Fantastic experience: Great teachers, nice facility, and above industry standard training program. I got my CDL A and hazmat all through them. They streamlined the whole process and gave me the tools to maneuver federal and state regulations.

Negative experience: If you basically want to teach yourself how to drive a CMV with serious mechanical and safety issues, with very little help or instruction, Drive 509 is the place for you! I can not emphasize how utterly unhelpful Jason is when it comes to answering questions or providing any kind of instruction. Every single one of his trucks had something wrong with it, and all our shared concerns were completely dismissed or ignored by both Jason and his mechanic. This place is all about trying to make money off of people, and it shows. They do not care if you pass your state testing. They are happy to take your money again if you don't. Do yourself a favor and look for some place better to do your training. Cheers and good luck!

Fantastic experience: Instructors are amazing!! Joe is top of the line in trucking. Matt made the classroom interactive, interesting, productive, and practical. Cheryl is so helpful in the yard and helped me progress greatly even through my frustrations. Chad, Bill, Rich, and Larry all had different approaches to the drives that lead to the same outcome which was quick and efficient growth. I have my state test in a few days and from week 1 to now completing my 4th training week for my class A CDL, the growth in such a short amount of time was exponential!!! Highly recommend Drive509 and staff!!!! Come say hi to the ladies in the office, they’re all amazing individuals as well and can answer your every question!!!! Highest of Kudos to Jason and his team.

Fantastic experience: I recently completed the Class A (4 week) driving progam at Drive509. This school was recommended to me by a friend, and I highly recommend Drive509 for anyone who is seeking Commericial Driving as their career. Drive509 training materials, office staff, equipment and most of all thier instructors are phenomenal. Everyone is super helpful along every step of the way. They will teach you all you need to know to pass the Washington State CDL Exam.

Fantastic experience: Very good school. I would definitely recommend this CDL school to anyone wanting to drive truck or just get the license. All the instructors were very helpful and none that I was with had the “teacher” attitude, meaning the I know more than you and I’m better attitude ,they shared their experiences and taught us more from an I’ve been there too stance. And I can’t say enough about the class I was with definitely a great group of guys who made the experience that much better.

Fantastic experience: Completed the 4 week class for a Class A CDL. Passed my test today, can't recommend enough! Variety of driving instructors and variety of trucks is awesome. You learn a lot from each instructor and their own personal experience. Yard instructors are awesome, and the office staff made every step of the way as easy as possible.

Negative experience: Dude. Other business have operations off of Eden and Euclid rd and the Barker rd area. We are all sick of you guys. Always waiting 15 minutes at stop signs. And going 5mph. Dude. The city employees in the dump trucks honking at you while you impeded traffic today was amazing. Your even pissing off the government employees. Yall gonna cause an accident. You suck

Fantastic experience: The instructors are knowledgeable and helpful,and mostly friendly and professional. Sometimes it feels like there's not enough instructor's for the number of students attending. A couple silly rules like no moving trucks before 0800 and no moving trucks w/o an instructor present,but overall it's a good school,and I'm glad I went. They work with you and get you ready for a career and safe driving practices.

Fantastic experience: I graduated about 1.5 years ago. I still use all the information drilled into you by the instructors. It has made me a very capable driver. I would choose this school again if I had to. P.s. More mirror checks.

Fantastic experience: I was given short notice that I had to upgrade my Class B CDL to a class A for work purposes, I called Drive509 on a Friday and I was in night classes the very next Monday. The instructors and staff are nothing short of passionate and do everything they can to help each student through the process and training of getting their CDL. I was given 1 on 1 training when I needed it and never felt I was falling behind thanks to all of the trainers. They left me well over prepared and qualified to pass my state exam with no problems.

Fantastic experience: I started this course with no prior training. I was not able to even back a trailer in a straight line or even shift gears while on the road. After four weeks I was confident in all my maneuvers and on the road driving. Thanks to the instructors’ help I passed my state exam with ease.

Fantastic experience: I just recently got my certificate of completion for my Class A from Drive509 If your looking for a good school to get your career started, this place is where you want to go. They have day and night classes and all the right tools and tricks to get you what you want. I spent 4 weeks and 160 hours at drive 509 and by the end I was confident and prepared with my abilities to pass my WA skills exam. If your looking into getting your CDL I highly recommend Drive509.

I came to the school due to a suggestion from an in-law who was an instructor there suggested that it would do a great job shaking off the rust in my driving truck and trailer. The price is great and the admin staff is wonderful, attentive and respectful. What they teach you will help you pass your exam and what you put into this school is what you will get out of it. I will strongly recommend this school to anyone who is willing to learn how to operate. Cheers!!

