Shippers' Choice- CDL Training School

Fantastic experience: Great instructors, great teaching methods, great overall. I have nothing negative to say about Shipper's Choice. What I will say is that during my time here, I learned how to safely operate a manual 18 wheeler with zero experience of using a manual transmission or driving a rig. Every instructor helped me in their own way and focused on my weaknesses, it was an experience I'll never forget. I can't say enough positive things, I'll reflect on this learning experience forever. Thank you Shipper's Choice!

Fantastic experience: Rodney, Daniel are good instructors they had help me a lot thru my process eveyr week im progressing with their help!!

Negative experience: My whole class thought Shippers’s was a joke. Vehicles running out of gas multiple times, no shade in record breaking heat, no clean water accessible(REALLY moldy water fountain), trucks are so bad they are illegal to ride on the roads and yet they still do with no brake air pressure, unorganized lessons, contradicting info from instructors, way too many people from the previous class that we had to share time with therefore lessening my classes’ practice time. The list goes on and on. It’s inexcusable conditions like this that make you wonder where all the money is going since it’s 5-6k per student with 20 students per class($1.4M annually).

Fantastic experience: I Started in January 2023 graduated in February 2023. And got my license in another three months. All I had to do is keep on practicing. sometime it was not enough practice time available.but it is what it is. I took it as a challenge, and I got it.don’t get me wrong .every school has its own good and bad but if you properly communicate, since I was becoming a truck, driver or transporter, communication is the most important thing not all the time things will be in your favor, but that’s why we are in school to learn. It’s not just truck driving we learn but overall things that we will be dealing Once becoming a transporter.Believe in yourself and be on it.Rather sitting and complaining. It will just waste your time no matter what school you go if you’re not willing to ask questions no one is going to tell you. So, from my experience, it was a good experience with Shipper’s choice of Virginia. I had spent enough time and keep pushed myself to learn. Trainers were helpful instructors were helpful, but we need to understand if we want to learn some thing we need to ask questions until we learn it, if you show you’re enthusiasm. Trust me they will help you. Rest is on you and your luck. like I said in the school, it’s not just a truck driving we learn to learn overall. And if you have choose to be a trucker, one should make sure you want it. it is not a remote job. There’s gonna be hard work hustle so make sure this is what you want to do. Complaining won’t help. It will only waste your time. I really appreciate Greg,Niguel Tucker, Richard, and last but not the least Kevin. Thank you for all your hard work to train me. Sometime it was harsh, but hey we are here to be a truck driver not a software engineer. Thanks again.keep up the Good work

Negative experience: I am a concerned parent and want my son's experiences to be heard without fear of retaliation. It is hard to understand why the school refuses to allow their paying students to bring their own seating, since none is provided. Being in the hot sun for hours waiting on one truck for the instructional learning of over 20 students, is very uncomfortable to say the least. It would make better business sense to be accommodating to the students' health and well being. Also, the info given in class on what to expect during yard training is definitely conflicting, and dependent upon the mood of the instructors. The schooling environment is unprofessional, needs more consistency, better communication, and organization in order to set their students up for success. And until that is prioritized, I would not spend my money with them.

Negative experience: I would not recommend anyone do run with these guys I reached out to the better business people about these guys. The trucks that they have are not up to part, short staff along with not having enough staff they are very inconsistent. Go to Brightpointe ( old John Tyler ) DO NOT GO WITH THESE GUYS. They are money hungry and doesn’t care about there customers.

Positive experience: If you want it you have to get it. Period. No one will hold your hand here. Rich, Antonio, Will and Mike are excellent sources to learn from. I forgot the guys name who did my road test, but he was cool as well. You will pass the road test if you listen to what he tells you. You have to listen to what he's saying not how he's saying it. Yes the equipment is dated. You will be wet if its summer time without a doubt but you're there to learn not be fly. I will say also, there needs to be more structure. That's my only issue. Other than that, make it worth your money. If you stand around with your mouth closed you will be passed over. Move when you see the instructors move and jump in the seat before you get the keys. Practice the pre trip everyday and you will be fine. Keep your head down and get what you came for.

