Fantastic experience: I was so nervous but when I got in the car started driving I was fine & Passed my test on my 1st time Jessica was so nice

Negative experience: The instructors leave students outside alone when it is dark and stormy and transients circling. The communication is lacking and the drives are almost impossible to schedule. The classroom time is mostly breaks and students were instructed to lie to police if pulled over. Not worth the money. And poorly run.

Positive experience: They do not follow their own appointment rules: Scheduled a drive test for my child, in the email it stated "Must ARRIVE 10 minutes early or your appointment is CANCELED and no refund will be issued.". We arrived 10mins prior to appointment time like instructed, the testing person did not show for 24mins after our arrival. Which this set us back on time causing us to be late to our next scheduled appointment. If we were to be late our appointment it would have been canceled and our money would not be refunded, but they're able to be late, with no apologies. Their previous appointment must have been late, and not have got canceled.

Negative experience: Our family has used Chemeketa driver ed. all this time. We decided to try out this new driver ed based on Google review. Unfortunately, our experience has been continued to meet such low expectation on basic things like communication, expectations and consistency. We had three classes canceled on us and had to rescheduled around their availabilities even though they emphasized on their late fee/ missing class fee. Due to that, the class was extended a month. Their poor communication and organization between instructors and office staff are one of low qualities of the program. We were told by instructor that he will submit the paperwork that we need to complete the class, to the office, but the office staff tells us that’s not how it’s done. When we shared our concerns about inconsistent communication between office staff and instructor, the office staff did not see the value of this concern. The office staff doesn’t have the same access as instructors, so they cannot tell you half of stuff to answer your questions. We would recommend to take the class at actual Chemeketa C.C. as a first choice, even though ODEC receives a subsidized amount of money from Chemeketa. Otherwise, try out another driver ed.

Fantastic experience: ODEC was very professional and my driving instructor was calm and delivered instructions very well! At the end of the test she was helpful in letting me know the areas I need improvement on. Warning!! If you schedule a weekend appointment like I did you might be waiting outside the office for a few minutes, but don't worry! They know about you appointment and they will not forget you.

Fantastic experience: AAAAA++++ Awesome! After researching the best places in Salem Oregon to do a driving test I found without a doubt ODEC had the best reviews. My youngest daughter had also taking their package lessons and test and passed and recommended them highly. I was not disappointed. It was super easy to schedule my test online and I had one 3 days later. Nolan met me at the door as the testing time was 8am and scheduled before they open at 9am. He took a copy of my permit and gave me an instructional paper to look over on what the test would entail and what he would be looking for and grading on. After that we headed up to the garage and a newer Electric Vehicle that was super clean. Nolan made sure I was comfortable with all the buttons and how it worked prior to starting and made me feel at ease, asking if I had any further questions. His instructions during the test were clear and before long we were back and I passed! Whoohoo. He also gave me a few tips for the future. Thank you ODEC I am so glad I made the choice to go with y'all and not wait for the DMV.

My test was in Spanish and he did great, I understood him well, and he understood me, I cannot express enough how grateful I am.

Fantastic experience: The entire process, from making the appointment to my daughter actually taking the test was very easy! My daughter gets test anxiety and the instructor made her feel immediately at ease. She passed her test that day!

Negative experience: This place/staff is nice, except at reception desk should explain the bathroom location much better, the bathroom is very confusing. There were many (maybe 12) signs pointing which way to the restroom was and to top it off the bathroom was locked with a code and the office staff don't tell me that I have to walk a long distance to the restrooms and remember the code. When I got to the restroom, another lady was there she forgot about the code on the door. I don't think this building is ADA accessible, just because of the way the restroom directions were set up. I couldn't figure my way out, I had to text my boyfriend to come get me. Worst bathroom directions ever.

Fantastic experience: I took the drive test with Adam in downtown Salem. Although he was sort of nonchalant (I didn’t mind) he was also patient and respectful. His instructions were always pretty clear and he didn’t make me excessively nervous. Overall my experience with ODEC was positive.

Then my second examiner was Carla, and she is the best professional examiner because she knew that I felt nervous so she talked me to calm in her ways and I feel comfortable and confident. Negative experience: This place is a rip off. They make you pay the money, attend all classes but then never have any openings for you to practice driving. They make you think it’s your fault for not logging in and checking on the exact minute that they have some posted available. The service I have received is terrible. No one to help my child set up an account and if I call I often get hung up on. I would never recommend this place. Don’t waste your money!!!

Fantastic experience: I just passed my drivers test yesterday. It was a wonderful experience and my instructor made me feel at ease. The only thing I didn't like was the company car but that's irrelevant . But ODEC is a 10/10 I definitely recommend.

