Fantastic experience: I recently completed my school at A1 trucking. It was a good experience over all. Paul and the instructors will give you the blueprint to make sure you pass the test. At the end of the day it’s really up to the student if they want to pass. The students determination and effort will ensure they have a good outcome.

Fantastic experience: One of the Best schools in the Bay Area , Took me 3 months to complete and get my cdl. The teachers are very helpful and know exactly what they are talking about I would like to give a big thanks to Ron & Jaime for all the help and tips during school and getting me ready for the real life world , Just make sure you are listening and studying at school and also on your free time. Paul is very flexible with your schedule just be clear what days you are able to attend school and before enrolling to the school just make sure you have a permit to makes things easier and faster on your end.

Fantastic experience: This is my honest review. I have been in this school from Sept15-October 31 2024. A month and half. Jamie was a lot of help because he goes to the DMV with you and takes you out for a drive. What he tells you is what the DMV examiners want and look for. Ron is knowledgeable and gives u pointers on how to parallel park and offset. At first I was terrible at everything. But I learned and took any information I needed to know in. Honestly whoever wants to learn has to pay attention and listen. Some students fail because of themselves. Why I say that? Because listening is key. I went in there do what I gotta do and leave. Honestly I was super nervous when I went to the DMV. But with everything I learned from Ron and Jamie and Paul really helped me out. Ron will give you knowledge in the yard, out on the streets and the DMV is Jamie’s domain. Paul will give u hints and advise on what they want you to do in order to pass. The whole purpose is to pass and move on to the next chapter that’s why we are there. This is my experience and honestly it’s up to the person to take the info and run with it. The reason you fail is you. Oh and btw, I never touched a tractor and trailer until I came to this school. And if I’m being honest, if you are there to make friends and goof off and have fun then this place is not for you. You study, learn, listen and pass and move on. It’s not a play ground for u and your friends to good off and have fun. You have by learning as you go. It’s not day care center for adults. Thank you I hope all of you pass.

Fantastic experience: I like that the process here went really fast. Paul gives you a detailed book to study that explains everything on the test and mentally prepares you. Ron is cool, he explains any questions you have and gives you very thorough descriptions of every single inspection. Jamie and Nick are also great teachers. They both take you on the drives, are very patient with you, give you the run down on all the rules, and teach you the skills course. I didn’t think I’d be able to drive a truck before coming to A-1.

Fantastic experience: Make sure you pay attention and study. Ask Ron to perform any of the steps you don’t understand, he’s very knowledgeable. Jaime will help ease you into driving the tractor, David is for the more advanced students. If you pay attention and time yourself on the pre-trip you’ll pass at DMV.

Fantastic experience: A1 Driving school gave my husband all the tools he needed to receive his Class A license and pass his first time taking the test. All of the instructors were excellent and made sure he was ready to go and well prepared by the time he took his test at the DMV. Fantastic experience: Great school to go through, all the staff were really helpful and easy to work with. Ron and Jamie were just exceptional teachers and informed me of everything needed and required by the dmv. The class itself provides lots of information including information on the instructors and how they do the test at the dmv. Passed my test first try with no problems at all. Fantastic experience: Came here in April and had no idea what I got myself into considering in the past I’ve been wanting to go trucking. Fantastic experience: I started the school about 3 months ago and the school has been excellent because they work with my work schedule, I came in without knowing anything about truck driving. I went with the reviews and they didn't lie. The teachers and staff are excellent the place is huge and will give you plenty of time to drive and do all the things that are needed to pass your driving test. Fantastic experience: This is a very great school for CDL since they have everything you need here and they are very efficiency that you will not waste you time. I just got my class A here. Paul is very helpful and know how to pass the test. Jaime is one of the best instructor. He shows me everything on the road that I need to know and what to improve. And Ron is also very helpful that he teach me everything about truck inspection and back up skill that I need for passing the test.

Fantastic experience: I started the school about two months ago, coming in part-time. I began working with Ron on the inspections, who was very helpful. I was able to get lots of one on one time, as well as hands on drive training with Jaime. Both Ron and Jaime are wonderful teachers! The program evolved easily and I was able to pass my test quickly. They give you a booklet which allows you to learn at home, even when you’re not a school, with parts, procedures, and systems. It also has the route for the DMV test which was especially helpful for me as I was commuting from out of town and not familiar with the area. I felt totally ready when my test came! I had an uncle who went here and told me it was a great school to get your license and he wasn’t lying. I attended the school and it was straight to business, they help you with learning your pre trips on a truck, to learning how to pre trip your Air Breaks. Ron my instructor literally the chilliest instructor you could have and he helped me with everything. Paul is another guy who will help you get it done, they make sure you get the learning you need to succeed and pass the DMV test. Check it out I highly recommend A1 trucking.