Positive experience: Went to this school late August and finished my 160 hrs by early October 2022. Funny/informative/friendly group of instructors but the weekend classes gets no love unfortunately.. can be unclear/misguided/nonchalant instructors on the weekends. Students from different classes prior to my 10 weekend class/weekday students comes unannounced and take a majority of the time available from us so its like we the students are fighting for time in the truck. Needs to be more organized, also trucks are outdated.

Fantastic experience: Chris and Daniel, God bless y’all brothers. Truly amazing people, and the best CDL school. Instructors are well knowledgeable, and experienced. After having been graduated three years ago, Chris and Daniel were supremely kind by allowing me to practice one more time on a ten speed manual shift. You do not need to question this school and instructors twice, if you’re serious about your career in the trucking industry.

Fantastic experience: I attended classes here for two days and transferred to another Shipper Chose, closer to my home. I'm sorry about that... because they had wonderful, knowledgeable, friendly... instructors...And Chris...The first person you call on the phone..friendly, reliable, gives you instant information. Instructors are watch you carefully to see if you understand the lesson...."Is there anything you don't understand?"..."Do you have any questions"...They ask you over and over...They do everything for you to learn this job.

Positive experience: I had a good experience overall with the instructors. The only reason I gave 4 stars is no fault of theirs’ … the equipment being available to practice was not sufficient. Need some AC in the trucks during the hot months because it’s hard to focus on maneuvers. And I feel like those that come in with their permit should have more practice in trucks, than those that did not. For maneuvers Jordan- Parallel, Will- straight back and offset, Rich- any, Mike - On road, Antonio - On road, Everett - any (he challenges you to get comfortable with complex maneuvers). If you scared do it anyways you will get comfortable over time. Now Everett runs a tight ship. And he tells you from jump. Let him run his ship, you get your training in. I would suggest if you choose this school come in ready to go. Study your pre-trip, double clutching ahead of class. This will put you ahead of the game! The class moves fast so don’t miss any days and be on time.

Negative experience: Shippers choice is the worst to sign up with they just want your money I really regret it.. don’t make the same mistake I did go with somewhere else trust me

Negative experience: Mr Everett is terrible!!!! He gave my husband the wrong time to take his test & charged $100 to reschedule the test. He lied about the time that was scheduled. He is very unprofessional. Terrible instructor

Positive experience: I recently finished and passed the test. Didn't agree with everything that was said or done, but at the end of the day, you learn whats necessary to pass the Dmv test. Some of the instructors know what the're talking about ( Antonio, Jordan, Rich, ). They will have you driving, shifting with confidence, and with no prior experience. All YOU have to do is listen. The recruiters Kevin and Chris are great, and full of energy. They genuinely want you to succeed. Overall it was a good experience. You get to network, build friendships with good people, and learn how to " slide em". One main guy has control issues, (Everett) but if you can get pass him you can drive a 53 footer. -Hawk Blade

Negative experience: The worse school ever!! This school will set you up for failure !! Unorganized, unprofessional Poor communication. And one cocky rude man name Keith Evert!! How this school receives 5 stars reviews are beyond insane. My boyfriend has attended this school after completing his training he didn’t feel confident because of lack of dive time but he did pass his pre trip test he had troubles getting an actual date set to take his CDL test after weeks of back and forth and emails he Finally got an actual date but still had to wait two months to take his test without any additional training even asking can he come and practice which they never had any dates available….So please beware of this school fyi if this school closes for anything you WILL NOT BE NOTIFIED….. good luck And GOD BLESS!!!

Fantastic experience: 1 year today and I have to share my experience with this school. I enjoyed the atmosphere and how down to earth the instructors were. Special shout out to Raul. He was professional and patient from the very beginning. I highly recommend this school and have already told others to sign up!

Negative experience: The worst school in Virginia do not waste your money on this school the school need to be investigated all they do is take your money and leave you in debt go to Carolina Cdl it’s 2500 and they teach you and care about you with good trucks do not go to shippers choice I warned you

Fantastic experience: Shippers Choice was a great school, I learned a lot of lessons from each instructor which lead me to succeed. I was one of the students that didn’t know anything about trucks when came in and left a experience truck driver. Highly recommend Shippers choice!!!

