His 7 day class was enough to get me use to the road. I also liked that he didn’t get mad at my mistakes and always had a smile on his face even when I was upset at myself. Negative experience: TLDR; Instructor randomly changes the price you owe the day before the exam, half the lessons were picking up other students, and I failed his driving exam for "being too cautious" and "turning too close to the curb". I'm an adult with a Learner's Permit who wanted to touch up on my driving in preparation for my DMV road test. But through some small talk, the instructor told me that if I completed a Driver's Ed course in high school and had my Certificate of Completion, (pink slip) he could administer the test. The instructor was pretty decent for the first few days. He was very informative and was easy to talk to. My driver's anxiety was greatly reduced. However, I noticed that for the last 3 days of instruction, I was primarily picking up other students and sitting in the back seat as they drove me home. I was basically paying full price for 1 hour yet driving for 30-35 minutes. On the 6th day (the day before the driving exam), he told me that I didn't pay him the amount I was supposed to pay him despite me sending multiple text verifications after each lesson of the amount we discussed on the phone. This turned into an argument (all while a student I had to pick up /yet again/ was sitting in the backseat) and ghosted me on the 7th day, the day of my exam. We rescheduled for Wednesday (after my Mom called and got through to him) and I did the exam while another student was in the backseat. He simply said to follow his directions and if he has to use his brakes or touch my wheel, it's an instant fail. After the exam (which was about 15 minutes), we stepped outside of the car and he told me I failed. His critiques in question? "You missed the initial left turn and had to make a u-turn at the light." Okay, fair. "When you turned into the parking lot, you turned too close to the curb." Valid, yet this was apparently the critique that made me instantly fail despite 1. him not touching my wheel nor using his brakes and 2. me not actually hitting/driving over the curb. "You seemed too cautious when driving." Yep. The critique wasn't that I was 'too nervous' or that I was 'driving too slow'... I got points off for driving like I was doing a driving test. He told me I could retry the test the next day (for a surcharge of $10 more than the standard cost) but I had the feeling that he knew he was going to fail me before the exam even started due to our argument about him altering the price the day before my exam. I guess weaponizing my license was his way to dish more money out of me. Overall, if you decide to do business with him, I recommend getting him to confirm the price per lesson through text before you pay him (he only accepts cash or check). He will try to recommend you the 7-day pack. And when you get to the point where you start picking up other students, you've pretty much got your money's worth and can stop lessons with him.