Negative experience: If I was you I wouldn't go with this company the son of the owner says alot he won't do to get your money. The son will encourage you, and try to convince you that 99% of those who go with this company will get class a license. He will also tell you a bunch of lies about the service he will provide you with. He took $2500 from me said he will assist me with questions i have to just call him all lies. If you go to the dmv you will realize that they don't test people with this company, why no one will succeed with this company. He gives those who "pass" money to post a review. Sure you can get help from a friend, family, or an app of some sort but that's not the point. You can trow someone a bunch of papers and claim you'll explain anything you don't understand and not explain. I tend to not fuss, if he wants a quick "come up" I'll give it to him but karma is a B, and I'm waiting to a degree.

Negative experience: When looking for a driving school, A-1 Trucking was the best. Once I enrolled and started the driving school, it was different from what Paul told me: I would have time to do the skills. Drivers start doing the skills at 1 PM, and the driving school closes at 2:30 PM. Drivers do not have time to do these skills. If you don't pass the driving test, he wants to charge $1000 more. Paul talks about inadequate DMV personnel. Instead of giving you instructions or teaching about the driving skills that students need to learn.

Fantastic experience: I traveled 200 miles from the Central Coast to attend this school based on it's reviews. I had many choices, but after a visit I chose A-1. If you put in the necessary time and effort, you’ll have no issue passing the DMV testing. Don’t expect to only show up a few times and pass. You need to put in the time studying to learn your Pre-trips, In-cab inspections and brake testing. Ron is a great help in getting you ready for this portion. Jaime was a great help with the on-the-road driving aspect and in getting you prepared to deal with DMV. Paul, the Manager can be intense, but his ultimate goal is to get you ready for the rigors of the DMV. Study hard, prepare yourself and be confident in your ability and you’ll have no problem. Fantastic experience: A1 trucking helping me get my class b licensee quickly and on my first try. Paul was helpful and straight business and got my mind ready to not mess around and take it serious. Fantastic experience: I visited or spoke to most of the CDL schools in the East Bay and A-1 seemed like the best option by far. Experienced, knowledgeable and friendly instructors. All the students felt at ease, helped each other and had no complaints. Big paved yard with plenty of room for backing practice and student parking. Trucks are clean, well maintained and good for learning / testing in. A-1 will provide you with helpful study aids, and teach you what you need to know in order to pass the driving test confidently, quickly and affordably.

Fantastic experience: A1 trucking is definitely a great school for obtaining the Class A/B license. Paul the owner works with your schedule and availability but gets down right to business when needed. Ron was a great instructor and showed me everything from head to toe. Really sits down with you and makes sure you understand everything you need to know for the test. Nick and jaime are also great instructors with the driving portion and such. Obtaining the license is difficult and not for everybody but obviously the more time/ effort you put in comes with good results. Thank you Paul and team for all the knowledge!

Fantastic experience: I got my class B license within 3 months of enrolling. The owner Paul is a straight forward type of person & will tell you the way it is. I came to the yard every chance i had & studied. The other instructors Ron, Jamie, & Nick were great to me & always willing to test me or take me out driving when i would simply asked. Fantastic experience: Great experience, Ron was very helpful in training, he showed me all the skills required to pass the test, he had very easy techniques to quickly pick up on them. He was able to walk me through everything I needed to know for the pre trip and in cab inspection. It was a very good course and everyone was very helpful. The on hands training also helped a lot, they walked me through the walk around of the truck and answered all my questions. They ran practice scenarios with me which helped tremendously in preparing for the real test. Paul the owner worked with me schedule and was very flexible. Jamie was the on road instructor and was also very helpful . Overall I would recommend A-1!

Ron is willing to teach anyone and is patient and works with you, I have a learning disability and he worked with me and helped me through my speech issues if your willing and able to learn this is the school for you they will work with you to get your A or B license. Nick is phenomenal to drive with and so is Paul. They have videos providing step by step each part of the test, impossible to fail. They provide the vehicles for hands on and behind the wheel training. Fantastic experience: Great trucking school in the bay area. This place will give you the tools and knowledge to pass your DMV test. Ron was my instructor and he was very knowledgeable. He made sure I understood the procedures. Paul is very efficient, and available to call 24hrs a day. The school training is when are available and on your schedule. I was able to confidently learn what I was being tested on.