Negative experience: Currently enrolled here at the Chester VA location on my second week.. Long story short this place is very low class. The equipment is junk, the facilities are nasty, and the instruction is almost non existent with little to no organization. As far as instructors, James, Chris, and Antonio are pretty cool, but the others might as well not be there. Joe is a waste of time and space. He does nothing but talk about when he was driving (his tickets and screw ups), plays on his phone, and talks about what he's going to drink when he gets home. Very unknowlegable of what's going on as well and would rather tell you how he feels about something instead of telling you how it needs to be. We get zero help with pre trips, nobody walks with us to make sure it's right or to correct you. When we practice backing maneuvers, James is the only truly helpful one. But for the most part you are still left to figure it out on your own with the instructors just standing around B.S.ing. Nobody has even touched the actual road yet, and with only 2 or 3 working trucks and 15+ students I doubt we will get much road time. This place is very unorganized, poorly maintained, and I'm sitting here wishing I had gone elsewhere. They're quick to take your money for various things but not quick to jump in and show you how things should be done. Hoping and praying I can learn enough on my own to pass the CDL test. May seem blunt but it is what it is and they'll likely say I'm not enrolled here or in their records like most of the other negative reviews. I'll be happy to prove them otherwise. Go elsewhere if you want to get your CDL.

Fantastic experience: Graduated from Shippers Choice in Spring of 2018. Paid my dues by driving regionally (in 26states), as an “Over The Road” driver. I drove for over two years with only two different companies. Now I’m driving local. You have to be patient as a student and a driver. Shippers Choice has great drivers that will teach you what you need to know, what you need to learn and how to be a master of your trade. It’s up to you to make the best decisions, in your life and as a driver. You ARE the Captain of your Ship!!! Driving will bring you the quality of life that other jobs fall short on. As a new driver, sticking with it, planning and setting goals will make you successful in the long haul (pun intended). Shippers Choice is the stepping stone for a better future for you AND your family. I heard a driver once say, “This is the easiest, hardest job you will ever have.” And, it’s true. Where else can you sit, drive and see different sunrises and sunsets in different states and make money all day? Before you start classes at Shippers Choice, get your CDL Learners AND DOT Health Card. You’ll be driving on the first day of class! This will change your life!

Fantastic experience: Real good school that will give you the important fundamentals on the trucking industry. If you are self motivated this is the perfect place for you. They will teach you but will NOT hold your hand. Getting your learners permit ahead of your school start date will drastically change your experience at Shippers Choice. The equipment is sufficient for the learning process. The staff and recruiting team are informative and willing to help you if you are helping yourself. I had never driven a truck or a manual gear shift before attending this school. I passed my cdl test on the first attempt so that says a lot. I would recommend this school to anyone who is serious about getting your Cdl.

Fantastic experience: I’ve seen and heard a lot of mixed reviews before attending this school, but in all I will say my time here was great. From recruiters, front desk and instructors everybody wants to see you get in and get out with your license. People who didn’t come in with or got their learners later have to do extra time to make up for not holding it a certain amount of days or being able to get on the road, of course. Pass your learners, pass your DOT and they will do anything possible to help you, but they can’t help you if you don’t help yourself. Negative experience: Horrible experience wouldnt recommend at all. Instructors are all over the place. Barely any drive time. Dmv requires 40hours but they only give you 5 15min sessions on the road. You only get to practice backing maybe twice a day because the class has 30students and only 2 instructors running 2 trucks. You spend more time standing around than actually behind the wheel od the truck. Instructors make inappropriate comments often. As well as Anytime i asked someone to shadow me while i did my pre trip cody was the only one to do it every time i asked. The others told me they were tired of hearing it. Owner needs to develope an lesson plan to go by so they wont be all over the place and contradicting each others statements. One instructor says this is ok the other instructor says he is wrong and it constantly goes back and forth like that so im not sure who is right about the information.

Positive experience: Too much information, not enough time. The instructors each had their own way of teaching but they didn't teach me the wrong way to get my CDL. I wish I had my CDL learner's permit before class started but you live and learn. Overall, good people that gave me good information including the receptionist and the recruiter.

