Fantastic experience: I have been diving for 20 years so I finally wanted to get my teenage daughter and niece certified. I decided to go with Southpoint Divers for my girls to do their PADI Open Water. We connected with Kimberly Platt, one of the dive instructors. She was amazing!!!. she spent allot of time with them in the pool, the boat and hands on in the water. I was very happy with her professionalism, and patience. the combination of weather and ear problems caused us not to be able to finish at first pass, but I plan to go back to the Keys, just so the girls can wrap up with Kim. On the boat, the captain and other dive master working the deck we also very attentive and professional. Would happily dive with them again. give them a try.

Fantastic experience: We did the afternoon reef dives, 1 certified diver and 2 people doing their check out dives, we all dove with Kimberly. Kimberly did a great job managing all of the checkout divers underwater and clearly explaining the process for each skill they needed to complete and what we would be expecting on the dives she also did a great job as a guide for the certified divers. The boat itself was very well equipped and had plenty of room for everyone’s belongings and a large cooler for any snacks or drinks brought along. I’ve dove with captains corner, and lost reef, and I enjoy both of those companies a lot, and would happily dive with them again, but southpoint is probably my first choice now given the experience we had. If you dive at 9ft stake look for a scubapro weight pocket by the mooring line lol

Excellent service in - the shop or over the phone, the boats, the Dive Masters and Instructors or guides. When you don't dive often, this is the Place and the people you want to help you have a smooth and wonderful experience. Great for all ages! We have mid 60s to mid 20s in our diving family, and these guys relate to them all. WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND SOUTPOINT DIVERS!

Fantastic experience: I was looking for a dive shop in Key West. A buddy from Key Largo, who is a dive professional, chose them. I figured if they were good enough for him, they were good enough for me. My buddy was right. They have a very good operation. I was very well taken care of by the crew. The Captain was very careful to protect the divers from strong current on the Vandenburg. Their boat is an easy walk from the shop. If you get there before they open there will be street parking for a fee from the City of Key West. If you get there later in the day there is a private pay lot about two blocks away near Divers Direct. Dive with Southpoint Divers in Key West. You'll be glad you did.

Fantastic experience: This was my first scuba experience. Palmer was my group's instructor at the pool and guide for the dive. He was friendly, knowledgable, and patient. We had such a good time and saw lots of cool wildlife - we'll be back!

Fantastic experience: I went diving twice with these guys. Dive Master Bill showed me a great time. We went through the Vanderburg wreck which was awesome. I definitely suggest bringing a dive light with those tight corners. We also did some reef diving while the rest of my family snorkeled. My mom scared the crew a bit by screaming bloody murder when I grabbed her fin from below hahaha. I definitely want to go diving with this crew again!

Fantastic experience: Fantastic shop right on the waterfront! I participated in the 2024 I.CARE Trash Derby with them, Patty and Kim ran a great operation and kept everything well handled despite the big crowd. Their boat captain, Tropical Mike, was professional and super friendly, made it a great trip to/from the sites and got everyone their rental gear quick and accurately. Dive Guide Tommy was super fun and competent, never felt unsure of expectations from him. Absolutely look at South Point for your diving trips, I sure will in the future!

Negative experience: The guild tour was nice and very friendly but unfortunately we got sea sick and because of it we couldn't enjoy the trip I wouldn't book again just because when I called in order to talk about the booking and address my concern I was greeted by a very rude individual instead of understanding the situation and trying to come up with solution she said everybody get sea sick and it's my problem. I think you should understand the circumstance especially if it's your first time doing something like that

Fantastic experience: Completed my Advanced open water PADI cert with them, including two dives to the Vandenberg and four reef dives. Shop staff is very friendly. Dive instructors were thorough, safe, and funny. They're upfront with what's required to have for equipment. Boat was spacious and had a hose to spray down if needed. I felt like I was in great hands with Tommy, and additional wisdom from Aaron throughout. Boat captain was also very regimented with safety protocols. 10/10 would recommend for repeat recreational dives or completing a certification with them.

