Negative experience: WMST examiners have personal agenda of selling classes and cancels drive test for permits and endorsements just prior to test day saying no enrollments and pushes to sells expensive classes for an 20 yr experience rider. Had this 2 times Everett and Mukilteo both cancelled since nov and dec of this year. Will file a complaint to WA state. How can you sell a class and not take skills test?

Fantastic experience: Awesome experience getting both my permit and endorsement here. My permit instructors were Lauren Lackey and Thiago Machado and my endorsement instructors were Ken Crystal and William Niva. Really great experience both courses. The course was completely worth the money as it gave me much more confidence than I would have had otherwise, and I even learned techniques, habits, and considerations that my friends who have been riding for years didn't know. Extremely supportive environment. All of the instructors want you to pass, but they're fair, firm, and safe during testing. Regardless of nerves, I still passed along with most of the class both times. I'll be taking more courses with them in the future to keep my skills sharp, but would highly, highly recommend this school for your motorcycle instruction and/or licensing needs.

Fantastic experience: I took a one hour class here and took a driving skills test right after. Bill is the best instructor- gave excellent pointers on parallel parking and backing. Felt very confident after the lesson and passed the test. Highly recommend this driving school!

Fantastic experience: Took the Permit Retest class with Brandon. He was patient, helpful, and clear with what to expect and how to improve. Appreciated him taking the afternoon to make us better riders! All of WMST has been great to work with as I learn how to ride. Would definitely recommend them for their staff.

Fantastic experience: Great experience taking my test through WMST! The examiners were set up early, professional, and helpful.

Negative experience: This driving school is a good way to waste money. The teen driving program is not good, and they will find any excuse to scam you for more money. Go to Defensive Driving, they have a way better system. Good luck.

Fantastic experience: Huge shout out to Leroy for helping me feel comfortable and getting me used to the basics! I feel a lot more prepared to be out on the road on my motorcycle now! I will be back for the endorsement class!

Fantastic experience: I recently took the essential street skills course. Our instructor Brent, helped quickly identify a few key techniques for me to work on the areas of braking and cornering. Left with some great new take aways and refreshers. Hope to see more classes like this!

Diana Chamberlain 11 months ago

Fantastic experience: Brent was a great, calm, and patient motorcycle instructor. I had a good experience with the street skills course. The emails ahead of time sent the whole class to the wrong location, so that could have been more clear but luckily we all figured it out and had a great day.

Positive experience: Took intermediate permit one day course. Training was really helpful and the drills remind of the fundamentals again. Students are expected to actively listen than the instructors feeding. The training assumes prior riding and it shows in the way they talk about terms, without actually introducing them.

Negative experience: Sure, they'll teach you the basics. As far as safety? That's definitely up for debate. They will make you take the test regardless of the weather conditions or your physical condition. I showed up hobbling on a cane with a back injury and asked if I could do the whole thing another day. Instructor made it seem as if I really didn't have much choice but to power thru. Not to mention, I think most people would agree that it is exponentially more hazardous to ride a motorcycle in the rain. In fact, I don't ever plan to intentionally ride in the rain. Yet, they had us outside for hours in the pouring rain performing speedy cornering maneuvers and emergency stops on wet asphalt with painted striping all over it. I couldn't even see thru my visor. Instructor kept telling me to pick up speed, while I was just trying to keep visibility and traction as best I could on the busted motorcycle i was provided. In fact, the speedometer didn't work on the provided bike. I told the instructor about it, and they said to just wing it. On a test that requires you to accelerate up to a certain speed and then hit the brakes? Really? So then, literally about 2 minutes removed from telling them about the speedo, I wrecked. At what speed? Couldn't tell you. The response? Well, they dont have any sort of medical personnel on site, nor do they even have a plan for any sort of emergency. They asked if I was good, but then felt the need to point out that I failed the test. Instead of maybe figuring out some sort of medical help, they also wanted me to fill out an incident report. I had to drive myself to the ER, and found out that I fractured my shoulder. I called the main office and was told "People do it in the rain, so it can be done." and then they proceeded to try and convince me that it was ultimately my fault for getting on a bike. That doesn't feel like a safety first mentality from a "safety" course. I am not a newbie rider. I currently ride on an 87 Honda Super Magna VF700 and a Honda ADV and grew up learning how to ride a motorcycle in NYC, so I have seen a few tough rides in my day. But frankly, I did not feel the least bit comfortable at all with this whole thing. Let's put 20 people with varying skill levels in a parking lot and see how well we lean and maneuver in the rain? Seems sketchy at best considering the amount of people there that could barely even figure out how to use their clutch. Despite the friendly staff, I cannot recommend this course to anyone in good conscience. It was the most unsafe I have ever felt on two wheels and it cost me roughly 700 bucks plus an injury.

