Fantastic experience: I PASSED MY ROAD TEST!!! Ronny is a legend to have the opportunity to get him to teach me. He's the best driving instructor here in Albany. I'm 40 years old and on the contrary of people who may have age discriminations of needing to start young, I believe it's never too late; Anyone can do it! But you need a wise and excellent driving instructor: look no further. And furthermore, Driving is an important skill to have; in my opinion; it's a must and a necessity - like swimming too or making a fire from scratch in a forest. I promise you if you take Ronny's lessons, they are the best! I got my 5 hour certificate with him and took lessons and the road test- I recommend him and his school!

Negative experience: Terrible experience. Instead of learning student will loose interest of learning because of the way this person teach.

Fantastic experience: Simply said this is the only driving school you should go to!! Ronny is experienced and cares. I know he yells, tells you things like, "WHAT ARE U DOING?! ARE U CRAZY?!!!." But TRUST ME, as a first time driver you need someone with that attitude to sometimes Snap the anxiety of out of you. I'm a nervous person specially when a test comes. This was my second time taking the test and I knew from the moment I sat with the DMV examiner , I was going to pass because that anxiety went out of the window. I was never able to practice with a family member bc they live in other states and I was freaking out. Do not waste your money and time like I did going to another driving school. I took lessons in to Learn to drive school and FAILED because the instructor was always on his phone, said everything I did was perfect. He didn't care!!! Took me to the wrong test location. First took me to Broadway and then said it was in Troy. We got to Troy late and I was already nervous and anxious for waiting almost an hr for the DMV examiner who of course said I was late. But it in end he ended up testing me and of course I FAILED.! Compare to what he thought me before I did every thing wrong. The instructor here was the exact opposite. From my first lesson it was evident he was extremely excellent at his craft. I have my license thanks to his excellent lessons. Do yourself a favor and call to arrange for lessons that will lead you to your license. Thank you Ronnie!!!

Fantastic experience: If you're looking for a driving school, whatever age or experience level you are, this is the place for you. The 5 hour pre licensing course and driving lessons were great. My instructor was patient and at the same time strict which is what I needed to learn the right driving practices. Got my license after my first try taking the test. The procedure for parallel parking from my instructor was super easy. When he tells you it's nothing and you could learn it in 10 minutes. Believe him. Definitely the place I would recommend to anyone.

Negative experience: I read a lot of the reviews on here and most of them talked about Ronny's blunt honesty, which I don't mind and felt like I needed to be prepared for the test. I work in a field that requires blunt honestly so I don't mind hearing harsh criticism. What I was expecting was someone who pulled me over and said "Look , you have a lot of work before the test" or "That was really bad" type of blunt honestly which I would be fine with. What I wasn't prepared for was how aggressive the instructor was. It was far from my first time in the car but I swear this guy made me feel like I'd never set foot in a car in my life. He was aggressive and kept his voice at a high, almost yell the entire time. His "blunt honesty" is mostly just calling you "crazy" or berating you for simple mistakes and asking you if you even know how to drive (which we don't if we're coming to you for instruction). He barely gave me a second to correct a mistake before his hands were on the wheel doing it for me or slamming on the breaking (even in low traffic areas where it really wasn't necessary to do). His hands were guiding the wheel more than I was. While I don't doubt his technique for things like parallel parking and 3 point turns are good, I wouldn't know because he just was so aggressive every time I made even a tiny little mistake that I just became afraid of messing up, messed up more and retained none of what was taught to me. Half of his instructions were in between berating me for tiny mistakes in a moving vehicle where I could process none of the information. There was just ZERO patience. I ended up going to a different driving school and having a much better experience where I learned way better and for cheaper (and ended up passing). If you're the type of person who feels like they need "a boot up their rear" so to speak to learn, then by all means choose this school; but if you struggle to learn under aggression, have any sort of anxiety or need patience, it's definitely not where you want to go. There are much more patient instructors that teach the same techniques.

Fantastic experience: It may be nearly impossible to find an instructor as patient as Ronny. He truly cares and his only objective is to help you pass your Driver's Test. If you follow his techniques for K-turns, parallel parking, left/right turns you should be able to master them. He is tough but he will make sure he helps you pass. Thanks for everything, Ronny!

