Fantastic experience: This school was a great experience. It took me 4 weeks total to get my CDL A. The front office was great and heplful Lydia, Shardae, and KiKi went above and beyond when ever I asked for help. Chardonee and Ryan really helped me grasp the whole Double shift with manual transmission. Tom was the best with helping learn pretrip and Airbrakes.

Fantastic experience: Mrs. Bakers is fantastic; it's a 3- 5 week program, and you really need instructors who understand their students since everyone learns differently. Chardonee takes the time to teach you what you need to know in them. Being her student for 3 to 5 weeks allows you to gain valuable road and real-world experience.

Positive experience: My experience with Smith and Solomon was interesting but overall good . Some instructors and staff are better than others but I will only speak on the good. Some of the instructors that helped me become a CDL driver and really showed me how to drive were, Ryan and Chardonee they both are great at on the road training and chardonee showed me the ropes with shifting . Thomas also showed me some tips tricks with turning, but my time was shared with him on the road. Now for admissions staff . I feel as though they could pay more attention to the needs of the students . I’m a Veteran using my GI Bill to go to Smith and Solomon . And the VA didn’t get my admission paperwork until a month into the course causing my payments to be delayed 2 months . Other than that I would Go again if I needed To obtain my CDL . Great trucks and training path .

Fantastic experience: From the moment I got to the school everyone was very helpful and supportive. Ben and Chardonee do a great job at making the school run properly, as well as the yard instructors Tom and Thomas who were very helpful and attentive to any questions or concerns that I had. The office staff was very helpful with managing my hours, my payments, etc. Overall had a great experience here and highly recommend to anyone who wants to further their education in becoming a licensed truck driver.

Fantastic experience: I had a wonderful experience at Smith & Solomon Driver School. I enrolled for weekend classes and earned my CDL in a relatively short period of time. The facility includes all necessary equipment to learn and train. The curriculum is mostly hands on and is not very vigorous and can be easily learned. The instructors are knowledgeable, informative, direct and patient. I strongly suggest this school to obtain your CDL. Fantastic experience: First I would like to thank smith& Solomon for the opportunity to acquire my CDL. This school was great the class instructor Tom was whiling to answer and explain whatever questions I had even though we had a tight schedule to keep he was ready and whiling to pause to take time out to make sure I understood. The yard instructors were also very kind but also to the point. Pre-trip inspection was explained and we were walked through as many times as we needed to get familiar and comfortable. The only down side to the yard was not getting as much assistance on the parking maneuvers. I really had to lean on my classmates to get the jist of how to reverse offset and forward offset. I was never actually shown by an instructor due to a lot of students and not enough instructors. My road training went like a breeze. Miss Chardonee made it very easy for me to get comfortable and familiar with shifting the truck as well as turning it. She has a way with her students with her sense of humor and kindness as long as you do what she says not what she does your good to go . I also went out with Thomas he really helped me with my downshifting. I mean I was ruff with that until he broke it down for me. He also took me out extra times to make sure I was ready for test day. Thank you miss Lydia for putting up with my Jokes and childish sense of humor. Mrs Sade and miss kiki your both wonderful woman and helpful even though your behind those office doors you mad a way to make yourselves available and your presence felt.