Fantastic experience: I took the beginner permit course for motorcycle, never ridden before, it’s a three day weekend class and it was so much fun and afterwards I felt a lot more comfortable and confident on the bike. The instructors are great and really knowledgeable. I highly recommend this class to gain more knowledge and practice on a bike to learn to ride safely! Thanks Tao and Tiago!

Fantastic experience: Have very helpful classes. In my case, I did the Advanced Skills course (soon to be renamed to Essential Skills) for anyone who's got their endorsement and potentially even just a permit (depending on confidence, endorsement is expected though). This particular course was incredibly valuable in that it did 3 things: - Identified and pointed out myths and issues with cornering technique, such as the idea you should never use your brakes while cornering (you absolutely should). - Showed us how to engage proper stopping power on the motorcycle. We can stop as fast as cars, but it requires technique and practice. - Showed us how to take corners safely, make adjustments while cornering, recover from mistakes and work around hazards to always make it through blind turns safely and smoothly. I'll be practicing the things we've learned to build muscle memory and become a strong motorcyclist. Strongly recommend all motorcyclists to take courses here and improve your skills and understanding.

Jiahui Zhang 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: Street skills class is a superb addition if you just got your permit. it reinforces your emergency breaking skills and helps you better maneuver through the corners with trail breaking. Just be careful the time slot you choose as Seattle sun can be insufferable during summer

Elijah Bowen 1 year ago

Positive experience: Street Skills class. Good class for new riders to take to familiarize themselves with ways to stay safe when coming accross dangerous situations on the road.

Louis Kim 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: Street skills course perfect for experienced and relatively new riders alike. The heavy focus on threshold braking and trail braking cornering will make anyone a better motorcyclist. Highly recommended!

Anjee 1 year ago

Negative experience: Laura and Brandon were my instructors. Laura just read off the cards, was not engaging. Not a lot of feedback was given even when asked. Brandon was upset cause his bike was totaled and wasn’t really into being there. Instructions were to pay attention to the bike you ride on the first day cause you’ll be using that throughout but that was not the case. Different bikes were brought out and I saw people were struggling because the bikes were too low/high. Nothing was done to help this. Very last part of class an instructor named Mike came in and it was night/day with his instructions and how he projected his voice and explained all the drills. If you can def sign with him otherwise for the price I feel really ripped off having eh instructors. It’s expensive and I hoped assumed for a better experience and good communication at the very least. I feel like they should add practice in that matches the actual test you’ll take. Disappointed I chose this company.

Fantastic experience: I recently had the pleasure of taking three one-hour driving lessons with Daniel to learn how to drive a manual transmission, and I couldn't be more thrilled with my experience! Learning to drive a stick shift has always been a bucket list item for me, and thanks to Daniel, I can proudly check it off my list. First and foremost, Daniel's teaching style is exceptional. He has a unique ability to break down complex concepts into easy-to-understand steps. As someone who was initially nervous about driving a stick shift, Daniel's calm and reassuring demeanor immediately put me at ease. His clear explanations and step-by-step approach made the learning process enjoyable and stress-free. Daniel's patience is truly commendable. He never once made me feel rushed or pressured, even when I made mistakes. Instead, he provided constructive feedback and positive reinforcement, which boosted my confidence behind the wheel. His encouragement and support were invaluable in helping me progress quickly. Additionally, Daniel's passion for teaching and his extensive knowledge of manual transmission driving were evident in every lesson. He went above and beyond to ensure I understood not just the "how," but also the "why" behind each technique. This comprehensive understanding made a significant difference in my ability to grasp and retain the skills. The car provided for the lessons was well-maintained and perfect for a beginner. Daniel took the time to familiarize me with the vehicle, ensuring I felt comfortable before hitting the road. His attention to detail and commitment to safety were top-notch. Thanks to Daniel, I now feel confident and competent driving a manual transmission. If you're looking to learn how to drive a stick shift, I highly recommend Daniel as your instructor. His expertise, patience, and dedication to his students make him the best choice for anyone eager to master this skill. Thank you, Daniel, for helping me achieve a long-time goal and for an incredible learning experience!

