Fantastic experience: Gina was the perfect instructor for my daughter. She was encouraging, thorough, and kind. Our whole experience with Mountain States has been incredibly positive!

Negative experience: I had an extremely negative experience with Connie at Mountain States Drivers Education in Loveland, CO. From the moment I walked into the office, she was rude and unprofessional. At one point, she scoffed and audibly muttered “JESUS” under her breath, which I found offensive and disrespectful. She also snapped at me to take a seat while I was waiting for assistance. To make matters worse, when I later tried to address my concerns over the phone, Connie hung up on me multiple times. When I attempted to call back, she refused to answer my calls, forcing me to reach out to another office for help. This kind of behavior is completely unacceptable, especially in a business that serves the public. I was left feeling dismissed and disrespected, and I would strongly caution others against using this location based on my experience.

This is simply not true. I’m sorry you were confused and showed up at the wrong site for your drive test. We tried to accommodate you, but your license plates were expired. We do everything we can to help our customers. Unfortunately, sometimes there just isn’t anything we can do. Since we have 5 locations, please double-check where you are scheduled. Please make sure you have everything you need to test as well. Thank you in advance for making this extra effort.

Fantastic experience: I took my drivers test here and it was a very positive experience. Expect that your test might be delayed. My test was about 15 mins late because of the previous test getting held up which is nobody's fault. Mike was very very nice and made me feel less nervous about the test. He gave clear instructions and afterwards thoroughly explained my results, errors etc. It is clear that he knows what he is doing. The testing car is kind of janky and jolty, which is again not the fault of anyone and other than that I had a great experience here.

Fantastic experience: I recently completed my driver’s ed with Gina Miller, and I can’t recommend her enough! She was an amazing instructor who made the whole experience enjoyable and stress-free. Gina's calm demeanor put me at ease right from our first lesson. She was attentive and respectful, always making sure I felt comfortable behind the wheel. Her clear instructions and patient approach helped me build confidence in my driving skills. Overall, it was an amazing experience, and I’m so grateful for her guidance!

Negative experience: Nobody there to answer the phones if you need to call them at any location, buy a lesson for your child up front and they dont tell you they are booked out for weeks, no customer service. Look elsewhere to get help for your child. If you do get to book a lesson, you will be driving to several different locations all over to try and find an opening which are weeks out. 0 stars if I could. Expensive and zero professionism. They are booked out because it is something people have to have.

Negative experience: My wife came home crying because her instructor was rude straight off the bat and from what I can tell was purposely intimidating I don't recommend this place and I really don't recommend the instructor by the name of Anthony. If you are going to do a test here I highly suggest specifically asking for anyone but Anthony. He started off rude ended rude and marked her down for going 30mph in a school zone that did not have the school zone lights flashing because it was 5pm. The speed limit in that zone is 30mph when school zone is not flashing. Doing 20mph in a 30mph zone when the school lights aren't flashing is dangerous. The driving instructor Anthony needs to go back to driving school himself if he thinks it is safe to do 10mph under the speed limit out side of school hours. Do not go here if you live in loveland go to any of the neighboring towns and you will have a better more respectful experience And do NOT TRY AND SAY THE SCHOOL ZONE LIGHTS WERE FLASHING!! I WAS THERE FOLLOWING. the lights were not on and she was doing the speed limit. If she was going slower it would be more dangerous!

I’m sorry your wife failed her drive test. An applicant cannot fail a test for the reason you mentioned. It is also suspicious that you were following us on the test and waiting at home at the same time. Please consider studying the Colorado Driver’s Handbook. This is what the test is based on and what you are expected to know during your test. Please don’t expect to pass if you have not studied this book. This book is available free of charge on our website. Thank you for the thousands of applicants that come here every year who have studied, practiced, and prepared for their test. It is our desire for everyone to pass their test. This could easily happen if every applicant properly prepared themselves.

I am sorry you failed your drive test. Whether your 16 years old or 96 years old, we need you to stop for stop signs. If any applicant runs a stop sign and does not attempt to stop, it is an automatic failure. The good news is this is an easy fix. Stop signs are the only 8-sided sign in the traffic system and can be recognized due to their unique shape from the front or the back. Please work on your scanning and I think you will do much better in the future. Thanks again for all the applicants that do stop at stop signs. This helps keep everyone safe.