Fantastic experience: Thumbs up for Chardonee Baker, my trainer who always makes my days fulfilled with joy and confidence to myself for final the road test ! When ever she took me out she brought me a smile to my face that's given me the hope of success even sometimes I made her mad beside my hash maneuvers , she's been patient with me until today I successfully got or passed the final test. Fantastic experience: I've had several experiences at Smith & Solomons; mostly good! Their approach can be a bit "Hands off", this is due to the number of students that in enroll in comparison to the few instructors. But as long as you ask for assistance, these instructors will most definitely make time for you to ensure you're comfortable prior to your road test. One instructor in particular who stood out and assisted me every step of the way was CHARDONEE BAKER. I have to thank Chardonee for her patience, guidance and unwillingness to give up on me during my time with Smith & Solomons. She provided me with plenty of time and opportunities for practical training and knowledge of the trucking industry. I also want to offer thanks to Thomas, Angie & Ben who were very helpful and also pleasant during my time with Smith & Solomons! Campus has easy parking and is in a convenient location. Fantastic experience: Was a student there from Nov 2024 to March 2024. Graduated. They were understanding with a family issue that took me away from class for a few weeks. The staff is amazing. They make you feel comfortable and like you’ve been there forever. Instructor Chardonee Is caring, funny , and gets you where you need to be. It was a pleasure working with her. Truly. Fantastic experience: It has been a good experience, Tom, Tomas, and Chardonee were all very helpful instructors. Tom explained the classroom lessons very well and assisted when possible in the yard, Tomas and Chardonee were very good with the road training and assisting when in the yard as well. Although the to road instructors had slightly different approaches both were very helpful. Tomas is very strong and blunt which makes an impact when needed, while Chardonee was more relaxed but tough which made me catch on to what I was doing wrong. Fantastic experience: I shall say coming in today to schedule my CDL test I was confused if I was testing in a Manuel truck or automatic. While talking to Ms.Chardonee she knew I was indecisive I have explained why to her and she took me out on the road personally in a Manuel truck and I must say I have became more confident in taking my test in the upcoming days. Tom has also been a great instructor he has taught me everything I needed to know for the in cab,outside of the truck, and under the hood I wouldn't take my evalve with no one but him. Joe has also been phenomenal in teaching me how to drive the truck and to properly shift. I would definitely recommend Smith and Solomon to anyone.

Fantastic experience: Almost finished. I'm pleased I made the decision to attend Smith & Solomon. Thank you Mrs Kiki. From the front desk manager Lydia to the back office with Ben the atmosphere is perfect. Family type of approach with the personnel being teacher's while also being personable, and honest. You will feel a real sense of comfort knowing their purpose is to help you achieve your goal of becoming a professional driver. At the end of the day it's up to you, but knowing there's Chardonne, Mrs. Kiki, Sharday, Thomas, Tom, and other's working with you definitely helps to bring the best out of you. The bond that's built between you, and your fellow future pro driver's is special. You will experience highs and lows while thru it all gaining a true support system. I was definitely uncomfortable with the idea of driving big truck's, but to be successful you have to put yourself in uncomfortable situations.

Fantastic experience: Chardonee Baker (Asst. Campus Business Manager) is an excellent trainer/instructor. Very pleasant, answers questions and gives direction and help that one may need. I received a wonderful and informative training experience with her. When it comes to a Smith & Solomon student she is very attentive to help get you through training. I thank her greatly along with the rest of the Smith & Solomon staff. If it was up to me there should be more than a five star rating.

Fantastic experience: I was truly struggling, perturbed, and frustrated after my first few on road driving experiences with one particular instructor. Fortunately, I approached Ms.Chardonee Baker one afternoon and informed her of my plight. She immediately took me out on the road with other more experienced students that afternoon. I didn’t look back after undertaking her teaching approach. I was having an extremely difficult time putting the vehicle into fourth gear, Ms.Chardonee helped guide me into fourth gear one time and it immediately clicked for me. Learning the other aspects of shifting and driving a trailer were a smooth process under her tutelage. I’m truly a believer that God puts individuals in your life at key moments when you absolutely need them, and Ms.Chardonee was introduced into my life in a moment when I was seriously considering whether I would be able to drive a stick shift tractor trailer, and my history is one of perseverance, so quitting is not an approach I consider taking lightly. Passing my driving exam was a reinforcing joyous moment for me that I sincerely needed, and acted as an domino affect as other significant positive revelations followed shortly thereafter in my life. It was certainly not an easy process for me, it was similar to the focus I needed to display in order to obtain my bachelor degree in Political Science and to be elected to the commonwealth of Pennsylvania State Legislature. Thank you to Ms.Chardonee and everyone at the school that help individuals make positive changes in their lives for themselves and their families future.