Positive experience: The dude isn't a bad teacher. He just has a short temper, as if everyone should've known how to drive or at least know the roads. I was also shorted on my time just because I was a half hr drive. I get it, make your money but don't accept something if you're gonna short people on their time and complain about it. He did teach me a few things which I can't knock him for, but be prepared for an attitude and complaining if you mess up just a little bit. Ima do 3 stars because he does want you pass the test and he's going by the book.

Fantastic experience: I took the 5-hour course with him in January, and took lessons with him everyday for a week (3/11-3/15). I haven’t been behind a wheel November 2022, but I was able to pass my road test on the first try 3/15! Understating what he’s telling you is key to your ability, it makes it so much easier and less stressful, most importantly he is quite understanding and patient with you in your learning. He can be a little strict but it’s only because he wants you to succeed and to be as safe as possible. Thank you Ronny!!!

Negative experience: Really disappointed, all these ratings and reviews were very misleading. Guy was kinda rude on the phone, and we explained to him we have a young child and work so we really need to schedule a lesson with a window or a specific time, we were told no. Apparently the only way this works is you pay for your driving lesson and then he calls you when he has free time? Not sure what kind of business can’t do basic scheduling. I can’t let my job know to take the time off because he doesn’t have a specific time…how am I supposed to also get a babysitter if he won’t give me a window or a specific time, if you are an adult STAY AWAY.

Fantastic experience: This morning, I passed the road test on my first try, and it is all thanks to Ronny and the support he gave me throughout my learning experience as a new driver! The only time I had ever driven before my first lesson with Albany Driving School was in a parking lot for a few minutes, so my driving knowledge was quite limited. Thus, I was extremely nervous going into my first lesson. With each lesson I had with Ronny, though, I grew more and more confident in my driving abilities. That doesn’t go without saying there were moments of frustration. As other reviewers have mentioned, Ronny is strict in his instruction, but that’s because he wants you to pass on your first try. As a result of his assertiveness, I knew what mistakes I was making and how to correct them. It is better that I had someone like Ronny to tell me what I was doing wrong than to make those mistakes on my road test and lose points for them. In past I had bad experience from my last time instructor n I got 2times failure n that was my third attempt n I got my license. Negative experience: Fraud warning. They never give you their address. The guy answered the phone was initially very thrilled and seemed to be happy to answer all of your questions; however, he never give a firm answer. When I thought we were going to have a class scheduled he change the mind right before the class. Terrible experience, will not attending nor recommend this to any friends.

Negative experience: While he has a lot of experience with teaching students of various capabilities, if you experience any difficulties with grasping any road techniques he will berate you for not understanding it the way he’s taught other people. And he will proceed to never respond to your messages to request another class. Extremely disappointed because he was rated so highly. Took a class with another learning school and immediately understood what I was doing because the instructor was Patient and willing to work in an area that was very quiet so I could practice.

Fantastic experience: I just passed my road test today. Ronny is a very strict instructor and I do appreciate his strictness and patience. He pointed out every single mistake I made. Sometimes, I get frustrated that why I always make mistakes. But I have to say, these frequent corrections and tips are very helpful. He also encourage me with a positive mind on the test. Overall, I had a great learning experience.

Fantastic experience: This is the best driving school in the district. Instructor can pick you up if you're in Albany. Ronny (the instructor) was really helpful, and has a good sense of humor. I didn't know anything about driving before, also I was kinda scared in the beginning. But now after those lessons, I am pretty confident about my driving. Not only I did pass my road test, but I also learned some valuable lessons about how to drive without getting trouble in real life.

Fantastic experience: Really great experience! Took the 5 hr class and road test with Albany Driving School. The instructor Ronny gave me a lot of good tips before going into my road test. He also helped me gain confidence and makes you feel comfortable driving on the road which is a very important skill to have and learn. He was a really nice guy and easy to talk to if you have any questions. Thanks to him I passed the first time around. Highly recommend !

Negative experience: The instructor " Ronny Williams" is horrible in behaving. First i am not sure why he keep addressing me "Baby". He is not only rude, arrogant but also aggressive. His strategy is break the confidence and intimidate the one who dares to come for a lesson to an extent that they shall start thinking they know nothing until they end up paying for 4-5 lesson to this man. I noticed his anger against me especially when i tell him I am Indian. It was a waste of money my first lesson $60, he literally taught me nothing except " Observe how others drive when you are sitting to them". The way he treated me was horrible. I took medication and slept for hours to get over it.