Fantastic experience: We had a wonderful experience using South Point. We did a day with them, dive in the USS Vandenberg, and we did a reef dive. The staff was super professional, very informative, and explained the Dives in detail. The Vandenberg is quite an experience. I'm not typically a deep diver just to the fact I enjoy my bottom time, but if you've never done it, you definitely need to stop in here and check it out with SPD.

Fantastic experience: If you are diving in Key West, you absolutely must choose Southpoint Divers. I've been diving with them since 2014 and they are my go-to dive service when exploring the coral reefs around Key West and diving the Vandenberg. This company is also dedicated to giving back to the community by supporting youth diving programs, marine debris removal projects, and coral reef restoration operations. I trust them with my students and my family, and that is why I highly recommend Southpoint Divers!

Fantastic experience: Completed our final dive for AOW at the Vandenburg. It was an amazing dive our instructor Kim was awesome she made it like a walk in the park. Led us through some awesome pass throughs. The pheonix and her captain made it a true pleasure to ride aboard ship. Would highly recommend Southpoint Divers.

Fantastic experience: We (one adult and two underages of 12 and 14) took part to their 1-day discover scuba diving program and it was a truly awesome experience. The crew was lovely and we could see that security is an important matter in their job. They took us on two really nice spots with an amazing wildlife to see (and respect)! Would a 100% recommand.

Fantastic experience: Did my AOW with Tommy and Southpoint. Fantastic operators and great instruction. There was a boat issue one day and they proactively got us booked with another operator and handled all the logistics. Would definitely dive here again! (Reef is not terrific but the Vandenberg was awesome)

Everyone I dealt with, from Patty at the shop to Captain Mike, to our instructor Tommy did a fantastic job. I will not hesitate to recommend this shop to everyone I know coming to Key West.

Fantastic experience: Our first time diving Key West. From Patty in the dive shop to Mike the boat captain to Tommy our dive master, we have nothing but good things to say about this dive operation. We were treated personably yet very professionally. I felt the safety taken with our party was second to none. Can’t say enough about our dive master Tommy, he was capable, empathetic, worked very hard at resolving individual issues, and was the epitome of what a dive master should be. Negative experience: I am really disappointed with Southpoint divers, we booked the day before, registered in the shop; due to doing this we were told we did not need to turn up early to the shop at 730am and can meet them at the boat for 8am. When we turned up we were told by the captain that we're tight on time and should have arrived at the boat for 730am. There were 5 of us customers, the captain and Kim our guide. I am a Divemaster, my friend a newish AOW, two men who were confident divers, not sure of their certs and a fairly new OW with 8 dives. We were given a dive briefing upstairs at the front of the boat where it was very windy, and the sun was behind the guide so it was very hard to hear and see her. We were all squinting and holding hands to our ears to listen. We were told we would dive the Vandenberg Wreck, which at 30m I thought was a bit odd given that the new OW is only certified to dive 18m, she even expressed that this would be her deepest dive and that she was nervous. We were not told to buddy up or do any buddy checks, which is fine with me as I am a confident diver, but I was surprised that the solo OW diver was not buddied up with the guide. Kim went in beforehand to set up the line and mentioned a strong current, that we should all hold the line to go down. I had some sinus issues so had to take it slow, Kim didn't seem to understand, seemed quite impatient with me and was rushing down. After the dive the OW girl said she was glad we were taking it a bit slower because of me. The current was strong going down and we had to hold onto the rope rather tight, once we got down the current wasn't so bad, but my friends weights had fallen out (which had been set up by the guide) so she had to chuck in her extra weights to keep her down. But the OW diver was also struggling with her buoyancy, me and the other two experienced divers were fine lower to the bottom as there was less current, within two minutes of being down there I hear the guide making loud noises and point up to something, I thought she must've spotted something cool so we all went up to see, only to notice she was on the line making us all go up. I never once saw her action to abort the dive or to go onto the safety stop on our second dive. A high price to pay for a 2 minute dive, and once we came up we realised all of our hands were hurting, for the captain to say it was probably fire coral on the line. We were not offered any medical help; hot water or vinegar, or any apology for it. Kim just said she should've realised the current was 'too strong' for a dive. I will say Captain Drew was lovely and offered us gloves for the second dive, only it was too late really. All 5 of us had really sore itchy hands, and I had noticed the guide had her gloves on in that first dive, so she knew and could've advised us all before we went down. The second dive we managed a 40 minute dive, but again after I mentioned to her on the boat about my sinuses and she said she'd take it slower, she didn't. It felt as if she just wanted to get it all over and done with. I thought with the first dive being a write off she'd try scope out any cool fish/inverts etc to make up for it. But she was so hands off, didn't point out a single thing and was just there watching us. I'm just really not sure why we were pushed to pay for a guide. There was also nowhere to wash your personal gear, only a tank for computers/cameras, there isn't anywhere to leave your gear but the store on the dock they use - but obviously this is locked whilst they're out on other dives, so we had to leave wet, unwashed wetsuits in our car. When we got back to the shop, I think it's Patty the owner? responded to our first dive as 'an experience' and no apology. Overall just a bad experience and a lack of good customer service. Was very disappointing for my first dives in the USA. It has been a week since and we are still all suffering with our fire coral injuries, doing everyday tasks let alone lugging around a suitcase has been difficult. And the OW girls has got infected that she's now on antibiotics.

