Fantastic experience: I started with a different driving school but unfortunately failed my road test. Then I switched to Allwright’s School of Driving and took lessons with Patrick. He is incredibly patience and explains everything so clearly. I wanted to pass because I have a newborn baby, and driving is essential for me to take care of important things. There’s no public transportation in my area, so having a license was a must. Thanks to Patrick’s excellent teaching, I passed my road test! I highly recommend Patrick and Allwright’s School of Driving to anyone who wants to learn driving the right way.

Positive experience: I recently had my first driving lesson with Chris from Alwright Driving School, and it was a fantastic experience. As someone with zero road experience and quite a bit of anxiety about driving, I was nervous going in. However, Chris immediately made me feel comfortable and confident behind the wheel. Despite my lack of experience and making some pretty terrible mistakes, Chris remained calm, patient, and incredibly supportive throughout the entire 90-minute lesson. He let me drive for the full duration, which really helped build my confidence. His guidance was clear, and he always corrected me in a constructive and encouraging way, offering useful feedback without ever making me feel bad about my errors. Edited: I passed my driving test on the first try with good points! I’m so grateful for Chris's instruction, which helped me reach this goal. Since I don’t have the option to practice with someone else's car due to insurance, driving school is my only way to learn. I'm so glad I chose Alwright Driving School, and I highly recommend Chris to anyone looking for a great driving instructor who really understands how to teach beginners!

All of his lessons were with Chris so he would get the same information on each lesson he took. Allwright has great communication with scheduling the lessons and road test. Fantastic experience: My overall experience with Allwright’s School of driving was fantastic. My instructor Patrick was very kind and an excellent teacher. As a person with zero driving experience, I was very nervous, but Patrick helped me gain confidence and good driving skills which were sufficient to pass the road test. The school people were very helpful and flexible with scheduling classes and road tests. I highly recommend the driving school.

Fantastic experience: I just took my driving test and passed!! Patrick was an amazing instructor. I even recommended the school to a co-worker of mine who signed up for classes as well!!

Negative experience: EDIT: Let me break down Allwright's response. I had paid for five lessons and a road test in a package deal, and I wanted to get my money's worth. I needed my license. I could have complained earlier-- I was talking with a friend over things the instructor had said. I didn't realize it wasn't normal for an instructor to treat you that way. I called Allwright's to schedule the road test and spoke to the receptionist about how I was treated. There was no further follow up from management after this. When the manager took me for my driving test, he did not discuss the issue. I was the one to bring up the fact that I was uncomfortable with Gary. The manager brushed off Gary's aggression and the way I was treated, saying that he "had a loud voice." On parallel parking- I was instructed to line up with the nearest car, turn out at a 65 degree angle, reverse, and line back up. You are supposed to turn out at 45 degrees and reverse, then reverse the other way and back in that way for parallel parking. This is a minor thing, but I was still taught the wrong way. Let's break down the last paragraph of Allwright's response. "She cried not because the instructor yelled at her but because she didn’t like the tone of his voice" I cried, not because I was yelled at, but because I didn't like the tone of someone's voice--Who was yelling at me for something I couldn't control and made me feel like I would never be able to drive or pass the test. Same thing. "because she insinuated it was the instructor's fault" I would have taken more lessons if I felt like there was an instructor I was comfortable with. My plan was to take the road test, see how things went when talking to the manager, and if it went well, I'd take more lessons. The manager made it clear he didn't care about what happened. "when she really had no one to blame except herself." I did get extra practice in when I could. Lessons were once every two or three weeks. I don't disagree that I wasn't ready to take the road test. But I don't think I should be victim blamed by a company who I gave money to prepare me to drive. People in a position where they are taking driving lessons don't have the support of other people who can or want to teach them to drive, or who can afford an inexperienced driver on their insurance. In this response, they're blaming me and dismissing my complaints. Look at their responses to other bad reviews trying to make themselves look like the good guy. Don't give this place your money. OG review: Gary was rude and did not respect me. He constantly would ask you rhetorical questions, would raise his voice and get in your face. The test was built up like it was impossible. I stuck things out because he had some useful advice, but I was taught to parallel completely incorrectly. In what situation would I have enough room to be 65 degrees out from the other car? Lessons were scheduled once every 2 or 3 weeks. I would come away from every lesson more and more upset. In between, Gary insisted that I try to practice in others' cars. It's not a bad suggestion (but a lot of people take driving lessons because they aren't on someone's insurance or they don't have access to this.) On my last lesson, he asked how many times I went out to practice. I wasn't able to and he asked me how I would ever improve or pass the test--I just started crying. They suggested that I get more lessons but I didn't think that would help me. I just wanted to finish my course package. The manager said that he would drive me to the test site and hear out my concerns. He tried to justify his employee's behavior by saying that he had a loud voice. When I was driving to the test site, he said condescendingly "It seems like you don't have much experience driving on the road." Yeah, that's because your lessons exclusively had me driving in empty neighborhoods and developments? There are other driving schools and I hope they're better. Do not give this place your business.