Negative experience: Notice this place has many bad reviews, other review places show an 11% approval rating. Each negative review has excuses and deflection from the company. Believe the bad reviews and find someplace else. They only want your money and will tell you whatever they can to insist you are doing something wrong. From start to finish, this place has been a headache with little to no customer service. We regret bringing our money here and mostly felt the classes were not worth the time, let alone the money. If you have the time and patience to teach your teen to drive, don't bother with this place and find another place for the exam. These people are delusional.

Mountain States Driver's Education Inc.
Mountain States Driver's Education Inc.

It is easy to look at our Google rating and see that all 5 offices have over 4 stars. Typically, the only bad reviews we receive are from customers who fail their driving test. Given that we do not know who this customer is, I will address the review from that point. As I tell anyone who fails the drive test, we address what went wrong, tell them how to fix the mistakes and how to study for the test. Please follow this advice and I am confident you will be able to pass a driving exam. I would like to also thank the 300 customers that call or come to MSDE every day. I appreciate the community support and we will always do our best to make sure you have the best cars, best curriculum, and best instructors. We will continue to earn your business everyday. This is our commitment to you.

Negative experience: Major waste of $80. Had never taken a test or classes in Colorado and the communication was sub par at best. No idea that if I failed there was no more chances and would lose my $80. Arthur was hasty with me at the start, and pushed me out of my good vibe when he robotically told me how to go test the car to be ready. Then in my rushed feeling test, I was docked for steering wheel positioning, tight/wide turns, and pace of lane switching - and subsequently failed - I don't think I would have failed in a normal setting, given 10,000 hours of driving experience, even in semis and large trucks... Other customers apparently have had some issues as well, but I would have been okay with better questions and intro. This poor driving test fal experience would not have happened had I not felt a unexpected sudden nervousness due to the drivers hasty, overwhelming attitude. If you want to just take your test, don't go here. At least he handed me off to Mike to review my driving and give me a "free" opportunity to practice, but after we reviewing what I did wrong, I realized I deserved better communication or another test on the house. I tried calling in, but after a call back was told the owner was too busy to discuss the matter. I would not recommend this company due to poor communication. I'll never use this company again, but hope they improve their service. Even though they wouldn't help me out given the timing, to the point that would have left me stranded from getting my license before traveling, I found a driver school in Longmont that had immediate availability. They also advertise a calm and comfortable experience, which is what I was expecting the first time, I suppose... The environment and test was hectic, leaving lots of room for improvement for a professional drivers test experience. As an SEO specialist I would emphasize they need better driver school competition in the area... Perhaps another local business can pick up the slack.

I am sorry your failed your driving test. Unfortunately, this test was so bad, we gave him a free 1-hour tutoring session afterwards as he was simply not safe. Please consider studying the Colorado Driver's Handbook and practicing before your next test. This is a much better plan than deflecting.

Negative experience: We showed up yesterday for my child’s driving lesson. We were nonchalantly told that the appointment was cancelled because the driver quit and that they left us a message. My reply was I never received a message. We discover that the voicemail was left on my 14 year olds nonexistent voicemail. Then we were told we can come back in 6 weeks. There was no apology, no care whatsoever. I pulled my child out of school, left work early and all they could do was look at me like “oh well”. I told the lady I was very upset and she replied that “I could leave and reschedule later”. Worst customer service ever! If we were to have missed our appointment we would have been charged a fee. They did not try to email me or call my correct phone number. They should have tried a little harder to reach me. We arranged our day around this appointment. The lady could care less how inconvenienced we were. If I were to have messed up one of my clients appointments I would have said sorry first of all! Second, I would have made sure to get the client back in asap.

Mountain States Driver's Education Inc.
Mountain States Driver's Education Inc.

Unfortunately we sometimes have to reschedule appointments. When we call all the numbers on your registration form, leave messages on the voicemails that work, and do this 5 days before your scheduled appointment, we believe this has been resolved. Please also note that we will always try to get you in as soon as possible. We are limited to your schedule lining up with our schedule. If there is an urgency, please let us know. We want to get you driving as soon as possible. I also want to thank all our customers for their support over the years. We appreciate all our customers.