Positive experience: I went through all 20 days went 3 days the week after my class, and passed the test on the 4th day. That is the absolute fastest you can get your license (I still went to dmv the day after the test to get the paper copy) My point is its a journey if you can't get your learners before the class starts be ready when it does! You will need at minimum around $200 more than the minimum of $500 for the class to get your license. I'm not the norm! This will take 2 to 3 months on average. The class however will give you what you make out of it. I didn't miss a day and had pre trip by week 2. The instructors, Tony and Everett are the life blood of this school they know what they're talking about and I found that the other instructors all had something to contribute. Even my least favorite saved me on the test with something they had said. IF YOU CANT PASS A HAIR TEST cdl isn't for you unless you have a company set up. Thank you again to the instructors they definitely were the reason I could pass. I only gave 4 stars because I believe the school should train you on the same trucks they teach you on and the training trucks are messed up but the students will litteraly grind a gear for mins. If you do go here go to the chester location for some reason manassas is not the same and they teach way too much on the pretrip!

Negative experience: Well I went there for a week back in 2018. Found out I didn’t have a license to even drive my car so I stop going bc I couldn’t drive my car let alone a truck. I never got into a truck. But I’m going to court for full reimbursement and I didn’t learn much. Such a rip off. Why do I have to go to court for a class I didn’t get much experience in

Positive experience: Not the best equipment, but there are some instructors there that would help you every step of the way. I Would recommend.

Positive experience: The instructors were great. All of them have their own approach to training, which is a good thing. They’re all very helpful. Administration was also very helpful. If I could change one thing, I think the class size could have been a little smaller, so that you get a few more reps on your maneuvers. There is a lot of value in watching someone else do the maneuver and thinking through how you would do it, but it’s not the same as actually sitting in the driver’s seat for an extra repetition or two. Overall, I’d say Shippers’ Choice is a great choice.

Fantastic experience: After many frustrating calls and some disappointing visits to truck driving schools around VA, I was so relieved to find Shippers' Choice Manassas. My first impression of the place was positive. Reception was welcoming and informative, and I was able to walk the grounds and chat with students and Instructors. The Instructors are knowledgeable and the lead "Constantine" watches your progress and makes sure you get what you need. Don't be shy, and ask for more help if you feel you need it. They'll take care of you. It was a cool experience and I passed the class A CDL test first go. Well done and thank you to the whole team in Manassass. Good questions to ask CDL training schools while shopping around: 1. What happens if I'm not ready for the test at the end of the course? 2. What happens if I fail the test? 3. What if I want to do a refresher a year or two after the course?

Positive experience: I want to say that the instructors I had to deal with taught me quite a bit. These guys Tony,Raul,Joe taught me well. Preparing me with the tools to get ahead. Tony your years of experience is awesome. Raul you as well have so many years behind you. Joe your experience has put some real insight on how crazy it is on the road. These guys got high praises from me. Raises to them all...I say. Thanks Again!)

Positive experience: To start, the teachers are very knowledgeable, and were a big help walking me through getting my learners and familiarizing myself with the industry. However, there just aren't enough of them. Make the most out of every moment while there because there's hardly enough time to grasp the subtle nuances involved in successfully manoeuvring the vehicle. In short: great in the classroom and for job placement but lacking in ample hands-on exposure. And you're definitely better off getting your learners permit before hand. Study with "CDL Prep" by Jeffery Diaz. I would encourage you to inquire about student to teacher ratios with any school you consider. As for Shipper's Choice: I attended their school and, afterwards, successfully passed my DMV CDL qualification test; so as far as I'm concerned the school did right by me. Fantastic experience: I did the full time class. If you put in the work and listen to the instructors you will succeed. Me and two other classmates all tested early and passed. Listen and work hard. Fantastic experience: Shippers choice is THE BEST CDL training school in central Virginia .. the instructors are amazing and work with you regardless of your experience level .. they are patient and very good at what they do .. if you want your CDL this is the school to come to .. if you apply yourself you will get your license in the 4 weeks your training

Negative experience: Worst School, All about the money. My husband has to wait until he takes his road test until Idk when and no ones giving any answers but it’ll be in January sometime!! I knew he shouldn’t of went here!!!! On top of that he can’t even stick around to brush up on his training before he takes the road test. All they say is we will notify you when it’s your time to test!! Like really!! Oh k I bet I find some where else for him to test sooner. Maybe y’all shouldn't have so many students in 1 class and then maybe you could handle them all!!

