We offer easy, effective, and affordable driver safety courses both in classroom and online. Our classroom courses are available primarily on selected Saturday’s, with the occasional weeknight class in Vancouver, Washington and Albany, Oregon. Our online courses are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. NTSI courses are available in every state, Canada and Mexico. We have five regional centers, numerous certified instructors, and are court approved in most states.

Fantastic experience: Always convenient to be able to do it from home, at a reasonable price. There is no way to bypass the 6hr requirement - so it is what it is. You can space it out a bit (it will save your progress), so you are not giving up 6hrs in 1 day. Keep your security answers handy.

Negative experience: They never sent me a email to set the course up it took me over to hours and 6 calls to register use the other companies!

Our online courses are user friendly and you can either register online or call us to register. Calling us to register would only take one call. Fantastic experience: I'm 73 and well don't have a college degree so I'm always apprehensive about taking any test but your course was easy to follow on my laptop all the questions and answers come from the course material and it was easy to pass each section, and finally they send you the certificate to your address when you sign up thanks again Grandpa john

Positive experience: I enjoyed taking this course at home. I noticed the final quiz had the reaction time 'increases' while on the cell phone! Earlier in the quiz I also noticed that the headlights are to be on 'one half hour after sunset to one half hour before sunrise'. I thought it was one half hour before sunset and one half hour after sunrise.

Negative experience: I took the 5 hour pre-licensing course and there were so many technical issues that could not be resolved. I was blocked from continuing the course multiple times because I was answering security questions about myself CORRECTLY which kept getting labeled as incorrect. I was even using google chrome, the site they suggest you take the course on. Customer service would unblock my course but seemed not to care about the actual issue. Will not be using their services again

Negative experience: Do not take your course with this company as I needed this course in order to get my license reinstated I did the course and it’s taking five days to send my completion to the DMV. I keep calling they told me to call back on Monday as it was the weekend which is understandable, so I call back Monday morning actually Monday at noon time and I get the excuse that the woman that does, it is not in the office, so I can no longer can drive and I have to sit here with a suspended license because she doesn’t want to come into work. I highly recommend finding an alternative company to give your money to. If you need this preventative course I am starting to believe they have scammed me of my money I have not even seen a completion certificate , otherwise I would send it to the DMV so be careful giving this company your money

Positive experience: I found it time consuming having to wait extra time to move on, especially if you completed the module earlier than expected. You can forget what you learned. You should be able to move on to the test. Twenty minutes is a long time waiting for a clock to run out, when you're finished. even if you go over the module three times. The clock is still ticking. i was waiting longer to move on than to take the test. Also, move through the yellow high lights before it has started, speaking on the microphone or should I say reading aloud before moving the yellow high light.

Fantastic experience: I thoroughly enjoyed this 5-hour Pre-licensing course, which I completed in two days! The course has 10 modules. My plan was to do one module daily. I was impressed by the engaging format and I was able to do five modules each day. To reinforce our understanding, each module had knowledge and module tests. I loved that I was able to do it in my own time. I gained a tremendous amount of knowledge and insight, and I firmly believe that every driver in the USA should be required to take this course. My only minor criticism, as a Jamaican, was the misspelling of "Reggae" in one of the security questions. Overall, I highly recommend it and give it a well-deserved 5 stars!

Fantastic experience: NTSI's defense driving course was easy to do, though time-consuming. There was an audio/read-along option available for purchase for $4 and some change if reading large amounts of material got burdensome or you were busy with school or work. Each module had a quiz after and there was no final exam. The quizzes were easy and around 5 questions each. I had missed my deadline the first time around and when I called NTSI, they were able to restore my course. I had to start over, but I wasn't charged a second time. Highly recommend :)

Positive experience: The online course for the Operator Retraining Program was very detailed, simple, and easy to follow. The supplemental videos were attention-grabbing and brought humbler and a welcoming reminder as to how we should drive more defensively. The interactive quizzes and surveys provided great reflections for the student. The only suggestion I have is to elaborate more on traffic signs in their section and section quizzes on the previous material.