Fantastic experience: Training here prepared me to be a safe CMV driver and I was told that I passed the WA state exam easily from the tester! All credit goes to the school curriculum and instructors. Highly recommend if you want to be prepared to operate a CMV safely and efficiently!

Fantastic experience: Signing up here was easily one of the best professional decisions I've made. I'm retired military and have had several jobs since leaving the service and finally found myself considering a CDL. I started the class in early April and I just completed it on 3 May 24. I also took the additional HAZMAT class with Drive509 which is part of the requirement to get an endorsement for hazardous materials on your CDL. I came into this class with absolutely no big rig experience and I was very nervous but I was very willing to learn. It did NOT all come easy to me, but I stuck with it anyway because if it were easy, then everyone would be doing it. There is an abundance of knowledge between all of the driving instructors and all of them are committed to sharing that knowledge with you in order to make you a safe, effective, and proficient operator. All of them have years upon years of driving experience under their belts and it shows. I am greatly appreciative of the knowledge that all of them shared with me because even though some of it was difficult for me, they managed to get me trained well. It was worth every bit of struggle to learn what they had to teach...and they are VERY GOOD at teaching you if you're willing to listen. When you arrive, take everything you think you know about big rigs and throw it out, and then listen to the instructors. They know what they're doing and you will too if you complete the training. If you're even thinking about it, I encourage you to walk in and talk with Brenna, Olivia or Anna...just GO. Especially if you're a veteran with VA benefits. The enrollment process could not have been smoother. GO...get signed up and take the training. It will be the best investment in yourself and your career. Truck drivers are in extremely high demand and getting trained to be one has to be one of the most assured routes to financial stability that I can think of today. I heard accounts of students having jobs waiting for them before they even finished the course. I raised an eyebrow at that and figured it was the exception rather than the norm...until I graduated. I finished the class on 3 May, I drive tested on the 4th, picked up my license from DoL on the 6th...and I interviewed for and obtained a job that I had applied for on 30 Apr. Yes...you read that right. I applied for a job on the 30th of Apr, and I got hired for the position on the 6th of May. And yes...they DID call the school to ask about me as a candidate. So, show up...do the work...listen to the instructors and you will leave with a skill that can land you a career very quickly. Embrace the struggle...it will be worth it!!!

Fantastic experience: Drive 509 is awesome! From their office staff to their instructors. They don't train you to get a CDL, they train you to be knowledgeable of your truck, laws, mechanics, and most importantly how to be a safe driver on the road. I had very little knowledge on engines and driving a manual semi. I just finished my class B and hazmat endorsement courses. I can now say I am confident that I can pass my CDL test and understand how to ensure myself and my truck are safe on the road. I cannot recommend this school enough. I will probably be back to upgrade to a Class A CDL in the future. Huge shout out to the office ladies for all the help and making sure you have the tools to get all your stuff in and handled. I honestly can't say enough how thankful I am of everyone at 509. I took my state test today, passed and honestly I feel I was over prepared which was an amazing feeling going through the testing. I'd like to extend a very special thanks to a few instructors specifically: Larry, he's the funniest guy you'll ever meet, but at the same time he's very informative and tactful... Josh, he helped me conquer the offset and 90° backing maneuvers.. he always has a fantastic attitude and is up to the job. Cheryl, for taking me on an extra drive to do some more observations and understand back road truck driving. ALL the instructors at 509 are amazing and WANT to be there to help you. I'm so grateful for the experience it's something that will stay with me for the rest of my life. Positive experience: The school was extremely professional and well operated. Instructors and staff were layed back, always ready and willing to help the students succeed. Fantastic experience: As someone who’s been to CDL school before, I have to say Drive509 is probably the best school in the country. I went to a CDL school in AZ (didn’t transfer my CDL right away when I moved, so I had to go through and get it again here in WA) and they weren’t anywhere near as thorough, hospitable, and knowledgeable as Drive509. The staff is so kind, flexible, and go out of their way to make sure you’re succeeding in school, but also won’t let you go hungry at night if you’re in that kind of situation. The instructors actually care about the students and what they’re teaching them. The adjust their teaching ways to cater to how some people learn (which is nice when you have ADHD like me). Every single person there is exceptional and does more than just ‘their job’. They’ll work with you. They’ll spend extra time with you. They won’t let you leave until you’re completely ready and that’s something awesome. 100/10 would recommend. Don’t be afraid to change into the trucking career, even if you don’t feel you won’t fit in, because they’ll make sure you learn all you need to learn and more. The shop dog was my favorite part of going there every day. Love you, Groot!