Fantastic experience: Had a marvelous experience at Shippers in Chester VA. I passed at DMV this week earning my Class B CDL license and I am ecstatic! Staff at Shippers are educated, supportive and share one goal - seeing their students pass! I initially chose this school as they worked around my full-time job as an ER nurse however I soon found that I'd rather be in their classes than at work. I was able to train and practice until I felt comfortable enough to test. And I made it! Thanks so much Shippers for helping me accomplish my dream.

Fantastic experience: Got my CDL yesterday and am so grateful to have come to this school. Meeting Kevin was a blessing as he gave me all the knowledge and support to start and finish the program successfully. Positive experience: Good school! Chris is a great recruiter, that was honest and straight to the point, he told me my test date would be 1 month - 1 1/2 months from the time I finished class however I tested and passed 2 weeks after class was over. The instructors are great also, they have a variety of instructors to match your learning ability they all have their own expertise. Shout out to Everett, Tucker, Raoul, Tony, Joe, Dale and Ray (my instructors). If you come willing to learn you will leave a commercial driver. Fantastic experience: From the start the staff was very good with informing me of the process and all I needed to complete this course on in a timely fashion. The instructors were all very good to me and always helpful answering all my questions to make sure I was prepared for my big test day. I would recommend this school for anyone looking to get into the trucking business!

Fantastic experience: From the initial phone call, until I received my Class A CDL license, the staff at Shippers Choice were very professional and genuinely cared about my well being and future! The front office made sure that I was getting exactly what I needed out of the program. The instructors went out of their way to make sure I understood the general knowledge and worked with me on my problem areas while driving the truck. When I passed the CDL certification at DMV, everyone at Shippers Choice was genuinely happy for me! Negative experience: I recently attended this school and they will reply saying I’m not a real student because I’m not using my real name I was promised I would test and as soon as I finish the class they are all of a sudden backed up so do your research before choosing this school it’s caused me a lot of hard ship the instructors are really cool but 15 minutes of road time is not going to help people learn how to drive well it’s kind of irritating because if you fail they charge you 100 dollars to practice they’re quick to take your money but not to make you successful

Positive experience: This school was a great learning experience for me. You really got to want it to get it. The instructor's were very helpful, but you can't be shy. You have to ask questions. Overall I got my cdl and would recommend anyone to come to this school.

Fantastic experience: Great school for people eager and focused to learn. I appreciate all the help I got from shippers choice and all the instructors who helped me with getting my CDL license. Dale is great with his teaching. I never drove a manual car let alone a truck. By the 2-3 day of class Dale had me shifting like I’ve been doing it for years. Zeke is great with teaching how to do backing maneuvers. He teaches you how to back a tractor trailer in one try. He help me a lot with understanding how the truck moves. Tuck is great with showing you points to look for when backing. He helped me with knowing what to look for that would make the backing maneuvers easier. Raul and Tony very knowledgeable of trucking and help me with details on my pre-trip that got me to know it like the back of my hand. All great instructors that give you the tools needed to get your CDL. Kevin was a great recruiter who encouraged me and gave me his word on what the class will do for me and how he will help me and he kept his word. Mrs. Hope is great with everything. She helped me with little details to remember while driving. Also helped me when my test came but telling me to make sure to check once, twice, three times to make sure I don’t miss anything on my pre-trip. She was very helpful in the whole process of me getting my CDL. Overall this is a great school that I will recommend to other people to get there CDL. Thank you shippers choice.

Fantastic experience: It was a great experience. But you have to come with the right attitude. If you think it's enough to pay the money and everything will just fall in place and instructors will do all the work for you - not gonna happen. You need to put effort, listen, ask questions, take time to learn, be patient and be ready to use each and every opportunity to practice. Show respect to people around you and don't take criticism personally. Knowledgeable and experienced instructors are there, so do your part and you'll get a CDL.

Fantastic experience: This school was great for me & helped me so much in getting my CDL.I learned alot from every instructor & was given all the tools & knowledge needed.They wont give up on you if you dont give up on yourself.I would suggest this school to anyone who truely wants to earn their CDL

Negative experience: Overall it’s a good school but Dale is gonna be the down fall on that place because he uses bad language and talks to students any kind of way. I was personally offended by some of his comments towards me.