Positive experience: This is not a very good defensive driving course. You basically have to read through pages of information and watch a handful of videos. The videos are very helpful in bringing the points across about safety. The reading content is dense and the flip and reveal tips are not the most engaging. Furthermore, the questions that you have to answer as part of the quizzing portion are hyper-focused on stats and facts that have little bearing on your understanding about defensive driving. Facts like what percentage of accidents happen near your home. It wants you to recall the exact number and whether it is 65% or 80% it is most important to remember to be extra vigilant near home-don't your guard down. The other very annoying aspect of this defensive driving program is that after each segment you must answer questions to check back in. On other programs you simply pick up where you left off and continue. If it times out for too long, you are asked to verify your identity. Lastly, the timer for each segment was ridiculous. They basically just timed it so that they could meet whatever the requirement is is for the state to qualify this as a defensive driving course. Some of us read and process information quickly. Why hold someone hostage for 60 minutes? One could skim the content and guess at the question responses and then go back and input the correct answers the second or third time around-or not read at all, run the clock, prepare dinner and return to answer the quiz questions. This is just not a very good course. It is tedious and not user-friendly. I have done other defensive driving courses and this was the worst. I will definitely not use this again and I do not recommend it to anyone.

Content, hold times and security checks are all required and approved through a lengthy process with the state (as you guessed). We must comply with NYS requirements and our ultimate goal is to create safer roads. We are required to hold you in the course for 6 total hours. We are required to do x amount of security checks in x number of ways. We are to try and ensure that you actual read the material. We have been in business for 50 years and while we take your feedback seriously, it must be noted that your type of review is in the minority. I know taking a defensive driving course is not most peoples favorite pastime. I looked into your account and it seems that you went through it with no issues pretty quickly. Negative experience: the worst defensive driving course I've ever taken. It's 6 hours not 5 and the course locks you out if you fail the test 3 times instead of making you repeat the module as the instructions said. They also constantly ask you to respond to security questions and receive security codes via text or phone. Very annoying and unnecessary.
Hello H P, The course material is 6 hours in length not including quiz time. NYS requires the verification and the number of verifications within the course are also dictated by the state. They also require that you start the course from the beginning if you fail a quiz 3x. That is not our rule. We are very clear about that and our customer service representatives are very knowledgeable about how to help you avoid that happening to you as is evident by the thousands of completed courses each month. Fantastic experience: I needed 4 sessions over a 4-day period to complete this very thorough and thoughtfully designed body of subject matter. The interactive techniques used work well and helped sustain my attention over sometimes repetitive and even disturbing content. The course appears just a bit dated as even over 6 hours going into great detail in each section, it includes nothing about using cruise control and adaptive cruise control (invitations to pay ever less and less attention) - features increasingly common on many new cars. I appreciate my car braking for me when it gets too close to a vehicle in front of me, but I quickly start to depend on it. Not 100% a good thing. Not included in this course.

Fantastic experience: My experience with NTSI, during my online course was extremely awesome. I took the course online since I was trying to consume time and money, and though being nervous of online courses I trusted NTSI and signed up for my 5 hour's course and believe me I have no regrets. Negative experience: there website is misleading and it will cost you money using there online defensive class there are at least 20-30 survey questions asking tons of personal questions, that you may or may not want to answer, also can only be answers once and needed to continue. you are told these question are not important as they will not be given out or used. come to find out they are used actually absolutely necessary. Because in between sessions your asked questions and guess what answers they want?, the ones from the survey. answer a question wrong 3 times your kicked out the class wow how clever! then your sent to customer service where they apologize but you need pay again in order to get access, and have to start from the beginning. After spending 4hrs online thats fun. thanks nsti for your honesty to consumers to complete a defensive driving course. this company is garbage. fair warning

Our NY defensive driving course is 24.95 and our NY 5 hour lpre-licencing course is 44.95. This is clear on our website. Each state mandates and approves courses content, timing and identity verification methods. We ask 10 security questions that are then asked throughout the course to verify your identity. This is state mandated and approved. It doesn't matter if your original answers are true, just that you answer them the same way when asked later therefore verifying that it is you. If you forget your answers, they are available for your convenience on the home page under the tab "registration information" or you can call our dedicated customer service staff who are available and eager to help. If you are blocked, you do not have to pay again. You would just call customer service and they would unblock you. If you registered twice and paid twice, please give us a call. We would most certainly refund you. We do not charge to be unblocked. There are no hidden fees or personal data collection. Again, we would love to hear from you.
