Fantastic experience: Great place to go and get your auto-restrictions removed off of your license in Houston was 650$ for 4 hours and the truck rental. You can only drive 2 hours each day but they make sure you are ready before you get on the road and once they feel you are truly ready they will tell you to meet them at the dmv. The people over there were very nice and friendly Alexander was there and very nice and respectful, nice equipment. Don’t forget to do your brake check at the dmv foot on the brake pedal.

Fantastic experience: The lessons are detailed and quick only needing a minimum of 170 hours but you can take as long as you need. The staff are patient and accommodating to your needs. Took me a few tries to get my license but the staff was very helpful and I eventually got it after 226 hours.

Negative experience: i cant imagine where all these 5 star reviews are coming from. Theyre nice people but they dont seem to have a lot of experience. The inspectors are very young and cant have been in the industry very long. They add a host of extra items to the pre-trip inspection that arent required and only serve to waste time. If you dont know, you get 45 mins to perform your pre-trip inspection regardless of whether you drew one section or a complete inspection. For example; the fan, fan belt, hood, fender mirrors, fender mirror brackets, grill, hood latches are not required in the inspection but they insist they are and will instruct you to include them. Beyond that, they showed up to the DPS where Id been waiting for an hour and just sat in the truck in the front parking lot without ever telling me to meet them there or alerting me to their arrival, dude literally showed up and sat in the parking lot without calling me. They behaved as though it was my fault. Then the dude forgot to bring a stick with him and tried to play it off as though Im supposed to provide my own. The bottom line is theyre one of the many trucking schools that have popped up since the implementation of ELDT. You can do better and i recommend you do. RESPONSE TO OWNER: My point was simply that a $400 truck rental fee should include a stick. Seems reasonable, right?? Second, I spoke candidly with a DPS test proctor who told me Id be better off using chapter 11 in the handbook and online DPS videos than your school considering how much incorrect information you give out. Apparently, your company has a certain reputation with the DPS. The exact quote was: "Rent their trucks, dont pay for their course." Not one person in your staff EVER mentioned that I was to meet the truck in the front parking lot for the road test tour. Your employee sat in the front parking lot for nearly an hour before ANYONE bothered to reach out to me, then when someone finally did they claimed they'd been waiting on me when the truth was Id' been waiting on them. You and I personally had a disagreement about you incorrectly identifying the tie rod as the torsion bar. You were vehement that it was the torsion bar and you were absolutely wrong. Tie rod ends connect the tie rod (not the torsion bar) to the steering arm. You need to consider the cost of your program against the actual value of your instruction. Incorrectly ID'ing a part costs students points. I paid you $100 to crack the hood and see where the engine compartment components were located on that particular make and model. I was specific that i wasnt looking for instruction as Emerald sells that course. You, of your own volition, personally came over to instruct me and managed to add extra items that ARE NOT PART OF THE PRE-TRIP EXAM and misidentify another. 1) Hood 2) hood latches 3) Fender or convex mirrors 4) Fender mirror mounting brackets 5) Bumper 6) fan 7) fan belt 8) grill 9) license plate/tags All of that is just section A. I cant imagine how many more your company adds for no good reason. The fact you do this proves you've never read Chapter 11 in the handbook or watched the official DPS videos. I appreciate you wishing me luck but i took the DPS's advice and used the handbook and passed easily. I rented someone else's truck and got use of a stick to boot. Its funny that yall provide a digital timer for the air brakes tests but not a stick. Its also very telling that yall wont just admit that you messed up and forgot. Thats what bothers me the most about it. Your employee played it off as though Im required to bring my own and here you are, the owner, doing the same. Also, i think its worth noting to anyone who may be reading this that you didnt disagree with me about you adding SEVERAL items to the strictly timed pre-trip inspection test. Again, everyone was very nice but I cant in good conscience recommend your company. Feel free to continue this dialogue.