Fantastic experience: Great from day one! Have a hard shell on because it is a learning process and don’t take any criticism to heart. They want you to be the very best that you can be. You are driving the biggest vehicle on the road and you need to remember that when instructors are getting you right!

Fantastic experience: Truck driving is what you make it. Getting hands on experience from retired drivers and drivers that are currently driving was very beneficial to me. I was taught everything i need to know from the instructors at this driver school and given all the support II needed from the staff. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience here and if given the opportunity to go through CDL training again I would choose this school.

Fantastic experience: Good school, they will teach and prepare you to get your CDL. I caution those considering a CDL to make sure this is what you want to do. I saw students that really didn't apply themselves and I wondered why they spent the money. You have to do some basic things, show up on time, listen, ask questions when you don't understand, study (pre-trip) and apply yourself. If you're not fully prepared to do those things you will not be successful. All the instructors went out of their way to help me when I asked. Special thanks to Tony, TJ and Dale for taking the time when I was struggling. I see many complaints about the equipment. It's fine, it's not new and gets driven hard unintentionally by people learning to drive a commercial vehicle. My observation was school was aggressive in making sure equipment was available for the next days training. Enough equipment is an issue due to space and class size so you will be standing around waiting to get in a truck. Don't pass up any opportunity to get in the truck. I got more than most by being right there ready to get in a truck and practice while others goofing off, getting warm etc. The only thing I didn't like was the DMV testing scheduling. When I talked with recruiter I was told 2-3 weeks after class completion. First day of class was told 2-3 months. I waited 6 weeks. During the wait they let you practice 1 day week for 4 hours, then 2 days before your test. I don't think this is enough and equaled a short trip on the road and 2-3 backing maneuvers, per week. For most it's just not enough to maintain the newly developed skills. So again, don't pass up on any opportunities to get in the truck. If you're like me you'll need all the opportunities you can get to be successful. In summary good school, I recommend and they will deliver.

Fantastic experience: This is a great place to learn how to drive a CMV. All of the instructors are very knowledgeable and will work with you on any issues like backing, double clutching ect. I am very happy with this school. I had a blast the whole time.

Negative experience: The instructors aren’t good, they aren’t any help I wouldn’t recommend this trucking school. And they take forever to get you a test date I’ve been waiting to take the test for 7 months now.

Fantastic experience: I attended this school and obtained my CDL. I would not have been able to do so with out the help of all the instructors. George,Tony,Dan,Dale, and TJ all took the time to help me improve and perfect the techniques. They can only do so much as instructors though and you have to be willing to put the time and energy in to actually learn and perfect it. Hope in the front officer will take the time and help you find companies to apply for that best match what you are looking out of a company.

Fantastic experience: Shippers choice was my best choice. I was a rookie to the trucking industry until shippers choice instructors blessed me with there expertise. TJ, Tony, Daniel, George, Dale, Chris, & Steve. Also let’s not forget about the office team! Chris, Dale, Hope, Jennifer, Kevin, & Barry. I had the drive & dedication to succeed, but if it wasn’t for the entire staff of shippers choice believing in me, encouraging me, and putting so much time and effort in me; I wouldn’t have made it as far as I did. The support offered here is absolutely amazing. Also I failed my first time testing with DMV. I was in shock! Thanks to Chris the recruiter, my spirits was up lifted and I was back in the trucks practicing preparing for my next test date. I practiced, practiced, practiced and practiced even when I didn’t have a test date because you never know when you may randomly get a call asking if you’re ready to test. I made sure I was ready at all times! I received that call for my next test date and I PASSED!!! The key is to practice no matter what and communicate with the instructors and office staff. Shippers choice is here for the people/students. Thank you shippers choice team for all you have done for me and my future!

Negative experience: Chris was very helpful and professional getting my then fiance started. We were super excited to get him started in school. Sad to say he did not graduate. After completing the class he had to wait two months for his test with NO PRACTICE DAYS that he was told he would have up until then. He took his test at random by calling the receptionist repeatedly until he was able to "fit in" where he could. After not being able to make payments for the loan after the class there was a hold put on him so he was unable to retest. Feel more like its a setup for failure than success. No communication, trucks in badly need of repair, no refund of any kind, no second chance. Just a huge loan to pay for nothing. AS I STATED I DID NOT ATTEND BUT MY HUSBAND DID. THE FACTS ARE NO ONE BOTHERED TO HELP, NO ONE WANTED TO RETURN CALLS. YOU GUYS ARE ALL ABOUT THE MONEY.