Fantastic experience: I recently had to upgrade my class B to a class A and with new laws am required to do 80 hours of training. Being a small business owner my time is my most precious commodity from the time I called Drive 509 they were 110% in my corner and did whatever it took to get me my required training, and miss as Little work as possible. they will bend over backwards to accommodate everyone of their students in their educational journey and schedules. Everyone that works there is top notch from the owner all the way down to the shop dog and everyone in between. They truly care about their students and offer a great education at a fair value. All of their equipment is in good operating order so you will not have to learn on some junky old truck. Their facility is well-kept, and they take great pride in their program you will not find a better school to attend and not be disappointed that you did.

I did the 4 week course. This school is so professional and knowledgeable that I honestly felt ready for my state test by the end of my 3 rd week. All of the office, people were wonderful and on top of things. All of the yard and drive instructors were absolutely helpful and knowledgeable. Their worked with you and where professional. They pushed us to be better than the industry standard. I had my CDL exam today and Passed on the first try! All because how well prepared this school got me! Fantastic experience: This place is phenomenal. Training objectives are aggressive yet get you where you need to be at each stage of the training. The office staff are great and very helpful/knowledgeable enough to answer any questions or correct any issues that may arise. Facility was nice, although the yard was dusty. Not for lack of trying of the staff that kept the sprinklers on the battle the dust. The best part I believe were the instructors. Jason, Tim, Joe, Bill, Rich, Richard, Joe, Josh, Sergio and Andrew were all instrumental in my success. Any other instructor that I didn’t drive with was still very nice and game me constructive criticism. I loved every day I spent there. Plenty of vehicles to practice backing, driving, uncoupling and coupling and even putting on and taking off chains. I feel very well prepared to get on the road. Be better than the industry standard! Much luck and success to the team and for anyone that attends the course and becomes part of the trucking community.

Fantastic experience: It was very professional I enjoyed learning from instructors driving and non driving. There was plenty of trucks to practice pretrip on and trucks with trailers to practice backing other students it helped learning other things if you missed something they could point that out to you.

Fantastic experience: I had a very good experience with Drive509. They are very organized, and all the instructors really work hard to make sure you are trained properly so you are safe once you get on the road. I was getting my Class B, so I was only there for 2 weeks. I had to learn how to drive a manual transmission, which was challenging in such a short amount of time. I was able to get the training I needed, and was able to pass my driving test on the first try!

Fantastic experience: Amazing school. Not a single instructor nor staff member from the bottom to the top of the food chain (including the owners) treated me as well as anyone with more or zero prior experience with respect and catered to all of our abilities in order to help us achieve success. I was a slacker for a couple weeks which caused me to get behind on my pre trip and they STILL were willing to do what it took and I ended up passing my exam on the first try. Their word is gold and I’d recommend them to anyone and everyone if they’re trying to get their CDL.

Fantastic experience: Great place to learn a new skill to take with you for life! I went through the 4 week CDL-A training as well as the hazmat course through Drive509. I knew next to nothing about trucks before starting the course and came out with MUCH more than the base knowledge to get my trucking career off to a great start! The instructors are encouraging, attentive, and present everything you'll need (and more) to help you achieve success; they leave it mostly up to you to apply their methods and learn the skills necessary to become a professional driver. It is a very hands-on learning environment which I believe was key for me in retaining all the information that was thrown at me in a short amount of time. I think it also helps that the instructors at Drive509 all have varying levels of experience in the industry which made for a myriad of tips, tricks and techniques to help master the ability to be safe, and successful though-out the entire course. The facility itself is very well maintained with a very relaxed, and comfortable feel. All staff I encountered were friendly and attentive. If I had any questions about the course, payments, endorsements, or anything else they were very happy to help out. I would absolutely recommend Drive509 to anyone looking to gain the knowledge they need to not only obtain a CDL, but to also become a more safe and proficient driver out on the road!

Fantastic experience: This school got me above and beyond prepared for my CDL career. I had no experience driving trucks before this 4 week course and I feel very confident in my abilities now. Fantastic experience: Hello, I just completed the 16 hour online HazMat course offered and taught by Drive509 for the purpose of adding the hazmat endorsement to my CDL. Thank you for the experience and knowledge provided. The instructor (Tim Beamis) did a great job teaching the content and keeping everyone alert, awake and tuned in to the class. Hazmat is an extremely complex subject/topic to teach about and one not easily understood. Fantastic experience: Drive 509 gave me all the resources I needed to confidently show up ready to go for the state skills test. Standards of training go well beyond standard of state expectations. Use your training time wisely and you’ll ace it no problem.

Fantastic experience: The instructors at this school answered all my questions in depth and detail, even taking me aside one-on-one to go through various parts of the truck. You will get what you put into this course. You won't be handheld through the process, and for me the 4-week course definitely challenged me to the most of my ability. If you take initiative to practice, and stay late after class (which you can do for free) then you will be able to learn what you need to pass. Just don't miss any opportunity to learn, ask as many questions as you can, and the school/staff will get you there.