Fantastic experience: Just took the beginner motorcycle safety class with instructors Jacob, Sean, and Mike. Let me tell you these guys were absolutely amazing. Jacob mentioned it was his first time leading a class and he totally blew it out of the water, a very young, charismatic, and knowledgeable guy. Sean was the second instructor who ran a majority of the demos and made recommendations or gave encouragement throughout the exercises. Mike the program director, has all my respect, loads of charisma and commands authority with it. Questions were answered with great respect and consideration for you skill level. I found it extremely helpful to ask questions as I was able to see immediate improvement following their advice. All the instructors were very personable and cracked jokes constantly which made everyone extremely comfortable during drills and classroom time. Never once was I confused on how to complete a drill or with a topic covered in class. 5/5 experience, Jacob clearly has a future in teaching and Mike and Sean would be perfect to keep doing what they're already doing. These guys made everything fun, would love to have them again for the endorsement class.

Fantastic experience: Street Skills 101: Brent observed our maneuvers with the emergency stopping and brake trailing for the full half of the day. The amount you learn even after riding “correctly” for 2+ years is worth it and could save your life. The take away is that when you are fresh off of your endorsement you remember the concepts, this allows you to enhance said skills and improve on them for the real world. The class size was great, and attention detail the payoff.

Fantastic experience: I had an absolutely fantastic experience with WMST Washington for motorcycle training. From start to finish, they exceeded my expectations in every way. The instructors were not only knowledgeable but also incredibly patient and encouraging. They took the time to ensure that I fully understood the techniques and safety measures necessary for riding a motorcycle. The training was not just about passing the test but about becoming a confident and responsible rider. The course was well-structured, covering everything from basic riding skills to more advanced maneuvers. I appreciated the emphasis on safety and the importance of defensive riding techniques. They provided a safe and controlled environment for us to practice, which made all the difference in building my confidence on the road. The equipment and facilities were top-notch. The motorcycles were in excellent condition, and the training area was spacious and well-maintained. What truly sets WMST Washington apart is their commitment to their students' success. They genuinely care about your progress and safety, which is evident in their dedication to teaching. I felt well-prepared for my motorcycle permit test and, more importantly, for real-world riding. If you're considering motorcycle training in Washington, I can't recommend WMST highly enough. Whether you're a beginner or looking to improve your riding skills, this is the place to go. Thank you to the entire team for such an outstanding experience. I am now one step closer to being a confident and responsible rider, thanks to WMST Washington! Thanks again! Amy Girouard

Fantastic experience: I've taken four (4) courses so far. Let me explain a little about each. KICKSTARTER CLASS: Although I had riding experience, it had been a while since I had ridden. Due to time, and other factors, I thought my physical abilities to safely operate a motorcycle may have been affected. So, to make sure I could, I took the class. My concerns were quickly addressed, and I found minimal issues that would impact my ability to tide and complete further education. PERMIT CLASS: I took some time to research what type of bike I wanted. I settled on a Harley Davidson product. That in mind, I took the Harley permit course. It is a WMST course sponsored by Harley Dealership and features exclusively Harley Davidson bikes. Unfortunately, I experienced some severe discomfort during the second day that affected my ability to complete the course. I self-withdrew, rather than put other students at risk. At this point I would like to address the negative review below. If one is removed from a class by one of these instructors, it stands to reason that they are concerned about the safety of the entire class as well as the individual. I wouldn't blame someone else for protecting me from something I'm not ready for or adept to. Thats just my perspective. I signed up to retake the Permit class at another location and using a different bike. I couldn't applaud the Instructor Chuck more for his innate ability to not only teach us but to reinforce our self-confidence for success. I did complete the class successfully receiving my permit; but also realizing I needed more practice and instruction. RETURNING RIDER CLASS (Endorsement testing): Once again I had Chuck as an instructor. Chuck saw our weaknesses and challenges help us focus on improvement and success. This proved invaluable and emphasized the importance of practice and continuing education. Not only will I be seeking additional training through WMST, but I also hope to one day instruct to share and pay forward the valuable lessons I learned.