Fantastic experience: I just want to say I’m grateful for everyone at a-1 I got my CDL A within 9 weeks while working with my schedule of two days a week. Paul the owner is great and straight forward with the program and will work with what you need , the trainers Ron and Jamie are amazing they help you through every step and make sure you’re more than ready to pass the test. I had a friend come to this school a few months before ,he passed got his CDL A too. Everyone here knows what their doing, if you want your class A or B come here it’s worth it

Fantastic experience: A-1 truck school is A1!!!!! I just finished school. Took the test and passed. First try. They will teach you everything you need to pass your test at the dmv and get your license. They have great trucks you can practice with and use for your dmv test. They have the proper info you need to pass your inspections. Fantastic experience: I don’t have a Gmail so I’m using my wife’s My name is Dave White and usually never leave reviews but I felt like I had to at least give this school a review after everything they did to help my get my Commercial License. The test is not an easy one but A1 gives you all the tools you need in order to pass and they prepare you for everything the driving instructor will throw at you. Special shout out to Jamie who helped me through a lot of the studying & extra preparation. He even came with me to the test & brought a lawn chair and watched me. That showed me that he really cares about his students and what he is doing. I give this school my highest recommendation, I passed on my first try.

Fantastic experience: Not the type to write reviews but this school helped me so much. The staff Paul, Ron and Jaime are all extremely helpful. Any questions about the procedure on obtaining your CDL Or permit they helped along the way. Any questions weather they seemed busy they made sure to answer for you. All you have to do is listen show up study your form a/b or c.

Fantastic experience: Jamie great on the driving making sure you’re ready for dmv. Ron is great on making sure you get your forms down airbrakes down. If you not sure on what you doing wrong catch Ron one on one I came in passed 3weeks on my first time. Paul is a great guy it’s straight business so don’t go if you ain’t serious he gonna push you to your full potential. Started May 8 finish May 31st as an Class A Driver

Fantastic experience: Definitely recommend A-1. I was able to get the training I needed, based around my work schedule. Thanks to A1 I passed my class A test (manual), on the first try after only 5 days of training (over the period of a couple weeks), thanks to Ron being a great skills/pre-trip teacher and Jaime knowing the road test as if he designed it for the DMV.

If you’re looking for school come here and handle it. Paul, the owner is very fair, but is very aggressive and getting you to pass your test.

Fantastic experience: Got my Class A CDL in 9 days! First off, let me address some of these negative reviews about this school. It is a business and you need to pay for its product, so when the owner asks for your money up front it should not come as a shock to you. Second, you’re studying to pass the CA DMV practical test, period. You’re not here to learn everything there is know about trucking. That comes with your first employer and experience on the road. This isn’t high school, there’s no syllabus and classroom with a teacher holding your hand telling you what chapter to read. You’re an adult training to become a professional driver so a high level of self-responsibility to learn the material is expected from you. Now let’s get into the nuts and bolts of this place. When you first arrive, you’ll meet with Paul (the owner), settle your debt, and get the training material via email in a PDF. At home (or Staples) print the entire file. This is your bible while you’re here. Learn everything in it from cover to cover and you will pass your test. 90% of your time here will be spent in the yard learning your pre-trip inspections, air brakes, in-cab inspections, and maneuvers. You will spend time driving, but that’s the easy part and will only be portion of your training. The instructors in the yard are very knowledgeable and helpful, but as I mentioned they’re not going to hold your hand. They’re mainly there to supervise and offer advice or answer any questions you may have. Big shoutout to Jamie and Ron! Your best bet to learn effectively is to find another student to use as a study partner. I found all of the students there to be very friendly and easy to work with. The yard itself is paved and great for learning and practicing. There’s a handful of trucks available to practice with and they’re mostly identical with a few exceptions (automatic/manual). All the trucks were working as well. It wasn’t overcrowded either, there’s plenty of space to bounce around and practice different aspects of your training. I did, indeed, pass my CDL test earlier this afternoon after just 9 days there, and I will explain how. First, I obtained my learner’s permit before even showing up. That way all of my energy could be focused on studying “the book” given to you at the start. Second, I went there every single day from about 9am until they closed up around 3. I’d spend my evenings studying the book going over what I learned during the day. Third, I made friends with other students in the yard and we spent hours practicing together. Ultimately, how long it takes to get your CDL is completely up to YOU, and that’s what I really enjoyed about this place. Other schools will put you in their 6-8 week program and that’s that. Perhaps some people need it, but I have a background in operating equipment and really appreciated Paul’s willingness to work with my capabilities and timeframe. Final piece of advice, SLOW DOWN and listen to what Paul has to say to you. He may come off as rude but he’s been doing this for a long time and genuinely wants you to pass your test. These DMV examiners can be banshees and if you can’t handle Paul’s wisdom the examiner will chew you up and spit you out with a big F. Only take the test when you absolutely feel you’re ready. No one’s going to make you take it, and no one’s going to stop you from taking it. It is completely up to YOU. In the end I highly recommend this place to anyone looking to obtain their CDL who can hold themselves accountable for how much and how fast they want to learn. Hope y’all found this helpful.