Fantastic experience: So let me just say I was skeptical at first because of the look at the Norristown yard/lot, but as time went on I learned a lot especially when they hired Mr. Art Deleaver he taught us what we needed to know especially when we get out in the real world, he taught me how to take difficult turns and what to do in certain situations on the road, how to maneuver the truck the right way, he was patient with us and very helpful when it came to us doing our skills. Mr.Art is one of the best instructors Smith and Solomon has especially when it came to learning the manual transmission some of my classmates that drove the manuals passed their first time taking the test, I passed my first time as well remembering what Mr.Art taught me. Mr. John was great as well he’s an old school trucker so he definitely taught us some good stuff for when we get on the road.. over all my experience was great and I would do it all over again if I had to but the only thing I would say was bad was that the lot was horrible n the trucks we learned on where bad, oh and the nasty port a potties that was horrible specially for us ladies, y’all need to fix that part and all will be great.

Positive experience: I called them to see how much it was to attend there and they said the price then they said I have to have my own permit if I could get my own permit I would get my cdl too I need help and they obviously don't offer help so if you don't have your permit on your own they won't help you so don't call them

Fantastic experience: Was the journey to obtain the CDL an easy one? The answer is no, but anything worth doing is not easy. I want to tell you about my experience with Smith and Solomon. The classes were a pleasure. The trainers, some are directed and quite tough, don't just listen to their tone, but to what they want to tell you. They care a lot. If you need help, ask for it, and it should be given to you. In the beginning, I did not understand their way of teaching, it was like the karate kid, you think that you are just shining cars, you know! wax on wax off. Wrong... You are learning how to kick tails, the Smith and Solomon way. To all the amazing staff of Smith and Solomon, I want to say thank you. Fantastic experience: My experience at Smith and Solomon Philadelphia campus was absolutely great. The entire staff were always Pleasant, And answered any question we had. Norman: who taught the class you can tell he enjoyed teaching. We were blessed to have Norman as a teacher he was exciting and kept us on the edge of our chairs with some of his stories. Tom: Who maintained the yard where we practice parking and vehicle inspections. He is a one-man team. No matter how hot it was or if it rained he was out there in the yard with us from beginning till end. Angie. Who was my driving instructor, she is the best, She has knowledge just pouring out of her. Her teaching skills were awesome. She is very respectful and has no problems letting you know when you make a mistake and she works on you until you fix that mistake. There is so much more to Norman Tom and Angie you will have to find out and experience it for yourself it's hard to put in words. Lydia: She works the front desk she is just a doll, she will help you with anything you need, And go above and beyond for you. I also have to give shout outs to Ben, Will, and Karen. They will make sure you know everything you need to know before you take your test. Kiki and sharday: they help you get processed, sweet and respectful, always Pleasant to see and speak to them. Awesome staff thank you all for your help. I will stop in now and then to say hi. Also I had a great class,made new friends and we had cook out's on site, included staff and mad sure Tom ate and had plenty of fluid . Ben thank you and you have a great team....... my class (truckers R US).

Fantastic experience: It's almost 2 months since my husband enrolled to the school, due to an inconvenient he couldn't start, so we asked for refund since day one, now we are almost in July and no money deposited yet, they withdraw the money within second but why it takes more than a month for refund. I'm putting 5 stars on purpose to get someone attention on this matter.

Negative experience: Your 'instructor', the one in the photo's with an yellowish orange shirt on, let one of his students hit a truck and instead of being a decent human being, he tried to drive off, then he started calling the driver horrible names and said he would get beat up. This is unprofessional as it gets. He literally taught his students to drive off if they hit something, and when they're stopped, act like a bigot and call people filthy names.