Fantastic experience: Greg and James were great instructors that helped me learn a lot while taking the permit classes, both in the classroom and at the range.

Fantastic experience: I highly recommend WMST's Street Skills 101 course taught by Brent. Other than the instruction I had received over ten years ago to prepare me for my motorcycle endorsement, I had had not taken any other riding classes. To enjoy riding more, I wanted to overcome my fear of locking the brakes and to overcome my fear of cornering at low speed. After four hours of instruction on a drizzly morning, I overcame these fears by learning two new skills that exactly met my needs: how to confidently reduce my braking distance and how to trail brake. The class size was small and manageable. Brent paid attention to each student and offered specific advice to each of us to make sure that we were applying each new technique correctly and consistently. We were also given the opportunity to try each practice activity without the new skill being taught so that we could see what a difference it would make. Although I took an electric motorcycle (a 2017 Zero S) to this class, Brent's instructions were easy to follow and adapt to a bike with no clutch to feather. There is no reason to avoid taking an electric motorcycle to a class like this; all of the skills being taught translate well. The day started dark and drizzly, but the lessons were not canceled or modified to take rain into account. No student was asked to ride beyond their comfort level. Nobody dropped their bike. Nobody seemed to be having trouble as a result of puddles or wet pavement. This course has helped me ride with greater confidence because I have learned skills that displace the fears that had limited my enjoyment of motorcycling (for the record: fears that have nothing to do with whether the bike runs on gas or electricity). I look forward to more advanced training so that I can enjoy many more years of riding.

Fantastic experience: This summer and fall of 2023 I did the Kickstart class, Permit, then right to Endorsement class. I had Greg Hamblen, and Cyndi Martin. They were both really great. Great information, while keeping it light, engaging, and fun. I used to ride a automatic scooter back in the 90's so I didn't know how to shift. I highly recommend the Kickstart class, if you have no experience with bikes and shifting at all. However if you want you can go straight to the permit class and you will be fine too. I just like the Kickstart because they take more time to gradually ease you into riding. If you don't have helmet they will supply one. The bikes they had when I was there are BMW G310R, Small Honda Rebels, and one Yamaha TW200, and few other standard bikes. Thank you WMST for great course and good times.

Fantastic experience: Here's an in-depth review of the motorcycle permit course for the folks that need every little detail to feel prepared: first, I had a fantastic experience taking my course here. Bruce Brown was the instructor for our group of 6 and he was wonderful to work with...very positive and encouraging, and safety is his #1 priority. One person was either asked to leave or dropped the course voluntarily (not sure which) due to extreme fear/anxiety and not having control of their bike -- unfortunate, but made me feel safer riding during group exercises knowing Bruce was attentive and that everyone was able to maintain control relatively well. I sincerely appreciated Bruce's teaching style (he did a demo for every maneuver), waved us aside to give feedback when needed, and was great at explaining things to our group. He is an amazing listener, asked us all what bikes we had and if we had preferences, and found the closest matches for us to learn on. I was happy about not having to learn on a bike completely different than my own. The range in Everett for the skills portion is a ~10 minute drive from the classroom. It has a porta John (no reason to not stay hydrated), but as a warning, the lot has zero shade, so if you're taking your course in the summer I recommend both sunscreen and a ridiculous amount of ice water/Gatorade. One of the absolute angels in our class brought a tent for shade on day 2, but day 1 was not easy to get through in full gear. I'd have two critiques for WMST: provide some tents for shade, and give the paint a re-fresh...some paths were difficult to see due to faded paint. If you've never so much as touched a motorcycle before, I'd suggest the "KickStart" course. If you've done a decent amount of research or light riding in the past, the permit course should be no problem for you. FYI the permit skills test included a cone weave; turn from a stop, U-turn, then stop with front wheel in a box; obstacle swerve (timed); “quick” stop with a max stopping distance (timed), and basic cornering (timed). All of the timed maneuvers require a speed of around 20MPH, I believe. Highly recommend getting into 2nd for the cornering assessment. The classroom portion was engaging and the written test consisted of 50 very basic questions; you will pass with flying colors if you listen to your instructor -- reading the manual beforehand is not necessary but encouraged. Have fun and don't be nervous!