Positive experience: I am a student at this school and have passed most of my quizzes with a 100 or 90%. The teachers were respectful and very informational teachers. Negative experience: Do not book here if you actually want your child to learn to drive. I would recommend that you run, not walk to another driving school or you will likely spend your future walking since your license will be revoked. Let me count the things wrong with this place. 1. The receptionist, Connie, is a miserable, rude and unhelpful person. She needs to learn some customer service skills. 2. My son signed up for online classes. You need to also complete a paper workbook. Despite the high cost of the class, the workbook is provided as a copy of a copy of a copy(you get the picture) that is poor quality and the diagrams are hard to read. 3. When it came time to schedule your driving hours, good luck. Connie was rude yet again and very difficult to get in touch with. 4.Their systems/practices are old school. Their customers would benefit from appointment confirmations via text or email with all pertinent details, especially since they have multiple locations and some appointments require you to bring certain documents. The process is cumbersome and the people are rude. 5. Lastly, the driving hours were a joke. They spent time at every appointment taking the instructor for fast food or coffee. They didn’t even pay attention when my son was driving and instead just told him some things that the test would require him to do. You are supposed to do in town, highway and mountain. Loveland to Fort Collins doesn’t seem like enough highway time for a 2 hour appointment and my son never went on a mountain road. 6. Most critically, the person that answers the phone, Connie, is so rude and unhelpful that she will make you want to pull your hair out. 0 out of 10 stars - Do Not Recommend!

This customer had come with incorrect information that only the Department of Revenue (DOR) could fix. It is not possible for us to fix incorrect information sent to the DOR. With regard to the other false statements: 1. If a customer comes in angry, we can't change your attitude. You are in charge of your behavior; 2. We use a peer-reviewed curriculum produced by Prentice-Hall publishers. This is the highest quality curriculum that we could find. Unfortunately, they have discontinued some of these products, but they are still worth using. 3. Although we drive 7 days per week (closed on some Federal holidays), we cannot always find a schedule that works for some customers. Given this wide-range of availability, please consider being flexible with your schedule as this will allow more driving opportunities; 4. Although my B.S. is in Biology, I did also obtain my teaching degree from CSU. I hold PLACE certifications in science and driver's education. Like much of the staff, we come from public school teaching backgrounds or law enforcement backgrounds. When you attend classes here, the look and feel will be much like a traditional classroom; 5. Although we do have a structured driving curriculum, we have to meet students at their current skill level. We cannot move forward with our lesson plans (such as extended highway driving) when a student is still struggling with basic driving skills. We need parents as part of our team to help the student become a safe, licensed driver. Please take your practice time seriously. Drive lessons with our instructors are not used for personal errands; 6. This review is meant to be an attack on the receptionist. If you walk into a business and have conflict with a complete stranger, the problem may be you. Please consider how you can make life smoother by being polite and courteous to the people in front of you.

Negative experience: THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE ! Having to retake my drivers' test and providing all correct DMV documentation requirements is stressful enough!! The employees of this driving school were awful, rude and completing judgmental about my situation not only on the phone but in person too. Instead of assuming about a person and their information, maybe asking the customer questions to get the information's they need would be appreciated. I think businesses like this only stay in business' because its a requirement for some public citizens. This does not give anymore the right to be disrespectful. I will not be taking my teenage son here for his driving tests. If I could give zero stars, I would.

I am sorry that the State took away your instruction permit. Please understand that we have no control over the State. Once you get it reinstated, we would be happy to test you. Without a learner's permit it is not possible. I realize it is convenient to blame us for your problems. Please remember we are trying to help you. We are not the ones stopping you from having a permit or a license.

Negative experience: The testing agent (the owner) was very condescending and unprofessional. He talked down to my daughter making her feel stupid before the test began. He didn’t have a neutral demeanor and interfered with the test by inserting negative comments. He should have simply indicated what he wanted her to do without feedback or comment until after the test was over. Throughout the test he was confusing with his directions and would grab the steering wheel whenever he saw fit. A failed test is a reflection of their teaching system. If the driving test agent is going to be mean during the test, they should prepare their students for that during their lessons.

I am sorry your daughter failed her test. It's discouraging when you see a parent who wasn't even here publicly post a slanderous review. She forgot to mention that her daughter showed up without her permit and that I gave up my break to make sure she was able to test today. Then within a period of 2 blocks, the applicant was almost in 3 separate car crashes. This is unprecedented in my 23 years of doing drive tests. It is unreasonable for anyone to expect us to let their child crash our car. Grabbing the steering wheel and stepping on the passenger brake was a necessity to avoid these crashes. The situation was compounded by one of the near crashes honking and yelling at us. I have no doubt that this added to the applicant's discouragement. It is clear to me that the parents did not make the necessary efforts to actually teach the student to drive. If you do not want to spend the time, I encourage you to pay for more driving instruction. Compared to the cost of a crash, it is money well spent. As we get ready to enter our 24th year of business, I want to thank the community for all your support. We have the best cars, instructors, and curriculum. Please compare and I think you will agree.

