David is the Operator of 1st Mile Driving School. He is a graduate of Chico State University with his Bachelor's degree in Business Administration. He has resided in Chico since 1982 and has taught driver's education starting in 1996 at four different drivers ed schools in the north state area. He has taught driver's ed to young immigrant students with limited English vocabulary, bi-lingual students and students up to 78 years old. David is fluent in Spanish and he has desired to open his own driving school for many years, wanting to take the best qualities of each school he has worked at, along with his own professional and personal driving skills and incorporate them into 1st Mile Driving School. He and his wife Lesa, a state Certified Residential Appraiser, have put together an experienced staff of educators with over 69+ years of driver's ed teaching experience. We, at 1st Mile Driving School, are anxious to help you learn to be a good driver and practice safe driving skills. It is our personal goal that the students we teach do not become a statistic and that our students have a good quality experience, from our educated instructors to the quality of the vehicles we have chosen for your use.

Take your classroom education at the link below even before you're eligible to get your permit. It would be a good idea to make a DMV appointment for your written test a couple of months before you plan to get your permit, then give us a call @ (530) 588-9011 to book your seat behind the wheel. We offer our driving school in Chico, Paradise, Magalia, Oroville, Gridley, Biggs, as well as in Glenn, Plumas & Tehama counties.

We cover most of Butte, Glenn, Plumas & Tehama counties. Free, convenient pickup & drop off available to most locations. Weekend appointments available. Call for more details.

Success on the State of California DMV written exam is required prior to our 6-hour Behind-the-Wheel training, and subsequently receiving a teen learner's permit.

Experiencia negativa: The driver /owner is super rude unprofessional he used foul language on my son he was upset and crying I don’t recommend this driving school my sister was furious when she learned that the instructor used foul language not nice no respect no compassionate

Experiencia negativa: Horrible experience. The owners are just miserable. They should NOT be teaching new drivers. The instructor I got was a hot headed, disengaged, distracted and plain rude. DO NOT use this driving school unless you want to ruin your day. This was a complete waste of my time and money.

Experiencia negativa: I would not recommend this company! Pay more money, and get your lessons from the competitors! We had our third instructed visit today, the instructor told me they would be back in an hour to an hour and 15 minutes. When I asked why, she said she felt my daughter was a good enough driver. I reminded her that we paid a lot of money for three 2 hour sessions, and her response was OK. Also, all three sessions the instructor made my daughter go to the gas station because the fuel light was on, and I mean all three sessions. The fuel light was on and she had my daughter go to the gas station and fill up on our time taking time away from her driving again some thing we paid an awful lot of money for. I also learned today that on this last visit, the instructor was on her phone texting, visiting, social media, etc. not actively paying attention to what the driver was doing. Bit had a lot of criticism when she would look up and see that maybe she wanted things to be different very inconsistent, unprofessional, and very unfortunate that we had to use them as a service . Again, people pay more to get more professionalism out of the competitor, would never ever ever recommend this place.!!

Experiencia fantástica: Very prompt in getting back to you. My daughter had Laurel and she couldn't say enough good things about her. She's very knowledgeable, very patient and very friendly. Will definitely recommend to friends!