Fantastic experience: Great place to get your CDL. John is very on point with his evaluations on the students maneuvers. Karen is very very patient on the bobtail & trailer trips. Ben & Bill are very professional & patient when testing the drivers. Mike is very blatant when testing the students on the in cab & air breaks for the fact that he wants to make sure that safety comes first Front office staff is great. I've been driving since the age of 14, & I've only driven manual just a few times in my life. I've learned a great deal of double clutching & the responsibilities that comes along with up shifting & down shifting here at Smith & Solomon. I would recommend anyone to this School. Negative experience: Worse place their is. My husband went to apply and bc he has a language barrier heavy set secretary told him that establishment wasn’t for him. Well guess what recently graduated got his CDL he went to Global CDL School.

Negative experience: Writing this review for the Norristown Campus. The training yard and it’s Instructors are very unprofessional. They play favoritism and really need a whole new staff. I paid almost 5k to teach myself. While the instructors stand around pretending to work. I was scheduled a road test Dec. 16th 2020 and failed. Then rescheduled for another test Jan. 12th 2021. I didn’t feel confident about that test. I asked one of the instructors to walk through the pre trip with me.The day before to find out that there is a checklist for the entire pre trip, maneuvers, and over the road driving. That checklist was never went over with me and should have several times. Throughout the year of me being in attendance. The words of the instructor and his apology. That checklist is put in place to make sure the students are ready for the real test. So I called the instructor to reschedule my test. I have not yet to hear from them. If zero stars was a option that would be my rating. I definitely want and deserve a refund! The better business bureau need to be called!!!

Fantastic experience: Awesome one monkey don't stop no show I have some blemishes on my criminal record so first students rejected my application after I passed all my test and endorsements for my class B CDL. So now I have to pay out of pocket and for me that's not a problem. I overstand that to win you have to be willing to invest in yourself. Smith & Solomon is helping me to do just that.

This is the WORST cdl school ever. I would suggest that all who want to study here, go ask the students that are enrolled there about their experience. I would suggest to go at lunchtime when they are out. Especially about the instuctors TIM in particular. The instructors are all miserable and therefore try so hard to make the students lives miserable as well. Their condescending manner, always putting you down, stomping their feet on your face, and the fact that they never smile make you feel like you're in prison. The instructor named Tim is the worst.. No heat in the winter, no air conditioning in the summer in the trucks and they only want to steal your money. All the trucks are in horrible condition and you will never get the experience you need. Fantastic experience: My personnel experience was great at Smith & Solomon at Philadelphia Location from the start until I got my CDL, thanks to (Lydia,Kiki,ben,bill Jay,Karren,Daniel) they were all great. But I have to give a big thanks to DANIEL for being a great instructor, he was very patient, friendly, understanding and best teacher you could ask for, i learned so much from him that i will keep with me for the rest of my career as truck driver, he has a lot of acknowledge of the business also one of the main things he taught me is SAFETY ( pay attention to all your surroundings, read all the signs, be considerate of the others on the road also obey the law all the time). you can be a truck driver at any other school but to be a professional truck driver Smith & Solomon is you place and DANIEL is your teacher. KARREN she was a great instructor also and I learned a lot from her, specially how to drive a Manual transmission professionally.

Fantastic experience: I just passed my CDL test today and could not be happier! Great group of people down there, the instructors are very knowledgeable and are eager to handle any questions. Before Smith and Solomon i had never driven a manual transmission. One instructor I want to shout out is Daniel, within only going out on the road twice with him I was upshifting and downshifting smoothly. The guy knows what hes talking about and is consistent with the way he teaches. Just like anything else in life you get out what you put in. If you show up to the school and think you're going to pay the tuition and magically its just going to absorb into your brain you're sadly mistaken. It takes hard work, practice and alot of studying to get to where you need to be! Thank you to all the staff and instructors at smith and solomon, and a especially to Daniel he helped me understand the fundamentals.

You can tell that he is one of the instructors that cares and wants to make sure that he is sending safe drivers on the road.