Fantastic experience: I couldn’t have done it without the help of my instructor Christian . I passed my road test on my first try . I highly recommend to go through this company !!!!! Everyone was very kind & only cared about how successful you’ll be on the road . GREAT EXPERIENCE

Patrick was an excellent instructor—he did a fantastic job of preparing me for my driving test. He was also very flexible with his schedule, allowing me to get in good practice before the test. Having previously taken classes with a different school without success, I was pleasantly surprised by how effective Patrick's teaching methods were. I highly recommend this driving school!!

I didn't pass the test at the first time since I was nervous. However, they did their best to schedule the second test as soon as possible. I also took one more lesson before the test and I passed. Fantastic experience: The instructors and staff are all very kind and helpful! Patrick and Gary really helped my driving improve and gave me some really great tips! The 5 hour pre-licensing course with Kerry was not only educational and helpful, but she also made the 5 hours fly by and somehow made it fun. They were able to squeeze me in for the 5 hour pre-licensing course, 3 lessons, and a road test in about 2 weeks which made it so easy as a college student mid-finals! I not only passed my road test with them but felt confident while taking it!

Fantastic experience: I was debating a few driving schools in Rochester, given that i was graduating college in under a month, and I wanted to pass my road test prior to graduating. Allwright’s was very helpful in this endeavor as they accommodated my rather tight schedule of finals, projects, and juggling part time work and were able to schedule all my lessons and road tests in a timely fashion. The instructors are fantastic, they teach you everything you need to know, were extraordinarily professional throughout the 90 minute lessons. Their pickup service was also very helpful as I live on campus and didn’t have a way to get to the driving school without a pickup on campus. Their service for road tests, bringing you there, letting you warm up in the school’s vehicle was also extremely helpful. TLDR: If you are a college student looking to get your license before graduating, I would highly recommend Allwright’s

Fantastic experience: Overall, my experience with All rights has been very positive. My instructor Gary identified and help me correct my bad driving habits. after three lessons with him and one with another instructor I was able to pass my road test. The people who work at the office are also very kind and helpful while booking appointments and the final road test.

Positive experience: Learning the rules of driving us one thing, but Allwrights School of Druving gave explanation and reasons on why those rules are need to be applied.

Fantastic experience: My 16 year old son took the class on Zoom. He was happy it didn’t take the full 5 hours. He said the class was good. He said there was a mix of the instructor talking and videos. There were a few questions he needed to answer but no quiz like we thought.

Positive experience: Besides the reschedule fee, that was completely ridiculous and unnecessary, because I did communicate on time and with a good reason, because, since I am in the healthcare system my schedule is a rocking ball and I cannot leave a patient unseen! the class over all was engaging!

Fantastic experience: I paid for their gold package which includes 5 90-minute lessons, required 5-hour class, and road test service. I live near RIT, and the instructor is usually on time, sometimes early. Driving time depends on how much you have driven, and the instructor teaches you exactly what you need to know to drive and take the road test. The office workers are very nice and love to assist you when you call. They hold the 5-hour class via Zoom and schedule the road test for you if the instructor gives them the green light. I also passed the test first try, and I'm very happy with the results and service at Allwright's!
