The Next Street - Westport Driving School

Fantastic experience: Patricia is a patient and kind instructor. I am an adult who is re-learning how to drive after many years living in NYC. Patricia put me at ease, and made me feel less self-conscious about being an older student. She blends the technical and the practical and gave me "homework" so that I could practice on my own. She understands my motivation for taking these classes and gave me many opportunities to prove to myself during our lesson that I can do this. I'm signing up for as many lessons with Patricia as I can.

She tells you how to fix incorrect maneuvers and helps to make the correct ones. she cares about you doing well. she makes sure to go over what you did wrong and tells you what to work on. Negative experience: If you’re a person of color thinking of attending this school for driving lessons or your driving test immediately reconsider. This specific location in westport is disgustingly prejudice to those who aren’t the “appropriate” skin tone. Not only do you experience unfair treatment during driving lessons but you also receive horrific treatment during the test. I mean the absolute slightest thing will cause you to fail. I didn’t get the persons name who I took the road test with today but it was a big caucasian man, with blue eyes (i believe), slightly high pitched voice, and a beard. He’s a disgusting man and when I asked “What improvements would you recco—“ he cut me off and said “Drive better” ripped a paper, gave me a white sheet and said to leave. That’s not how you should treat anyone. His attitude is extremely disgusting and he needs to be fired. This atmosphere of the next street could be uncomfortable if you’re a person of color with all eyes just starring at you as you walk in and sit down. This was my last visit here and I would not recommend.

Fantastic experience: Everyone is super nice! Al Cirigliano was super helpful and answered all my questions about testing.

Fantastic experience: The online and in-person training was great and the final driving test coordinated by Al Cirigliano went so smoothly and eased the nerves of both my son and me! And he passed!!

Fantastic experience: We've had nothing but good experiences with this driving school. Ron Parrs is a phenomenal driving instructor, especially for our child who has some minor disabilities. Ron literally wrote the book on the subject (it's his specialty), and has been patient, gracious, communicative and understanding with someone who needs a little extra time to master a complicated skill. It's not cookie-cutter teaching.

Fantastic experience: The Next Street was easy to work with during this process. I liked always being able to reach a live person to speak with, ask questions of, etc. Lots of options and flexibility for online classes. Driving lesson appointments book quickly so you do need to stay on top of that! The BEST driving instructor ever is Ron Parrs, if you have the opportunity to work with him. Super helpful and a great teacher!

Fantastic experience: We were more than satisfied with The Next Street Westport. Not only were the online classes informative, they were very convenient. The in-person driving classes were hard to schedule because of availability, but once I called, they quickly helped me find alternative times. Most importantly, on the day of my daughter's exam, the Next Street staff in Westport were amazing! They were very calming and helped her confidence tremendously as she nervously awaited to be called. Specifically, Bob Z. was a wonderful host and a kind soul who loves what he does. I recommend Next Street to anyone who is looking to provide their child with a quality experience- you won't be disappointed. Thank you Next Street!

Positive experience: If I could give 0 stars I would! The next street cancelled my daughters scheduled behind the wheel lesson and after a whole week of chasing them they finally rescheduled her to today (Sunday). Only to find that the instructor for this class was a no-show. That’s a 50% failure to deliver so far (she’s only had 1 of her classes actually occur). Their customer service is ineffective to non existent. And good luck trying to reach anyone on a Sunday even if classes are scheduled. Not happy and do not recommend. Update: true to their word, the Next Street called and worked with us to rectify the situation and my daughter received great instruction behind the wheel (and as scheduled). Mike and Patricia were amazing teachers. My daughter passed her driving test last week. Updated to 4 stars!

Fantastic experience: The Next School is a very well organized school, and they have amazing instructors. Mine was Victor. He explained every little detail to me and then sent me all the information after the lesson, so I could review it. He was open to any questions even after the lesson, and he also bought me Starbucks to cheer me up cause I was nervous. He is awesome! I had one lesson with him and passed on my first attempt.

Negative experience: I enrolled at the next street at the beginning of September. I had my zoom classes spaced out until the end of October, the 26 to be precise. I was always on time, put my name in the chat all three times like they request, and answered questions when they asked them. I was not really learning anything but that is because I was (sorry, I AM, have to use present tense as 2 months later, I am still having to do more classes than I was initially told to do) only taking these $799 + tax classes because if you pay money, you only have to wait 4 months to get your license, not 6. I have had not very good customer service, first being how I had to send in photos from me being in class as proof, and then over a month later being told the teacher didn’t see me in class. I have PROOF that I was. But hey, if they work for you, I guess they are always right. I told the last guy who I talked to on the phone who was the most helpful out of a handful of extremely unhelpful customer service people. However I will say I had a good driving experience with Patricia (ask for her, you won’t regret it. You will both learn about proper driving etiquette and about her sons life). I would run over to Fresh Greenlight if I could in an instant. But I’m not about to throw away (I guess I already did signing up for this thing) over $800 over a petty 2 hour class. Overall, if you want to have your child retake classes for the heck of it, go for it. But if you are part of the 99% of the population who doesn’t want that, don’t do this drivers ed course. But of course, the only upside is the tax reduction on your car insurance, and the 2 months that get chopped off of your permit time.

After the lesson, victor went above and beyond by sending my son and myself a review of the lesson with tips, tricks and videos for him to study before his road test! Fantastic experience!

He takes extra steps and time to make sure that the student gets additional knowledge and advice! He suggests youtube videos to further the knowledge of his students. He analyzes the weaknesses of the student and makes sure the student gets better. I would definitely recommend Victor as an instructor at the Next Street!

Negative experience: I put my wife for full driver lesson, the zoom class was great. My wife kept mentioned how great her teacher was (Mr Stroup). All went down the hills when came to behind the wheel lesson. They Office kept changing the instructor and to get The CS1 another story. They made it so hard to get your certificate right on time. The customer service is no where to be found! go somewhere else!

Fantastic experience: WORLD CLASS DRIVER'S ED Licensing a new driver, with all the requirements, including driver's ed, can be a maelstrom of confusion. I had already traveled the gauntlet to get my son's permit (although The Next Street can facilitate this as well), and entered the arena to understand and enroll him in the required driver's ed. I came across The Next Street, a company that is absolutely best in class. I called and was quickly connected to a terrifically informative, organized, caring and delightful representative, who explained the system with an ease that made a potentially complicated project very simple. an excellent start that took away the anxiety I was feeling about getting this right. the program includes both education and the actual driver training all at a very fair price. immediately after signing up, I received numerous emails with tons of beautifully organized details, that made it perfectly clear what all the forthcoming steps would be. this was followed with the good fortune of being enrolled in a class with an extraordinary talent; a teacher who has kept my son engaged with tremendous knowledge, excellent ability to communicate, a great ability to manage mostly teenagers in the zoom class, a sense of humor and a way of entertaining while educating and keeping all enthusiastic. This is truly best in class.

Fantastic experience: Instructor Thane provided an excellent driving school experience. He answered my many questions the best he could and gave many anecdotal examples. Even though Mr. Thane did not always have the information that I was looking for, he allowed me to look up the information and share it with the class. He encouraged participation and gave each student a chance to contribute. I would highly recommend Carl Thane as a driving instructor.
