when they come out with slots because they do fill up quick! Other than that I would definitely recommend this driving academy for anyone looking for drivers education.

I turned to Motor City Driving Academy to help him get over the hurdles I couldn't teach him, and they provided him the careful and relaxing driving instruction he needed to become a successful driver. Negative experience: I went to motor city last year and still have not received any of my segment 2 papers i called a bunch of times even went up there and spoke to them and still have not received anything . I basically learned how to drive on my own because they didn’t teach me anything.

Negative experience: Do not go here. First of all she didn’t even teach me how to park and everytime I texted her it was always a issue. It was so unprofessional I never drove for my whole hour always just 15-30 mintues it wasn’t fair! Then she would try to schedule everyone to drive in the same day and dropped us off at librarys and other stuff. It was so many pissed parents. All these reviews are lies and I will NEVER and I repeat NEVER GO BACK HERE AGAIN!

Negative experience: My name is Joesph Greene and Miss. Ross was not the best instructor at all. She never would answer her phone and it took centuries to get a call back. My child is 15 years old and you would think she would have maternal love for children. But there unorganized and have no professionalism. Even tho I realised too late after I paid my full amount, I still came to conclusion to send my child to a different driver school instead. And I’m typically supportive of black owned businesses but this makes me want to turn my back on them cause this is the main problem with them they try to be a friend instead of a professional. DO NOT SEND YOU CHILD OR RELATIVE THERE!!!!

Fantastic experience: Amazing instructors, who are very responsive. Make sure you schedule your drives early, and with Ms. Ross! Ms. Ross is absolutely the best, and knows exactly what shes talking about. Her "laissez-faire" attitude towards driving is exactly what all new drivers (student and adult) should be looking for to pass their road test with flying colors. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: From a personal experience of being in the class, and hands on driving with the instructors it was amazing!!! My driving instructor was Ms.Leslie. she took her time in helping me develop my driving skills, never yelled, stayed calm, broke the nervous feeling I had about driving, and also build my confidence. Fantastic experience: Mrs. Leslie is the best instructor, if it wasn't for her I wouldn't have passed the road test. When I first started I couldn't drive at all, but by the 12th drive she helped become an experienced driver, so i highly recommend having Mrs. Leslie as your instructor because she will help you become a great driver in no time.

Fantastic experience: I chose this driving academy mainly because of the reviews and I must say the reviews about this academy are so right! My instructor Ms. Ross made me so comfortable, I was able to overcome my fear of driving within a weeks’ time. I appreciate the hard work she has put to get me to perfect my driving skills. I got my driver’s license in one go and I nailed the parking without a single point cut . All the credits go to Ms. Ross to build the confidence in me.