Negative experience: Very Poor experience with this dive shop. Does not take safety as top priority. As a dive shop that regularly takes customers to ship wreck, it should be a requirement to communicate that the descent and ascent involves holding a rope covered with barnacles and fire coral. As part of this, gloves should be provided if a customer purchases full gear set (which I did). I went on this dive and the result is two infected hands (photo attached) because of the tears from holding the rope covered in fire coral, which was not communicated during the safety. Also not included in the safety was a buddy check, which I did not have a buddy so it should have been with the guide I paid extra for. One of the girls lost her weights underwater bc of the failure of the paid guide to do a safety check. Another overlook and miss in safety was not calling the dove due to current. After the instructor evaluated the water, she made the decision to take us down (very rapidly) only to turn us back around when we reached the boat because of current. She admitted to the fact that she should have called it from when she originally did her check. Also, When I say rapidly descending , I got sinus squeeze which has never happened before and my mask filled with blood. Another diver was in excruciating pain on the decent, which was apparent yet we proceeded at the rapid pace. When we tried to pause to wait for the other diver to address the pressure she was experiencing in her ears, the guide was frustrated and pushing everyone along to continue descent. I called the shop after going to the doctor today to inform them of the fact that I had an infection from the fire coral. They told me that it’s not their problem. The women who works the front desk is very unprofessional and does not address concerns but rather talks over you. I would recommend another dive shop that makes safety a priority.

Fantastic experience: Went on four reef dives with the Southpoint Team. Drew the captain was great. Made sure that we dove different reefs over the couple of days we were with them. Tommy our dive master was excellent. He was able to point out many sea creatures that we might have missed without him. Thanks Drew & Tommy

Fantastic experience: Originally called inquiring about a public charter that could accommodate our group with both snorkeling and scuba divers, and they could! Great experience from start to finish! Mid September is part of low season so my group of 4 was lucky enough to be the only ones on the boat! I hadn't been scuba diving for a little bit, but my guide made me feel so comfortable. Had 2 great dives! Captain Tropical Mike, Tommy, and Palmer were amazing! 10/10 and will definitely be coming back! Thanks again guys!

Fantastic experience: After my son and I got our open water certification with another dive shop in town, we started using Southpoint for our recreational dives. We enjoyed our experiences so much we then used Southpoint to get our Advanced Open Water certs. The family feel of the shop is evident and all of the staff we have interacted with our friendly, helpful and very knowledgable, especially Tommy McKinnon. Their boat is the only dive boat on the island with a fully covered deck. Highly recommend for any diving experience and/or training.

Fantastic experience: Had a great time. I did both the morning wreck and afternoon reef. This team really caters to all experience levels. As a solo diver with hundreds of dives, they matched me up with a buddy of similar skill and experience. The crew gave us the info we needed to have a great dive and let us go. For the less experienced divers, they were very hands-on, assisting with setup and tank swaps. Overall, it's probably the best dive boat crew I've been out with.