Fantastic experience: I was extremely nervous and had pretty bad anxiety about taking the drive test for my license. It has been a big hurdle for me. I read reviews on ODEC and decided that they would probably be a better fit for me instead of the DMV for the test. I was really nervous the day of, but the staff, especially my test examiner (Olga), made me feel less anxious and able to calm down. I passed! And the things I did make mistakes on were gone over at the end with me in a constructive way that made me feel comfortable in the knowledge. I would recommend ODEC to anyone that is anxious about taking the drive test!

Positive experience: It was overall a great experience. The Instructor was a little too formal which made me a bit nervous. Instructors voice directions sounded like a robot. I was told the couple things I did wrong, however didn't get any positive feedback other than I had passed. The car they provide is nice. I definitely recommend this place to use for a DMV drive test!!!

Fantastic experience: I am new to America from UK so driving here is completely different. The ODEC and in particular my instructor- Adam- completely understood and accommodated my needs and anxieties. Adam was an excellent instructor- kind, patient (no question was too stupid!) and gave me fantastic tips and really boosted my confidence. My exam was with Ed and he totally put me at ease and was very kind, encouraging and professional. Overall a wonderful experience and a great start to my driving experience in America. Would 100% recommend (and I saw the Drivers Education class a few times while I waited and it sounded like a very positive and constructive experience for the young drivers) Thanks!

Fantastic experience: ODEC provides an efficient and professional drive test experience! I took the 11:30am test on a Friday, and it took about 20 minutes to complete. After I passed, my examiner was quick to input my scores into the DMV system, and I was able to get my license within a few hours of leaving the building. I would definitely recommend ODEC to anyone who is looking to book a drive test from a 3rd party company because of the long DMV appointment waitlists.

Positive experience: As DMV drive tests were booked for months and my permit was about to expire soon, I booked a drive test with ODEC, after 2 different slots, a week apart, with a different third party testing business, were cancelled due to different reasons. There were a lot of slots available here within a couple of weeks and the booking was hassle free on a laptop, however I ran into issues while trying to book from my phone. For some reason, the menu to select location and slots would not appear on my phone after reaching the correct page. Hence I have deducted a star as I tried multiple times and the menu just would not load on mobile. The website may not be mobile friendly for booking. I would recommend ODEC as everything related to the actual drive test went smooth. My examiner, Jessica was professional. She answered all my 7-8 questions before the test, and then proceeded to administer the test in a calm and composed manner. I felt comfortable with Jessica even though I was initially a bit freaked out since I had never driven a Prius or seen this type of a car interior layout before. The stick was a toggle (after you put it in drive or reverse, it automatically comes back to its original position) and it was in front (where the ac/heat usually is) instead of the side, as it usually is in other layouts. If you are a tall person, don't forget to adjust your seats till you are completely comfortable. Jessica gave directions with a lot of heads up and even when I did make mistakes she stayed calm and never showed any exasperation. She noted everything down and shared her feedback at the very end of the drive after parking was complete. People who cannot find slots with the DMV or are without a car, can consider testing with a third party business like ODEC. Their 'student driver' cars in the Beaverton location were mostly Prius and Corolla. The car that I drove seemed to be well maintained. Its handling was fine, and the brakes and accelerator seemed quite sensitive. There was no rain when I took the test. Their customer service also seemed pretty proactive. I had booked an extra slot in the event that I failed on my first try. I called up the customer service after I passed and they promptly cancelled my slot and issued me a refund. While I have not received a refund yet (takes a few business days), I have received confirmation emails of slot cancellation and refund issue. I will update my review if I do not receive my refund in a week or two. I would have given 5/5 had it not been for their website not being mobile friendly when it comes to booking slots. Update: Received my refund. Heads up to people who maybe booking multiple slots, they do deduct a $5 processing fee which is mentioned in their terms and conditions.

Fantastic experience: I've had two teens go through this program and I have been very impressed with the teachers and in-car driving lessons. I'm thankful the kids have a chance to be better drivers and hopefully not be the cause of any future accidents. I wish EVERYONE was required to take drivers ed prior to getting a driver's license. The "distracted driving" lessons are worth it alone! Thanks ODEC for helping make Salem safer.

Fantastic experience: ODEC was very professional . Easy Navigation in their site for Booking the appointment for the Driving Test. Once appointment done after payment there were regular remainder and on the date it was on time. The Test examiner made comfortable to start of the Test . And also very professional in giving directions. Made sure to cover all aspects of the driving during the time of testing which is really good and required for the driver to be aware off. Provided the feedback on the end of the Test. And Yes i did Pass the driving test :) . Will recommend my friends to take class or driving test from ODEC.