Fantastic experience: Highly recommend this school if you're serious on getting your CDL. I had an awesome experience when i was in training. The instructors are awesome and have great stories, they made the learning experience great and made driving trucks for the first time stress free. These guys will not hold your hand, they can only guide you so far and teach you what techniques to use, the rest of the learning is on you and your effort. I've combined all their techniques to pass my CDL skills test on my first try. they have 5 trucks, 3 of them are backing and 2 of them are on the road. although i knew stick shift prior, they teach you how to double clutch in the most easiest way possible. It is best to have your medical card and permit prior to coming here if you are truly serious on getting your CDL but if you don't, not to worry, they will teach you what you need to know to pass your written test to get the permit. I will recommend this school to my friends and family if they want a CDL. they have trucking recruiters come by speak to you and the class, which gives you more options are there for you to decide which company you want to go for. these guys want each and every student to be successful, as long as you don't give up on yourself, they wont give up on you. the DMV is backed up, and my advice is if you want a sooner date, you determine that by showing them how ready you are on backing and driving. they will do everything they can to get you a sooner date; also they will let you practice due to the dmv lag and practice for 2 days before the test to sharpen your skills and to knock off any rust. I was serious on getting my CDL as quickly as possible, and although the DMV lag was bad, i was able to get in the DMV test date quickly due my seriousness. worth every penny and worth the experience. they will make sure everyone succeeds

Fantastic experience: Shippers choice is a great school with great instructors. I knew nothing about tractor trailers before I attended shippers choice but with the help of Tony, George, T.J., and Daniel I got what I needed to pass my Dmv test and feel confident about driving a big rig. Along with the instructors Mrs. Hope, Dale, and Chris where excellent at helping me find the right company for me. I went to shippers choice with nothing and left with a class a cdl and a extended family. Shippers choice is an excellent school I highly recommend them.

Excuse me if that fell on the NN location this is all about the Chester VA office. My husband went to the school which is why you don’t see my name. I decide to put your school on blast for the inconvenience you caused my family. Further more you will also be receiving a complaint from BBB as well. It’s already been filed so let’s see if you think that’s fake Fake Fake as well. Again I say why will you schedule some one to pay money and train on a class B truck that will be out all day for people who are testing. You have one class B truck and a model truck. Ridiculous!

Fantastic experience: There is so much to say about my experience and the instructors at Shipper's Choice that I cannot possibly type it all. I had a wonderful learning experience going from knowing nothing about a combination vehicle to being able to name about every part of the Truck and Trailer. Ms. Laura is the "CDL Human-Hand Book" and she is filled with unlimited knowledge, experience, and wisdom of truck driving. She was always patient and willing to answer any question asked, and pretty much has a close relationship with almost every trucking company you can think of. I didn't have a learner's permit when I started at the school. When I tested at DMV for my permit ever question that was asked, Ms. Laura covered in the classroom portion and was also in my notes that she encouraged us to take. The hands-on portion of the class (On the Driving Range and Road) was challenging but fun. All the instructors were great and each gave their own personal technique on how to perfect straight backing, offset parking, and parallel parking. This is very helpful because one specific way doesn't always work for all. Out on the road was terrifying the first time, but through the direction and encouragement of the instructors "IF YOU LISTEN AND FOLLOW DIRECTIONS!" you will be driving well in no-time. On the day of my DMV CDL examination, I felt ready and really had no reason to be nervous or scared because I was prepared and I was taught what I needed to know to be successful. I passed my DMV Test the first try. I am truly grateful and thankful for the time each instructor invested in helping me succeed. Thank you Tony, Keith, George, Daniel, Joe, and Gunny for everything. I also want to say thank you to my recruiter Chris helping me make this all possible. Special shot out and thanks to Barry Braxton who was always present and seen around the school checking on the students to see if we needed anything. Thanks to Shipper's Choice and its history I was hired as a full time driver before I even started my class......Now that is reason enough to give this place a try, I definitely have NO-regrets.