Benjamin Q Hindes 2 years ago

Positive experience: It was a class that taught exactly what it was supposed to I don't have any other driving school to compare but there seems to be a curriculum that all driving schools must follow so if this place is close then go for it but if there's a closer school then there's no need to drive farther they did do a tire replacement but they didn't use a torque wrench and said that you just had to tighten the lug nuts until it seemed right this is somewhat reckless and makes your car a danger to the road because if you do not tighten the lug nuts enough you loose a tire and if you tighten the lug nuts to much it could damage the threading I asked why they didn't use a torque wrench and the instructor said it was expensive but I did some research and non electric torque wrenches were around 25-17 dollars you do need another part called a torque wrench socket but you can get a pack of these that will have enough versatility for you to not need to buy something like This for as long as you'll be driving a car and you can search up the weight you need for your model of car learn how to use a torque wrench and it makes it significantly safer tires and cars are more expensive then 50 dollars I change my parents car tires every winter and summer when i need to switch the tires from winter to summer tires so I feel like I'd be able to give a bit of advice

I’m sorry your son failed his drive test, but these statements are not true. Everyday people of all races, religions, genders, and ages come for a drive test. In addition, we have same level of diversity in our staff. The reality is when you almost crash into 3 cars coming from 3 different directions, you are not ready for a driver’s license. Fix the problems with your driving that I told you about and then try again.

Fantastic experience: Mountain States Driver's Education is run by a group of skillful and friendly driving instructors. They teach new drivers the fundamentals of road safety and also test driving competency for those with driving permits from DMV. I was at Mountain States Driver’s Education for a road driving test and met with courteous professionals. One will need to make an appointment by phone or on their website to have a time for the test in any of their locations in Loveland, Fort Collins, Windsor or other locations in CO. Their office in Loveland is easily accessible and has a good ambience for one in their industry. I had a good experience doing my road test with them. They run a good fleet of cars and also allow for the option of drivers testing with their personal cars so long as they meet all the requirements. It snowed somewhat heavily during my test and I was pleasantly surprised that one of their managers was so kind to help scrap snow off my windshield and windows. I recommend them for anyone seeking to have a road test.

Fantastic experience: Great class. They give you important information that you will need and they explain it well. It is very helpful.

Travis Thor 4 years ago

Positive experience: It was a class, I learned what I needed too and they weren’t here to entertain us, with that said I didn’t enjoy most of it but was happy to note the hands on work that we had done including changing a tire and getting into the car to actually see what’s going on.

Positive experience: You are learning what you need to pass your test. Places for food are close and convenient. Be prepared for a super cold classroom.

Negative experience: I came into get information since I was close by. The front desk receptionist was on the phone with I am assuming her husband, didn't acknowledge I was waiting until a instructor walked in. She ended her call sat back in her chair with her hands folded and said what can I help you with!? With attitude. I said hi yes just wanted to get driver ed information for my children, she said well what kind of information? Not friendly at all! I have been here before and got wonderful service. I needed 3 of my children to take classes and im pretty bummed that I didn't get what I wanted to ask. I have been on the web site and seen prices. I had a friend bring her child here and I just wanted some questions answered to give me a peace of mind. After the experience I had I will not come back or recommend any of my friend's or family. I live right behind this place and if anyone starts talking about looking for driver education place to take their kids, I have always said bring them here just from the last experience I had she was wonderful! But now I wouldn't want them experiencing that.

Positive experience: The class can be very boring at times, but for it’s purpose it is a very good and valuable experience to have.

Positive experience: Good place. Gave us plenty of information about cars and the rules of the road. Instructors were nice and gave us plenty of study sources. The classes can get boring though and they take up a lot of the day. But, this place is nice and I would recommend it.

Positive experience: The drivers education is pretty good. They showed us how to change tires, what caps were what under the hood, the necessities to have in your car, and they showed us videos and had us do tests on them, so we could learn.

Jonathan Filkins 4 years ago

Negative experience: Just watched one of the driving instructors blow through a stop sign. Right next to their office too. When I pulled up to ask why he just blew through the stop sign he was too busy doing paperwork in the driver's seat to even notice I was talking to him. And these are the people that "teach" your kids how to drive or pass/fail them for the very same things they do probably on the daily.