Fantastic experience: This program was great! I recommend this for everyone that's trying to look for a good drivers-ed school. I was able to sit down and listen without being bored out of my mind. Also the people that take you out on drives are very helpful and very kind. This was a great experience meeting new people and having good conversations with both other students and teacher.

Fantastic experience: Excellent course. Every rider from beginner to advanced should take a course like this. I have been riding for 40+ years and this helped to improve my skills.

Fantastic experience: Street Skills 101. Excellent class. Learned two important components of being a better rider. What is the fully capable application of braking? And fine tuning my trail braking skill. Appreciate the knowledgeable instructor.

Negative experience: Save yourself time and especially money and go to Pudget Sound Safety. WMST is all about money especially Stacy aka Karen who likes to call consumers that complain about their rates to the Washington State Attorney general's office STINK! Last year I took the test for my permit to ride a motorcycle as an alternative form of transportation because of the rising cost of gas, I signed up for one of WMST's courses to get my permit which I paid over $300 for which was fine, but at the end of the course my nerves got the best of me and I failed the test. I failed the test and blame no one but myself, but when I had to pay another $75 to restest with WMST this is where my complaint stemmed from. See money was tight for me, as it was for a lot of other people, so I struggled to understand why after spending over $300 to take the course I had to pay another fee, why couldn't one retake be included, this was my complaint to the WA AGO. Fast forward to April of 2023 where I now need to take the course and test for the motorcycle endorsement test, and WMST's course is the closest and works best with my schedule, so I proceed to book the class. Today, Stacy with WMST decided she should call me, so I can defend my complaint from last July, and question rather or not WMST was right for me. Well after 30 minutes and Stacy asking repeatedly if WMST was right for me, I hung up on Stacy as I don't think I should have to defend myself when I complain against their company regarding their costs with the Washington State AGO. A program that is supposed to provide a safe space for consumers to voice their complaints against businesses, apparently it's not that safe. the costs to consumers are excessive and the public is at the mercy of these programs and that's not fair.

Fantastic experience: I've taken two courses here and enjoyed both of them. I've been riding motorcycles for almost 30 years and couldn't believe how much I learned at my intermediate permit class.

Negative experience: I recently took the motorcycle course offered on August 12 2023 in Everett and unfortunately, I left with mixed feelings. The instructor's bias towards my lack of familiarity with the training motorcycle left me frustrated and disappointed. During the training, I was told that I was looking down instead of keeping my focus up ahead, which, according to the instructor, was hindering my progress. However, the core purpose of the training was to teach us how to navigate obstacles on the ground. What made matters worse was that the instructor used this reason to send me home early. This left me feeling like I didn't receive the full benefit of the course and that my concerns were not taken seriously. Additionally, I found the course content to be less effective than I had hoped. The instructor frequently veered off-topic, delving into personal anecdotes and chitchatting about unrelated subjects. This lack of focus on the core lecture made it difficult for me to fully grasp the concepts being taught. I enrolled in this course to improve my motorcycle skills, not to hear about the instructor's personal life. Overall, I can't help but feel that the course failed to deliver on its promises. The biased treatment and lack of focus on essential course content left me dissatisfied with the experience. I hope that the instructors can address these issues in the future to ensure a more productive and valuable learning environment for all students.

Fantastic experience: I recently completed the permit course in Silverdale with Eric, Cyndi, and Brett. All three were fantastic instructors, and I could tell that they really cared about student training and success. I would highly recommend taking a course with them!