Fantastic experience: Southpointe Divers is what I would call a premier dive company. We booked 3 dive trips over 2 days with them. We attempted the Vandenberg Wreck but due to unsafe conditions we were not able. We were able to dive a different wreck. Even though we missed the Vandi safety was always the main goal of every trip. I respected the captain and his decisions due to his expertise as well as his crews. We dove with Aaron on one of the wreck dives and if you want to dive with someone that's the guy. The other crew was great and all were top notch but our experience was with him. He has a very tactical mindset on how to dive the wreck and his safety brief is thorough. You know what moves are being made and how the dive will go. He is all about safety and if you want a successful dive he's the one. We can't wait to come back and dive again and hopefully get the Vandi. Overall don't waste your time with anyone else go with South Pointe. Plus they are marine conservationist so you can't beat that.

Fantastic experience: Southpoint Divers wreck dives are the best! Their weighted down line system makes decenta so easy even on days when the current is a bit sporty. Fantastic experience: We had the most wonderful time diving with Southpoint Divers in Key West. Me and my boyfriend are both certified open water divers but it had been more than two years since our last dive. Southpoint took us through a refresher course -- which was true enough refreshing as it brought back our energy and confidence in diving again. A big woot woot specially to our instructor, Melissa, who was such a bright ray of sunshine and whose knowledge, skills and experience run deep, no pun intended (and we got to drink with her too after!) Then in the afternoon, they took us to two dive spots out by the Gulf of Mexico. Visibility was great and we were able to see a great number of tropical fish like rainbow parrotfish, some squirrelfish, angel fish, and lush and colorful corals. We were hoping to see some manatees and sting rays but they didn't come out that day. Overall, Southpoint gave us a great comeback to diving again. So much so that soon as the second dive was over, we wanted to book with them again for the next day! Unfortunately, their boat needed some repairs and they were not doing any chartered dives the following day. Instead, they so kindly referred us to another dive shop so we could go again. Southpoint Divers gave us an amazing experience that we will never forget.

Great fun, definitely recommend the use of a guide if you're not coming with a buddy or its your first time. It's a big wreck and it can get you confused. The only big negative is location. They are down in old Town key west so parking can be tough. I got a lift from family but that also meant I was lugging my gear down the street avoiding all the cruisers.

Fantastic experience: Loved southpoint, dove 6 tank dives , 2 discover scuba days with my uncertified 20 yr olds. Everyone was a bit nervous , it had been 6 years since we tried scuba. We were trained in the beach, the dives had great visibility, Aaron ,personally took extra attention w my girls with their tank instruction and buoyant issues. The water was warm and clear, loved the crew , Cudos, drew ,mike b ,tropical mike ,Kim filip. Would recommend again , Suzy

Fantastic experience: Did the two reef dive. Guides were really nice, reef was beautiful. Saw many fish and a nice shark that said hi and swam away. I suggest taking dramamine or similar before the ride out so you can avoid feeling seasick and get the most out of your trip!

She is not just an experienced diver that provides great suggestions, she is also a top shelf customer service focused individual. She made sure we had a great time.

Fantastic experience: If you’re planning on Scuba diving in Key West , you guys should definitely check out this dive shop . They’re super friendly and helpful . Amazing Captain , Crew and guides . Fantastic experience: My son and I dived with Southpoint Divers on the 2 tank reef tour. Check-in was smooth, the location was nice, and the path to the dock takes you through a cool section next to the Hyatt hotel where you'll see a few open turtle enclosures. The boat was large and had plenty of shade. We are both certified divers, and I appreciated that they treated us like competent divers. Our guide was Aaron who patiently and professionally provided a safe, calm, unrushed tour of the reefs. We saw lots of beautiful fish including a few grouper and a barracuda. We were hoping to see sharks, turtles, and rays, but that wasn't on nature's agenda for our dives. At any rate, the next time we're looking to dive in Key West, Southpoint Divers will be high on our list of shops to dive with. Thanks for the experience!