Fantastic experience: They have very nice instructors and allow us to take a 5 minute break every hour. They also give us the privilege to eat at nearby restaurant’s

Fantastic experience: For being a short 32 hour class the pacing is very good, not too much or too little information to be learning each unit. The teacher teaches well and also knows how to have fun using things like kahoot to review for tests. Good class

Fantastic experience: Very cool and friendly place. Our instructor made a fun way for us to learn and we learned so much in one day. I reccomended this place to a friend because it's a learning style they'd like. This is a good place to go

Positive experience: Very good community, the classes are quite long while you are just sitting their but the teachers make it fun!

Jim Bennett 4 years ago

Negative experience: Large, short lady was my intended instructor, very rude, unprofessional and told me my broad form insurance card wouldn’t work. I had already been cleared by the nice fellow at the front desk with the same insurance card. She was 20 minutes late. I brought up my full policy online and she said that would work but that I was too much into my time and would have to reschedule for the next day even though the very nice man with the next appointment volunteered to give me his slot. I was so mad I told them to give me my 60.00 cash back and it would be a cold day in hell when I ever needed their services again!

Negative experience: They were very kind but had difficulty understanding out-of-state paperwork and were not timely or clear in communicating whether or not they were willing to test. If your driver has an out of state permit - I highly recommend going through a different school or use the DMV.

The easiest path for most out-of-state permit holders is to get a Colorado permit which then can be verified for driver's license testing purposes.

Fantastic experience: The instructors are very fun and make things practical. I had Bruce on my first day, and Mindy the last three, and they both made the class fun and the information was easy to retain. I would definitely recommend it to others!

Fantastic experience: This class was fun and the teacher made it fun. Even the sub was fantastic. Before I came to the class I thought I would be bored and not have fun. But thankfully I was wrong. I also learned a lot from this class and glad I took it.

Positive experience: I would rate this class at four stars. The class taught me almost everything I need for driving in the real world. I would highly recommend Mountain States Loveland location for drivers ed.

Sami Templeton 5 years ago

Positive experience: I enjoyed my time at mountain state, my instructor was Mindy and she was great! My only complaint is that it is hard to learn about the same topic for an 8 hour day 4 days in a row. Also, the class room is VERY cold. But overall great experience

Aidan Williams 5 years ago

Fantastic experience: Good classroom and teachings, friendly staff, comfy chairs. Huge thanks to Mindy for bringing us donuts, real pick-me-up. I loved the place, and I definitely will recommend it to other people.

Ella Perkins 5 years ago

Positive experience: I really liked the class and everyone in it was really nice. My instructor Mindy was very kind and made driving seem easy, we also get to learn how to change a tire which is very practical. The only thing is the tables were really crowded and it was hard to get out, but other than that it was a really great class!

Sarah Morales 6 years ago

Negative experience: We pulled in so my child could take the driving test and I watched with my own eyes another kid taking their test who pulled into the parking lot with the man who gives the test. The kids hits and drives up on the curve with the back tire yet passes the test. My child goes on her test and comes back and the man fails her because she didn't move her head upwards to look out of the mirror, she just kept get head still but moved her eyes. Then they tell us we have to pay again to retake it. Lesson learned: hit and run up on the curve...pass, look in your mirrors but don't move your head...fail. The only reason I have 2 stars is because the lady in there was very kind.

Positive experience: My daughter has learned so much in this class. From what she has shared with me, the class is very comprehensive. She did say that the classroom is cool so bring a jacket. Would recommend to others to give your kiddos a great start driving.

Jackson Maurer 27 6 years ago

Positive experience: I learned a lot of new stuff and I loved the breaks we got every hour. The setup for teaching and learning is not very well designed, I had to constantly change positions in my chair to see the instructor and the screens. There was also not a lot of room In between chairs and tables.

Holden Wierema 6 years ago

Positive experience: This is a great place to learn the basics of driving safely as well as some of the many rules and regulations of the road. I enjoyed the class and it made me realize that many of the things that we see people do while driving are neither safe nor legal. I am very glad that we learned defensive driving and I feel as though this will be a very useful thing out on the road. One thing that I did not like about this class was the orientation of the tables. The tables are positioned so that you must turn your head all day to be able to see what the instructor is doing. If they simply rotated them ninety degrees, the problem would be solved. However, this was a minor inconvenience in a relatively enjoyable and useful class. Four stars.
